Capture Device for PE 4

Hi everyone, I have Premiere Elements 4 and have currently been using Turtle Beach VideoAdvantage PCI to capture my videos, however, I am planning to upgrade to Windows 7 soon, and my capture device won't work on Win 7.  Can anyone here suggest a decent-quality capture device, that I could buy that would be compatible with Premiere Elements 4 & Windows 7?  I don't mind spending a bit more for quality, but I MUST HAVE s-video and RCA connections for capture as my current setup doesn't have firewire.  Please suggest only devices that will be Premiere elements friendly & Win 7 compatible.
Thanks all
...bert

Thank you for the clarification. Actually, after I re-read, and pondered some more, I went up to the studio to check out my Turtle Beach Advantage, and saw that it even added a FW connection, and I checked its specs. to see that it did have a controller chip, to take the stress off the MoBo's FW chips. Then, I thought of a third meaning - the one that you just verified.
Now, back to your request: either the 110, or the 300 should work fine for you. I will be adding the 300, for those mentioned timebase corrections, etc. Though my Turtle Beach has done well, with few complaints, it will soon be legacy hardware, like my SyJet discs and drive...
I'm sure that there are some good competitors, but I have yet to find them.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Looking for RCA capture device for streaming

My newspaper does some random video streaming of some events...however, we generally use a Windows PC Laptop (which is less powerful than the MacBook Pro I'm wanting to use, for several reasons such as convinience and well, the better performance).
We have a RCA capture device that takes video and audio in from a basic Canon video camera and then feed that into Livestream.
I know Blackmagic Design has a video capture device for Apple, but it's $149. Is there something cheaper out there for Macs? Our RCA capture device we use on Windows will not work on Mac.
It just takes the RCAs and we plug it into the USB port. A firewire port would be fine too.

I have read through some more forums and I only found one mention of the Media Manager 'Recomress' function.
    It said:
"Transcoding with MM (recompress). It preserves timecode/reel name, file names, etc... Except the clip ID, which is used along with reel name and timecode to batch capture from source files (at least for P2)."
Clip ID is the metadata relyable for the work of batch capture. It seems without it it is impossible to batch capture.
I wonder why they designed Recompress like that, if it is true?

  • Barcode scanner and signature capture device for BB

If anyone is looking for a great barcode scanning and signature capture device for the BlackBerry, let me know.  The EnterMoCase is a ruggedized enclosure for the BB that incorporates barcode scanning and signature capture in a single-handed device.  It also has advanced power management features that allow the case to charge the BB when it gets below 40% of power.

Can you contact me directly about this application? I would like to discuss our requirements and understand if they will match with system capabilities.

  • HDMI capture devices for IMac

I noticed that blackmagic design are moving on to less expensive USB 3.0 in their HD video capture devices so I did a bit of lookin around to see weather the Imac or mac book pro could somehow be outfitted with usb 3.0 connections. It turns out that the mac book pro will work with a usb 3.0 card. Unfortunately though, black magic still does not doesn't show any signs of addressing support issues for apple and the usb 3.0 device compatibility issue. Does anyone know which way apple is leaning on the whole usb 3.0 thing. I'm pretty sure it offers exceptional increases in speed over even fw800. Or at least the potential for those increases as a matter of spec. And why not jump on the blueray-r while were at it.

No, there is not. HDMI options on capture cards didn't arrive until after MacPros were released and G5s were discontinued. The only capture cards that work on G5's do not offer HDMI inputs. The Intensity series are PCIe only...AJA Kona line with HDMI are PCIe only....Matrox MXO2 line are PCIe and Express34 only. And your G5 has PCI-X slots.
The AJA Kona 2, Kona LH, Decklink HD cards...things you can only find second hand...do not offer HDMI inputs. You are on a machine that was discontinued 4 years ago, HDMI support was not invented yet.

  • Opinions on low cost USB video capture devices for FMLE?

