Captivate course crashes when zooming in on iPad
Hi,
I am having a weird problem and am wondering if anyone else has exprienced something similar. I've published a course as html5 (Captivate7, includes the patch from November), SCORM 1.2.
The course itself, and it's content, plays just fine on the iPad. However, whenever I zoom in, it crashes Safari. I have the course posted to our LMS.
To test if it's the LMS, I've uploaded the course to scormcloud, and it has played fine. However, I noticed, that user zooming seems to be disabled on scormcloud, so I couldn't actually check if it is simply the zooming in, that causes the issue, or if it is my LMS.
Has anyone else experienced this issue, or has anyone figured out a way to avoid this? I know it's possible to disable zooming into websites using meta tags, but am not sure how to make that happen with a file published from Captivate.
Thanks
This worked for me, thanks

Re: iPad Mini Safari scrolling problem
Jan 1, 2013 11:15 AM (in response to amirfromcupertino)
I was dealing with this same issue an my iPad Mini. Here's what I did yesterday and I haven't seen the problem since:
1) Go to Settings >> Safari
2) Turn on Private Browsing
3) Clear Cookies & Data
I cannot guarantee this will always solve the problem, but it has worked for me.
Let me know if that works for anyone else :)
P.S. I'm a developer myself and I would give the software developers a little slack. Programming is more crazy than people think. Most likely they expected the iPad Mini to work exactly like the full-size iPad, but bugs always pop up. It will get fixed :) Chrome is always an alternative if Safari is struggling.

Captivate 4 crashes when recording
Captivate 4 crashes when recording additional slides - this happens when you press 'End' to stop recording and the files are being imported into Captivate. You then have to restart Captivate, open the project, close it again in an orderly fashion and re-open Captivate again before you can 'attempt' to record anything else or you receive the following message: "Another session of Adobe Captivate is currently recording. Please close the other session of Adobe Captivate before trying to record."
Having searched the forum regarding this problem and found that many people have had the same issue - I have tried many of the things suggested but have not yet come across a method for fixing this issue once it occurs.
This does not happen to all projects - it seems to be random, although I have now re-started this particular project 4 times and it keeps occuring ...
Does anyone know of the cause, a fix or even if Adobe is looking into this issue?
TIA
MorvenI believe I have now found the cause of this problem!
I got a new disk (same computer) and installed Windows7 and Captivate4 - this eliminated the problem I was having with using variables in any project but not the problem with Captivate crashing when re-recording slides.
I narrowed the problem to the project template - projects that I create without the project template or with a template supplied by Adobe are fine and projects created based on the template I created are not.
I have now re-created my project template - slide by slide - checking after adding each new slide that the problem had not returned.
All in all it has been a very frustrating exercise as the error messages displayed are more or less useless.
One thing I did notice is the size of the template file - after having created an identical project template the new template is approximately a quarter of the size of the corrupt template. Even after adding a blank slide and deleting all other slides from my original project template file - the size of the file is still 3,599 KB in comparison to a new project template with the same blank screen which is 171 KB.
Anyway hope this is helpful.

IPad photo app crashes when zooming into pictures
I have about 15 GB of photos on this iPad- and the photo app crashes any time I try to pinch to zoom into a picture. anyone else having this problem? what's the deal? works sometimes but crashes 2 out of three times.
Did you get any fruitful answers from an Apple Genius? Sure wouldn't mind saving myself a trip. Thanks.
Nutshell:
I've had two iPads thus far where I cannot use the Photos app because anytime I scroll it crashes.
I had my first iPad replaced since it couldn't play any video without the entire machine locking up and requiring a forced restart. (see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11320267 ) The Photos app on my first iPad would also crash anytime I attempted to scroll through my photos.
Now, the Photos app on my second, replacement iPad is behaving the same way, it always crashes when I scroll.
Observations:
• I didn't put any of the same photos back on my replacement iPad, I started with an empty Photos app which ever since only contains images that I've saved to the Photos app from other apps on the iPad, e.g. screenshots, saving images from Safari, Mail, etc.
• I did test drive the Photos app after having saved only a handful of images ( ≈ 30 imgs) and was happy to see that it DID NOT crash. Unfortunately it wasn't long after, having had saved a handful or so more images to the photo library that the app again began to crash anytime I would begin scrolling down through images. -
Captivate 5: Crashes when I open another window?
I've been working with captivate 3 and 4 for years, and just upgraded to 5. Usually, when I do my Close Captioning, I open my word document with the "script" and copy and paste the captioning in. Suddenly, Captivate is crashing on me if I open another window while the captioning window is open, or if Captivate has ANY window open other than the main one. This even happened while I was editing/CCing and I needed to open an email! Ack!
Is this a known bug? Is there anyway I can keep this from happening, short of NOT opening other windows while I'm working on a project? In Firefox 4 the cursor is placed automatically at the end of a text area.<br />
Easiest to go to the top is by using Ctrl+Home -
Captivate 8 crashes when publish "near CD quality" audio

I can split the project in 2 parts and it will publish successfully. I am running Captivate as an administrator. My system: Intel Core i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz, 8 GB DDRS RAM, GeForce GT755M, Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB (125GB available)
It appears, looking through the crash log, that this particular project/file has become corrupted so...
I would suggest you use the Selective Track Import feature in Logic and see how much of it you can rescue...

