Captivate CS4 - As3: Close Project problem

I've just built a project with some As3 animations. Hence I saved the project as an As3 project. The problem is that at the end of the last slide, the project freezes rather than shuts down. I have taken care to select the "Close Project " option rather than the Stop option. But the project does not close automatically. Also the Exit button does not work (as intended).
More details:
Captivate CS4
IE7 browser
I've looked at some previous queries too on this forum but none seem to have an answer to the problem.

Withdraw the question.
It seems to run fine on my LMS but the issue is with IE, I guess.

  • Captivate 4, LMS, close project

    Hello,
    I am using Captivate 4 and Pathlore LMS. I have attached a Captivate quiz content object to the LMS as both an .swf and .exe. The .exe does not even launch (as I learned from searching that this is the normal behavior between LMS and .exe) and the .swf does not close.
    I have attempted to use the "Close project" action and the error message, "Internet Explorer cannot download. Unspecified error." is launched. I have also tried to execute various JavaScript to close the window, to no avail.
    I have searched the forum and the internet and cannot seem to find a solution to this.
    Help please?
    Thanks,
    John.

  • CP5: Close Project causing problems

    I have two problems, which I think may be related.
    In order to give users control over closing a project, I have a 'Finish' button on the second-to-last slide, which goes to the last slide, which is only 1/2 second long, and should then close, since the "end" preferences are set for Close Project.  I did it this way because there is no action for "Close Project."
    1.  This worked fine in Captivate 4, but in CP5 the projects are not closing, and the X button on the Navigation bar doesn't work.  The only way to close it is to close the window.
    2.  The LMS's don't recognize the project as complete.
    Is this a bug, something I'm missing, or is it to do with SCOs vs. Courses?

    Hi,
    Just following up on Rod's post...
    The problem I'm having with the LMSs doesn't happen with the projects created in Captivate 4 - they close correctly, and register in the LMSs as completed.
    One LMS is a variation on Moodle; the other is one that is used primarily in law firms.  Both (I think) run the content in a separate window - I know one does.
    As I've said in my responses to Rick, I've run them from a web server as tests - mine don't close, and both his test projects did.
    Any more suggestions?  This is really serious for us.

  • 'Close Project' in Captivate 4 not working

    Hi,
    I have a number of projects where I set the preferences to close the project, and it works in some and not others.
    I have a slide with a 'Done' button.  When the user clicks it, it goes to another slide with nothing on it but the background and a text caption from the previous screen, and it is set for only one second.  Some of these projects close perfectly; others delete the text caption and leave the project open.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks, as always.

    Hmmm, it was intended to show you that you simply cannot rely on the different means of closing the window. Close Project and the Exit button are essentially the same action, no? Perhaps I should amend the note so it specifically also mentions the action of Close Project.
    The thing is, unless you are presenting your Captivat using EXE format, you are seeing a very generic overall issue with closing a browser window. And closing browser windows is inherently fraught with issues and seldom works as one would expect. The only way to make it work as you want most of the time is to ensure you always open the window using JavaScript so it's a child window. When you open in this manner you have more control over the behavior of the child window and can usually close it at will.

  • CS4 - is encountering a problem and needs to close

    Hello from Africa
    We have a newish computer system which is not connected to the internet ( photography only,, Windows XP, 2 monitors) and this evening we installed  CS4, and un-installed CS3. When we try to open Photoshop the following message appears :
    Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements.
    Check the videocard manufacturer's website for the latest software
    GPU enhancements can be enabled in the Perfomance panel of preferences.
    We manage to get past this and then we are unable to open any photos in photoshop and the message that is diplayed is "CS4 is encountering a problem and needs to close" . CS3 had exactly the same problem but at least we were able to open photos and even work on them sometimes! Usually it reported the same message as above and then halfway through working with the pic, it closed down. Super frustrating!!
    Does anyone have any solution for us as I see it's not a new problem - we are not very clued-up, technically speaking , so could someone explain it simply?
    Annabelle

    I think that it's linked from the PrPro Wiki, in the FAQ section.
    Close. All Adobe Technical Support Documents dealing with Premiere Pro are meticulously listed in the Support category of the wiki.

  • Captivate 8 Published Project Problems

    When testing my course on mobile devices there seems to be a major loading problem. The course will freeze and then the slide appears with either no voice over or no graphic or even nothing. I tested on the new Galaxy Nexus tablet therefore i thought it could be android as they are known for html 5 and flash problems, however i then tested on an Ipad and the same issue keeps occurring. I can't think of anything to do as all other coursers (in captivate 7) work beautifully no problems, and now i cant go back to Captivate 7 as all files are now Captivate 8.
    Please help. Thank you.

    I did a quick test with a few random slides and they work fine. They arnt any of the slides from the course I am currently working on, should I test them instead?

  • (Help) Using Input text in Flash CS4 AS3

    I am trying to take a user's input (His Name) and then greet the user on the next frame using the name he previously entered. I googled for 2days and was unable to find a way to do this on flash CS4 AS3, i guess because im very new to flash (only 2-3weeks )
    Any help would be greatly appreciated, and i am sorry if this was already answered in the forums.
    thanks for reading.

