Capture Scratch Error

After deleting everything but three items in the capture scratch folder, I am still getting a error message that the folder is too large and as a result I am unable to capture anything. For time constraints, I went ahead and deleted everything in the folder and now I am able to capture. My actions have costs me to lose some of the media in the final cut file and when looking in reconnet media for the location I can see where the capture scratch folder is indicated.
Is there a way to undo a delete command? Any other suggestions?

When you say you 'deleted' everything from the scratch folder, do you mean you moved it to trash and emptied the trash?
If you know the original file name, have you tried doing a Finder search?

  • Error code when trying to move capture scratch files

I tried moving the capture scratch files for 10 interview files I have created from my documents to my external hard drive. I was able to move the render files without any problem but each time I try to drag a capture file from my documents and place it in the capture folder on my external hard drive I get the following error " Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred. Error Code (0)."
The external drive still has 261 GB empty, so not sure what the problem is.

What would be the best way to approach this. Can I buy a firewire external hard drive and connect both it and the USB drive to my computer and move files from the USB drive to the firewire drive? And also move the capture files to the firewire drive?
Will my local apple store be a good place to buy the correct drive?
Thanks for working me through this.

  • Error message: insufficient disk space in the capture scratch

What does it mean, and how do I change it? I have two hard drives in the machine, one of them is almost full, and the other has 700 gb of space left.

It means that whatever drive you have set as the capture scratch drive now is too full to capture media to...and you need to switch to the other drive. You do this in the SYSTEM SETTINGS...

  • Lost half of capture scratch--help to recover?

    Hello all,
Last night I was finishing my video and then I went to export to Soundtrack to begin the audio. After about 40% it said "General Error" and stopped. I tried again and same thing. So I just went and moved around the timeline to see if there was something wrong and then the spinning beachball came up. After about a few seconds, I forced quit and reopened. Upon reopening it said I had something like 25 missing files. So, I looked in my capture scratch folder (on my external hard drive) and I was in fact missing about half of my project.
Is there anything I can do to recover from this? First, is there anything I can do without capturing again? Second, how should I go about capturing again so that the files in my project still work? I would like to thank anyone who can help.

I have lost about four files recently. They are not in my Capture Scratch but I have been able to re-capture two of them. The other two have even disappeared from the tape as well and I assume that, coincidentally, I must have recorded video over them, although it is odd that the whole of both of them have disappeared from the tape and not part as you would expect. I now have a plastic token which I clip on my camera whenever I have returned the tape to the end of the last recording so that I can record a new shot at short notice without worrying.

  • Insufficient disk space remaining in the capture scratch

I’m using a PowerBook G4, 1.25GHz processor with 2 GB DDR SDRAM whit Final Cut Express version 3.5.1. I tried to capture footage from my camera and received a message, “insufficient disk space remaining in the capture scratch.” I moved all the files: Audio render files, Autosave vault, Capture scratch, etc to a new folder on my desk top, but still get the same message when I try to capture. To capture, I click the play button on the screen; hit the mark in button at the point I want to start and the mark out button at the end. Then I click the clip button followed by the ok button on the log clip dialogue box. The program then goes through what I assume to be the capturing process leading to the error message. How do I overcome this? Thank you.

    Hi Geoffemn
The solution is to buy an external hard disk. Save the files to that. It does nothing to move the files from AV or scratch disk to a folder on the desk top. It still uses the same amount of space on the Power Book's HD. Of course you can look over current files on the HD and delete ones not needed. But that's a temporary fix. Large HD's have come way down in cost per GB. Go buy one. It should run at a speed of at least 7200 RPM and have firewire.

  • The current capture scratch drives are too full

I just downloaded this software on my Mac and I am captuing HD video from a Mini HDDV tape camera. I got a error message half way while captuing video
"the current capture scratch drives are too full. Please remove files from these drives or select a new capture scratch location."
How can I move forward with capturing video?

I just downloaded this software on my Mac
How so?  Final Cut Express has never been downloadable and was discontinued over 18 months ago.  Are you sure you didn't actually download Final Cut Pro X?
Also, it will help us to know exactly what model Mac you are using, what version of OS X, version of FCE and make/model camcorder you are using.

  • Final Cut Express Capture Scratch problem

I am unable to play my video clips as for some reason Final Cut Express is giving a message that a number of capture scratch files are missing. It does this for all clips (referring to different capture scratch files). This did not used to happen. I do not know why it now wants the files. I have looked at old backups and the files are not there (correctly I believe). I have reinstalled the software, copied the backed-up documents (that I know used to work) but still the same error.
Can anyone please help me sort this out (I need the files for Uni work on Monday!)
    Thanks.

