Capture Noise Print (problem) - Soundbooth CS4

Hello,
I am having a "Capture Noise Print" problem with Soundbooth CS4.
I have 2 audio files:
File A (this is my noise print) I recorded a 4 minute file (.wav) of the ventilation system.
File B (this is the audio file that I want to improve: I want to remove the background noise of the ventilation system.
Q: How can I remove the background sound from File B using the noise print from File A?
I can only achieve this when both sounds are on the same file. Soundbooth CS4 doesn’t let me do this process when there are on separate audio files...(the box for "Capture Noise Print" is grey and cannot be selected)
Thanks for your time.

I have the exact same problem... I do this..
1.  Select 5 seconds of silence
2.  Click Capture Noise Print
3.  Select select a silent area
4.  Click Noise..
5.  Click "Preview".. whether On/Off buton is on/off, AND with Use Capture Noise Print selected, I hear no reduction.  Even at 100%/3dB
If I uncheck the "Use Captured Noise Print" option, then noise is removed, but I get the robotic voice
CS5 latest updates.
Any ideas?
TIA
EDIT::  Interesting.. closing SB, then reopening seems to resolve the issue.  Every so often it does the same thing, so I have to close/reopen SB.

  • Capture Noise Print BUG??

I Just started using Soundbooth approximately 4 months ago since its the only audio software our business has currently.  I must say first before I jump into this problem, that this program is completely Anemic when it comes to audio editing.  I have read on this forum that it is intended to be a "Video and Flash Audio Quick editor" which is understandable given the spectrum of the most popular programs Adobe puts out.  What is not understandable is when you purchase a "Master Collection" you receive a crumb (Soundbooth) instead of a cookie (Audigy).
    Now to the issue.
I have no clue why this is currently being an issue for me.  I am currently trying to use the noise reduction technique ( select noise > Capture Noise Print > Noise > have Use Caputred Noise Print checked )  This is simply not working 75% of the time which is very frustrating since 25% of my Voice Overs for my project are Cleaned of a minor background noise while the other 75% are not.  Noise removal works just fine with the "use captured noise print" check box un-checked (aside from the robotic audio artifacts added) but for the majority of the time, when checked, the filter acts as if it is not even on.  This continues even with adjustment of the 2 sliders.
Any insight to this asinine issue would be very appreciated.  Sooner than later I am on a deadline.
    Thanks

  • Capture Noise Print doesn't stick

I had to reinstall Audition CC to restore broken Dynamic Linking with Premiere. Now, whenever I capture a Noise Print then open the Noise Reduction process, it hasn't retained the profile. I have to capture from within the NR process in order to get a print. Simple enough to do but was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this.

I've also had it happen before and, like you, assumed it was me so I didn't report it.
Today I was being fairly careful because I was going to write a "did you do xxx" reply to the OP--and my first try didn't retain the noise print where my second one on the same recording did.
One thing I noticed was that the graphic display appeared to give noise print details but they's wouldn't move when I adjusted the sliders.
Possibly an intermittant bug?  Certainly one to keep an eye on.
    Edited to add an update:
Playing with the NR and noise print, it appears that the first time after opening Audition, if you use "Capture Noise Print" (Cntrl P) from the main "twirl down" it doesn't stick.  Subsequent uses of the facility are fine but, once you've closed Audition and re-opened it, you get another "blank".  I suspect the reason I've not noticed this properly before is that I quickly learned there are fewer clicks to simply go into NR and grab the noise print from there rather than get one "on the way in" as it were.
Anyhow, that's what's happening on my machine.

  • "Capture Noise Print" greyed out?

Hi, I'm new to Audtion, jumping over from using mostly Audacity.
I'm selecting at least 1 second of noise on a file in Multitrack, and the option to "capture noise print" is always greyed out.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Mac OSX

When I went from Effects / Noise Reduction / Capture Noise Print - is greyed out but when I went to Noise Reduction (Process) the I was able to Capture Noise Print.  This seemed like a fine work around but I'm not sure why the option doesn't work.  There was only a few seconds so I'm not sure but I guess its a non-issue.  Thanks for your time here!

