Captivate doesn't work without admin access

I work in a large organisation and don't have admin access to my machine. IT team have installed Captivate using their admin profile. But when I try to launch it as a "user", the program crashes right away. Adobe support suggested the following but it doesn't work. Has anyone found a way around the problem?
Ajit: You can do one thing, Could you ask your IT to set this application on Admin mode always for your User Account, which means they need not provide you the admin rights completely but just to this application.Ajit: you can set it by going to installed location of Adobe Captivate.exe-- Right Click-- Properties, Under Compatibility mode, set it to open in admin mode always. Under Security Tab, get your user name added and make sure it recieves Full Control over this application.

Yes you DO need to run Captivate in  Administrator Mode.  But not having this set up properly doesn't usually cause the app to crash immediately on startup.  If anything, it usually means you crash later on when trying to do something like capture screens. Your problem may be due to something else. 
One thing that often crops up is corrupted fonts causing the crash.  You can search for posts on that.  Another thing you may need to also investigate is whether or not your organisation is using roaming user profiles.  If they are, then that could also cause your Captivate application to crash.  Captivate 6 in particular suffers from an issue where the Layouts folder that contains Captivate themes is installed by default inside the user's My Documents folder and it cannot be moved from there to another location on the user's hard drive. However, if using roaming profiles, then the shifting location of this Layouts folder has been known to cause crashing.

    This is not a direct answer to your question, but you can use AT&T WWAN without either Access Connections or AT&T Communications Manager. Here are the AT&T instructions for this in Vista and XP.

    It's probably that your Keychain password is not the same as your login password. If you configured your computer to log you in automatically, you may not have used your login password in so long you forgot it.
    There is no way to retrieve the "login" Keychain password, but you can reset the Keychain from the Preferences menu: select it in the Keychain Access menu and select "Reset My Default Keychain". This will create a new, empty Keychain but the old one will be saved should you ever remember its password.
    The result of this is that you will have to supply passwords for everything that requires it, since without your Keychain they will no longer automatically fill themselves. However, once you supply them and store them in your new Keychain, they will be remembered.

    In Action section of Properties Box, I selected "Execute Javascript".
    In the script window, i writed :         alert("I Love Captivate");
    I generated my project in Html
    In the HTML output, the bouton doesn't work.
    Anybody knows why ?
    I'm using Internet explorer.

    You won't have to worry as long as your course content is being delivered from a web server.
    If you were delivering the content from a CD ROM they would need to set their CD ROM drive up as a trusted location.
    If you were delivering from a network LAN, they would need to set that location up too.
    So for what you are trying to do, web delivery is best.

    I've installed PC54G3 cards on my computer and the computer of my daughter. The PC of my Daughter runs Win XP SP2 and the card is a replacement for another WLAN card from trendnet because for raising the security level to WPA-PSK with AES (the Trendware Cards only were able to receive WEP). The router is a Belkin F5D7230-4.
    The Trendware Cards worked fine for nearly 18 months, but now I've got a problem.
    The card on my PC is working without any problems (on XP and also on Vista RC1, although I can only use the windows wlan configuration on Vista)
    On the PC  of my daughter it works also fine, as long as I am logged on as administrator. But she must not log on as admin, just as user. And now the problem starts. some times the card loses connectivity for a short period of time, and it doesnt get it back. I have to restart the MSi-configuration Utility as Admin (runas /user) because the profile site is not available as user. No profile site-no connectivity.
    Adding my daughter to the admins  solves the problem.
    How can I solve this WITHOUT giving her admin-rights?

    Today I've bought new LinkSys EA4500.  And now it is a promlem with RDP into my home network (not from outside). My iMac can't to connect to PC by RDP and so also iPad can't.  The PC is working properly and at this moment I can see it by web access from iMac at this moment.  
    Last three years I used a LinkSys WRT340 and it worked without problem in my network. Wherw may be a problem with setups EA4500 and what is solution?

