Captivate - Size of HTML5-published progress indicator forces line break

For some odd reason the first 9 questions of many of the quizzes we generated are rendered in HTML5 with a width smaller than what is show in Captivate.
* We use the MCQ master slide to publish our questions
* The width of the Progress indicator is 110
* Oddly enough, the actual questions originally show different width values
* I change the width to 110 on one of the questions and click the menu to 'Apply to all items of this type'
* Ok... it appears that they all are changed to the same width
* Publish the quiz. Questions 1-9 still show an incorrect size. e.g., the div width for question #1 is 86 and all the other params appear to be consistent with what is set in Captivate

This seems to be a caching issue when publishing to the same folder. I have been seeing (some?) of the same content each time I check for different results and not the newly generated content.

  • Deleting extra forced line breaks with Find/Change

    Ladies and Gentlemen,
I'm importing word .doc that are text-heavy and the formatting is such that there are lots of extra forced line breaks creating a blank line between paragraphs.
To avoid manually deleting the extra forced line breaks to eliminate the blank line of space between paragraphs, what are the best steps to doing this an easier way?
Any advice on clear steps to do it using the find/change option?
    Thanks in advance as always..
    JRH

Are you talking about two hard returns [Enter] in a row, or a soft and hard return [Shift + Enter] and [Enter]? A forced line break is a soft return, but most Word users would just hit the return key for an empty paragraph to get an empty line.
In either case, you can do a simple text find change, if GREP intimidates you. Use the special characters menu to enter either two "end of paragraph" or a "forced line break" and "end of paragraph" markers into the find field and a single "end of paragraph" marker into the change field.
This is included as part of the "Find/change by list" sample script which adds some other common cleanup functions like converting two spaces to one. The advantage to using GREP is it will find any number of consecutive paragraph end markers and convert to one in a single pass, while a text search must be run multiple times to catch the heavy handed author.

  • Clear or Override Forced Line Breaks?

This is probably really simple, but I searched the help file and didn't find it.
    - How do you clear all forced line breaks in a paragraph?
I'm editing text that we thought was fairly final, and I usually work in Preview mode as it's cleaner and easier to see what's going on. But I'm fearful of any forced line breaks that I may not know about that could mess up the paragraph flow after I make changes. The text is fully justified.
I know I can work in Normal mode and turn on 'View Hidden Characters' to see them. But even with that, they can sometimes be small and hard to see depending on the complexity of the type and how zoomed-in I am.
    - Isn't there a simple key command to override forced line breaks?
    THANKS!

OK. Thanks. I knew that would be an option, I just think I confused a couple other features with what I was hoping to do.
I may have been confusing 'Clear Local Overrides' when updating a paragraph style, and the ability to have certain things highlighted (custom tracking/kerning, glyphs, etc.), with an ability to clear forced line breaks with a simple key-command or palette menu item.
    Thanks, though.

    hi everybody,
as I said, i do a javascritp that exports xml files. First I clean up my text by removing every invisible characters with app.findpreferences. Nevertheless, my xml files is almost well formed beacause i got before and after each xmltag a forced line break. Somebody could explain to me why ?
    I don't use prettyIndent and prettyPrinting .

  • Forced Line Break and Paragraph Return

Hi.. It´s maybe a simple question but I cannot see diferences.
What´s the difference between Forced Line Break and Paragraph Return ?
    Thank's for the answer

A force line break is still the same paragraph. You won't see a difference unless there is some text change with each new paragraph, such as a style change or the addition of space before or after a paragraph. The forced line break can also be used as a trigger in a nested style to make the first line or lines formatting for a paragraph different from the following lines.

  • Fix the forced line break bug already!

Illustrator has had the same bug since version 11. In 5 consecutive versions!
Forced line break in a justified text behave like a paragraph ending (Enter) aligning the line before the forced line break left. It looks like a new paragraph but it is just incorrectly aligned line in the middle of a paragraph.
Also Find & Replace recognizes only forced line break but (^n) not paragraph ending (^p) although both can be used in text.
Since discretionary hyphens do not have an effect whatsoever it requires a lot of manual editing to make typographically acceptable text block to the back of a book jacket.
So, Adobe. How hard is exactly fix this very annoying bug which has been reported dozens of times? It has even been demonstrated to your tech people who agreed that it really is a bug and should be fixed.

  • DefaultStyledDocument - JTextPane - Forcing Line Breaks

Well i have a defaultstyled document put into a JTextPane.
Now when the user puts text into it and it reaches the end of the
line in the jtextpane it auto word wraps down to the next line.
HOWEVER, it does not add a line break into the actual document, it is just what the jtextpane does or something.
What i want is to add a line break into the actual document once it reaches the end of the line and auto wraps down to the next line.
Any suggestions how to do this easily?

Move to top. Need a solution.

  • Progress indicator changes after publishing

I have a 50 question assessment. When I publish the file, the
Progress indicator changes from 1 of 50 etc... to 2 if 51 etc.. So,
question one says it is question 2 and so on. What can cause this
and how do I fix it? Thanks

Hi dodgersmom and welcome to our community
You probably have one or more Click Box objects configured
with scoring enabled. This is a common issue we see here in the
forums. One easy way to fix it is to press F9 to obtain the
Advanced Interaction dialog. Once there, look at Click Boxes and
    DE-select reporting/scoring options.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Publish a Captivate course with HTML5 and Scorm

This is the scenario.  We have a Captivate 7 module.  One of the slides will have an HTML5 animation on it.  The module also has quiz questions.  We have used Adobe Captivate 7 App Packager to include the HTML5 animation and publish the course.  When we upload the course to our LMS (LearnShare), nothing shows up.  If we upload the HTML5 published course without any Scorm settings, it works.  But we obviously need the Scorm settings on.  Can't figure out how to package this thing to have it include the animation and the Scorm settings and work on the LMS.

