Capture audio static with Leopard?

I just upgraded to Leopard and started capturing a new project with FCP. I now have static in the audio I didn't have before. Anyone else experiencing this. I've switch cables, drives, video playback decks and still get added static on all tapes. The audio on the tape when monitored with earphones is static free. Any ideas? Thanks.
Gary

Thanks for the reply. All cameras are set to 16 bit audio. Nothing has really changed except the Leopard OS upgrade. I am getting a warning box about the audio possibly not syncing, but there is no sync problem. I'm just curious if I'm the only one having this problem with audio static on capturing after the Leopard upgrade. Thanks for any help.

  • Why am I suddenly getting audio static with FaceTime connection?

    I recently started getting audio statice when making a FaceTime connection. The other person can hear me, but I get only static. The image is clear. Is this a problem on their end or mine? Is it the iPad or a router issue? Regular connection to the net is fine and playing of music from I tunes is fine with no static.
    I'm puzzled.

    You could try to reinstall using the full three step way (otherwise strange things may linger):
    Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

  • Hauppauge PVR-150 Capture, Audio Static/Noise IVTV Composite input

    Hello,
    This is my first post.
    I have been migrating from Gentoo to Arch after 7-8 years using gentoo, I think Arch is great. even though precompiled packages have there downside. anyway.
    I have problem with static/noise audio when capturing from Composite using IVTV, im running kernel 3.0.4 arch kernel.
    I have 10  Hauppauge PVR-150 (+1 PVR-500) Cards running, the problem occurs in a random card after reboot.
    Video is fine on all cards, but sometimes the audio on either one of the 11 cards get static/noise in the audio background.. sometimes allot, other times just a little bit noise/static.
    I tried the wiki, and searched the forum, but can't find a solution, can anyone help me??
    I can provide sample (cat /dev/videoX > sample.mpeg) if interested.
    See dmesg: http://pastebin.com/U2JnJ0Zr
    Thank you

    Hello,
    changing to constant bitrate seems to correct the problem,
    v4l2-ctl -d /dev/videoX --set-ctrl=video-bitrate-mode=1
    and then remember to not have the capture source audio volume to more than 75%.

  • Audio Static with DVD Studio Pro

    I make pretty simple slide shows with music underneath of our travels. In the last couple of years, there has been static at various points in the audio on some of the slide shows and now on almost all of the slide shows. I have tried turning the slide shows into tracks with the audio there but I still get the problem. I read through the posts here (some of them) and I'm thinking that I need to convert all the audio to ac3? The formats of the audio are all over the place--aif, m4a, m4p, mp3. Should I be using only one file type? Can I convert all of these file types with Final Cut Pro or should I use iTunes?
    Thanks for any help.

    You should convert the audio to a standard type for DVD. If you give DVDSP anything non-standard then it will attempt to convert it to PCM (or .aiff) with mixed results.
    If you use a decent audio editor (had a look at Bias Peak??) then you can standardise to PCM outside of DVDSP and make sure that there are no audio glitches in the final file. COnvert the output of that to AC3 using Compressor (making sure you use -31DNV and no compression) and your file should still sound the same as before. use that in DVDSP and all should be well.

  • Audio static with USB

    When I have my HP psc1300 printer plugged in to airport express my audio gets a feedback that is quite annoying. I have not tried to use the printer yet. I also have the ethernet cable plugged in.

    This is a problem that has been reported here a few times before.
    If your problem goes away by unplugging the USB cable from the Airport Express - then sometimes the problem can be solved by using a different and/or better quality USB cable, or a shorter cable if possible.

  • How can I capture Audio Only?

    Hello,
    I have FCEHD 3.0 and would like to capture audio tracks only with Capture Now (from a non-controllable device via Canopus). There is no "Audio Only" option in the capture window. Any ideas??
    Thanks,
    C.J

    Hi(Bonjour)!
    No way to capture audio only with capture command.
    Simply delete the video track in the timeline.
    Or:
    Plug your camcorder audio output in your in-line socket on your mac with an audio 1/8" wire, do a voice over record.
    The resulting audio file will be a "analog" one.
    You can also use a sound editing programm like Sound studio or audacity to capture your audio-in content, and import the resulting file in FCE.

  • Getting echo when capturing audio with JMF

    Hello.
    I have just downloaded JMF 2.1.1 and have cribbed one of the examples to produce an application that will capture audio input, process it and pass it straight to the speakers. However, I am getting echo, i.e. the input signal appears twice at the speakers, shifted by about half a second.
    Now, before you tell me that it is due to feedback from the speakers to the microphone, I must tell you that my audio signal is from a radio plugged into the mike socket of my PC, so there is no chance of any external feedback.

    Now, the really interesting thing is that if I uncomment the lines that mute the processor, I get only a single signal out of the speakers. It appears as if there is some connection between the mike input and speaker output.
    Just to make sure, I tried this with JMStudio and got the same result. When I captured input, I got two signals output until I pressed the mute button, when I got one signal.
    I also get the same problem if I use a Player, rather than a Processor.