I have already tried a few such devices.  I would at least like to achieve reasonable SD at 720 X 480.  HD would be a plus, but not necessary.  My camera has HDMI, SDI, and Component and composit out.  I have already tried a couple of capture devices, and the results were as follows.
SIIG USB 2.0 Video Capture Device - JU-AV0012-S1
Pretty clear as to why this was so cheap.  It claims full NTSC support, but that is only on the input.  Output is 320 X 240 only.
DIAMOND USB 2.0 HD Game Console Video Capture Device GC500 USB 2.0 Interface
Again, this unit claims "HD" but that is only on the input.  Output is 640 x 480.  The image quality was terrible with the supplied software, or with Adobe FMLE.  Noisy, and well below full NTSC quality.  Even when fed with the component out of a Sony NX5.  Unacceptable.  Even for the bargain price at Frys.
Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition
Seems I bought a dud.  I went back and forth with Hauppauge support, and never could get this to be detected by FMLE, or the included software.  On doing a search online for the error message I received, I discovered many similar trouble reports on various forums.  I bought this one at a discounted price.  Perhaps this is the reason why.
The notebook I have is a Windows unit, with no expresscard slot, or 1394 input (unfortunately).  I did look briefly at the Blackmagic Intesity Shuttle, but it needs USB 3.0.
Curious to hear of any sucess with USB capture and FMLE, and with a device under (hopefully well under?)$200.

I've been streaming with the ION Video2PC capture device...it works flawlessly with no problem. The machine I've been testing it on can only pump out 480p or 540p at the most. But, I'm sure if I used it on a faster machine I would get way better results. You can find them used under $30 bucks online and unlike most cheap capture/input devices, you can access the video and audio in FMLE. Just thought, I'd share they info.

  • TV Tuner or Video capture device for MBP

I'm wondering if there is a device usb or expresscard34 that can allow me to watch cable TV or just a composite video input device that can be used with a cable box. I know there must be lots of devices for PPC Macs but which ones actually work on MBP and which one do you guys recommend? I'm looking for something below $150. Thanks in advance!
    MacBook Pro 1.83Ghz 1GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I have been using an Elgato eyeTV DTT on an Intel Mac mini and it has been working really well using version 2.1 of the eyeTV software.
The eyeTV software comes with all Elgato eyeTV devices and works fine on Intel macs.
I am very impressed with the Elgato devices and can recommend them.

  • I need a video capture device for downloading Band and family video tapes.

Hi,  I need to download some old video tapes before they turn to dust.  Are there any fairly inexpensive video capture devices that work well with the Imac?
    Thanks

Are they VHS video cassettes or something like 8MM camcorder tapes?
If they're camcorder tapes, usually it's best to try to buy an old video camera (MUST have FIREWIRE port).
Then you can play the tape in the camera and capture from the Firewire. Also important, if you have a 2010 (maybe 2009?) or newer iMac, you'll need a cable that is Firewire 400 to fit the camera at one end and Firewire 800 at the other end to connect to the iMac.

  • RGB, Composite, Firewire and S-video capture device for FCP

    Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone could suggest some of the better capture cards that support RGB composite, firewire and s-video inputs that will work with FCP.
The set up is on Mac Pro and the device needs to be as reliable and noise free as possible as it will be used for the capturing of video for evidence in court cases.
Any help is this area would be very grateful,
    Regards,
    Martin.

    Hello,
I have no experience with the AJA product line but I know that many of the folks here have used them. They make a good line of cards that will do what you are asking for. They don't have firewire on the cards, but the computer you are using should have one I would assume.
Since you said 'S-Video' my thoughts are that you are only using SD? If that is going to be the case for a long time then look at this card:
    http://www.aja.com/products/kona/kona-lse-ls.php
It has composite and S-Video inputs. IF there is the chance that you are going to be doing HD and IF it is still tape based, then look at one of the higher models. But again, that is if you are going to be upgrading to HD sometime soon.
    Hope this helps.

  • Adobe premiere elements 12 with diamond vc500 one touch video capture device.

Adobe premiere elements 12 and using Diamond vc500 one touch video capture device.
AVI files will not load into Adobe premiere elements 12.
I bought what I thought were the two best software and capture devices.
I am archiving old VHS tapes and using Diamond vc500 capture software called EZ grabber. I thought the best archiving format would be AVI files. As I just started this project. I am willing to do what is needed.
That even being, going and buy another capture device that being for a VCR to PC using a USB are even a Video card.
EZ grabber software ask you to record in what format. I picked AVI. There is DVD - SVCD - VCD - MPG4. I want to archive then go back and edit. The DVD or SVCD format, is that not the same as mpeg 2?
You and I know the drill. Saving in what long term archive format and that dare thing about video compression and losing quality of the videos. Its all a nightmare.
Once again I am willing to buy another capture device for a VCR that will work with Adobe premiere elements 12.
Help please with long term archiving format and capture device.
    Thanks

    The answer is B.
Capturing the VHS content to computer (via the Diamond vc500 and USB connection and EZ grabber) to obtain an .avi file on your computer and then trying to import that into Premiere Elements with its Add Media/Files and Folders?
When I do that, the Adobe premiere elements 12 crashes or only loads a 2 mins of video.
The firewire connection device "Canopus" product sounds great. But I really don't want to spend that much on my home videos. My PC does not have a Firewire connection. So add a new card for that and the Canopus product. I could just pay someone to do my VHS tapes.
    Diamond vc500 $35
    Adobe premiere elements 12 $65
    Firewire card $50 plus
    Canopus $180
$330 is way too much for simple home VHS videos

  • Video Capture Devices?