  • Printing problem in CS4

Printing was working fine and then all of a sudden I can't print in Photoshop CS4 on my IMAC and Epson Stylus Pro 3880. I can print in other programs. I have OS 10.9.2.

I have had exactly the same error with Vista and a HP Z3100ps printer.
I'm guessing right now because I could not solve it when it happened on TWO computers.
Is it possible that the file's active layer is set to a text layer using a uninstalled font ?
I'm planning on deleting the printer, and re-adding it to see if this solves my problem.

  • Tabloid duplex printing problem from CS4 (Acrobat and InDesign)

I cannot print a two-page tabloid (landscape mode) pdf document properly from a MacBook Pro or a Mac Pro running 10.6.2 using Adobe Products (Acrobat 8 or 9, or InDesign CS3 or CS4) to an HP LJ5550DN. The printed version prints on both sides of the paper, but the right 1/4 of each page doesn't print. Furthermore, if I reboot and print just one side, it prints fine, but when I select duplex I get this problem and if I try to print just one side again, it prints w/o the 1/4 of the right side of the paper.
I can print the tabloid duplex correctly using Preview on the same computers. I can also print correctly using Acrobat 7 from a Mac G4 running Mac OS 10.4.11. I can print a single tabloid sheet correctly from Illustrator CS3 or CS4 from the Snow Leopard computers, but since Illustrator doesn't handle more than one page, can't send it duplex.
I conclude that the problem is the Adobe software under Snow Leopard. If you know what is wrong with the Adobe software, please send me the fix - it would streamline the process.

I'm having exactly the same problem, with a 5500dn. As with you, the problem is present in both CS3 and Acrobat 8 and 9, and I can print a duplex A3/tabloid PDF correctly with Preview. (only the colour balance is rubbish!)
Mac OS 10.6.2, print driver HP Color Laserjet 5500 v3010.107 (although it's obviously not the driver).
Needless to say, any solution to this needs to address CS3 and later apps.
    Bug report filed.
    Thanks,

  • Printing Problems in CS4 with EPSON R1900

I recent bought a new Epson R1900 and much to my dismay, I can't print from InDesign or Illustrator (haven't yet tried from Photoshop). Basically what happens is that the printer ignores any settings I configure, and prints with the "Default" settings. So not only can I not control the quality or media type, but by default it uses up the Glossy Optimiser, by assuming I want to print on glossy stock.
My workaround in the meantime is to create everything as a PDF and print from Acrobat. For some reason, Acrobat can talk to the printer.
Has anyone else found these problems? Is there any solution to be had?

Ive gone crazy trying to get ID CS3 to print on my HP Laserjet P1006. Various Adobe techs have spent hours trying to find a fix. They really have been very nice and all tried
to be helpful. And - THANK GOD - most of them spoke English. Im hard of hearing and
unfortunately speak very little Indian. (Someone told me that all ID techs speak english.)
It will print PDF. And CS3 Illustrator and Photoshop will print.
One tech suggested that I download CS4 for the 30 day trial to see if it will print. But, after
reading your problem, I will skip even trying.
For quite a while, I was told that it was an Apple problem and that 10.5.6 was going
to fix it. But it didnt. My printer prints a blank page.
Ive read other CS3 printer complaints. What good is a program that wont print?

  • Printing problems with CS4.

    Dear members:
After several attempts to print black-and-white photos in Photoshop CS4 I decided to give up and seek help.
I have followed the steps I believe are the right ones and the same I have used before with previous versions of Photoshop. First I applied the command Image > Adjustments > Black & White ... and my color photo became black-and-white on screen. I made an attempt to print but the print came out looking blueish (as if it had some kind of blue duotone applied to it). Second I tried the same settings and also set the printer (an Epson R 1800 photo printer) to black instead of color. Again the same result. In my last attempt I converted the image using the same command above (Image > Adjustments > Black & White ...), then I used the command Image > Adjustments > Desaturate and after that I applied the command Image > Mode > Grayscale. In addition to all these steps I also entered black in the printer dialog box instead of color. Still the print came out blueish just as it had before.
What must one do to "convince" Photoshop to print a color photo as a true black-and-white image ?
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Joseph

