Captivate needs 64-bit system

My install of Captivate failed because my system is a 32-bit system and it sounds like I need a 64-bit system. Is there anything I can do?

Actually, I did tell you about my system a little. It's a 32-bit system. I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise edition.
I also read the system requirements which did not say anything about needing a 64-bit system. But, when I tried installing it, I got the following error below. I probably need to download a different version, but this was the only one I saw on the download page. There were no options to download a 32-bit vs. a 64-bit version of the product.

  • How Install Adobe Type Manager On 32 bit system

Installing Adobe Type Manager on 32 bit system gives error message saying need 16 bit system.

Thank you very very much.  I bought these fonts from Adobe many years ago on a 3.5 inch disk which I still have.  I assumed they were Adobe fonts.  I have saved the disk contents on my network drive.  I could use the Control Panel install from my network drive using my 6 year old desk top computer running Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3.
The Add Fonts from the control panel on my Lenovo SL510 running the same level Windows would allow me to point to the Font directory on the network drive but would not list the fonts.  I had to move the the fonts into a newfont directory under C:\Windows.  Then the Add Fonts would list the fonts and install them.  I add all this because there have been over 130 views of this subject.
The question is Answered.  Thank you.

Hard drive died.  Cannot uninstall CS3 to remove copy registration. Need to reinstall on new laptop with windows 7 64 bit system,  Need to get activation code for CS3 Web Premium.

    Thank you Bob.
Just to clarify - in terms of backing up one set of these, would that just be so I had it on disk and didn't need to re-download from Adobe if the installation got corrupted somehow?  Or do I need a backup for some other reason?
    Thanks

thanks for that, but having tried the various options, still not managed to organize a refund, or anything for that matter, been on hold now for 25 minutes, first time was for 17 minutes, spoke to someone who was putting me thorough, to then have automated message saying issue could not be dealt with and it then hung up! been on to live chat and this was posted: -

Which would be funny if i havent already spent 3 1/2 hours trying to sort this. I am really not enjoying my adobe experience, never known such a difficult company to speak to a 'live' person. Now on hold for 29 minutes and need to go out so nothing to be done now until tomorrow. If there is a real person from Adobe reading this, i would appreciate a call/direct email to get this resolved. now 31 minutes and I have to hang up as need to go!!! aarrgghhh!!!

  • Captivate 4 doesn't work with windows 7  - 64 bit system

I've tried to install captivate 4 on my pc with processor Intel core 2 duo, Microsoft Windows 7 Home premium, system based on 64 bit system.
When you try to make a simulation, after registration you cannot see the slides. If you try also to open a cp4 file, it's impossible to show the storyboard.
Please help me. Does exist a patch?

    Antonio,
The FAQ section on the Adobe webpages for Captivate 4 and 5 clearly state that the program is only certified for 32-bit versions of Windows.  Why?  Don't ask me.  64-bit Windows platforms have been around for 3 years now and Adobe is surely taking their sweet time acknowledging that fact.
Here's the issue, as testing within our company has demonstrated...
The program (Captivate 4, specifically) works on a 64-bit PC (with the latest patch), providing you are recording a 32-bit application.
When attempting to record a 64-bit application, only one frame is captured.  After initiating the recording, whether in automatic or manual mode, all keyboard and mouse input is ignored.  The only response you can get is clicking the tray icon to end the recording session.
However, full-motion recording of 64-bit applications does work, since the camera runs continuously regardles of keyboard and mouse activity.
I have been told by another forum member that still frames can be captured by "clicking the red recording square," though I haven't tested this method yet and it doesn't address going in and out of full-motion recording.
    Cheers

  • Need help networking a photosmart 7960 to a windows 7 64 bit system from an XP Home 32 bit

I'm trying to network an HP photosmart 7960 to a wireless notebook with Win 7 64 bit where the printer is connected via usb to a windows home 32 bit computer. Have downloaded vista 64 bit drivers for the printer but can't install them on the windows 32 bit system. Have installed the drivers on the win 7 system but can't locate the inf file when trying to add a network printer. Any help would be appreciated.

