and i want my video captures to be recorded when the audio is recorded thru my proffessional sound card. can i do that?

you can take the output of your audio mixer and run it into the headphone jack on the iPhone and it will use that as the audio for your video recording.

  • Only right and left channels work with external sound card

Just got the USB Sound blaster xfi surround 5.. connected it to my laptop and connected to my home theather in a box using optical connection.
downloaded and installed latest software but when I do a channel check I only get sound out of the right and left and even then it does not sound right.
I have verified that my home theater in the box will play 5. with optical input and have verified with the built in test tones of the home theater that all speakers are working and correctly hooked up.
The laptop is ruiing windows xp 3.
    Any suggestions.
    Thank you.

Which S&V vi's do you mean to be dedicated to NI hardware?
A quick peek into the addon show me waveforms as input and the sound vis have a waveform output.
OK I didn't look at the examples and by habbit ignore the express vis .   But maybe you just want to use a program instead of programming your application?

  • Which external sound card with optical out is compatible for macbook

hello guys!i got a macbook model 2011 and i want to connect with my speakers which is logitech z5500 with an optical cable!Of course i have read a lot of answers in various forums that told me about the optical out of mac which is the headphones out too!but this doesnt give me real surround 5.1 and i want something more specific such as an external sound card to give me the real sound!i prefered Creative Xfi pro but i have also read that iOSX doesnt recognize the soundcard or have various problems!
    please help me !!!!

No Creative sound cards are fully compatible with Vista at this time. Nobody really knows if or when there will be fully working, stable drivers from Creative that work with Vista. If you really need sound, the only fully working cards are from C-media I believe. My on-board C-media sound chip works perfectly with Vista.

  • Ipad sound to external sound card.

hi .. i have an ipad 2 and i am wondering if i can use an external sound card .that will get and input (usb) from the ipad via using the dock cable ( white ipad cable).
what i mean to say is .. i want to use this ipad as a player and the sound goes to an external professional sound card and from the sound card the output ( rca/ xlr or trs) to a mixer/amplifier .
    thanks

Looked into that. May work for your problem but not with the Jam. I contacted dockStubbs and they are aware of the problem and supposedly working on a fix. I have searched high and low for an answer and cannot find one. Here is a tech support request I sent Apogee today.....
"Trying to figure out how to charge ipod while using the JAM. Love the interface but need to figure out a way to charge while playing. Split apogee cord open and tapped in a usb cord to the black and red wires. That powers up the jam but no charging power to ipod. There is an extra blue wire in cable, don't know what it is for. I have not attemted tapping into the green and white wires. I know the ipods, iphones, ect require the data wires be tied to +5v and -5v with some simple resistors in order to get 2.8v and 2v on data wires to initiate a charge but I am fearful that if I do that it will roast the JAM. I think the blue wire has something to do with providing some sort of power but not sure what. Also noticed that there is no blue wire in the USB to JAM cable. Any insight would be much appreciated!
    Thank you,   "
Curious as to what kind of response I'll get.

  • Surround sound via external sound card

I'm looking to connect my W520 to a tv for watching movies. The video is all set up with a DP to HDMI adapter directly from the laptop to the tv. The sound, however, must pass through a receiver first. The receiver only has RCA inputs - it's quite old. I know the hypothetical setup would definitely work because I have a cable tv set top box connected that way.
What's missing is an external sound card that is:
    - compatible with the w520
    - capable of outputting 5.1 surround sound
    - capable of connecting via RCA, be it through an adapter or not
Can anyone recommend a reliable external sound card for the job?

Have you tried one of these?
    dynadock PA3927U-1PRP dynadock U3.0
You can stream 5.1 audio (and the video for that matter as it supports two displays). It also supports USB3.0 as an added perk (the dock itself can be plugged into a usb 3.0 port for best performance). It has one HDMI connection, one DVI-I, and an ethernet connection builtin as well as the usb connections.
PS Missed the bit about you only having RCA connections on your receiver. Lol I would get a new receiver. But then again this device may help you as it does have analog outputs (front, rear and c/sub). You would need to build/find cables though (3.5mm x3 to RCAs).
Btw no SPDIF? If no your receiver must be a pretty old one. Hope its a good one ;-). If you have an coax/optical input then there are also USB devices that will provide 5.1 (maybe even 7.1 nowadays) via the SPDIF connection.