Thanks Milenium. I appreciate your response. Yes I do work in RGB. The profile is sRGB IEC 61966-2.1( The same as for all the photos) The monitor profile (Sony SDM-HS95P-DVI-D) is set at the system as well as the HP printer profile. I would like to update what has happened since my last post:
I reinstalled CS3 and installed a Canon Pixima 9000. The Cannon was just as much a mess as the HP vibrant colors and dark muddy prints, but the Canon had another problem...It was shifting red-magenta to yellow -orange However what I learned is that CS3 and CS4 were sharing some functions and settings even though I had the syncronization function turned off I.E, color settings, and working space. I couldn't bother with the Canon and since it was a loaner I took it out of the equationfor the time being. Next I read a post from 2004 on some web site from folks who were having similar problems with CS3 and HP printers( I never had a problem with this combo and as previously mentioned I do a great deal of wide printing with pretty good gosh darn results) Howerer, a poster said that she went into the system printer profile and deleted any profile there, then set up CS3 with no color management, and set the print function on the HP at application managed color( which she believed to be HP's no color management at the printer if if no color management is selected in photoshop. KInd of makes sense, she attained a 90% improvement in her prints. Well I gave it a shot and set everything up just as she suggested including the deleting of all the system printer files and got the same results as she did in back in 2004. A step foward I hope. If you have any other suggestions please let me know. My next step would be to remove Design Premium and see if that has any effect on restoring CS3 to it's previous standard vanilla set up of let the printer manage the color with the sRGB IEC 61966-2 profile.

Has anyone a suggestion on the Subject above?  My button seems to be permanently greyed out.

  • Can't Capture Selection for Noise Print?

Hello All... I'm new to Soundbooth and have been trying to reduce hiss in my audio.  I've read up and watched tutorials on capturing the noise print etc... I drag to select part of the audio and click on "Capture Noise Print" and it seems to do this.
The problem begins  when I click on "Reduce Noise"...for some reason the whole clip is selected (turns white) and when I click on "Preview" the clip begins playing from the beginning rather than playing the Noise Print Selection.  (despite having "Use Captured Noise Print" checked in the box)
Also... I noticed when I go to "Undo" it says "Undo Clear Fade Out"  I'm not sure why...
Any suggestions on what I'm missing or doing incorrectly?

OK, it's Wednesday and I am getting a little less forgiving, so sorry, but...
Do a search of this forum for FCP 4.5 and Quicktime x.x.x (insert your version of QT here) and you will realize that you have upgraded QT beyond the capabilities of 4.5.
    Solutions:
    1. Revert to QT 7.1.6
    2. Uprgrade FCP
Wow, I was more forgiving than I thought.
    Good luck.

  • Noise Print to Track?

    Hi,
Is there a way to capture a noise print and apply it to a whole track within a multitrack file? If I have a hundred little files that all have exactly the same BG noise going into a track back-to-back, the BG noise should automatically be reduced in each of them via a single captured noise print. Thanks.

The alternatives would be to use batch processing to apply NR to every clip you want to restore, or add the Adaptive Noise Reduction effect to the tracks which should be able to detect the background noise and separate it out.  Not as accurately as the standard NR effect, but it would work in this case.

  • Round trip problems: Trying to remove "noise print"

    Hi,
I am having trouble understanding the nature of STP's round-trip capabilities.
I have a 40 minute FCP timeline (FCP v5.1.4 on an MacPro). I need to remove some camera "hum" from the majority of the clips (I have 6 clips total).
My problem began about a week ago when creating a sample clip for the client to see, I used the Send To > STP Multi-track project. I opened the audio clips in the waveform editor and did a reduce noise print for both clips (I had to do this twice for each side of the stereo clips). When going back to FC, I felt the reduce noise was too strong, so I tried to return to the ST Multitrack project and could not undo the reduce noise print. When I checked the actual "capture" clip in the FCP Capture Scratch folder - the reduce noise is saved onto the clip - How and why did STP make that a destructive edit?
My second issue is with regards to removing the noise print from all the other clips. Do I need to individually edit each clip segment to reduce the noise print? And if so - is there a way to do this non-destructively?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!
    -J

I'm guessing here a little . . . you may have done a save when in "audio file project". That will over write a master clip's audio. Simply return to the multitrack project and do a save there instead. Then, the effects will be saved to the sent file, not the master clip.
Also, anytime I know I'm going to be doing some "heavy duty" audio sweetening, I duplicate the timeline. That way, anything goes awry, I've got a clean timeline to return to.

