Capture still image and video from s-video

Is it possible to capture image and video from capture card
(s-video)?

Hi,
No, AIR has no direct support for video capture. But it can
access the webcam.

Update: The iBook can play any 480p video and higher if I encode them with DivX and in AVI format. But of course this is not compatible with my iPhone 4. At least I can shrink my library now and get away from the full MPEG-2s. I don't get why I can't use Apple's h264 though. There has to be a setting I am missing. The sample Apple h264 videos from the days of Tiger worked flawlessly on my iBook when it was new so the CPU must be capable of decoding it. I really can't understand this.
Also, since I made my videos in English for my family, I had to create soft subtitles for my wife's Chinese family, and I can't get players like QT with perian or MPlayerX to sync them properly to an AVI encoded with DivX, they only sync well with the iPhone 4 m4v/mp4 formatted files I made. This is a real pickle.
So now I may need three or four copies of each video, LOL. I need to hardcode the subtitles if I want to use AVI to playback on older machines, and keep the mp4 file for the iDevices too, while keeping higher quality h264 videos for my American relatives...
If h264 is compatible with my iBook, what is the proper encoding settings? Must I dramatically lower the settings or frame rate? I can settle on 2 copies of each video that way. One iBook/G4/eMac compatible video that syncs correctly with my srt soft subs, and another version that works well with my iPhone 4 and iPad.
All in all, I will end up with more than 3 or 4 version of each video. On my late G5 dual core I have the full 720-1080p uncompressed master files. On my i5 iMac I have the h264 compressed versions for distribution, and lower versions for my iDevices. Now I need to keep either full MPEG-2 files for the iBook to play, or convert to older formats like DivX AVI for our family's legacy machines. I am running out of hard disk space quick now, LOL.
    Is there an easier way?

  • TS4436 hi, when zooming in to capture still images, the image is really blurred and out of focus. is this a hardware issue and is there any solution for this?? or is my device faulty?

If you are using the iPhone camera zoom then remember that this is a digital zoom not an optical zoom. The zoomed in area will have fewer pixels and not appear as clear. The more you zoom the worse it gets. It's like cropping a picture after it has been taken.

  • Capturing still images along with stream

Is it possible to capture still images along with a video stream?  We want to use the still images as "teasers" on the site to entice people to view the live video streams.  I don't see an obvious way to do it.  Maybe somebody's come up with a decent workaround?  We can't be the only site needing this feature...
    -Jason

Thanks, folks.  I was pretty sure the software couldn't do it; I had hoped somebody might have come up with a quick-and-dirty hack around it.  We're currently using Digital Rapids Stream to encode, and this is an option in the software.  We're transitioning to FMLE, and I need to preserve this capability.
I've filed a feature request, but I'm sure that even if Adobe likes it, we won't see that feature for 12 months.  So I'll have to come up with an interim solution.  I'm looking at a number of options: grabbing stills from the F4V using ffmpeg (works great until the F4V gets to be more than a few minutes long, at which point ffmpeg is prohibitively slow), or dedicating a capture device to just grabbing still frames (obviously, that's a bit expensive).
If anybody out there has already solved this problem, I'd love to hear about it!

  • Grainy Still Images and Titles

I've just completed about a 10 minute film utilizing still images and video clips. It was made with the Adobe Premiere Elements 3 that came with my Sanyo Xacti camera, running on Windows XP. The video looks great all the way up until the end. I have two still images that I use that I have overlayed titles on them. The first one is a rolling title from bottom to top (like movie credits) and the second one is a still image where the text just appears and then disappears. The problem is that the pictures are extremely grainy and pixilated. Other still images that I use in the movie do not look that way, and they were taken with the same settings as the pixilated ones. When I pause the movie the picture looks normal, but when I hit PLAY it goes back to being grainy. I can only assume that the word overlays have something to do with it.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there any way to make the background pictures sharper and crisper with the text overlaying it?
    Thank you.

