Captivate version 1.01 Skins

I currently work in an office where some people operate with Captivate version 1.01 and some operate with version 3.  Does anyone know where version 1.01 stores its user developed/modified skins??  We would like to share version 1.01 developed skins with people that have Captivate version 3.

Hi there
Unfortunately Skins weren't part of the Captivate 1.01 feature set. They were introduced with Captivate version 2.

  • Can we save file developed in captivate 4 to captivate version 3

Can we save file developed in captivate 4 to captivate version 3? If yes are there any issues?

Sorry, there is no backwards compatibility, you cannot save in format CP3 from CP4. Perhaps it is possible, if you have both CP3 and CP4 installed to copy slides from the CP4 to an blank CP3-file. As long as no new features of CP4 are present this could work.

  • Batch convert Captivate version 1 to 2?

Does anyone know of a way to convert multiple Captivate
version 1 files to version 2 without having to open each one
individually? We have a lot of files to convert and something like
this would save a lot of time.
Perhaps a batch file or other scripting?
    Thanks!!

There is no way to automate the task. In most cases, I
recommend that you not convert "old" projects just because you have
the "new" version. Both versions can be run ont he same machine so
there is no reason to remove Captivate 1 when you install Captivate
2, and the default storage folders are different, so often there is
no reason to rush into converting files from an earlier version.
Having said that, I understand that in spite of all the
explanations, it may still be desirable - or necessary - to convert
all your V1 files to V2 format. And if that is really the case, get
a nice comfortable chair and decide what you want to buy with all
those overtime dollars you are about to earn.

In captivate version 7,  I am localizing an english quiz in Russian . I can import the project captions and closed captions in the Russian translation and this works but there is one word that won't translate which is the review area button.

Lilybiri may be talking about this blog post that offers a solution for localising parts of the TOC that cannot be changed to match a language.

There is no mention in the blog about the dialog you are interested in because it was only added in a later version of Captivate.  But perhaps one of the Adobe reps here would know if it would work.  You would need to know the specific name of the internal string variable that needs to be changed.

  • Does anyone still discuss Captivate Version 1 issues?

I attempt to insert .swf video files as animation directly into a slide, and although I can see and hear the video perfectly in the Properties Window, when I click Apply, the video is inserted into the slide with a still image of the video clearly visible, and then the sound repeats, without being able to stop it short of deleting the object from the slide. Clicking directly on the image in the slide does not play the video, and the sound just keeps looping.
I have also attempted to insert the original .avi file and let Captivate convert it on the fly, with the same results as above.
These are fairly brief video clips (anywhere from 25 to 45 seconds), and can range in size from 4 to 8Mb.
I use the AVS File Converter to get my .swf files from .avi files.
Thanks for any information that may be available.

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
You probably need to reinstall or update your USB drivers. Please see the following:

If you still want to downgrade, you can get previous versions of iTunes here:

I, for one, haven't upgraded from v.7. Don't see the need......
There are some fine points to a reinstall, and the following document should lead you to answers to any issues you may encounter:

When I publish I am getting two different files - one for the skin and one for the preso.  The skin files shows the skin w/o preso and the preso file plays fine but w/o the playback skin.  How do I publish in order to get both on one playable file?

    Hi there
In addition to what Lilybiri offered, try clicking Project > Skin > Borders tab and DE-selecting the "Show Borders" check box.

  • Detect captivate version in quiz

    Hi,
I need to detect the version of Captivate used to create a
quiz. I could indicate the version in the QuizID or Interaction ID
and parse the results prior to inserting the results into a
database, but I would rather not create a manual step where the
chance of the quiz developer forgetting is increased and bound to
    compromise the data.
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you! That's what I did. I just posted another discussion as I still have issues w/reports in our LMS. Hopefully you can assist with that as well.

  • RoboHelp HTML Version 8 multiple skins in merged projects?

    Hello,
Is it possible to brand different pages in a merged help project w/ different skins, or do you have to use only one skin for the entire project?
    Thank you,
    -Jerod

    Welcome to our community
Skins are used to control the look and feel of the output created by Projects. That means all topics and not individual topics.
You could use CSS to control the way specific pages appear if you like. Perhaps that will help to differentiate them?

