Captivate:  video next to powerpoint on the "stage"?

Hello, I'm trying to integrate pre-recorded video with corresponding pre-made PP slides and give at least about 20-25 percent of the screen (horizontally) to the video and the other side (75-80% of screen) to the PP.   Using the TOC option seems to be hopeless as Captivate forces the video to be ridiculously tiny when put above the TOC.  (If I'm wrong about that and it is possible to enlarge the video above the TOC, please let me know...but it seems you can only widen the TOC without it affecting the size of the video)
I haven't been able to figure out how to allocate space between the video and the powerpoint on the "stage" (i.e., not on the TOC).  I've only been able to overlay the video on top of the PP, which doesn't work for me because it cuts off parts of my densely packed PPs.
I sure hope there's a way to do this.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

If your pulling you're content in as PPT slides they will occupy the entire stage area. If what you REALL want is to have part of the slide taken up with the talking head video then I think you're better off to take screen captures of your PPT slides and pull each slide in as a graphic to fill part of the stage area in Captivate.  Then you have total control over both the size of your video and the size of your slide image.

  • Changing video file that is on the Stage

    Hello,
    So, I need to replace the video that is already on the stage in the layer called 'video'
    I need to do that to keep the settings I put on it (pause/play etc... on the timeline)
    I tried that, but it doesn't work, because it add another video so I have two video playing
    var vid = sym.$("Video");
    vid.html('<video src="_images/testCVideo2.mp4" autoplay="yes" loop="yes" type="video/mp4" width="100%"></video>');
    Is someone have any idea or solution ?
    Thanks and excuse my english

  • Can Flash publish video to FMS generated from the Stage?

    I know NetStream can publish video from a camera, but is there anyway to generate video from the stage?
    If would be nice to record what is on the stage to the FMS for playback.
    Even combining the camera with elements on the stage.
    This would be even better once Stage3D is available to generate 3D generated videos.
    Is there anyway to overload Camera to insert any display object you wanted?
    Thanks.

    Maybe something like this:
    var ns:NetStream;
    //...init...
    ns.attachStage(this);
    while (condition) {
      moveObjectsOnStage();
      ns.nextFrame();
    ns.close();

  • Windows 8.1 Pro - Flash Pro: Menu's and window selection panes do not fully render, or are misaligned. Same with the stage

    This bug makes the program virtually unusable for anyone using Windows 8.1.  I have a dual screen setup : 1920 x 1200 and 1920 x 1080 on the other, AMD Radeon HD 5700 Series drivers (Latest versions), running on a Windows 8.1 Pro OS.  When you attempt to view the various menu option panes, the windows themselves are not rendering fully, or you are hidden.  Also the stage is shifted as well to the lower right, making the program almost unusable. I have tested this on a Mac, as well as on a windows 7 machine and this does not occur there.  So it appears to be only within a Windows 8.1 Pro machine.   I have attached screen shots of what I am seeing.  Notice in the first image, we are looking at the new document pane. You cannot see the options fully and they are shifted to the right out of view.  The next image shows both the stage, shifted right, as well as the Document Pane.  The options are not fully visible, and clipped off.  The window itself is not re-sizable.  I have cleared the appdata, and re-installed the program. Same result.  I attempted to troubleshoot this via chat, however your network kept losing connection. Please let me know if anyone is suffering from this, and any resolution. Thanks!

    Thank you sir!  The scaling was the issue, and the solution.  By clicking on settings->Screen Resolution-> Text and Font link ->  It was defaulted to 125%. For anyone else who has this issue, set it to 100% and it will resolve these issues.
    Thanks again! Back to development

  • In action script, how would I be able to capture animation on the stage and save it to a file

    using action script how would I be able to capture video that's playing on the stage and save it as a file

    Are you still using iphoto?
    If so you should NOT move the iphoto library to the TC and use it.
    Apple says you will corrupt the library doing this.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5168
    Although mostly about FAT32  it adds network drives.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1198
    Now what I cannot tell you is if the same rules apply to the new photo app. Apple might have fixed the problem.
    For iphoto you should offload the photos to USB drive plugged into your computer.. or any external drive.. the faster the interface the better.
    Apple have explicit instructions for moving the library.

  • In Captivate, how to effectively control the movement of objects on the stage?

    How to, say, make a shape (an arrow, for example) which points to a certain location move (and maybe rotate at the same time) to another location (another point on the stage) one second later. I know I can "apply effect" to it, but still I don't find it very easy to control the start position and end position of the arrow and the way it rotates (for example, how to make it rotate along the X, Y and Z axis respectively?)
    Or, how can I make an image fly into the stage to a specific location from a certain direction, linger for a specific time, and then fly out in a specified direction? And while setting up this animation, is it possible to scrub across the timeline to see the effect of the animation, as you do in Flash Professional?