Guys, thank you so much for the help so far. I really appreciate it.
Steve - The line above the stills is green. I have rendered the film and it looks fine in the view window except for the pictures in question.
Hunt - I exported the movie to a Windows media player file and played it on that. The results for those two pictures was the same.
I imported the images through the PE "Get Media From" tab. They were on a thumbdrive that I had imported the to from my camera.
They are both JPEG images. The first is 2816 pixels in width and 2112 pixels in height. With a vertical and horizontal resolution of 72 dpi and a bit depth of 24. The focal length was 6mm.
The second is 2112 pixels in width and 2816 in height. The rest of the info is the same.
The pictures look fine when it is paused, it is only when it is playing that they are grainy and unfocused.
Thanks for the help. I am continuing to work through the Help topics in search of an answer.
I'm making this as a gift for my girlfriend back in the states while I am deployed here in Iraq and I am trying to make it perfect. Thanks again for all of your help.

  • HOW DO I RENDER A STILL IMAGE AND KEEP QUALITY

I'm still in search of help with why High Res. still pictures lose quality when I render.   The images are at 300dpi, roughly 1900x1200 (they vary in size).   I input them fine.  Then, when I go to put them on the timeline - I get a pop-up window asking me to "AutoFix" this clip?  When I say "yes" it drops down the quality and it becomes grainy.  If I say "no" the clip remains looking the same - great.
But - then when I go to "render" that clip, in the timeline - it drops down in quality and becomes grainy - AFTER I render it.
HOW DO I USE STILL IMAGES - AND KEEP THEM HIGH QUALITY WHEN I RENDER?
My Project Settings are; 1920/1080  ---  30fps DROP frame  (should it be Non-Drop?)  --  Capture is HDV and Video Rendering is only marked at "Optimize Stills"
I'm using Adobe Premiere Elements 11 on a Windows 8 PC
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    thanks

OK. Let us give this a try. If I go off course anywhere along the line, please let me know.
    1. Open Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 8 64 bit to the Expert workspace.
    A. Under Edit Menu/Preferences/General
Remove the check mark next to "Show all do not show again messages."
Set the "Timeline render quality (valid for HD projects)" = "High quality, Slow speed"
Leave a check mark next to Default Scale to Frame Size.
    B. Right Click the Edit area monitor, select Magnification and make sure it is = "Fit".
    C. Right Click the Edit area monitor, select Playback Quality and make sure it is = "Highest".
    D. Setting the Project Preset Manually to Get the Sharpest End Product Photo Display
Go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings
In Change Settings, change the project preset to
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR [email protected]
    Close out of there.
In the new project dialog that appears, make sure that you have a check mark next to
"Force Select Project Setting on this Project". Close out of there.
    E. The project preset that has been selected has a 16:9 aspect ratio, and it will direct the program to set
up a 16:9 space in the Edit area monitor for editing. So, best results are expected with photos with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
If an imported photo does not fill the Edit area monitor space, you can try to scale it (zoom in) just to the point of
getting rid of any black borders. A quick scale can be done by clicking on the monitor screen, and dragging on a handle
of the photo's bounding box which has appeared.
But, now for the moment of truth..
    a. You should not have seen any helpful Fix messages.
    b. If you render the Timeline content by clicking on the render button above the Timeline
what you see should look the same or better before and after the render.
Also keep in mind, that having to scale up too much can create pixelation.
300ppi or dpi has no significance in video. Pixel dimensions are the focus. And here, video is 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio. In
this specific case 16:9. It would be a good idea to plan ahead on the sizing of the photos beforehand. As far as I know the perk of enhanced
sharpness in the end product is associated with just the one project preset that I pointed to in the workflow.
But, right now, our target is on the maintaining the quality of the photos in the Edit area. And, I realize that you realize
that no matter how great the resolution of the imports, the imports will be reduced to the sizing characteristic of the export
    preset.
We will be watching for your results. Thank you for considering the suggestions.

  • Why cant i import a video from toast video player to imovie?

im trying to do this video for my friends birthday, and i have a video from toast video player, which doesnt load in either iphoto or imovie, what can i do? its actually really important, i need a quick answer:) thankyou very much in advance<3

Assuming it is the standard DVD format of mpeg2: (if it isn't post back with further details)
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
(unless you are running Lion in which case see below))
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
    If you are running Lion:
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it.
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

  • How to transfer images and music from PC (Windows 7) to iPhone?