  • Captivate version 4, adjusting the timeline

In the Captivate 4 Help, it says the following:
"You can adjust the zoom level of the Timeline easily. Click in the  Timeline ruler and spin the mouse wheel on your mouse to increase or  decrease the zoom level. Alternatively, use keystrokes to change the  zoom level. Click the ruler and then press Control+[ to decrease the  zoom level, Control+] to increase the zoom level, or Control+W to set  the zoom level so that all objects will fit in the current Timeline."
This all works fine - EXCEPT - when I use Control+W to try to set the zoom level so that all objects fit within the current Timeline. When I use this keyboard combination the Captivate project tries to close itself. Is this an error in the Help file or am I doing something wrong?

That was strange - when I opened this topic there was no reply but now I see your reply Lieve.

  • RH7 - Custom WebHelp Pro skin custom "Print" button does NOT display in version published to RH Server 8

I customized a WebHelp Pro skin using the Omega skin as the basis. Everything works fine except the Print button, which I added using the same Action as shown in the BeautifulVista skin's Print button.
    Local Version (C: drive)
When I generate my help project and view it locally from my C: drive after I accept the warning about viewing locally, I see the Print button.
However, it does NOT work.  I've attached a graphic that shows the local version and the skin dialog where I set up the action for the Print button.
    RH Server 8 version
When I view the same project after I publish it to the server, the Print button does NOT display.
    QUESTIONS ARE:
How do I get the Print button to function properly (active printer dialog)?
If it can't work until it is published that fine but then how do I get it display when I view from server?

  • Opening Captivate 2 Project in Version 3...Error

I apologize if this issue has already been raised; however,
    I'm getting an
error when opening a CP2 file in CP3. This was originally a
    version 1
project, which was opened in version two for some minor
    changes. I need to
make two minor tweaks and can't. The file size is
    approximately 9 MB.
Allows me to overwrite or save as a different file name. I
    have tried both.
A message appears: "Exception Occored" followed by "Adobe
    Captivate could
not open "filename.cp" because it is either not a supported
    file type or
because the file has been damaged..."
I can open the file in version 2 without difficulty. I want
    to use version 3
because I heard that the final .swf file will be smaller
    (also, I don't want
to continue using 2 for some projects and 3 for others).
Any clue as to what is going on and how I can get the file
    into version 3?
    Thanks!

Thanks! This worked for me. Another question...the size of
    the cp file is
500KB larger, but the compiled version is slightly smaller.
    It looks as
though some of the images in the library were duplicated to
    be used for
different backgrounds. Has anyone tried inserting the
    original background
and deleting the duplicate? Has it caused problems?
    Thanks!

  • Captivate 7 with other versions on same machine

Have a client running several versions of Adobe Captivate on a single machine including Ver 6. She would like to keep those on the machine for use with projects created on older versions. Would like to also install Captivate version 7. I am planning to install it and choose a new directory during the install. Are there any issues I should be aware of installing Ver 7 with these other versions in place?
    Thanks...

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums!
Yes you can install  multiple version of Captivate on Single computer.
But make sure that you also upgrade the computer according to the systems requirements of Adobe Captivate 7 so that you won't run into any memory related issues , like slow performance etc. .

  • Captivate latest version in Tech Communication Suite

    Hello,
I have installed Adobe Technical Communication Suite very recently and the Captivate version after an update is 5.0.2. However, I have seen that the latest version available is 5.5. Does anybody know why Adobe Technical Communication Suite does not include the latest Captivate version available? Can I upgrade to that version?
The 5.0.2 version just won't record correctly on my Windows 7 system. I tried the "run in administration mode" workaround, but it still does not work. That is why I would like to upgrade and see if this issue has been solved in 5.5 version.
    Regards

    Thanks for your reply.
Yes, the version is the latest, the one you mentioned, with al patches installed. My screen resolution is 1900x1200, which is the recommended resolution for the laptop I am using, according to Windows 7. The hardware I am using should be enough in terms of processor and RAM: Intel core duo at 2.54 GHz. 4 GB RAM. However, I did notice that dedicated video memory is just 64 MB, but total available graphics memory is 1575 MB.
The sreen area recorded is 640x480. Apparently, it always records the area above the upper red line of the square. It never actually records inside the screen recording area but above it, and consequently the mouse movements are wrong and so are mouse clicks because it all happens above that red line.
Yes, higlight boxes are misplaced. They also appear above the recording area I specified (above the upper red line of the square). I do not use spanning and the browser zoom is set at 100%.
I tried creating a new porject lowering the screen resolution of my PC to 1600 x1200 but it still does not work. I don't know it will have something to do with resolution.
