Capture change on certain columns only in ODI,
Hi experts:
Need you help to suggest the proper way to meet the following requirements.
Requirements”
(a) Source– Oracle 11g, need to track changes to 2 columns only - [Table A, Column A1] & [Table B, Column B1]. These 2 columns may be changed many times during a day.
(b) Every 4 hours, based on what are captured from (a), find out the distinct rows changed (i.e. based on primary keys of Table A, Table B) , and only ship the most current row images for these rows to target
(c) Target – Sybase, meet to perform transformations on the 2 column values (i.e. Column A1, Column B1) to map to target table [Table C, Column C1]
From my limited understanding, I think trigger-based CDC is to be used. However, not sure how to do this , especially (a) and (b). For example, where do we configure trigger logic to achieve (a) from the ODI studio ?
Your help is much appreciated.

(c) Target – Sybase, meet to perform transformations on the 2 column values (i.e. Column A1, Column B1) to map to target table [Table C, Column C1]To be honest the target is irrelvant, you just need to decide if you want to do the transformation on the source on the way out of oracle (set staging area different to target and choose your Source logical schema).
I would design an interface that uses Table A and Table B as the sources, do the join , transformation on Oracle and map to Target Table C, choose your staging area based on where you want the joins / transformation to take place, pick a Knowlege module based on Technology and how you want to update the target.

From my limited understanding, I think trigger-based CDC is to be used. However, not sure how to do this , especially (a) and (b). For example, where do we configure trigger logic to achieve (a) from the ODI studio ?You can use Synchronous (Trigger based) or Asynchronous (Logminer / Streams based) to perform what you want, see this nice guide on setting up CDC and consuming the changes :
http://soainfrastructure.blogspot.ie/2009/02/setting-up-oracle-data-integrator-odi.html
If your friendly with your source system DBA then I prefer Asynchronous CDC , its less intrusive than triggers, it does however need a bit of knowledge on how to monitor it, Metalink / Support has plenty of info.
>
Your help is much appreciated.You welcome, have a play with it in a demo environment and get a feel for how you consume the captured changes (Lock Subscriber, Extend Window, Consume, Purge + Unlock, Loop) etc.
The guide I've linked to uses an ODI WAit for Data to trigger the consumption of changes, you have stated every 4 hours so I would skip the ODI wait for data and simply schedule your package to run every 4 hours.

How can I change the output for certain columns only?
I am finding it hard to explain my issue , as I am very green when it comes to database, but I will try my best.
I am writing a script that will query a database and output 5 columns, the first and last name of a student, the last name of their adviser, their enrollment status, and how many years they have been enrolled.
I have the student's enrollment date and graduation date stored, however not all students have graduated, so that field is null for some students.
my question is, how can I use their enrollment status of graduated to change the calculation of how long they were enrolled for.
This is what I have so far :
SELECT
STUDENTS.NameFirstS,
STUDENTS.NameLastS,
STUDENTS.EnrollStatus,
TRUNC((MONTHS_BETWEEN(SYSDATE, STUDENTS.EnrollDate))/12) as Years,
FACULTY.NameLast
FROM
STUDENTS,
FACULTY
WHERE
STUDENTS.ThesisAdvisor = FACULTY.FacultyId
I'm not sure where to go form here, like I said, I am very new. Thank You in advance!Thank you for the warm welcome :)
My Oracle Version is 11.2.0.1.0
Here is the create statement I used for the table.

<li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS</li>
<li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)</li>
<li>Browser(s) and version(s) used</li>

What exactly are you talking about?
Is it a report, If then which report Interactive or Classic?
In either of them you can do conditional display of column using the same login
Look at this for options http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21674/bldapp_rpt_att.htm#BCEBDIFA -
Display a particular column only when certain criteria is satisfied
Hi Experts,
I have a requirement from a user with which i am struggling. The person wants to see an entire report but see a particular column only when certain criteria is satisfied. I am not talking about filtering the entire Query but just a certain column.
Ex.
Data in Cube
Req | Candidate | Candidate Status | Grade
1 | C01 | Draft | A
1 | C02 | Withdrawn | B
2 | C03 | Hired | B
3 | C04 | In Process | A
3 | C05 | Hired | C
Result in Query
Req | Candidate | Grade
1 | <Blank> | A
1 | <blank> | B
2 | C03 | B
3 | <blank> | A
3 | C05 | C
Basically, user wants to see candidate information only when Status is Hired. Rest of the time, it should be blank.
Is this possible ?Hi,
From My view this is not possible in Query.
You can do this in Backend or
You can create 2 Query
1.Query whith candidate name who is hired.
2.Query without candidate name whose status is not hired.
3.Merge these these report using Excel Macro.
Thanks and Regads,

