Capture streaming video?

I have a new Macbook and hoped there is a way to capture streaming video. There is a concert I want to burn to dvd that can only be played with Real player.

Maybe Real's upgraded version of Real Player will allow you to do just that. I'm not sure though, so check out their site.

If that doesn't work, then try this:

  • How do I capture streaming video on firefox for mac?

Is there a way to save or capture streaming video being watched on Firefox for Mac?

it's possible. i did it myself, after a few tryouts.
i still can't get the best result, but i got something.
first of all you have to save the streaming file(thru the save as qt movie, from CTRL-click). when you get a stream it gets cached on your computer. you might playback it even when offline. so if all that you need is a simple playback, that's ok. but it's a cache, sometime the system will erase it from your HD.
if you want to keep it as a qt file(or any other format) thats this is the deal. when you save the stream file, it saves a reference file(4kb) that reads the cache. you cannot recover them from the cache, not even by changing the termination, because the qt player won't recognize the .qtch files transformed into .mov.
open the file(reference you saved before), choose export from the file menu, and choose the setting that you want. i still don't get a good quality(i know it's incredible that a stream file has a better quality...) and i still have to export the video separated from the audio. but if you need only the moving image to edit a homevideo, and your only source is a stream, it's a start.
so if anyone feel like growing the knowledge tree, let's go ahead.

  • How do I Capture Streaming video with Quicktime Pro?

In Lamonts post about converting video for the iPod, it was pointed out that one can capture streaming video (Steve Jobs Keynote speech for instance), with Quicktime Pro. I have QT7.04 Pro, but don't know how to do this simple thing. Can someone please tell me?

  • Capturing streaming video

Anyone know how to capture streaming video (i.e. Steve Jobs' keynote presentations)?

Streaming media isn't cached (saved) on the viewing machine.
The only way I can think of is to use screen recording software (Snapz Pro) to record the file as it is viewed.
Read the copyright statement on the stream before you attempt this. Personal use, I suppose, would be OK. Rebroadcasting is a no-no.

  • Can QT Pro capture streaming video from webcams?

I'm trying to capture segments of video from the National Geographic's Wildcam Africa, in which they have a live feed of video from a waterhole in Africa 24/7. Can QT Pro do this? (All I can find is info on creating streaming video with QT.)

SnapZ Pro can create any format of QuickTime when you "finalize" the file. You only get one choice at this step so you must plan ahead.
If you capture at 640X480 and export to DV Stream you can edit that file with iMovie. Adjust your Display dimensions so your capture gets the biggest version of the on screen area. If the play window is small (most are 320X240) set your Display to 800X600 prior to capture and see if it helps.

  • How do I capture streaming video to a DVD on a mid-2010 17" Macbook Pro I have a mid 2010 17" Macbook Pro with a 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 processor and 8 Gb of memory?

I want to copy a streaming video that my company has provided me with a link to a website that streams video presentation to my computer (provided I have an internet connection).  However, for those occasions where I have no access to the internet, I would lioke to have the presentation on a disk.  Is there a simple way to get the video downloaded and copied to a disk using the equipment I have?

One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install the new OS, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything. By doing this, if you don’t like it you won’t have to go though the revert process.

  • What is best program to capture any streaming video ?

Hi, I would like to know what program is recommended to capture streaming video from a website, from a video chat and/or any other source?
    Thxs,

I have iShow U. I showU is ok for small low resolution videos and it works you CPU and Ram overtime because it captures and converts everything at the same time.
The best program out there that I have tried is 'SnapzPro', it works way better. It does one thing at a time so you get higher quality results , and higher quality resolution too.
SnapzPro is the best....., but it costs $ bling. You can use the trial version of snapz for free for a week. Make sure you have everything lined up and lots of time so you can make the most of the week.
And yes both of these record 'motion VIDEO' .

  • Streaming video capture

Anyone know of a Mac OS X software that will allow you to capture streaming video from a browser? Kind of like DownloadHelper in Firefox. Would be useful if you can't sit in front of your screen to watch the whole stream. You can just set it up so that the full stream downloads to your hard drive in an Mac compatible video format for viewing at a later time.
Note: *Not a screen capturing software*. ie. Snapz Pro.
    Thanks.

There is now a program called "Snapz Pro." It is a streaming video capture software for Mac. Works great!

  • What extenstion will allow me to capture streaming audio/videos?

I am trying to capture a streaming video of a program broadcast by Fox News which is not protected. I understand that in the past versions of Firefox some of the extensions or free applications would allow the video to be captured (per CNET). What is the application or extension I need to capture streaming videos using the FLV format or any of the other popular formats?

    Hi Pat,
What I want to do is download the on-line videos/live streaming video but the source of them doesn't make them available as download files.
As regards Flash Player Pro, apparently I was looking at something else entirely.  Sorry for the misleading statement.

  • Streaming Video Capturing

    Hello,
I would like to capture streaming video/audio (youtube, etc) as a quicktime, avi and so on. I heard about Snapz Pro X but that costs $70. I also heard that VLC could do it but I can't figure it out. How do I capture streaming video onto my computer for relatively cheap. The cheaper the better of course.
    Thanks in advance.

iShowU ranges from $20 for the Standard Definition version to $30 for a HD version and $60 for a Pro version.
    Regards

  • Record Streaming Video from Computer

I need to "capture" streaming video that plays on a computer.
I can't seperate out the file, just need to record as it plays. If
Captivate can't do it, does anyone know of another program that
    can?
    Thanks much!

I have had this problem with TechSmith's software as well.
Try turning off video hardware acceleration.
Also, make sure you don't move anything once you've begun.
Oddly, even screen recordings made with TechSmith's Morae recording .NET 3 applicaitons can lose the content and present a black screen.
    Here's the drill:
        Record a software interaction.
Edit and export video. (If you move the editing window, the recorded image seems to stay where it was, but becomes invisible. Sort of like sliding a cropping guide off a picture and onto a table.)
Launch video player and play recording
        Move video player.
Recording disappears until you put player back where it was.
I've had similar problems with Camtasia and SnagIt.

  • Capturing live streaming video?

I just bought Quicktime Pro for the sole purpose of recording streaming video to my hard drive. (Win XP) I watch a nest cam in a barn owl nest and want to be able to record the stream during the night so I can see what I've missed. (I'm not noctural the way the owls are.) However, I cannot find a way to do this. When I add the URL, QT tells me it isn't valid. When I click on the stream window to look for a way to copy it, nothing comes up. I am admitedly new to video streaming and hope I am making a simple mistake, but I sure would appreciate some help. Many thanks, Kate

QT Pro for Windows does not include video capture. It can capture audio but not video. Check this page under the words Upgrade Now:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/player/win.html
In contrast, a similar page for QT for Macintosh mentions capture of both video and audio:

Can't be done. You can't capture from that camera, only import, it can't be done live and it can't be streamed live in Flash format.
Even if I have a HDMI output port and a\v output?
If so what kind of equipment do I need to do the job properly?

  • How can I capture streaming online video?

    Hello,
I may be wrong, but I don't think OSX Lion comes with any app to capture online video (youtube, etc.)
    How can I do such?

If you don't mind a copy of a copy you can use Quciktime's video capture (but you need to go through some extra gyrations to also capture the audio that goes with the video).  Otherwise there are many flash downloaders available but the one I recommenced as the most general and full featured and also able to convert videos is Jaksta.
And I'm obligated to say that you shouldn't download from sites unless the site's terms of use permit it.
Here's a link to a macupdate.com search for flash downloaders.
Possible alternative screen capture utility could iShowU.  Others of this category are shown in the Similar Software section of the iShowU download page I linked to.