    If your interested... here's some general "rules of the road" that are basically courtesies...
    Don't post the same question in different forums (crossposting).  Folks that help don't like that because they can waste their time providing the same response someone else already offered elsewhere, or their helpful info gets no attention because the OP (original poster) got wrapped up in the discussion elsewhere and never went back to the other forums.  I saw one time where the OP suffered from doing this... the first person to respond in one forum said what they wanted couldn't be done, while my response in another forum showed them how to do it... but they accepted that it couldn't be done and never returned.
    Don't post in someone else's posting unless the exact same situation applies to you and it is a current posting.  It is a bit rude to step into someone else's posting just to get attention, which some people do... some with totally unrelated problems.  Or if your problem is even slightly different, it can end up confusing matters for all involved... trying to juggle helping two people where different solutions are needed.
    If you get one problem resolved and have another you want help with that does not involve the first, start a new posting.  People search these forums so it helps to have topics match the postings, which will not apply if mutliple topics get resolved under one title.  I recently saw one person tell someone to start a new posting even though they were following up to clarify something of the solution they received... that's wrong and is more likely someone with a case of points greed... as useless as points are, it happens.

  • How can I NOT let collision happen in Flash CS4(AS3)?

    I have been playing with collisions for quite a while, but cannot seem to get it just the way i want it to be.
    I made a new rectangle into a Movie Clip, with an instance name : "block_mc"
    I made a sphere into a Movie Clip, with an instance name : "ball_mc"
    I made the sphere(ball_mc) movable with the arrow keys.(see post:http://forums.adobe.com/thread/491457?tstart=0 )
    Now I wanted to try and make the sphere(ball_mc) stop moving so it wont hit the rectangle(block_mc), so that the rectangle(block_mc) would act like a solid object.
    Meaning the sphere(ball_mc) would not be able to touch the rectangle(block_mc). It would act like a wall.
    Now my problem is I don't know if there is a way of not letting objects collide?
    I tried the ".hitTestObject()" but that did not work for me.
    ~ Thanks for Help and Advice~

    I apologize, for this confusing long question, I simply ment to ask:
    Is there a way Flash CS4(AS3.0) will not let Objects on stage collide?
    ~Thank you for any Tips, Advice and Help~

  • Need help in screen capturing for flash CS4 AS3

    Hi, i need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! URGENT!
    I am currently doing Augmented Reality.
    I got my marker to detect my model but my problem now is how to screen capture the content that is in swf.
    (As in capture the dae model shown in the comp not from webcam.)
    & also i just want to capture the swf window not the whole desktop.
    I read online, they say its impossible?
    Or is it possible to call screen capture function in javascript to flash CS4? (LIke external data)
    (Moreover, does anyone know how to detect multiple dae models with different markers?)
    Anyone can help??? Thanks in adv!!

    My current program (Flash CS4, AS3) only can capture what the webcam sees.
    How do i change it to screen capture (something like print screen) with my .DAE models?
    In the case, when i click on the capture button, it print screen.
    Here's part of the code that capture what the webcam sees.
    private function captureImage(e:MouseEvent):void
       bmd.draw(stage);
       bmp = new Bitmap(bmd);
       bmp.x = 140;
       bmp.y = 40;
       addChild(bmp);
       capture.visible = false;
       saveButton.visible = true;
       discardButton.visible = true;

  • AS3 Data Coercion Problem

    AS3 Data Coercion Problem
    From PHP server RemoteObject AMF3 serialization, I receive a
    photo object per below into my Flex client:
    package WPhoto {
    [Bindable]
    [RemoteClass(alias="WPhoto.PhotoObj")]
    public class PhotoObj {
    public var photo:*;
    public var photoWidth:int;
    public var photoHeight:int;
    The above 'photo' property String of a one-byte (UTF-8)
    '.jpg' photo data. Due to PHP's rather limited set of primitive
    data types this is the best I can do per returning photo data to
    the Flex client. (Extreme tries at PHP data structure chicanery
    hasn't worked for me.)
    I need photo property in a DisplayObject format such that I
    can render photo as a child of my App's DisplayObject. The AS3
    Loader class performs this task, when sourced from an AS3
    ByteArray.
    o Loader.loadBytes(bytes:ByteArray, context:LoaderContext =
    null):void
    Loads from binary data stored in a ByteArray object.
    My dilemma is "how to" convert a UTF-8 string of photo data
    into a ByteArray. I've been through the ByteArray.writeXXX() class
    methods without finding anything close to meeting my requirements.
    AS3 String readers expect UTF-16 data, so reading AS3 string
    reading is not a solution. AS3 has no Byte data type, accordingly
    reading my photo data UTF-8 string with a "for loop" into a AS3
    UTF-16 string, or whatever, is not viable. Is there a single-byte
    reader to 'whatever' writer I'm not aware of?
    If I was sourcing photos from a Java based server, my photo
    rendering dilemma would be over. The server to client packets would
    be "java.lang.Byte[]" => flash.utils.ByteArray and voilà we
    could easily and directly render photos via the Loader.loadBytes()
    method.
    I can tentatively extend one of the AS3 ByteArray class write
    methods if I thought there was a way to read UTF-8 streams. Before
    digging down into the ByteArray class on a feasibility basis, I
    thought it first best to ask around the experts per 1) can
    ByteArray be extended for my requirement, or 2) is there a better
    way to approach this, which I have not thought of?