What property/preference sets block property "Update changed columns only"
Hi, we are wondering how Designer (latest version 10.1.2.4) desides when it generates a form with block property "Update changed columns only" set to Yes.
Under some cricumstances this property is No in the generated .fmb
We checked the object library, but the .olb has this property set to No, so Designer overrules it.
Our goal is to generate all blocks with the "Update changed columsn only" set to No, because we ran in a forms bug that it can't handle Insert statements on blocks with this property set to Yes (ORA-01036). This bug only occurs in the latest forms version 10.1.2.3
Hope anyone can help to force this property to be No when we want to achieve 100% generation from Designer.
Kind Regards
Auke Quist
Edited by: aukequist on Oct 13, 2008 8:49 PMI think that's not possible in designer. You could define a block with this property set in the template form or in the object library. The use this block use the template/library object property in designer.

How to generate a form with a data block with the "Update Changed Columns Only" property set to "yes" from Designer 9.0.4.6? Is there an equivalent for this property in Designer? Or do I have to create a library object which I then have to subclass from?
Thanks in advance
GeraldHi Gerald
When you look in the help of Designer (Generated data block properties (implicit/explicit)), the Forms property "Update Changed Columns Only" is not mentioned. That implies that there is no property/preference in Desinger that will influence the value of this Forms property.
So yes, you have to create a library object and subclass from it.
Another solution is to work with the Forms built-ins GET_BLOCK_PROPERTY and SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY in a Pre_Form trigger, but I personally would prefer a new library object for this.

Shading certain columns depending on start day of week.
Good Afternoon,
I have reason to edit the calendar wizard to make it completely automated. And before anyone says that this isn't used anymore, we've received 2 separate calendar files over the last made from our Finance departments, each making them with Word calendar
wizard highlighting year end dates. So believe me, the calendar wizard is still very much in use!
Last September, I finally figured out how to automate the first day of the week, though. I have 2 templates now, one for Monday as first day and one for Sunday being the first day of the week.
The only thing missing is to automate the shading so that the columns for Saturday and Sunday are shaded with light grey, and since it's automation we're talking about, only those cells in the columns with a number in them.
I know it's do-able, I'm just not a vb expert, only being able to handle editing simple macros.
But I understand that since I had some help with the macros and they might have changed from the original to some degree, that I should post the code. Is this correct? I hope that it is.

The above is from the module labelled "Calendar". I don't believe anything was altered in the module labelled "Common", but please let me know that I should post it.
To recap, in this wizard file, the first day of the week is set for Monday. So the Saturday and Sunday columns always fall as the last 2 columns in the calendar table (Sunday as first day has the 1st and last column as the ones that would need shading).
How can that syntax be added to shade the last 2 columns in the Monday calendar wizard, and the 1st and last column for the Sunday calendar wizard and hopefully shading just those particular cells in either with numbers in them?
Thank you! Very much appreciated.Thanks, Doug! Works beautifully. I tried them again this morning, really incredible!
I'm going to keep the Monday and Sunday wizard files as separate files because I realized that I don't have the skills (or the time) to try to figure out how to modify it so the user is requested the starting day. It'll be beyond my meager skills,
I'm sure, especially since there are all those dialogue boxes to contend with at the wizard's start. I was forgetting about those. So leaving these as 2 separate files where one chooses the starting day as per the title, the Monday one for Monday
and the other, the Sunday one, for a Sunday start day.
However, the only difference between them at this point is that one has a "0" for Sunday and the other a "1" for Monday, at the appropriate spots in the code. being the starting week day and the other a "1" for Monday.
That's it. They're beautifully the same in the rest of the code. And a further benefit is that only one module was touched at all for all of this, the Calendar module (leaving the one labelled "Common" untouched.
So anyone with a calendar wizard file can just change the piece of code below (begging the group's indulgence, if I may, in posting the modified code (??):

Format for certain columns in list view control
I have a list view control and I would like to format the alignment for certain columns. I heard that the only way you can do this is by formatting the cells in excel. I tried this with no success. Can someone please give me step by step instructions on how to achieve this. I am currently allowing Xcelsius to handle my formatting for money. Is it possible to have Xcelsius handle the money formatting and have excel handle the alignment formatting. I am open to whatever works at this point. Also I am using Xcelsius 2008 (Build Number 12,2,1,66).
Much ThxHi,
In list view control you can format the entire row only, not a certain column.
Go to property>Appearance>Text Tab>select Header>Format selected text->select the format.
For width change: Property> Layout Tab>check custom column width the click the icon and enter width in pixel.