  • New problem printing from InDesign CS4 in Lion

After having great success with Aisolve's earlier fix on printing from InDesign CS4 after upgrading to Lion, I'm having a new problems after installing the OS X 10.7.2 upgrade last week. When I try to print from  InDesign CS4 and Illustrator CS4 to my Lanier 445c/Ricoh C4500 at my workplace I get the following error message:
"Printing Error: The Adobe Print Engine has failed to output your data due to an unknown problem."
This seems like a different issue this time, as I'm able to print to my home printers, an HP LasertJet 2600n and an HP Photosmart C4270. I thought it might be a printer driver problems, but I've gone to Lanier's site and they don't have any new printer drivers for Mac OS X 10.7.
I also some research on Adobe's site, and found this message affecting CS1, 2 & 3. I tried the only fix that seemed to apply to me, which was re-naming/deleting the InDesign Deafults and InDesign SavedData files. (I have this problems even when I'm printing a text-only file without any graphics.) This fix didn't work.
I can print to the Lanier/Ricoh from Acrobat 9, and all my non-Adobe software just fine, so my work-around to date has been exporting to PDF and printing from there. My big problem is that I need the "Print Booklet" feature in InDesign for a big job I've got coming up this week. Can't do that from Acrobat. :-(
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    mmsteer,
I think I may be able to help you with this problem, which I was having with CS4 when I first upgraded to Lion, and others were having with CS3. This fix is courtesy of Aisolve on these discussion boards:
Remove the Adobe PDF PPDs from the following folders:
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/en.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_CN.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Ja.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/ko.lproj,
    OS/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_TW.lproj,
Be sure to go to your system Library, not your user Library.
Also, regarding my current problem, I spoke with an Apple tech person and found that the 10.7.2 upgrade apparently is the culprit, and is incompatible with wireless printing to my Lanier printer. I CAN print connected through USB. That's a work-around for now, but I'll need to contact Lanier about upgrading their driver for OS X 10.7.2.
Aisolve was helping me with this issue, too, and assures me that if I'm able to generate a postscript file (which I was), and able to generate a PDF by distlling it through Adobe Distiller (which I am), then I can safely assume that the problem lies with the hardware, in this case the printer driver. This lines up with what Apple told me.

  • Illustrator cs4 and Epson Stylus R2880 printing problems

I am having printing problems.  I am trying to print from my cs4 to my epson stylus photo printer r2880 and am having problem with my picture getting cut off on the left side when I print.  The print screen looks perfect but when I go to print, it always cuts off the left edge and the bottom.  I tried playing with the x and y's but have no idea what I am doing.  Does anyone have this combination of cs4 with the R2880 printer and can help me solve my problem?

    Hi Wade,
I have tried playing around with that but I am not sure what I am doing.  Here's what it is set at.
On my drop down print screen, i have the size set as US Letter (Sheet Feeder Borderless (retain size).
When I check the 'fit to page' button it actually puts a bigger white boarder around it.  The fit to page number says (96.4706%).  Shouldn't it say 100%?  If I leave it as do not scale I still have a small border around it.
I am not sure about the xy settings.  When I have it to 'fit to page' it is:
Top left corner (0,0)  Top right corner (0,0)
Bottom left corner (0, .1632)  Bottom right corner (0, .1632)
If I have do not scale button clicked:
Top left corner (0,0)  Top right corner (0,0)
Bottom left corner (0, -.225)  Bottom right corner is (-.3, -.225)
Do these settings look correct?  If not, what should my setting say and how can I set it without the setting changing back everytime I open this window.
    Thanks for responding,
    Celeste
