Captivate playbar double-skipping slides

I am having issues with the default captivate playbar double-skipping slides when moving forwards or backwards in the playbar in a SCORM odule converted from pptx.
I have tried with different playbars in skins and having the same problem.
Please help!

Hi there
That's typical behavior for the playbar. It traverses from slide to slide.
What you could do is to forego the Captivate supplied playbar and use your own buttons that you program as you want. You simply insert them on each slide and configure as desired.

  • Forward button on Captivate playbar

    Is there a way to highlight the Forward button in the Captivate playbar when the end of a slide is reached? I've noticed that other tools seem to have this capability and I would like to do something similar with my Captivate projects.

    Thanks for the suggestions to use navigation buttons (I understood that it was implied to turn off the playbar). However, our team recently decided to stop using navigation buttons on the slides and to use the playbar because we liked the look and feel much more. The other tools cannot do what Captivate can, so it is not feasible to use them to accomplish this. We just wanted a way to let the user know (other than the fact that the narration stopped) that they can or should progress to the next slide. I don't want the navigation to be hidden or disabled before the end of the slide because there may be instances (like in a course review), where they need to move forward quickly. It's probably only a few seconds before they realize they should move on, but a new user passed on that feedback, so we wanted to see if there was a way to address it.

  • No Audio in internet explorer, captivate playbar close button not working

    I did a simulation video in adobe captivate 5.5, on uploading it to Netdimension s LMS, the course plays audio via firefox but wont play audio from Internet explorer.
    Also Firefox autoresumes from where the user last stops but won't in Internet explorer. Also the exit button in my captivate playbar doesnt work neither in my internet explorer browser nor firefox.
    I also noticed that the LMS didnt mark the course completed after taking all the slides.
    Please help!

    Hi there
    My guess is that you are opening those from version 3 in a different manner than you are the version 4 sims. As I understand it (and as explained in the link) the ability to close a window is dependent on the browser as well as the manner in which the window was opened to begin with.
    I suggest you begin by scrutinizing what is different about the version 3 files that you are seeing. Where are you running them from? How are you displaying them?

  • How do you display skipped slides in slide switcher?

    Does anyone know how to display skipped slides in Keynote's slide switcher? I'd like to have the option of displaying skipped slides during presentations. This would be much easier than exiting out of presentation mode, right clicking the slide desired slide, selecting "don't skip slide", and re-entering presentation mode.
    It is possible to place all skipped slides at the end of the presentation and then use slide switcher to navigate to those slides as they are needed, but that dimishes the potential of skipped slides. There is also the option of placing hyperlinks to skipped slides, but convilutes the slides and the slide making process to quickly if there are many hidden slides.

    It's easy to become flustered while speaking if one cannot find their desired illustration quickly
    Absolutly agree, often had the "where am I"? feeling.
    Of course, adding multiple bottons adds clutter and would also encourage audience members to ask questions about the visible buttons.
    The technique I use here is to blank the screen using the projectors  remote control; this way there is nothing showing on the scren and I can go  look for the required slide in the menu without the audience seeing it.
    If its only 10 slides a small button at the bottom of the screen is unseen by the audience.
    I also often use a paper crib sheet included with my presentation notes which list slide number and content for this purpose.   If I need the slide with the pie chart, the sheet tells me its slide 84 so press;    8 & 4 & enter on the keyboard  enter and slide switcher instantly jumps to that slide.

  • Show skipped slides in Light Table?

    Does anyone know how to display skipped slides in Light Table (or any other) view)?
    I bought this new Mac mainly so I can use Keynote in my corporate training presentations.
    But it takes too long to tailor each presentation, since I need to see at a glance all the slides that are skipped, instead of opening each skipped slide one at a time.
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Yes, you can enlarge all of the slides by clicking on the icon in the lower left.
    Then choose medium or large.