Help needed to mark or highlight certain columns in Data Modeler
Hi there,
We use the data modeler to present our data model to the security department to explain/prove for which columns we ran a data masking/anonymization function. I am looking for any kind of way to either highlight or change a set of columns across all tables. So far I could only identify the red dot for “not null” and the option to introduce a ADT/UDT like “ANONYMIZED” to show in the graphical representation what we have done. As we base our DM on empty tables for decent overviews including the PK/FK relationships we are quite flexible. Still the “misusage” of ”Not Null” or ADT/UDT columns does not go together with the required PK/FK’s. Does anyone know a way to mark or highlight certain columns automatically when importing a data dictionary? (Unfortunately RDBMS comments do not get included in any overview). Thanks a lot. Cheers StefanHi Philip, Thanks a lot for puting this enhancement request through.
Just downloaded the latest Patch upgrading to v 3.1.2-704 and confirmed that this functionality is not available yet.
Keeping your experience in mind what kind of expectation to you have for the approval and realization of your request?
Most likely this will take a couple of month – right? Or is there a beta version of 3.2 already available we could use.
Thanks a lot. Cheers Stefan -
Why is my ping so high in the first column only when i do a tracert?
When i do a tracert my ping is really high in the first column only on each hop and then it drops to a respectable level. Does anyone know why it is like this on my 4G LTE device? On my dsl when i do the same ping test its pretty even across on each hop. This is what im seeing when i do a ping test on my 4G LTE device.

Trace complete.hi there
see you never got an answer from vzw
take it you still have the high ping or no ping in my cases
your doing better then i
seems the lte is getting bad with this problem over time as my connection times out causing half loaded web pages and lots of buffering in video playback
i have had 3 tickets in the past 3 month to try and get this fixed but they say cant find anything wrong
and noone else is having the problem here are a few things that seems to have helped me out
1 increase your TTL time till live
this tells your computer to wait a bit longer before giving up and requesting that a packet of info be resent
2 in your computers network settings and reg you can change packet size to a smaller number and add a stop bit to the packet with a time stamp on each packet back in the old days this was what v 90 modems did to get v92 speeds and did help with noisy copper wire dial up and seems to help here too
http://www.dslreports.com/drtcp
is a tool that will help you change your computer setting and reg
use drtcp and the results from this page
http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks
xp win 7 win 8 this will help. vista did it right and dynamically change these settings on the fly and all of step 2 is unnecessary
remember your original settings write them down so you can go back to them should you have problems
also make a restore point and backup your reg before tinkering with windows os
send a private message to me if you need more help or get a computer savvy friend to help you out if you need
3 if your signal noise is under 4G -100bd the lower the better, there is a way to set your android to lte only mode.
more likely to lose data and voice in weak signal areas but great if tethering or hotspotting at home
dail *#*#4636#*#* this is a back door to your android software and is open source code by android os not vzw
and will not unlock your phone voiding warranties. be warned though if you set things wrong in here
you can make more problems be very sure what you change and do one thing at a time so you remember and can dial in again and change it back should you disable something you need. fyi each time you dial in the number it resets to vzw default setting and may look like it did not save setting but it doz. till you dial in again.
good luck
ron
ps im not a vzw rep in any way other then a fellow customer not getting answers. -
How to capture changed data at ALV screen
Hi ALV Experts,
I am using Following method for ALV display :-
CALL METHOD g_alv_grid_0200->set_table_for_first_display
EXPORTING
i_bypassing_buffer = 'X'
is_layout =
it_toolbar_excluding =
CHANGING
it_outtab =
it_fieldcatalog =
CALL METHOD g_alv_grid_0200->set_ready_for_input
EXPORTING
i_ready_for_input = '1'.
Now I am changing few values in ALV screen and capturing through following Method :-
CALL METHOD g_alv_grid_0200->check_changed_data
IMPORTING
e_valid = l_valid.
THIS ABOVE METHOD STRANGELY CAPTURES CHANGES IN QUANTITY AND DATE FIELDS ONLY AND NOT IN CHARATER FIELDS.
Can somebody suggest how to capture changes of character fields also.
Thanks in Advance,
ChandanHi,
Check whether the following logic helps.
p_er_data_changed TYPE REF TO cl_alv_changed_data_protocol.
DATA :
lwa_mod_cell TYPE lvc_s_modi,
lwa_mod TYPE ty_mod.
LOOP AT p_er_data_changed->mt_good_cells INTO lwa_mod_cell.
lwa_mod-row = lwa_mod_cell-row_id.
APPEND lwa_mod TO i_mod.
ENDLOOP.

