Captivate Help

Recently started using Adobe Captivate CS3.
There doesn't seem to be any help files or tutorials
anywhere. In BRidge it doesn't even seem to exist. Is this on
purpose?

Are you saying you can't click the Help menu in the Captivate
application? You should have a built in help file available when
you do that. Additionally, clicking the Help menu will also reveal
a list of "Getting Started Tutorials". I'm guessing you haven't
found those either.
I don't believe Captivate is part of Bridge.

F1 key brings up Captivate Help

I have a simulation that requires the user to use F1. In fact
throughout the course the user will have to use Function keyf F1 -
F9. I am already stuck at F1 so I thought I should research before
moving on. As some of you probably know, F1 brings up Captivate
help. In previous posts it looks like everyones solution is to
insert a click box to bring focus to the slide. This does not work.
I have a click box on nearly every screen so this is definitely not
the problem. The click box gives F1 as a shortcut option but on
playback it always pulls up Captivate Help.
I found a post from a user that solved this issue using code
but I know nothing about inserting this code. The last post on this
topic was a year ago. Has anyone else come up with an answer to
this?

Hi all
The purpose of my last post was simply to point out that F1
cannot be depended upon to work, as was implied by the statement
To work around this, you will have to force the PC's focus on
the Flash movie itself (your Captivate creation) before pressing
the F1 keyboard key.. Kim and others would have probably read
that statement as implying that F1
should actually work, but for some reason wouldn't.
No, I had no other suggestion to offer. Instead of attempting
to convince Kim that F1 should be abandoned and a different
keypress substituted instead, I made the assumption that a valid
reason existed for wanting to use F1 and it really wasn't desired
to find a substitute keypress.
All my posts are intended to be helpful in some way. I'm sure
a poll of users here would agree with that. I really wish that were
true for all of them I read in on-line forums. Perhaps someday they
will. But until that time comes, have yourself an enjoyable
HannuChristmaKwanzaaYule.

Is there any other way to get Adobe Captivate help?

Hi guys,
is there any other way to get Adobe Captivate specific help? I've posted a question twice with no help, it's very specific, so no one here might actually know the solution. I'm wondering though, since the chat is obviously not for Captivate users with product or service questions.
Is there a tech team I can somehow contact? We really need an answer to the problem.

P.S. I'll post the problem again here:
We publish mp4 training videos as HTML5 content and have the problem that we need to restrict the player to only play/pause.
Adobe Captivate 7 works fantastic for us on almost all devices, many Androids, many browsers, and even on iPad. Captivate, after adding the video as a multi-slide video to one slide and publishing it as HTML5 content, only lets the student play and pause the video - just what we need.
But then we test it on iPhone and the iPhone's internal quicktime player recognizes the mp4 video and kicks in, gives the student all the functions they want, totally overrides the HTML5 published Captivate restricted playback options.
Is there ANY way we can get around that? Any function or box we haven't checked before publishing the HTML5 content?
We would even be happy, if the video wouldn't play on iPhone - just as long as they can't use it to fast forward to the end of the video.
Does anyone here know how to bypass the internal iPhone 5 player?

By the way, I have updated to the newest Captivate 7 version and am using iOS version 7.0.4.
Again, it's fine on iPad, but not on iPhone 5.

Can't Access Adobe Captivate Help files

Hi,
I've installed Adobe Captivate 5 and upgraded it to 5.01.624. Addionally, I noticed that I can't access my Help files.I've also noticed that I can't access help from Photoshop CS5 as well. However, I've installed the latest Adobe AIR 2.6. I've checked the Common File folder and I have an Adobe Air folder with a folder labelled Versions and a file labelled sentinel. I'm on Windows 7. Any help would be appreciated.

Adobe Captivate Help | Insert audio

From the manual:
"You can attach an audio file to a button or click box and have the audio play when the user clicks the button or click box instead of when the button or click box is displayed. To do this, create the button or click box and select the Success Caption option. Make the Success Caption transparent and do not add any text. Add an audio file to the Success Caption."
Is this the method for adding audio to a smart shape, click box, or any other element? If so, I got as far as the last sentence: "Add an audio file to the Success Caption." That's what I want to know how to do -- add audio so that when a little smart shape is clicked, it plays a sound. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time finding the instructions for something so basic.
Any help appreciated!!

1.You can download Neo Speech voices from here:
Windows 32-bit: http://www.adobe.com/go/captivate6_voices_installer
Windows 64-bit: http://www.adobe.com/go/captivate_voices_installer_win64
2. After the Downloading is completed, you have to extract that .zip file to the same location. That will have one payloads folder and AdobePatchinstaller.exe, Double click on AdobePatchinstaller.exe to start the installation.
3. While installing it will start the Adobe Application Manager to Update Captivate.

Adobe Captivate help me plz

i m new to adobe captivate4 using first time... i need to insert a swf movie into adobe captivate 4 and have to generate scorm file for my elearning project... i am able to insert swf files... i inserted 10 swf file in 10 different file the problem here is... When i look preview in Brower it comes in right way it means all slides running one after another but when i happen to see preview in "project" when the first slide runs all other slides also start running.. for example first slide runs for 10s actual(20s movie) when i select second slide 10sec of movie already passed (it should start from first).. Its giving me great trouble to to finish my project... plz help me with solution to finish my project.........

Adobe Captivate Help | Shared actions (Cp 7)

In the Help-document about Shared Actions this described work flow 'To apply the same shared action to multiple objects, group them and then apply the action." seems not to be functional. For a group or for a selection of objects (of the same type) the option 'Execute Shared Action' is grayed out, only a normal action seems to be possible. Is this a bug in the documentation?

Yep. But it will only likely get to you in the next version released for NON subscription or ASA customers. With 6.1 Adobe was giving a preview of the functionality they would be including in your next release. Either way, whether you upgraded to the subscription edition or waited for the next paid upgrade, you were always going to be paying something to get this new functionality. 6.1 users just got it earlier than everyone else. That was Adobe's decision. It certainly hasn't been a popular one.

Is there any way to swap out the 'Widget Note' icon? It bad artwork.
I have a cool custom button that I wanted to bring up the Note widget. Also, if I put the Note Widget on top of my custom button, it blocks the button's glow for the mouse over state.
Any ideas?

Hi there,
Captivatge 7 will not recognize the objects of imported Power point Slide to be used in Drag and Drop wizard.
If you want to insert drag and drop interaction as a part of quiz, then you will have to insert Captivate objects on that slide, like : Text Captions, Smart Shapes (not used as button), or images etc., then launch Drag and Drop interaction wizard, and also minimum two objects should be there on that slide, one as source and other as destination.
It does not matter if the Power Point presentation is linked or not, (if linked option would be checked then the later changes made in the presentation in MS Power Point can be updated in Captivate), so linked has no relation with it.