I occasionally have a similar problem. Tom said:
"Is the media for the project available somewhere on your computer?"
I suggest that you find the exact name of the Project file that is trying to find the lost Captured file(s). Then search the Mac for all occurrences of that file name. The missing Captured file(s) should be in a folder with the same name as the Project. For example, if the Project file is called: "my project file", then search for: "my project file". If they exist, that will find them. (It is possible that the actual Captured File(s) in the folder "my project file" might be named "Untitled", but open it anyway (by double-clicking it) and see if it looks like the missing captured file.
To search on the Mac, click anywhere in the desktop, do File > Find. In the resulting dialogue box choose "Search in:" = "Local discs", then type the filename and press ENTER. (Choosing "Local discs" rather than "Home" is important because the Captured Scratch might have been set to be on an external disc.)
    Good luck.

  • Insufficent disk space remaining in capture scratch

    Hi all,
I am capturing for a small project off dvcam. I have run into a problem where I am unable to capture more material, I am getting an error message and the
prompt: insufficent disk space remaining in capture scratch .
what does this mean and how do I free up space? I have 100 gb left on my external drive, so I don't get it...
    Grateful for advice.
    LOF

Turn off any limiting of file size you may have checked on in the scratch disk settings, and also be sure it's that external drive that is selected as your scratch disk.
The external drive you have also must be formatted Mac OS Extended.

  • I deleted my capture scratch disk

yea so i just threw away my capture scratch disk how do i get them back im freaking out i cant capture any vidoe

The capture scratch folder will be automatically created if it doesn't exist, in the location specified for capture scratch under Final Cut Express -> System Settings. If there is no location specified, you should specify one.
If that doesn't solve the problem, it's probably an entirely different problem, in which any seeing any error messages you're getting would be helpful.
FYI: I'm an FCP user, so I'm only guessing at the menu configuration. If you can't find it, look around for scratch disk settings.

  • Download Helper, even with paid converter upgrade, gives "Invalid Capture File" errors and will not record audio, with "File Creation Error - Unable to rename/copy audio file" Error.

Download Helper Screen Capture worked to capture video if the default "no audio" option is active. But, no audio. The "speakers" or "microphone" audio options are confusing....the audio to be captured is from the video, so what do you choose? With either "speakers" or "microphone" selected, the captured file has poor audio and no video. Re-capture efforts (speakers) get "Invalid capture file error" and "File Creation error- Unable to rename/copy audio file"
The paid upgrade of "Converter" doesn't work.
Instructive documentation - not very good.
Suggestions - Need time delay between initiation of "Record" and starting the video to be recorded.
Could use timer tracking of the record process.
Are there operating system limitations? (Have Windows XP Pro)

That is an issue for the developer of that Download Helper.

  • Capture an error while creating a purchase requisition (BAPI_PR_CREATE)

    Hi All,
I am using FM BAPI_PR_CREATE to create purchase requesition, Now my problem is that i have various items for single material now i wan to capture the error if any item has ?
Please let me know how to do so?

    Hi,
To get the error messages after the BAPI_PR_CREATE is called,
loop at the return table which will contain the system messages and call the following FM

  • How to capture Exception error message in Odata ?

    Hi,
I am new to sap gateway. Currently i am creating a Odata Service through the transaction SEGW. In the query i have mapped a RFC. When i execute the service sometimes the RFC throws exception like 'No data Found'. But i dont know how to capture the exception returned from the RFC.
I read some threads which says use
    RAISE EXCEPTION TYPE /IWBEP/CX_MGW_BUSI_EXCEPTION
          EXPORTING
            textid            = /iwbep/cx_mgw_busi_exception=>business_error
            message       =  lv_text
            message_container = io_message_container.
My doubt is since i have not done any code in the DPC method. As said in many threads should i go to DPC_EXT method and redefine the method or how to capture the exception.
    Kindly advise. Thanks in advance

    Hello Velsankar,
You need not to capture the error messages explicitly by writing custom code in you DPC_EXT if you are using service builder when the return error message table is of type BAPIRET2.
GW itself will handle and return the error messages.
If at all the return error message table is of different type , i mean to say if it is not of type BAPIRET2 then you need to capture explicitly.
The below is the code you need to write in DPC_EXT to capture.
DATA: LO_MECO TYPE REF TO /IWBEP/IF_MESSAGE_CONTAINER.
DATA: LX_BUSI_EXC TYPE REF TO /IWBEP/CX_MGW_BUSI_EXCEPTION.
            LO_MECO = MO_CONTEXT->GET_MESSAGE_CONTAINER( ).
             LO_MECO->ADD_MESSAGES_FROM_BAPI( IT_BAPI_MESSAGES = LT_ERR_RET_TAB ).
             CREATE OBJECT LX_BUSI_EXC
               EXPORTING
                 MESSAGE_CONTAINER = LO_MECO.
             RAISE EXCEPTION LX_BUSI_EXC.
Note : where LT_ERR_RET_TAB is your internal table where you would have captured all the error messages.
That is it. You will be able to see the messages .
    Regards,
    Ashwin

  • Are the FC Events and capture scratch the same thing? Also, how big of an external drive do you need if you plan on making lots of 3-5 min movies?