I sympathize with your dilemma.  I have the same situation.  I have a Media Center 2002XP SP3 desktop with 3 printers connected.  Photosmart 7960, PSC 750xi all in one, and a Deskjet 870cse(a vintage 1996).  I just purchased a HP dv7-3188cl notbook WIN7 64bit.  My home network has worked flawlessly for years, with at least 4 wired and 3 wireless computers connected, networking 6 printers.
I have resolved my network problems with the printers.  They are connected to the host machine running MC2002 XP SP3.  I tried to install the printers through the network wizard by adding the  printers through WIN7.  Only the 14 year old printer installed successfully.  The photosmart 7960 and PSC 750xi did NOT.  Windows Update could not find the drivers for the install.  None are available on HP website either.
After some web research, I have solved my problems. At first, I followed the add printer protocol from the WIN7 laptop.  Error messages resulted and the USB printers would not install   error0x00000214.  The USB printers failed to install while connected to the host XP machine.  The 870cse is on LPT1 and it did network successfully when attached to the host  XPcomputer.
The drivers needed for the 7960 and 750xi (and probably many other HP printers) will install if you connect the printer to the WIN7 machine and follow the setup.  Windows update will load the needed drivers if they are available.  I sucessfully installed both printers on the WIN7 notebook, printed a test page on each, and printed other docs from the WIN7 notebook while they were connected to the WIN7 notebook.  These drivers are 64bit.  Both printers worked well when connected via USB to the WIN7 machine.
I then disconnected the printers from the WIN7 notebook and reconnected them to the original host XP desktop.
With the host desktop running, and the notebook running wirelessly, I went to (on WIN7)  START--Devices and Printers.
Click ADD A PRINTER at the top of the window, then click LOCAL PRINTER ( NOT network!!!)
Then in the following Printer port window choose  'CREATE A NEW PORT--SELECT LOCAL PORT amd click next.
In the Port name box, enter the name of the port, ie the path.  For example if the host machine with the printers attached is named WINXPMACHINE (as named on the network), enter \\WINXPMACHINE\    Then add immediately after that the Printer's name as it is on the XP machine( right click the printer in the Printer and Fax folder on the XP machine, select sharing and find the network share name for the printer).  It may look like \\WINXPMACHINE\Printerx where x is a number corresponding to the printer.  Then click next and OK
The next box asks to choose the printer from a list.  Select the printer you want to network( I have only done this with HP printers) and click next
The next dialogue box asks to use the driver currently installed(recommended)--click next -- do NOT replace the driver( it was installed when the printer was directly connected to your WIN7 machine)  Type in the name you want to use to identify the printer on your WIN7 machine.  The printer will install.  Print a test page to confirm installation.

     Hope it helps.

  • I can't get Adobe to download on my 64 bit system, what do I need to do?

  • Just answer a simply question for me! Is the latest release of FF a 64-bit system? Flash has issues w/64bit; needs 32bit browser. I've had to uninstall. No where do I find the answer

Been using FF for many years. Then, it wouldn't work with 64bit systems. IE sucked too, but I had to use it. So, just got off IE and back to FF.
I was having Flash issues. Uninstalled it only to find out that it will not operate on a 64bit browser, but I can install a beta version of Flash, essentially. But, find no clear statement saying that FF is 64bit but will support 32bit. Even so, Flash will not operate as it should on FF.
Can I install the beta version of FLASH because FF is a full 64bit system?

Thanks. I thought FF was a 64-bit system. I'll reinstall FLASH and see if I can solve the problem. Since posting the issue I've been through my system with a fine toothed comb cleaning, reinstalling things and making room. Maybe all the work will pay off and FLASH will install without a problem. Thanks guys.

  • NeoSpeech voices in Captivate - need help installing

I have recently purchased Captivate 7. I have downloaded each of the items on the downloads page and 'extracted' them as indicated by the prompts. I have tried to install the NeoSpeech voices again and again, without success. These are all the folders and files I now have:
    Adobe Captivate 7
    Adobe eLearning Assets
    Cp7_win_assets_installer
    Cp7_win64_voices_installer
    NeoSpeech Voices (64 Bit)
Captivate_7_x64_Neo_Content_LS21.7z (and 'application' by the same file name)
Please tell me what I need to do to to be able to use the NeoSpeech voices. At the moment, only a Microsoft voice is available in the TTS function.

    Hi doralsuncoast
Captivate 7 works the same way. However, if you are on 64-bit system and use NeoSpeech user dictionary, you should be aware of one bug.
When you run UserDicEng_<VoiceArtist>, it crashes with an error message. The workaround for that can be found in:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5651747#5651747
To the best of my knowledge, Captivate 7 doesn't support any other voices other than NeoSpeech.

  • How do I retrieve a hWnd required to draw an image created by an ActiveX object on a windows 7 64-bit system?