How to restrict AS02 access to certain fields only
How to restrict AS02 (Asset Master Record) access to certain fields only. Currently when you assigned AS02 to a certain user, this will enable the user to change all the fields in the asset master record. Suppose i want only the user to restrict the access to certain field eg.NDJAR (Life in Yrs).
Thanks for your inputs.
Regards,
Roberthello,
basis has to assign the proper activity with object A_S_ANLKL. in this case they have to allow activity 03 only with combination of Cocode,asset class. see some more details below.
This authorization object is the first part of the object "asset master record."
The definition at this level determines whether the user is authorized to process data in a given company code. The activity type for the transaction is also defined here. This authorization object is used for master data transactions, for the display of value fields, and for reporting.
Defined Fields
The following fields are assigned to the authorization object
Asset class (specified by entering a value in the pop-up window)
Company code (specified by entering a value in the pop-up window)
Activity type - there are three different activity types:
01 = Create
02 = Change (including blocking and deleting)
03 = Display -
Help! Batch Capture Changes My Logged Clips' Media Start & Media End
I'd be very grateful for any help on this.
I log a tape with about 40 clips ranging from 30 seconds to 4 minutes. I select the clips and start a batch capture. Everything appears to be capturing normally and I receive no error messages or dropped frame warnings - after my last clip is captured I get a "Successfully Captured" message.
However, as soon as I click "Finished," all of my clip media start's, media end's, and durations in the log window arbitrarily change to weird times. All my media start points are 26 frames too early (I've tripple-checked that "Add Handles" is indeed deactivated), and the media end points make no sense at all.
A clip that was once 44 seconds long is now only 12 seconds long, the media end point moved a whopping 34:03 too early. Another clip will become 2 seconds longer, the media start point still shifted back 26 frames, but with the media end now 31 frames too late. Checking the original files on my drive confirms that only these weird, unusable segments are what has been captured.
What complicates things is that I just discovered today that if I capture locally to my internal hard disk, the clips capture normally (the times remain unchanged). But if I set my capture scratch to my external hard drive (a LaCie F800 2-TB RAID-5 using Firewire-800), that's when the clips start changing themselves. I ran disk utility and found no errors on the drive, and have never had a problem with it or any part of my configuration until the last month or so... the only changes to my system being the regular use of Software Update.
On top of that, my colleague is experiencing a similar problem with batch capture changing his clip times, even though he is using a different computer (single-processor G5), a different video deck (Sony DHR-1000), and a different storage medium (Apple Xserve RAID).
So my question is: What is happening! The only thing I can think of is that perhaps some update has a bug - but I can't find anyone with a similar problem online.
Any help on this would be extremely appreciated! Thank you in advance for your advice.
Dual 2.3GHz PowerPC G5 Mac OS X (10.4.4) Deck: JVC CU-VH1 / Storage: LaCie F800 2-TB RAID-5
Dual 2.3GHz PowerPC G5 Mac OS X (10.4.4)Here's an update on this. Both my colleague and I have confirmed that if we capture to an internal or external drive that is not a RAID FCPro batch captures just fine.
But, if the drive we are capturing to is a RAID (in my case a LaCie Biggest F800 and his case an Apple Xserve), then we get dropped frame reports and/or clip in's and out's changing after the batch capture is complete.
We even tried reformatting one of the xServe's and rebuilding it as non-journaled, it didn't solve the problem.
It seems impossible that we're the only ones to be experiencing this problem... does anybody have any help or suggestions!? -
How to track changes in text [column type] changes in MDM
Hi,
How to keep track changes in Text[column type] in MDM tables.Is it the only way that I have to declare it as Name field?Hi,
You keep track of changes for a field by enabling change tracking for that field in MDM. This functionality is available in the MDM Console.
For more information please have a look at the MDM Console Reference Guide -> Part 4: Repository Maintenance -> Other System Tables -> Change Tracking Table
The MDM Console Reference Guide can be found in http://service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP NetWeaver -> Release 04 -> Operations -> SAP MDM -> MDM 5.5 SP02 - Console Reference Guide
Hope this helps,
Richard