  • Performance loss with audio apps in Leopard

    I upgraded one of my machines to Leopard when it came out. It had the same apps installed as my production machine, so I thought this would be a good way to really test Leopard with real applications that I use everyday. So far my audio apps have taken the biggest blow. Apps like Logic 8 and Ableton Live (6 and 7) have been given a dramatic performance cut as well as many plugins. In some cases the perfromance decrease is severe. Sets in Live that would show 40% CPU under Tiger now stutter as the CPU meter jumps between 60% - 100%! Some live and Logic sets see a smaller increase in CPU, 20% , but the fans go wild and and my track count is stunted.
    At first I thought I was alone and started to look into ways of optimising Leopard but recently I've visited a number of other studios running Leopard with similar performanc cuts. I've also visited several audio forums with the same results.
    My question is this: Is this something we are likely to see fixed? or is this a symptom of Leopard's bells and whistles? I'm very happy with 10.4.11 and I don't need to change yet... but I will be buying a new production machine in a few months and reverting back to 2005 performance in my apps is not something i wish to do in 2008.

    Is there no one else concerned about this? Or is this something only confined to Audio Apps and not other CPU intensive apps?

  • WTK SDK 3.0 for OSX problem with capturing audio, emulator

    Hello all,
    i'm installed the WTK SDK 3.0 for osx and everything works well. Some test applications also work.
    Now I'm trying to realize my project and get strange error.
    I want to capture some audio form the microphone. But when i do so the Emulator strikes with this error:
    javax.microedition.media.MediaException: Player cannot be created for capture://audio
    so i tried this: System.getProperty("supports.recording") and it returns false. But when i read over the specification of the WTK it says that it should support the Audio capturing. Is this error based on the implementation of the WTK on OSX or have some Windows users also the same problem?
    here is my implementation for the Audio recording:
    public void commandAction(Command comm, Displayable disp){
            if(comm==recordCommand){
                try{
                    p = Manager.createPlayer("capture://audio");
                    p.realize();
                    RecordControl rc = (RecordControl)p.getControl("RecordControl");
                    ByteArrayOutputStream output = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
                    rc.setRecordStream(output);
                    rc.startRecord();
                    p.start();
                    messageItem.setText("recording...");
                    Thread.currentThread().sleep(5000);
                    messageItem.setText("done!");
                    rc.commit();
                    recordedSoundArray = output.toByteArray();

                try {
                    ByteArrayInputStream recordedInputStream = new ByteArrayInputStream
                          (recordedSoundArray);
                    Player p2 = Manager.createPlayer(recordedInputStream,"audio/basic");

  • Capture audio with microphone and save to disk

    Hello,
    I would like to know if there is any way to record audio from
    user's output? Let's say I capture it using its microphone, and I
    want to create an audio file with it, or a swf file or whatever
    file it is. I need to save that audio for further playback. Can
    someone point me in any direction!? I have been surfing on this
    topic but I didn't find anything, apparently it can't be done, but
    I would love otherwise.
    Thank you,
    JCA

    Yes that's the way it could work. FMS is designed for
    streaming audio, video and data around keeping things synchronised
    in real time, but it can save the streams to be played back later
    as well.
    It would be an expensive solution if that's all you want to
    do.... there is an open source 'version' in development... called
    red5, but I think you need to know how to program in java, although
    I'm not sure.
    Or you could look at adobe connect/formerly macromedia breeze
    - It prebuilt and is a pay for use service, but does much more than
    what you're looking for. I'm pretty sure you can custom logo it
    etc. You might want to try the free trial account and check it
    out.

  • Capture audio with PDAs

    Hi,
    I'm developing an application for PDAs and Smartphones in which I have to integrate a voice recorder, so I'm working with MMAPI 1.1 . With the emulator the application works but on the HP iPAQ 5450 I get the error message "unsupported protocol" when I try to create the Player with "capture://audio" as parameter. I'm using the J9 virtual machine from IBM, and I have installed all the correct updates which refers to MMAPI.
    By reading on this forums I've known about applications like this on Nokia 60's series device.
    Is there anyone who has developed applications like this for other devices (especially PDAs)?
    On which device it works ?
    Thanks.

    Yes...
    Well, almost
    If you keep "Punch On The Fly" enabled, Logic is actually ALWAYS recording, although once you hit stop, that buffer is cleared.
    So the trick to this is, if you are playing along (guitar or voice), and you realize you should have recorded that take, simply hit RECORD, BEFORE you stop. You can then "peel back" the audio region (drag the left side of that short region you'll have when stopping what you were playing to hit the record button), and drag it to the LEFT. You'll see all the audio you were playing there.

    Sometimes, in play mode I have been playing along on the keyboard, conclude and then realize that I did was not in record mode.
    A find that if I stop, issue the Ctl-* (numpad) that it will capture what is in the play buffer and slap it in to the sequence at hand.  Saved!

  • Capturing Audio with JMF

    Howdy, folks.
    Relative JMF newbie, here. I'm trying to write an app to capture audio from my sound card. Got the basics done, now I want to add some fancy stuff. Specifically, I'd like to show a display of the waveform.
    Now, when I create a datasink, I need to provide the processor (where the data comes from) and the medialocator (where the data goes to). The only way I know to build a medialocator is to give it a URL or a string for a file name. Is it possible to put the actual byte data directly into a buffered reader or something so I can translate it into a graphic waveform or do I have to write it to disk, and then read it back?
    Thanks for any help,
    Russ

    did you find any solution??
    please let me know thanks.