  • External Sound Card Problems

I've been enjoying my HP dv7-1025nr for the past few months with no problems.  I recently decided to get into home audio recording and purchased an M-audio profire 2626 external sound card which connects through firewire.  I've yet to get any sound from my computer through the device.  I have downloaded and installed all the latest drivers several times (both for the profire and every other device on my computer).  I've also updated the flash bios for my hp (which i'm still trying to figure out why there's no "advanced" tab in the menu...other users have resolved irq issues this way and it's not even an option for me).  I have reinstalled my OS (several times).  The M-audio tech support suggested purchasing a dedicated firewire card with a TI chipset to solve previous connectivity issues, so I got a Siig 2-port ExpressCard.  My current problem is that even with the profire set as my default playback device, there seems to be a problem where windows is unable to send it any sounds.  If I try to use itunes or windows media player, the timer won't even start when i press play.  Everything works perfectly when i change the windows default playback device to anything else (laptop speakers, spdif out or nvidia hdmi out).  I'm confident that everything on the profire's end is working correctly and there must be some form of harware or software conflict (windows services or otherwise).  Device manager doesn't show and irq conflicts but i'm wondering if there could still be one.  Windows is recognizing the device and the m-audio control utility is working.  The profire also works perfectly through my other computer (a gateway laptop running xp).  I have spent 2 weeks trouble shooting this problem and have come to the conclusion it cannot be fixed through normal trobleshooting means.  I need a programmer to help me out with this one.  Please help.

I thought I'd share my most recent visitation of the digital poltergeist that is the Audigy 2 SB024x.
I was looking around my WinXP system panel and noticed that some program had changed the PERFORMANCE->ADVANCED->MEMORY USAGE from PROGRAMS (default) to SYSTEM CACHE.
Keep in mind as I detail this to you that this build is only a week old, and I've installed very few programs on it, drivers and test utilities mostly...
Anyway, I change the setting back to the default value (PROGRAMS) and hit OKAY. That very instant, the machine reported detecting new hardware, an Audigy! Given that I already had an A2 installed and mostly functional, this came as quite a revelation.
I checked the Device Manager, and sure enough, there it was. An Audigy was indicated as having been installed in the place of the newer model.
I reboot the computer, and when I revisit the Device Manager, the Audigy2 is back, BUT there is a problem (ROLMAO), the card's firewire adapter is all of the sudden marked as broken, so I uninstall it and reboot.
The machine goes through its startup, and I check the firewire and its okay, NOW, in Device Manager. Good, me thinks.
Then I go back and run 3DMark03, looking for my error message: FMOD error in FSOUND_SetPaused: Not enough memory
The benchmark completes without incident three times and the problem is solved. No more messing with my memory timings or sound accelartion. Hurrah!
In closing, I want to apologize to anyone whose patience that I may have tested with this mini-testament.
I have no idea why this series of cards http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=290217 is so difficult to configure for the K8N, but its really kind of a nightmare, IMO, and MSI really needs to take a look at it.
Please guys, there is a problem here, so would you please check it out for us.
    Thanks,
    Moe

  • External sound card

    Hi,
I'm looking for an external sound card for my 24" 2.4 GHz iMac either USB or FW. I don't need surround sound, but I do need good Vista driver support for gaming. The drivers for the onboard Realtek sound card produce a lot of cracking noises and pauses with Vista.
Any ideas? (Mind that I don't just want an external interface for the onboard sound card, but an external sound card)
    Thanks.

How do you call a device that splits the earphone and mic contacts

I'd call it an "adapter," but those of the UK persuasion would
prolly call it an "adaptor." Either way, I have no idea where
to get one for (yet another) weird Apple-proprietary connector.
Be aware that the iMac's "line input" isn't sensitive enough
for most microphones. You will probably need a mic preamp if
you want to use the Etymotic's microphone with the iMac.
The Creative XMOD has a "LineIn/MicIn" jack, but (as usual)
Creative's specs tell you next to nothing -- maybe it would
work with the Etymotic's mic output ...maybe NOT.
    good luck,

  • Compatible external sound card needed for mac mini...