    An old pain, efficient control of motion paths and motion effects, I know.
    All motion effects are relative to the start position of the object, that can allow you to realize the fly in and fly out: time both effects and leave the necessary 'linger' time between the effects. The motion paths can be edited. To have more precise coordinates you can either edit the XML that describes the effect, or create a motion effect in Flash Professional and save it as XML to be used in Captivate, or use my approach: I create a crosshair group with a perfect vertical and horizontal line object, that you can position exactly using the X and Y coordinates and then drag start or end point of the motion path over that cross hair. I have been pleading to have at least a snap function or a serious improvement that allows to enter coordinates but apparently not many users are wanting this improvement. I used that approach here in the first movie: Reset Effects in Captivate 6 - Captivate blog
    And no, Preview slide (which is what you do when scrubbing the timeline) is not a real preview, you cannot see those effects.
    Please, next time mention the version you are using. In CP7 and before effect duration was relative to object duration, in CP8 it is (finally) absolute timing.

  • Moving a video across the stage

    Is it possible to have a stationary video (ex: of spokesperson) move across the stage, in a manner that would appear to have a "panning camera" effect? I've attempted to produce this effect by simply importing the video as an imbedded video, then dropping a new layer into the timeline, and then simply placing a new keyframe where I'd like the video to begin a panning camera effect, but it starts the video over again where I've place the new keyframe. Is it even possible to acheive this sort of effect through Flash or can I only do this in AE or Premiere? Thanks.

    put the video in its own layer.  then you can move a background layer that might make it appear the camera is panning (though you want be viewing the video from a different angle).

  • How can I slow down the playback speed of selected parts of a captivate video?

    Hi everybody,
    I'm pretty new to Captivate and although it offers some great tools, there is something that I just can't get to work:
    I'm creating a video tutorial about how to use a website i'm working with so I've tried using "Automatic" ("Demo" mode chosen) recording option which is recommended for this type of video. However, the video recorded has a different playback speed than the amount of time I recorded. This means that some of the slides have a quicker playback speed than the way I recorded, thereby not leaving enough time to show the given feature.
    The recording mode with the most "true" playback was "Full motion". However, I would still like to be able to slow down selected parts of the video, but can only find guides on how to slow down the entire presentation.
    Can you please advise me on how to slow down only selected parts of the project? If this is not possible in Captivate, please advise me on which video editing software (where you can slow down the playback speed on selected parts of the video) is compatible with Captivate 5?
    Thanks!

    Thank you. Andrew Kramer's Video Copilot video, which I somehow managed to miss, was very helpful.
    I had a 79 second clip which I precomposed and enabled time remapping. But I have 12 places where I need to slow down the layer. After a while, I was runing out of room to add more keyframes using the method promoted in many videos and instruction sites (grab the last two keyframes, including the end frame, and drag).
    In reality, you can add keyframes wherever you like and you can adjust them however works best within the existing timeline without messing with the duration, etc.
    Much appreciated.

  • If AME 2014 no longer allows .flv export, how am I supposed to import videos to the stage for use in Flash CC?

    Flash CC will notimport .mp4 videos for use on the stage, only .flv. This seems like an ENORMOUS oversight, so maybe I am missing something. But if I'm not missing anything, WHEN THE **** WILL ADOBE UPDATE FLASH TO MATCH THE STUPID FORCED WORKFLOW UPDATE THEY'VE DONE WITH AME AND AFTER EFFECTS? I HAVE TO USE SOME RANDOM 3RD PARTY WEBSITE TO CONVERT .MOV OR .MP4 FILES TO .FLV FOR USE IN FLASH!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?

  • Stage video capability in flex mobile - the whole truth

    I am finding it confusing to work out the capabilities of different types of Flex. So I have been trying throught trial and error. Hopefully forum members can shed light on this
    In flex mobile apps you can access actionscript. Actionscript contains the stage video classes. Does that mean we can use stage video in a flex mobile app by using the actionscript?
    In an Air app we can access actionscript - does that mean we can do the same in Air.
    I hear stage video is only available for GoogleTv and other tv applications, but is that news out of date, seeing stage video classes are available in actionscript?
    I managed to get stage video working in a Flex "Actionscript" project (on the web, but not on my desktop) - yippee-yai-yo.
    But tried and failed to get it working inside a Flex "Flex" projext, or a Flex "Air" project. Is that because I don't know what I am doing, or because it is not possible?
    Also "IF" Stage Video can work in a pure Actionscript project, which it seems to be able to, does that mean I can use it in a mobile actionscript project and use it across android, iphone, blackberry. Or not...
    All help gratefully received, thank you.