    It was reported to me and I could confirm that when user jdoe2 grants user jdoe permission to check Availability but has Availability disabled for anonymous ("Anyone can view my availability" is unchecked), jdoe cannot see jdoe2's availability in UWC but it works in IWC. I noticed this in the http.log:

    Why is UWC using anonymous?At face value this appears to be a limitation in the product. I've logged a new bug for this issue:
    bug #6832323 - "Check Availability functionality uses "anonymous" for free/busy check vs. logged in users uid"
    Can I fix this?If you want this bug fixed in UWC/CE, you must log a Sun Support request to have the bug escalated. If you don't escalate the bug it WILL NOT be fixed.

    GPS seems to work on all my other Nokias without sim card (although obviusly it takes much much longer to locate me) but on the N900 I don't seem to get a gps fix at all.

    If you change SIM it remembers settings from first one inserted so you may need to go to Settings > Location - disable then enable again.
    Sorry without trawling way back through posts, I don't know where you are located, for example "Assisted GPS" won't work with TMO USA.

    Been driving around the country this weekend and noticed that with no Edge/3G available (though had it previously to load the Google map) GPS will not locate. Is it possible that Apple has made Location Services dependent on Edge/3G? If so, doesn't this contradict the whole reason for having GPS?

    EDGE/3G provide the "assistance" part of A-GPS. The GPS will work without that assistance, but requires significantly more time to localize you (can take several minutes), and requires line-of-sight to three satellites. The cell data connection helps overcome both of those limitations (in addition to providing the Google map to plot your location on).

    My ipad2 no longer works without wifi. I pay Verizon for data but it won't work away from a hotspot.  Verizon says this is an apple fix.     Hi Jonathan,
    I will suggest you to create a Package of only 1 app like Dreamweaver and include CC Desktop app in the Package. Deploy the Package on the client machines so it will install the software along with CC Desktop app and the users can download the rest of the app's later.
    Deploying package will also install Remote Update Manager on each client machine, you can invoke it remotely through command line or from remote management tools.

  • Intel WiFi/WiMAX 5150: HOTKEY doesn't work without Access Connections

    Our company has several T410i 2522-P38 notebooks with Intel 5150 WiFi/WiMAX cards, all still running XP. Recently I had to reinstall OS on one machine. There was a minor problem that Lenovo support site download page for this machine offers Intel WiMAX 6205 instead of 5150, but I have driver package stored. However, after installing OS, drivers and Lenovo packages I've found that in Fn+F5 window I see only Bluetooth adapter, WiFi and WiMAX don't appear, yet they are correctly shown in Device Manager and WiFi works (couldn't check WiMAX).
    This is not first time I face such problem, so I tried to solve it in usual way: uninstalled and reinstalled Hotkey package and drivers (Power Management driver and WiFi), tried several different versions of drivers and Hotkey - all to no success. Whatever I was doing, only BT was seen in Fn+F5.
    Finally I ended up reverse-engineering Hotkey, and got quite unexpected result: it simply doesn't know WiFi driver present on the notebook. Hotkey package (namely, TpFnF5.exe file which creates Fn+F5 window) has a hard-coded list of known adpater Hardware IDs. Intel WiFi Link 5150 present on the notebook has ID VEN_8086&DEV_423D&SUBSYS_13168086, while closest match in the list was VEN_8086&DEV_423D&SUBSYS_13118086. As an experiment, I've patched TpFnF5.exe to replace "13118086" with "13168086", and voila - WiFi appears in Fn+F5, and can be switched on and off! I've checked TpFnF5.exe from several different versions of Hotkey package, and Hardware ID of our adapter wasn't present anywhere.
    Ok, the reason is found, but how all other identical machines work?! I checked another notebook, and found the difference: it had Access Connections installed, while the troubled machine had only Hotkey but not AC. It turns out that Access Connections has it's own executable for Fn+F5 dialog, AcFnF5.exe. When you press Fn+F5 with AC installed, AcFnF5.exe is launched instead of TpFnF5.exe which is called when you have only Hotkey. And AcFnF5.exe knows how to handle our adapter. I've installed AC on troubled notebook, and Fn+F5 window immediately showed all three adapters.
    Also, regarding WiMAX, it looks to me like this functionality was simply intentionally blocked in Hotkey. But I didn't dig further in that direction.