  • Presenter 10 skipping slides

    When I create a project from within Power Point 2013 using the Presenter tab and the record button I have slides skipped.  I can run it several times and get random results.  Not sure what is causing this.   On reading the suggestions here I tried opening Presenter 10 instead of Power Point and creating the project using the same set of Power Point slides and so far I have not had any skipped slides.  I am not sure why this is happening.   I am running Presenter 10 on a subscription so I should be getting the latest updates.  I also checked Power Point to make sure that I have all the updates.  Any suggestions as to why this is happening?   The Power Point set I am using is small, only 6 slides so it should not be s size issue.

    Just spent some time chatting with tech support.  For some reason they have never heard of this problem but it seems to be all over the internet.  Anyway their solution was to right click on the Power Point icon and set properties to run as the administrator.  Then put all the source files on the same drive (now on the "C" drive).   OK, I did all that and got the same results.  Next idea was to create a short test presentation so I created a 5 slide test and Presenter skipped slide 3.  On the suggestion from another user I looked at the recorded video (not the edited video) and you can see the missing slide flash by.  It is on screen less than a second.  So it has something to do with the recording.

  • How to do prevent users from skipping slides?

    Hi, I’m an Adobe Captivate noob, so I’d really appreciate some help.
    I want to lock the user’s navigation option, in such a way that if the user hasn’t finished a slide yet, he or she will not be able to proceed to the next slide or to other slides in the project. How do I do this? Is this even possible? If yes, what are my options?
    I’m using Adobe Captivate 4.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,
    Why should you be ignored? We all once were 'rookies' and this forum with his fine moderator, Captiv8r. Experienced users have helped me a lot when I was starting with Captivate
    If you only deactivate the Next button in the playbar, wouldn't that achieve your goal? But of course, the user could just drag the slider to skip in that case.  If you want complete control, you will have to create your own navigation on the slides I think. Add a Back and an Next button, but set the Next button on the timeline of the slide very late on that slide. Just tried this: slide has a duration of 3sec. I created a Next button, with Success action 'Go to next slide' and changed the Timing settings:
    appear after 2.9sec
    duration = 0.1sec
    pause after 0.1sec
    The button will appear when the playhead reaches almost the end of the slide and will have this slide paused until the user clicks.
    You will need a Back button with more default settings.
    Lilybiri
    PS: sorry, had to look for your version. You can easily copy this button, the select all the slides in the filmstrip and paste it on all. The timing and the success action will be the same on all slides.

  • CP8 with HTML5 Objects Skips Slides on iOS

    I converted some PDFs to HTML flipbooks. I loaded those to a web server and linked to them in a Captivate 8 responsive presentation.
    The "course" looks great - except for one thing.
    On iOS devices, the browser skips the intro slide (even though there's a button on it) and goes straight to the HTML5 page and ignores the "course" completely.  The learner has to press the "play" button to start the course as is traditional in mobile. That button is presented in the course shell, seemingly at the outset of the course. The learner can press the large play button in the middle of the page (which is an iOS thing) or the one on the playbar, but once that happens it just blows through the course straight to the HTML. This happens in both Safari and Chrome in iOS. This does not happen in any browser on a desktop, nor does it happen in Android.
    In all cases on mobile, once the HTML5 content is launched, you can't just return to the course content (which also seems odd).
    I am just wondering if there is a way for me to force it to let my learners interact with the slides, and / or get back to the content.
    Note that I have tried having it launch a new window, and it crashes when I do so.
    Thanks,
    Laura