    Hi,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
    I simply don't get it.
    I have a root class which adds two different children of
    different classes. One child dispatched an event, and the other is
    supposed to get it. Both of the are now supposed to be in the
    instance hirrarchy, or am I wrong?
    Logically, I'd figure this should work smooth and simple
    without any need for any looping or such.
    Right now, the root class can recieve the event dispatched by
    child1, but I can't make child2 recieve any event dispatched by
    either the root or child1.
    I'd appreciate if you could show me the way...
    thanks again,

  • Flash CS4 IDE based project and embed metadata tags

    I posted this in one of the other sub-forums before I realised this one was available.
    I am moving over to using the Flex based embed metadata tags to import assets into my Flash CS4 IDE based project. This is working very well but I have hit one small problem - how do you now create a pre-loader? I've done the usual google to look for a solution and found many Flex based solutions and tried them all out but they do not appear to work from within a CS4 IDE based project - even when tried out on a web page.
    Is there a solution to this?

    I'm doing the same thing, it's great to have the embed function, but the swf loads all embed content before anything else.  This for me makes the feature useless. I make games and game sites want everything in one swf, so making a separate swf preloader wont work for me.  Hope Adobe creates a solution for this.
    Here are my post on the subject:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/499997?tstart=0
    and

    Also I submitted a feature request with Adobe, I suggest you do the same.
    good luck!

  • Premiere Pro CS6 6.0.2 hangs on Close Project

    I have a project that I was working on today that seems to have somehow become corrupted. Everytime I open it, and then attempt to Close Project, premiere will stop responding.
    I've tried creating a new project, and when I import the sequence from the older project file, save, and and attempt to Close Project, premiere stops responding...
    A couple of other projects seem fine. So somehow, this project must have become damaged or something.
    How can I debug this issue so i can get the sequence back to keep working?
    Thanks,
    -ken

    I was able to find an auto-save version that only lost me some of the work I had done, so thanks for the suggestion.
    As I began redoing the lost work, I reproduced the problem. So I spent the last hour narrowing down what is causing it, and have found that an audio track that I am imported will reproduce the issue every time.
    I can even start a new project, and import that single audio track, and cause premiere to hang. It's clearly a bug, but I'm not sure how to figure out what's going on.
    The track was an MP3, so I brought it into audition and exported it as an AIFF file. But importing that file causes the same issue.
    What's the best way to get Adobe to look at this. It's a simple problem to reproduce, and since it causes the app to hang, it probably should be fixed. I also tried to just remove that audio item from the latest project file, but that doesn't help. Once I import the track, any attempts to save the project will result in a hang.
    Thanks in advance,
    -ken

  • I'm having trouble with Captivate CS4 the audio won't record (using Vista)

    Hello,
    Please help!!!...I've tried the patches outlined in prior question/answers regarding audio recording problems by replacing the nsaudio.dll files as suggested at http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/03/audio_play_back_and_usb_mic_is.html
    and used the SubInAcl Windows Registry Tool outlined at http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/03/adobe_captivate_4_installation.html
    The issue seems to be resolved at first but inexplicably the audio recording stop working again.
    I also noticed that I'm getting error messages regarding the following Captivate files.  NSAudio.dll , Ppsuplo.dll, avi2swf.dll, FullMotionrecorder.dll and WaveEditCtrl.ocx files
    What can I do to resolve the recording problems that seem to plague Captivate CS4.   Does Adobe offer any updates to their software to resolve well documented bugs.
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi there
    Have you reported these to Adobe support?

    The answer here is they certainly do. But updates are sometimes few and far between. And the likelihood of seein an update to address issues such as these is totally dependent on the number of reports Adobe receives about them.
    If you haven't, please consider submitting a Bug Report. That will only help increase any chance of seeing an update to fix things.

  • Preloader in CS4/AS3

    I need help.  I'm trying to create a preloader using CS4/AS3, and so far I've accomplished what I consider to be "one step forward - two steps back".  I've found plenty of guidance for creating/manipulating in AS2, but..... next to nothing for AS3. Everything that I have found tells me what to do with the .swf movie that I've created.  The problem..... creating the .swf.  Can someone guide me in the right direction.
    So far one of the best resources (most thorough anyway) is www.gotoandlearn.com.  The problem is each tutorial that I've seen still begins with a pre-created .swf movie.
    Thanks in advance.

    Well, kind of..... and not.  The preloader appears to come up when I do a "Publish Preview", but it's instantaneous, then the movie loads.  Ironically, without the preloader, the redirect works great... with the preloader, the movie simply loops.....
    New screencaps attached...