I need an external sound card for a mac mini.  does anyone know which ones are compatible?

My experience is with consumer-level devices, not "pro" gear.  If I'm understanding correctly, you want to use the built-in sound output jack on the Mac mini with headphones, to monitor ("preview music"), while you use USB to output sound to a "mixer board."
I used a USB device a while back called PowerWave (from Griffin Tech).  I could output sound to it, and it acted as an amp to power standard "living room" (not self-powered) speakers.  It also had a mini-stereo jack on it, like the one on Mac mini, which could be used with headphones at the same time (I put a self-powered subwoofer on that output).  And it also had sound input.  It was very cool.
I also used a FireWire device called FireWave (also from Griffin Tech).  But that was more of a way to add 5.1 surround sound output to a Mac.
There is a current USB device from Griffin Tech called iMic.
    http://store.griffintechnology.com/desktop/imic (says "out of stock")
    http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-7725-IUAI-iMic-Audio-Interface/dp/B003Y5D776/ref=s r_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1339226388&sr=8-2
It's sort of a cheaper version of that old PowerWave, with a more limited set of features (no amp).  It does provide audio output (and input) from a USB port, and it's relatively inexpensive.  But, I'm not sure if you can send sound output to TWO devices at the same time, using standard system settings (if that's important for what you're doing).
I also found out about this recently

which might be useful for what you are doing...

  • Yamaha trigger box to external sound card

i've got a yamaha dtxpress IV and i need to record from a mac.
i am currently trying to find out which card should do the trick while being compatible to cubasis/asio.
the yamaha trigger box has a midi out, headphones and mic available...
i already have a cable from midi-out to usb...but i do not know if this will really do.
so what i really want to know is if there's an available external sound card from creative that could connect to a midi-out and be compatible to cubasis/asio at the same time.
ps:i have no clue whatsoever if this is something simple or not!!
    Cheers

    Hi again,
I just found a link on M-Audio's website (forum) that says the Fast Track Pro does not support sleep mode, and that I should set my computer to never go to sleep. *****, a little, but I guess it's not a huge deal. And, ultimately, what matters is the sound quality that I get. And, that is quite good!
In the meantime, your point about an external power supply (besides the USB power) is interesting, and a really good point. I wonder if I powered the interface with the optional external power supply, would that alleviate the problem (since the power to the M-Audio box would be continuous). I may, one day, order the optional power supply and check it out. In the meantime, I will simply set my computer to never go to sleep.
I do have a question in this regard, though: Is "going to sleep" the same issue as "screensaver". I ask this because I've figured out how to set the screensaver to "never", but I don't see anything about "sleep" mode. Is this the same thing? If not, how do I access the "sleep mode" settings?
    Thanks again!
    Vic

  • AUDIO QUESTION: Running external sound card plus internal sound a once

    Hello,
I have a question about the possibility of operating an external sound card (Line 6 tone port UX1) and operating internal audio at the same time. In system preferences, it just lets me have one or the other.
Is there a workaround or program that would allow me to do this.
It is necessary because I need a cueing output and a master output for djing with my m-audio xsession pro.
    Any suggestions would be great.

  • External Sound Cards for Captivate

can someone suggest a couple of external sound cards with
plug jacks for microphone that work well with captivate?

    Hi samarui,
"Creative Labs" has always built a decent sound card, as does
"M-Audio" and "Yamaha". Some Captivate users have reported
difficulties with USB audio cards, so if that's your pleasure,
trial and error might be the order of the day.
If you are using a PCI slot card for an internal
installation, note that caution should be taken to avoid conflicts
with audio built into the motherboard - though this may not be
necessary (or applicable) since your interest seems to be with
    external, not internal cards...
    In any case, good luck!

How do I activate a used iPhone 3G with no SIM card for use like an iPod Touch? It was apparently on AT&T previously and I have another iPhone 3 that is active on AT&T if that is helpful. Thanks!

    Copied from the link provided.
Follow these steps to use your iPhone without a wireless service plan:
Insert the SIM card from your new, activated iPhone or one that was previously used to activate the original iPhone.
Connect the iPhone to iTunes on a computer connected to the Internet.
Once iTunes activates the device, you're free to use the iPhone as if it were an iPod touch.