I'm calling to the NaturalPoint Optitrack SDK using activex controls and am trying to pull tracking data from a trackIR 5.  I have connected to the camera and wanted to start by just viewing a captured frame.  The Optitrack COM provides a function to draw the frame, but needs a hWnd handle for a window to draw to.  I tried to call FindWindow from the user32.dll, but only found FindWindowA, FindWindowExA, FindWindowW, and FindWindowExW.  I'm using Labview 8.6 (32-bit) on a Windows 7 64 bit system (trying to figure out how access the universities liscense manger to install LV2010 64 bit).  Thanks
    Jarad

The other functions are variants, depending on how you're dealing with strings:
    FindWindowW : Unicode names
    FindWindowA: ANSI names
FindWindowEx: Searches child windows for the window that has the specified name. You can provide a parent window handle as a starting point. The "A" and "W" follow the same Unicode/ANSI names as FindWindow.
You'd want to use FindWindowA or FindWindowExA since LabVIEW doesn't support Unicode.

  • USB Hotsync needs 32-bit hardware or software? or both?

I made the mistake of buying a new computer without knowing I needed 32-bit to do a USB Hotsync.  My new computer is 64-bit hardware. However, I got a 3-year service package from HP and they've offered to send me a 32-bit Windows XP OS installation disk if I want it. They said it will work, you can install a 32-bit OS on a 64-bit computer.
Their question is, and my question for you is, do I need a 32-bit HARDWARE to do the USB sync, or will the 32-bit OPERATING SYSTEM (software) on a 64-bit computer do the trick? Does anyone know? Palm wouldn't tell me ("unsupported device"), and I can't find it anywhere.
I want to avoid doing the bluetooth thing if possible, since reading that people have problems syncing docs-to-go with bluetooth and I don't want to have to buy a bluetooth device and have to try to figure out which one will work with my particular set up. I'm pretty addicted to docs-to-go.
BTW I have a Zire 72 that I can't live without (poor memory/organizational skills) and my new computer is an HP EliteBook 8440p currently running 64-bit Windows 7.
I'd rather avoid installing a new OS (and reinstalling everything else) if it's not going to help.
Thanks to anyone who has an idea, suggestion, or experience to share.
    Post relates to: Zire 72

You nailed it, thanks. It turns out that my son had been tinkering with the speech function...and the sound was turned down so I wasn't hearing anything when S was pressed. Thanks much.

  • On a Windows 7 64-bit system, inserted video (mp4) in 2010 ppt, "Quicktime player unavailable"

Need to give a presentation on a Windows 7 64-bit system. Quicktime, latest version is installed. Get to the slides with video and when "loading ..." the video the message below the picture ends up being "Quicktime is unavailable". The video does not work, never starting. The video works in Quicktime on the Windows 7 computer no problem when playing in Quicktime directly and not trying to play it from the ppt. Video is an mp4. Need help.

Apple engineers generally don't read these forums. The best way to get information to them is to use the feedback page:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/feedback
or open a Developer account (the "Online" program is free) and use Apple's Bug Reporter (this is usually the best way for an issue like this but you may not want to open a Developer account just for this purpose).

Just installed CC on my PC, Windows 7, 64 bit system. Not seeing any applications on the desktop or installation folder. However, all the resource files are present in the installation folder. What am I doing wrong?
I've installed three times with no luck. I downloaded the Creative Cloud Packager off the licensing site: https://licensing.adobe.com. I unpacked and choose my applications. The install seemed to be successful, but I don't so any of the applications anywhere.

    Hi,
Creating package doesn't mean it will install the product,
You will need to install the package now. Please follow the instructions mentioned in the below articles
Creative Cloud Help | Creating or editing packages
Creative Cloud Help | Deploying packages
Please let me know if it doesn't help.

  • Safe to delete files after Master Suite CS6 installation on Windows 7 , 64 bit system?

I installed Master Suite CS6 on a new Windows 7 , 64 bit system computer.
The computer has a small (120GB) SSD which has the operating system, and I'm trying to install the rest of my programs and data on larger, standard drives.
    I just noticed that under C:/Users/Robert/Adobe CS6, I have a 6,504,448 KB MasterCollection_CS6_LS16.7Z file (Type 7Z File) and a MasterCollection_CS6_LS16 1031KB Application file
Can I delete the 6.5 GB  7z file or is that needed for operation?
What about the smaler one - is that for launching the applications or was that just to launch the installers?
I also have an 8.16 GBAdobe CS6 Master Collection folder on my Desktop (which is actually a 1TB regular hard drive as opposed to C:)
Inside this folder are two directories: Fonts (211 MB with lots of fonts inside), and Adobe CS6 (with subdirectories deploy; packages; payloads; resources; and a Set-up application 2163 KB
DO I need to save that folder, or was that just for installing the Master Suite?
    Thanks for the help.

    Thank you Bob.
Just to clarify - in terms of backing up one set of these, would that just be so I had it on disk and didn't need to re-download from Adobe if the installation got corrupted somehow?  Or do I need a backup for some other reason?
    Thanks