    Unfortunately, I did not find a solution and at that point stopped working with Flex for iPad. If you do find a way to stream secure video I would really appreciate knowing!

  • Does live streaming video disable event of a button on the stage?

    When a video is streamed from flash Media Server then the
    event assigned to any button on the stage doesn't work at runtime,
    Code example:
    var myNC:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    myNC.connect("rtmp://server.domain.com/application");
    var myNS:NetStream = new NetStream(myNC);
    myNS.play("myNStream");
    But when the video is streamed without connecting rtmp URL
    and just requesting normal URL, the event of button works.
    Code example:
    var myNC:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    myNC.connect(null);
    var myNS:NetStream = new NetStream(myNC);
    myNS.play("stream.flv");
    The video streaming is done using NetConnection and NetStream
    class in ActionScript 3.0.
    Does anyone know What's the matter?

    There is no straightforward way in LabVIEW to do on-the-fly H.264 compression.  If you want to send images over TCP, you can do so by converting the image to an array, flattening the array to a string, sending it over a TCP or UDP connection, then on the receiving end you unflatten from string to array and convert the array back to an image.  You can reduce the resolution of the image using the IMAQ Resample VI before you convert the image to an array.  Look up the UDP and TCP examples in the NI Example Finder to see how to create the sender and receiever VIs.

  • Extend a video clip's audio over the next clip

    I cannot get it to work. When I put the pointer over the blue audio track, it turns into a hand. When I try to drag the audio track over the next clip, the whole clip (video and audio) moves. The result is the end or beginning of the clip is changed. Maybe, I am doing something wrong?
    Thanks, Steve...

    I would use the CUTAWAY function for this.
    First, go into IMOVIE/PREFERENCES and make sure that the Advanced Tools are enabled.
    Put the full video clip (with the audio you need) in your project.
    Drag the second clip in and drop it on the frame of video where you want it to start.
    When a popup menu appears, choose CUTAWAY.

  • [svn:fx-trunk] 10826: When a Video is removed from the stage or becomes invisible, the video will now pause playback.

    When a Video is removed from the stage or becomes invisible, the video will now pause playback.  This features is controlled through a new property, playWhenHidden, which defaults to false (meaning we don't play the video when it's hidden).  When it becomes visible/on-stage again, we will start playing the video if autoPlay=true.  Otherwise, the video will not automatically start playback.
    This property still needs to be reviewed by PARB.
    Also, updating a comment in SkinnableContainer relating to a FIXME I own.

  • Removing UI Loader from the stage

    I have 5 GoToframe activated UI loaders that appear on stage when a btn is clicked. All work fine except when either video galleries are clicked (there are two) . After the video gallery appears on stage any button clicked after that adds the next UI loader but the video gallery remains playing.
    Do I use a removeEventListener?
    Do I use on all buttons?
    Create separate functions?
    Any help which code and where to put????
    here is the code to one of the galleries
    this.stop();
    btnGallImg.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, vgall2);
    function vgall2(evt:Event):void {
        gotoAndStop("gallery2");

    you need to explicitly stop the video stream in the loaded swf.  how you do that depends on how the stream is started.
    for example, if you're using an flvplayback component with instance name flv, and your uiloader has instance name uiLDR, you could use:
    MovieClip(uiLDR.content).flv.stop()

  • Make Captivate behave more like Powerpoint?

    Hey all,
    I'm working on a project where we want to use Captivate as our platform (so it's HTML-friendly and responsive), but we'd like for it to behave more like Powerpoint. The two main features we'd like to have are:
    Allow for a mouse-click anywhere on the screen and/or keyboard shortcut to advance the presentation, rather than having to click a specific button to continue
    Allow for there to be objects that appear in succession on the same slide. If there's a square, a circle, and a triangle on a slide, what's the best process for having them fade in one at a time? It seems like click boxes and pausing might be the way that we have to do this, but I'm hoping there's an easier alternative. (or one that makes more sense to me)
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    You need only a click box if you want to control the appearance of the next object by a click. If they can appear automatically after each other (in sequence, is also possible in PPT) you don't need click boxes. Here is a pretty complicated example, where I needed clicks for a presentation on an Adobe Summit:
    You see 4 click boxes, which I put on top of each other on a specific location of the slide, which is possible because they are staggered, not active at the same moment. They have the action 'Continue'. I didn't put them over the whole slide, because there was also a shape button functioning as Next button that is not visible here because it is on the first slide, timed for the rest of the project.