Are the FCP Events Folder and the capture scratch the same thing? If not, what is the difference?
I've set the events folder and the projects folder to an external drive (400 GB) but it's filling up quickly. What are appropriate external drive sizes?

FCP X Events folders are the same as the old FCE/FCP Capture Scratch folders.
There is no "appropriate" size as everyone is different.
I have a friend who finds the 80GB drive on his 2004 iMac more than sufficient!
Other people can use hundreds of gigabytes a day.
So it all sepends on your particular usage and the only answer is get one as big as you can.
The reason FCP X fills up HDs so quickly is because it usually converts footage to ProRes 422 which uses about 50GB per hour of video.
Whenever you render the footage it is done in ProRes 422 so the drive space is incredibly rapidly eaten away.

  • Audio capture scratch for iTunes import/48kHz convert

Working in first FCE HD project. I want to import an additional music track from iTunes. Following the manual's instructions for converting iTunes files to 48 kHz for import, it says to "navigate to the project's audio media folder". In the external hard drive's doc folder it shows all the necessary folders there except Audio Capture Scratch ( which was default checked and unselectable in Settings prior to the initial video/audio capture of existing commercials, etc. from a deck).
Apparently setting up this Audio Capture Scratch as a destination that shows in the FCE docs window must be done after the initial set-up. (?) If so, I can't find how to do it. According to what I've been reading, though, the Audio Capture Scratch should already be among the 7 folders (Capture scratch, Render files, Audio render files, etc.) but it's the only one missing. Is this even related? Can audio be imported directly to the project as opposed to the ext. drive?
Question is... Should that in fact be the destination folder? Or do I need to create an "audio media folder" for this project? If so, how? I've not found anything in FCE Help or the Brenneis manual.
Thanks for any help on what must be a basic conceptual hole in my limited mental model.

You can import audio files into FCE from any location
on any HD. The audio file itself could be in your
iTunes music folder but if so, I suggest making a
duplicate copy of the song file in some other folder
(your choice, your location, your folder name) to
minimize the risk of accidently messing up something
    in your iTunes music folder.
You could even drag a copy of the file from the
Finder into the FCE Browser. Once it's in the FCE
Browser, you can drag the music file onto one of your
    audio tracks.
The ideal format is AIFF, 16-bit, stereo, 48Khz.
Truly thanks for that. But... In order to convert the iTunes file to the above, I have to go to the iTunes Pref. window and the folder location field, click the Change button and navigate to the "project's audio media folder"... But I don't have, can't find or don't know how to make that folder. So I can't specify the destination. I'd love to drag/drop, but the format won't be AIFF, 16 bit 48kHz.
When I read the manuals instruction for importing directly from a CD, it also says to drag the files into my "project's audio media folder", so I'm back to the same problem. I guess I could try dragging from the CD directly to my browser, and I will, but even if that works for now, I need to understand what/where/how to create the audio media folder, as I fear I'm missing a basic understanding here.
And why is there no Audio Capture Scratch folder showing in the FCE doc folder? Even if this unrelated and irrelevant, I'm still puzzled about that. I'd appreciate any clues here. Thanks again.

  • Capture scratch in different formats in the same project

I was asked to edit several hours of wedding video that have two different formats in capture scratch. All are Quick time movie. Can I combine the following formats in the same project and sequences, or what steps do I need to take before I start the project? Any suggestions on the proper Easy Set Up "format" and "use" selection? Thanks for the help.
    First format-
    DV 720x480 (853x480), 16 bit interger(Big Endian), mono 48kHZ
    FPS 29.95
    Data rate 30.29 Mbit/s
    Current size 853x480 pixels (actual)
    Second format-
DVCPro HD (720p60), 960x720(1248x702), 16 bit interger (Big Endian), mono 48 kHz
    FPS 23.98
    Data rate 49.11 Mbit
    Current size 1248x702 ixels (actual)
    Rob

DVCPRO HD is not supported in FCE. The HD media is of course much larger than the SD media, so you have to decide how to handle that. Also the frame rate conversion might not be great.