    thanks. i see i need to explain better:
    I am describing the browser window as it appears if you simple display the html5 file that is created by publishing. I have not added a single button or feature to control movement. my project consists of slides with audio that advance after so many seconds, a captured screen sesssion, more slides, and a quiz. The buttons for play, forward, backward, and the horizontal progress bar with the 'button' (upward pointing triangle) are all native to the html that is being displayed and 'played.'
    Now, seeing that displayed, a user would be tempted to hit these buttons and to move the linear time by grabbing and moving the triangle pointer. sometimes this works perfectly, but sometimes moving the pointer causes audio to disappear and it will not play again on any slide. is this a clear description of the problem ? I do not understand some of your comments, but it seems that we were not on the same page, so it seems ok not to understand. FYI, my published  ~10 minute sessions are about ~20 MB for all files and folders.
    8.1 doesn't exist. i see, my mistake. i meant 8.0.1
    I do not need anything but a screen with 1300x720 resolution, so i will try going to SWF. I am recording a session to teach a software tool that is based on the eclipse environment, and the screen capture includes many graphics and much text, so any scaling whatsoever makes it ugly and hard to read. At one point i may have been thinking of scalable windows, but i realize now it is the last thing i need. The quality of the capture is excellent with 1300x720 ( and since 720 is native for powerpoint, i have no scaling in either ppoint or the captured screen sessions.

  • Playback Bar Skipping Slides

    At first I had put buttons on all my slides to manually move
    forward and back. But then I needed a pause that would start and
    stop the audio, so I selected a playback bar with the the Skin
    setting. To make the slide stop, however I still had to have a
    button that paused the slide after the audio was done.
    Over all this mostly works.
    However it seems that occasionally pressing the next button
    in the skin playback bar will cause Captivate to just "flash" over
    a slide. I see it blink on for just a moment, and then it is gone.
    I've checked the ones that it does it to, and they aren't always
    the same, and I don't see anything that could be causing the
    problem. They are set to display for a certain length of time, they
    have a button to pause them, and so on.
    Any idea where to look?

    I think I've figured out what the problem is.
    I want the user to stay on a slide until they click the
    playbar "next" button.
    Since there is no way to just stop a slide by itself. I've
    put a button which pauses the slide onto the slide.
    That button is "hidden" by being underneath the place where
    the playbar will show up.
    It seems to work when I publish it directly out of Captivate
    But when I then load that swf into Articulate, both the
    playbar next and the next next are being pressed and that skips me
    ahead.
    It seems the answer is to make a button that pauses the
    slide, but has an action of nothing.
    Does that seem sensible? Does anybody else have ideas?

  • Total interface design in Captivate, not just "PPT slide"?

    I'm reviewing the possibility of using Captivate for a major project (>$200K). i've looked at the tutorial videos but....
    1. All the info is slanted at creaintg PPT-type slides for content.
    2. For the purposes of this post, an e-Learning site is composed of : a banner header, a left menu, a content area and a navigation bar. So...
    3. How do/ can you create a left menu which communicates with a SCORM-compliant LMS, to, for example, change colour for each menu item as each module is completed?
    4. How do/can you create navigational elements OUTSIDE the PPT-type slide area, because they are meta-information not specific to a particular slide? For example: change language, references, glossary. These items should not be on a content slide, as they are global.
    See attached image for what I want to do.
    Any advice gratefully received.

    1) Under Captivate 6 Menu, click on Project -> Table of Contents
    2) Check "Show TOC"
    3) Click on "Settings"
    4) Make changes under "Theme" sections, Screenshot below :
    Note : I need to double check for Visited Links

  • Captivate Playbar or my own (basic non urgent question)

    Hi
    If anyone has time to answer this question I would be grateful.
    What are the advantages or disadvantages of using Captivate (Cap5) own playbar instead of me using my own forward, back buttons etc.
    What do you professionals do?

    Depends on the need...
    Sometimes we just pick a default/standard playback bar and include it.
    Sometimes we lightly modify an existing one.
    On occasion, we have to make our own custom one (but one still based on a default bar...thankfully Adobe provides the source FLAs for them).
    We almost never bypass the playback bar altogether and put our own standard navigation on the slides.
    For one, there's really no advantage to that over the overall functionality CP's playback bar offers.
    Also, coding those buttons can be difficult.
    Plus you have to put the buttons on every slide. Or you can try 'show for rest of project' but that doesn't seem to work well (fairly, we've not tried that since CP 2 or 3). I don't think you can put nav buttons on the Master Slide in CP5 and above...?
    We do, of course, create custom buttons on individual slides as needed - various interactions and such - but for overall navigation, far easier to either use a standard playback bar ("skin"), or modify one through the skin editor, or create your own custom one entirely if you know Flash well enough.