What is a good video capture device for the macbook that I could use to capture video from my video camera(which has no firewire or USB ports on it).

Your camera is a Hi8 and is also known as "analog". I'm an editor.
Since you're camera doesn't have a FireWire port (which is what all capturing is done with), there's no way to capture without an external device, as you may know.
So, I suggest getting the Canopus ADVC-110. I have it and it works flawlessly with FCP (which is what I edit in) and it will work with iMovie also. There is also the Canopus ADVC-55. For both of these adapters, you'll need to hook up the RCA (white, red and yellow) cables to the device, and capture. Your camera should have RCA inputs. These devices are a little expensive, but they work great. No additional software/drivers. It's worth it.
    Canopus ADVC-110
    Canopus ADVC-55
Similar in price, personally I would get the ADVC-110.
Remember to mark as helpful or solved.

  • Vido capture devices under $100

im tryin to get a video capture device for my macbook so i can record my socom 2 playing and i was wondering if there were any suggestions for this. i dont have a camcorder and would like to record to imovie from my vcr im looking for suggestions on devices and techniques any suggestins are helpful

Miglia TVMicro will record an antenna input. Maybe you can run you game through a vcr, then split the vcr out to the TV and the TVMicro. You could even use the Mac to play the game instead of the TV if you wanted, as it is an "over the air" tuner.
Then you can edit what you've recorded as you like....
Here's a link to some info on this device, and there is a link to other capture devices.

  • Coremediaio support, supporting modern capture devices

Planning to write a coremediaio virtual capture device for OSX. coremediaio is apple's modern replacement for quicktime video digitizer components
Any plans to use QTKit and recognize such devices? It appears that FLME is still using the ancient sequence grabber. Any plans to port flash live media encoder to 64 bit.
    best,
    Tuviah

Windows media player 11 can play AVCHD very well on windows vista already. And the .MOV native support actually worries me. If that happens, would apple still be making quicktime for windows? will quicktime pro still be on windows? because as far as i know there was no more windows media player on the mac as soon as flip4mac(well, it was made by microsoft..) came out.

  • I'm looking for a capture device that is compatible with Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder. I bought elgato but it is not compatible. Anyone know?

I'm looking for a capture device that is compatible with Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder. I bought elgato but it is not compatible. Anyone know?

This is just a shot in the dark....
Do you have all your devices hooked up (and on) when you launch FMLE?  For example -- your camera or digitizer?  When FMLE launches it will try to launch with the last known settings... including input devices.  If it can't find these devices (they're not hooked up and on) it can crash, although in most situations it will simply show a default screen with default settings.
If you do have your equipment hooked up (and on) when you launch FMLE, try unplugging them and then launching FMLE so that it opens up in default configuration mode (no input devices selected; all default settings).  Then uncheck the "preview" boxes for both your input and output preview windows.  Close FMLE and then plug in your equipment (and turn it on) and relaunch FMLE.  I offer this suggestion as FMLE can sometimes act funny when the preview windows are open with certain types of input devices.  Don't worry -- you don't have to keep the preview windows off forever.  If you can get FMLE to successfully launch with the preview windows off, then you can set your settings however you like and save the profile.  Then quit and relaunch FMLE and then turn the preview windows back on and see if it works.  If it does, great.  Just be aware that making any settings changes while the preview windows are open could result in FMLE crashing.   Again -- this only happens with some capture devices, such as certain Dazzle capture boxes.
If none of this works, you could always try to upgrade to FMLE 3.2 and see if that solves your problem.

  • Playing video from a capture device - Out of memory for video buffers?

Hello guys, I'm having problems playing video from a video capture device when not using JMStudio. When I use JMStudio, the video plays real time with no problems, but when I use code taken from a java book which is a simple Media Player, I get the following error:
"Error is Error: Out of memory for video buffers."
My capture device is working and I don't know why i get this error when trying to watch the video feed from a program other than JMStudio. I also tried different code that has worked in the past with the same exact capture device and I still get the same error. Please help, I have no clue at this point. The code for the simple media player is below, it's taken out of the book "Java: How to Program (4th edition)":
Thanks in advance, I am very greatful
