Capture Problem, not working

I have a Sony VX2000 and a Sony HC40 capture camera and neither of them will capture with FCP anymore. I can capture in iMovie fine, but when I try to in FCP, I can control the camera with pause, play, and those controls, but the image doesn't show up in the capture window. I have tried to capture just by looking at my camera and at the right time pressing capture at the time I want it to, but then the program just crashes. The weirdest part is that it just started happening, the day before it started I captured a whole bunch of clips, but the next day it just stopped working. If anyone can please help, that would be awesome!

Download FCP Rescue run it and delete all FCP preferences. This will reset FCP but will also reset the scratch disk so beforehand move the Capture scratch, Render files etc folders to a safe location. Upon setting up FCP again replace the newly created folders in the scratch disk with the old ones. If your are using ftp you will need FCP Rescue 6, which you can download from here.

That string looks like a valid display filter; however, it isn't a valid
capture filter (parse error).
Note that display filters and capture filters don't have the same syntax,
so you can't use most display filter expressions as capture filters.

i think i solve the problem: to make vlan filtering to work on 6500, i've added:

Ouch, if it is indeed damaged, then sadly you need to restore the whole danged huge OS!
Didn't used to be this way before Lion/10.7.
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

Capture limit not working FCP 4.5 - Please help

I'm trying to import some analog footage (VHS) using a JVC SR-VS30 deck and the capture limit setting is not working, FCP just keeps capturing no matter what I set the time limit to. I have searched this forum as well as others and have yet to find an answer as to how to get it to work.
I have tried three different analog to DV devices (DSR-50, Elura 85 and the JVC deck).
Input is set to non-controllable device. (I'm using the VHS side of the JVC so no deck control or time code)
I have deleted the 3 preference files, no change
No anti Virus software is on this machine.
Created a new user to see if that had any effect, no change.
I notice some other users have had this issue has anyone solved it but not posted the resolution to the problem?

Looks like interlacing. It's normal on a television signal. If you're trying to get it rid of it when exporting you should try your question on the FCP forum because you have a lot of different options from Final Cut Express. Explain how you're exporting and where you're trying to get to with the export.

External Microphone problem not working.

I am trying to get a Sony ECM-DS70P Condenser Stereo Microphone with a 3.5mm stereo male plug to work on my MacBook Pro with a Behringer UCA222 USB Audio Interface and I am having no joy at all.
Summary of Problem
The Microphone will not work when plugged directly into the Line-in jack on the MacBook Pro because the Audio Line-In input on the MacBook is line level -10dB to+4dB and microphones are generally around -40dB. So, I need either a line level preamp or a usb audio interface.
I decided on a USB Audio Interface (Behringer UCA222).
The Microphone is plugged into a 3.5mm stereo to RCA L & R cable which is plugged into the L/R RCA inputs on the Behringer UCA222. The Behringer UCA222's USB Cable is plugged into a USB port on the MacBook Pro.
On the Macbook Pro in System Preferences > Sound > the output is set to Internal Speakers and the input is set to the USB Codec (Which showed up when the Behringer UCA222 was plugged in).
But it doesn't work!
Any help from anyone would be very much appreciated.

I haven't actually tried it myself but it has a good reputation and gets very good reviews.
I have used many (most) of the Blue microphone range, especially the blueberry and the woodpecker (fabulous mic) these are xlr balanced rather than USB but the build quailty and diaphragm/enclosure design is first rate. Not quite Neumann standard but, not at all Neumann prices. Good choice.

Capture Project not working

I'm having trouble re-capturing some deleted files. When I go to capture it, it prepares the camera (Canon ZR 600), goes through all the footage and even gives a dialogue box where I can select finish. But the red slashes never go away and I can't find it on my disk any where.
I'm using FCE 3.0 with an G5 iMac (pre-isight).
Another user told me to find the captured file b4 I click finish and duplicate the file b4 it gets deleted but there's nothing there to duplicate.
So, the question is, how can it seem like it's capturing but not really capture anything?
I'm not a newbie but I've never had to re-capture a file before so I'm at a loss.

Because I lost my footage on the disk. I have the project file, but I can't re-capture my HD footage. So can you please help?

You realize Apple doesn't have any interest in allow millions of users to Report a problem in such an easy way, right? So they will not bother to fix this issue. Report a problem is a feature not working in many ways most of the time. And that's for sure on purpose. At least I haven't see it working in the last couple of years.

Chrome comes with built-in Flash. That is the difference.
Try this.
1. System Preferences >Other/ Flash Player> Advanced > Delete All
2. Install Adobe Flash Player.