    Hello:
Could someone please inform me how can I transfer images and music from a PC (Windows 7) to my iPhone (3GS)?

    Hi, RichardParker,
I have also meet problems to transfer music from PC to iPhone, and I had solved it now. You can do the following steps,
    1. Copy music to your phone memory
    2. Exported contacts to SD Card (on Android phone) in VCard format
    3. Transfered VCard file from SD Card to PC
    4. Created a Google Account
    5. Opened the Google Account from a browser (on PC), go to Contacts, and then uploaded VCard contacts to the Google account
    6. Configured the iPhone (using a separate Windows user account - so as to allow for importing pictures & videos through iTunes)
    7. Created a "CardDAV" account on the iPhone and synchronised all Contacts
If you have any question ,you can ask me about iPhone Transfer. And I hope the steps above works.

sure, with the usual screencapture shortcuts -3, -4, -4-space etc.
but you have to use VLC as player, due to DVDplayer.app prohibits any captures.

  • How do I capture still images with iSight?

Is that possible. Do I need software to do this?
    Please help

    Hello, Judith,
iSight needs software to do ANYTHING.
Several apps that you can use to capture still images are listed in the Some Applications you can use with iSight FAQ, starting with iChat AV.
The iChat AV menu command for a video snapshot is shown right at the top. You just need to have the Video Preview (My iSight) window active to do it.

I have an Iphone 5.  I want to send my friends some of the videos on my Iphone using whatsapp.  The only problem I have is that whatsapp only allows me to send videos from tha Camera Roll.  And I have the videos saved in the videos app in my Iphone.
So if it is possible please tell me how to send videos from the videos app to the camera roll.
I have already tried a few apps but none of them allow me to send videos from the "videos" app to the camera roll.

    Nope.

  • FCPX: Still Images and Color Effects

What I am doing is not working so clearly I am doing it incorrectly . .  .
I have some still images and want to change the color to night-time "over time". I thought I could use keyframes to do it but when I do that, it changes the color of the entire image instantly. It is not a gradual change. Maybe I am setting the keyframe in the wrong place, I am not sure. Anyway here is how I am settin the keyframs and also the panel I am working in to do the color adjustment. It seems the keyframes are being set in the "Transform All" section and I want them in the color section but can't get them in there. Can someone please tell me how to do this correctly?

Tom, I have a question. I can split the clip -no problem; however, when I add the first color correction (going from day to night color), it is going to apply the color change instantly with no gradual fade to night. In the second clip, I can do another color correction going from night back to day but, again, it will be applied instantly. I think I might be misunderstanding your method. Can you explain, please.
Or are you saying that one clip would be day and one would be night, and the cross-dissolve would blend the two?

  • If I download a video from my video camera to a new (current 1/12) iMac 21 inch, how can I burn it to a DVD using the computer itself. Is this possible? Do I need to buy additional software. Two salespeople at the Apple were a little confused about this.

If I download a video from my video camera to a new (current 1/12) iMac 21 inch, how can I burn it to a DVD using the computer itself. Is this possible? Do I need to buy additional software. Two salespeople at the Apple were a little confused about this. Thank you.

The DVD recorder I'm referring to is one I've use for years. It is not attached to my aging iMac in any way. I simply play the video from my camcorder (mini-dv tape based Canon HV20)  into the DVD recorder and create a DVD that can be played in any DVD player. I can only do minimum editing so what goes in is what I get. This has been fine for creating dupes of the various things I shoot.
If I buy a new iMac (21 inch), I'd like to be able to download the video to the iMac through iMovie, work with it to whatever degree I wish, and burn it to a DVD that can also be played in any DVD player -- or to use as a master to dupe copies.
What I'm understanding from you and others is that this would be possible if Apple had included iDVD in the software that comes with the iMac, or if I purchase the iLife Family Pack, or buy the correct version of Toast. I'm hoping I can persuade Apple to sell me an iMac with iDVD installed.
Essentially I want to move from a basic process of creating DVD copies to the more sophisticated process of creating one from an iMac.
Thank you again for your help and wisdom.

You generally need Perian for FLV and AVI files, and the free version of Flip4Mac for WMA or WMV files. Some files simply can't be opened on the Mac.