You can score any interactions or question slides you want in
    Captivate.
If your LMS supports it, you can even have Captivate submit
the user's answers to each scored interaction/question. This is
done through the "Submit interactions and the score" option in the
Quiz preferences, although there seems to be a hard limit to the
amount of data that can be sent to an LMS so you wouldn't want to
submit interactions for a file with a large number of
    interactions/questions.
The quickest way to set up all your scoring parameters is to
press F9, which opens the Advanced Interaction dialog that lets you
specify the scoring of each item in your project.
From there, you just need to figure out which combination of
settings in the the Quiz preferences gets the SCORM data to your
LMS in a format that your LMS expects or can handle.

  • Table cell progress indicator

I see in the JavaFX 2.2 API that there is a table cell implementation for rendering a progress bar. However, it appears that this only supports the progress indicator that takes an incremental update value (as a double, presumably a value between 0 and 1?) to adjust the "progress" in the indicator. There does not appear to be any support for an indeterminate progress indicator that can be embedded in a table cell.
I am asking because I have a situation where there will be a background task that will be launched potentially for any row in a table. The task may take some time to execute and complete and I would like to show an indeterminate progress indicator that will "spin" until the task completes. I wanted to be able to include this as a cell (column) for each row so that individual rows could indicate whether they were currently "working" or done.
Is there, or will there be in the near future, support for this type of functionality? Or, are there suggestions on a way to cobble together something that can do this?

Copy and paste the ProgressBarTableCell code and search and replace ProgressBar with ProgressIndicator on it.
    http://hg.openjdk.java.net/openjfx/8/master/rt/file/tip/javafx-ui-controls/src/javafx/scene/control/cell/ProgressBarTableCell.java
Here's a minor update to the great example James put together which does this.
Seems to work fine. Only issue I see when running it on a recent jdk8 version is that the indeterminate progress indicator is a bit too big, then the whole indicator shrinks a little bit once the indicator switches to reporting percentage progress. I didn't investigate that any further, likely it's a minor styling bug in the new JavaFX modena style sheet for Java 8 which you could work around by applying your own style to indeterminate progress indicators.

  • Video files in Captivate 6 externalize when publishing the project. Is there any way to publish an S

Video files in Captivate 6 externalize when publishing the project. Is there any way to publish an SWF project with the video files all in one single file?

Rhonda, I used Captivate 6. Create a New Project. Set the project size to the size of  your MP4. In my experience, this was 640 v 480 which also happened to fit nicely within my final project.
From the menu, select Video > Insert Video. Choose "Multi-slide Synchronized" and point to the MP4 on your local drive. Select a skin and playbar that you like from Project > Skin Editor. Then publish. In the Publish dialog, choose SWF as your output format option (not HTML5).
This is the SWF that I added to my master project through Insert > Animation.
    Hope this helps!

  • Adobe Captivate 6 Error when publishing

Help!  I having trouble publishing a training that my employees can view.  When they open the project they are getting the first image here that is essentially blank.  I have attempted to reduce the size and save to different folders etc. but nothing seems to work.

    Hi there,
Could you tell me the complete version of Captivate (Help > About Adobe Captivate).  6.0.1.240
Which version of Adobe Reader or Acrobat are they using?  Adobe Reader XI
Can you publish this locally on your system (not to network drive directly), check force republish option also, and are you able to view it on your end?  I can pull up the file from my computer that is saved in the same drive that the agents are attempting to pull up.  But, I am not sure if it is viewing for me because I have it on my system.

  • When drag the progress indicator screen become blank

    Hi
I have made the simulation with captivate 4 around 45 slide and publish into the swf format and publish swf file load in the flash 8 move with his own control. When I drag the progress bar indicator screen become blank. Please help me.
    Regards,
    Manish

When you drag the progress indicator, it pauses the playback.
So it could be that you've dragged to a point where your objects from one slide have faded out but the ones from the next haven't started to fade in yet.
Clicking the Play button on the playbar should get you going again, if that's what's happpened.

  • Can we have our custom name in the place of Progress Indicator ?

    Hello all..
I am using Captivate 4. I would like to use a custom name "Prasna"(means the word "question' in a local language) instead of the word "Question". How can I change it as per my requirement. In the progress indicator window, there are only 2 options where I couldn't find what I need.
    Thanks & regards,
    Pullela.

    Hello Pullela,
For once you are lucky to use Captivate 4, because this feature was lost in CP5. It is a bit cumbersome but possible: choose File Export Captions to Word (do not remember the exact phrasing, sorry). In the Word document you will see the progess indicators, and you'll be able to change the word Question. Then re-import without changing the filename in the Captivate file.
For CP5-users I posted an alternative workaround on my blog recently; it uses the master slide, but you could also tweak this for CP4, you'll have to copy/paste to all slides:
    Customize the progress indicator

  • How to change the text in Progress Indicator?

    Hi,
How do I edit the text for Progress Indicator in Captivate 4?
What if wanted to change the font color, or even create this test in Spanish for example? How to edit the word "Questions"?
Is there a way to edit the default in Captivate?

I'm just a Captivate newbie myself, but it seems to be a default style that you cannot edit. Also, changing "Question" to "Questions" would be grammatically incorrect in that case anyway.