Quicktime plugin for screen capture does not work in flash player 11.2

I have created a quicktime plugin (it is .component file) for screen sharing purpose.
I have used quicktime framework for that. plugin is detected in flash player.
This plugin is working perfectly for flash player 11 and below.But,
It does not working in latest flash player 11.2.
I have seen following error on console -

The issue ended up being the change in resolution to my external monitor. Flash was unable to detect the proper coordinates of the color I was trying to select because I was running my monitor in HD mode rather than selecting an actual resolution from my monitor preferences. Changing the settings to an acutal resolution, instead of generic "HD mode" fixed the issue.

Reinstalling photoshop 5.0 problems not working

I Installed Windows 8 and had to reinstall Photoshop 5.0 (yeas it is old but I know how it works) I have tried for three hours with meny different ideas but it still dows not work. Help!

What exactly happens when you try?
Photoshop 5.0 (from 1998) or Photoshop CS5 or Photoshop Elements 5?
Screenshots, error messages and error codes would all help avoid guesswork.
My best guess is that your version and Windows 8 are not compatible and an upgrade may be required.

Style declaration in mobile app problems (not working)

In a simple mobile Flex app, I have a simple View that has a styleName assigned to a VGroup within it. The decleration is within the same view (for sake of trying to make this work, but it's in an external css if I figure out a way to make this work).
The padding's I'm assigning are just NOT working at all. Nothing. While if I specify in the VGroup directly it's paddingTop or another style, it works fine
Weird behavior.

I'm using Flex 4.6/AIR 3.6 at the moment, tried it with Flex 4.9.1/AIR 3.4 too, same behavior.
Is this a bug ? Am I doing something wrong ? Is there a hack/trick to make this work other than specifying the styles directly in the MXML ?

I guess that's why, and I find it's a bummer. I know I could hack this, but damn me!

Capture willl not work with FCP 5.1.1 installed on Mac Pro 2.66.

Hello, I have just installed my crossover copy of Final Cut Studio 5.1 in a new Mac Pro.
The only problem that I have encountered is with capture. After running for
several seconds capture stops and the spinning beach ball makes its entrance.
After several minutes of spinning the capture moves on for a few more
frames. Again the beach ball will spin for several more minutes. This continues until I click on
STOP at which point the spinning beach ball takes over the machine and will
not give me back control until I turn off my transport/deck. I have reinstalled
only FCP 5.1(not the other apps. from FCS) with no luck. I didn't uninstall the previous copy. No improvement.
All my settings are the same as recommended in Easy Set Up.
The tape and deck work fine on a similar machine with similar software.
I have also found a similar problem with the installed copy of iMovie.
This software was used on a G5 before moving it over to Mac Pro with out
problems. I am at a complete loss. I hope you can embarrass me with a
simple solution.

avidvid, thank you for you advice. I did check the system profiler and the device is
recognized, but to no avail. In fact it is getting worse. When I initiate log and
capture I can hear the transport working. It is moving all the time even though
the capture window is now only showing the color bars. The "beach ball" is now
constantly whirling and will only stop when the "deck" is turned of at the source.
I am worried that I have messed up the reinstall. I am really not sure how much
"stuff" I must remove from the system, or whether to reinstall the entire suite.

Using FW800 as 'scratch' disk for SD video capture does not work?

New iMac buyers beware - if you plan to capture video via FW400 (most SD camcorders do), you cannot capture directly to a FW800 disk. Workaround is to capture to your Mac HD first - there is no problem there.
When my FW800 external disk is mounted and I connect my camcorder via FW400, the FW800 drive keeps unmounting/remounting and is unusable. I noticed on Profiler that iMac groups the firewire devices in the same category (for FW800 and FW400) implying the bandwidth is shared and not independent.
I should have bought the Mac Pro.
Any suggestions?

Looby - yeah, I tried that - works for DV/DVCPRO NTSC (max write of 4MB/sec) but not for uncompressed 8-bit (max 21.52MB/sec) - I drop frames.
George - Yes, using FCP. Maybe, but even without FCP launched, and my OWC 2 drive external on FW800, when I turn on my camcorder on FW400, the drives unmount/remount continuously. Hmmmm... maybe it's the OWC? See below...
Noiseboy - Hmmm... interesting. Is your "lacie 250 triple" a single drive or multiple all in one chassis? My OWC is 2 drive RAID chassis configured as two independent drives - maybe that is the problem. I am going to try removing one drive.
Anyone else buy a FW800/400/USB2 RAID system in hopes to increase thruput? With the OWC I get a whopping 68MB/sec RAID-0 vs. 66MB/sec non-RAID. Bummer. Those advertising people should get what they deserve!