ITune 10.6.1 CRASHED when I syn my iPad 2
I think iTune crashing when the apple brought out 10.6 and many discussion was revolving around having iPhoto issues. Since I couldn't find something similar to the problem I've got, maybe I'm the only one with this issue. I was using iTune 10.5.3 and everything was working fine until 10.6 came out. Everything seem to be fine, i.e. no crashing or whatsoever, even syned both my iphone and ipad. Only problem was, I'm unable to syn new stuffs onto the devices. I've tried syning an ebook and iTune crashed immediately. Thinking that it was a problem with 10.6, I waited for 10.6.1 and guess what. I've just updated it to 10.6.1 and it is still crashing when I tried to syn a ebook. Is this again one of those bug that no one noticed when the lastest release came out. I've tried downgrading my iTune back to what it was before but apparently, the certificate has expired so there was an installation failure. Now I'm stuck with not being able to put stuffs into my devices... Is there anyone out that having the same problem??? Thanks
Presumably it's the Apple adapter? If not, there could be compatibility problems

Photos app crashes when zooming some photos
Some photos synced from my iMac's iPhoto '11 library are crashing the Photos app on my iPad. The iPad displays these photos are blurry thumbnails, then when I zoom into them, it puts the play button on the photo, like it's a video. If I tap the photo or interact with it to go to the next photo, it will crash the Photos app.

and yep, I went thru all the suggested thingies recommended on here:

cheersAlso using iTunes 11.4 on Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64-bit. Crashes in the "syncing apps" stage. Happens on two different user accounts, one using an iPod Touch and one using an iPhone 5.
Clean uninstall/reinstall doesn't make any difference. Safe mode doesn't make any difference (no plug-ins installed).
Stack trace shows an unknown routine in iTunesMobileDevice.dll calling Microsoft C++ runtime routine _wstat32i64 with a null name parameter. This is definitely an iTunes 11.4 bug.

*int _stat(name, buf) - get file status info

Cumputer crashing when syncing photos to iPad
When I sync photos to my iPad my computer crashes. Not just iTunes, but my computer shuts down.
The time it takes for the crash to happen varies. I read on a post from earlier this year to delete the photo cache and try again. This makes iTunes treat it like a new photo library and starts over with the photo sync. I did this and it got further in how many photos it loaded but still crashed.
My compter just got a critical update for windows and an update for iTunes. I don't plug in the iPad frequently, so I don't know if these new updates are why this started happening.
I haven't taken any other actions like reinstallations etc.... I figure my computer has had enough restarts.
I have iTunes version 10.5.2.11
Windows 7, Toshiba, 64bitThis is how Apple handles photos.
Just as a song is in your music library and you can access that exact same song from a playlist, your photos are in the Photo Library and those exact same photos can be accessed from the labum you synced.
It is working exactly as designed. -
Keynotes crashes when importing presentations to ipad. What can I do to avoid this?
Hi
When trying to import/export keynotes presentations from mac to ipad Keynotes will crash.
I have tried using itunes, idisk og even via e-mail.
The original presentation is made in Powerpoint and then redone in Keynotes.
What do I do wrong?
Best regards
Martini have this problem as well. I REFUSE to make another non smart playlist and copy songs from the smart playlist over. This should just work. The whole reason i use smart playlists is because of the live updating which also works for Itunes match. Copying songs into a different playlist defeats the whole purpose of live updating feature. The BPM option of filters is the only reason the song dont show up in the playlist on my phone. The playlist is there but no songs are in the playlist. But it works with in iTunes.

ITunes crashes when trying to sync iPad and iPhone to Macbook Air
I would like to back up iPhone and iPad. Every time I connect either device to my Macbook Air, iTunes crashes and I have to force quit.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful. -
This version of Captivate has been fairly reliable, at least compared to versions 1-4 that I have worked with previously, however, five minutes into my first responsive project, I am getting fatal errors when I try to paste any text caption between slides. I also get fatal errors when trying to paste slides between responsive projects.
Has anyone experienced this, and more importantly, does anyone have a solution?
I am running Windows 8 SP1, Intel I7For posterity, seems like there are issues with certain custom captions and responsive projects. After reinstall, clearing every cache I am aware of, and running the clean preferences .bat, my custom captions no longer appear in the properties window, and I am able to copy stock captions between slides.
Not sure if the reinstall was necessary or not. Here are the folders that appeared to cache data and the location of the .bat
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 8 x64\utils\CleanPreferencesWin.bat"
"C:\Users\Brom\AppData\Local\Adobe\Captivate 8.0"
"C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe\eLearning Assets\Layouts"
If anyone has input as to what might make a custom caption crash a responsive project, I'd be interested. I wouldn't have bothered with custom captions, except that the stock ones are so amateurish. -