  • Mute Bug in Captivate Playbar Widget Templates

    I believe that I have found a bug that is persistent throughout all of the Captivate 5 playbar widgets (i.e MountainBluePlayBar.swf, PlayBar.swf, etc..).
    Description:
    When using any custom playbar widget in Captivate, the "mute" icon changes erratically on slides regardless of whether or not the sound is muted when moving forward or backwards through the course.
    Steps to recreate:
    I wanted to create a custom playbar for my organization using flash AS3.  I began by modifying the source of an existing playbar in the following folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 5\Gallery\Widgets\Source.  The only changes that I made to the widget were cosmetic graphical changes.  I published my playbar widget and placed it on the master slide so it would be visible on all slides.  While previewing the course, if I click the 'mute' button, the audio mutes and unmutes as expected.  However, if I move forward or backward through the slides, the mute icon toggles erratically.  I have found this to be true both with my own custom widget, and the examples that shipped with Captivate.
    Workaround:
    I have found a workaround that displays the correct mute icon status. However, it requires testing the status of the Captivate's cpCmndMute variable on each frame(onEnterFrame), so it's not the most elegant solution.  I added the following lines in red to the pbEnterFrame function on the playbarMc movie clip.
    function pbEnterFrame(evt:Event){
        if(varHand != null){
            var per = Math.ceil(varHand.rdinfoCurrentFrame / varHand.rdinfoFrameCount * 100);
            var wid = pBarMc.bound.width * per / 100
            pBarMc.pb.width = wid;
            if(!isDraOn){
                pBarMc.thumb_mc.x=pBarMc.pb.x+pBarMc.pb.width
            //Start dirty, dirty hack - Chack each frame to see if parent movie is muted, hide or show mute clips
                 //depending on the outcome.
            if(varHand.cpCmndMute == 0){
                pbcAudioOff_mc.visible = true;
                pbcAudioOn_mc.visible = false;
            }else{
                pbcAudioOff_mc.visible = false;
                pbcAudioOn_mc.visible = true;
            //End Hack
    Please let me know if I'm missing something, or if this is fact a bug.  I will just use my workaround for now.

    Hi swmangold,
    We are able to reproduce the aforesaid issue.
    We request you to log a bug for the same at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&product=5.

  • Problems with Slide Navigator while skipping slides

    When I was running my show, I had to skipped my slides twice. For example, when I am at slide 3, I pressed "+" and went to a slide 7; then I had to press "+" again to go to slide 9. When I am going to slide 9, slide 3 would actually appear for a split second then slide 9 would appear. All these slides has "build" in it. When I tried this with slides without "build", there are no problems. Anyone else experienced this?

    Well, you have to look in different places for transitions.
    Slides can have them but you have to specifically configure them.
    Objects have them by default (Fade in and fade out)
    The project itself is usually configured with a "Fade in on first slide" and a "Fade out on last slide".
    Click Edit > Preferences > Project > Start and End

  • Skipping slides

    I have created some Captivate quizzes using Captivate 3 and
    outputting them as Scorm packages 1.2. They run in an LMS and all
    work fine on my computer. However, when other users tested the
    quizzes they had occasional problems where the quiz would skip a
    question. The only solution for them was to restart the quiz which
    is not very satisfactory. I tested the quiz in Firefox where it has
    always worked ok and my colleagues where using Explorer, Im not
    sure whether that is likely to be the issue. Has anyone else
    experienced this problem? Im wondering whether adding extra time to
    each slide would help or if there is a setting change I could make.
    Its difficult because it appears to be on random question
