Capture video card output

Hi,
I need to build a VI where i capture the output of my video card (my screen...)
I tried doin' it by taking PrintScreen's but I'm not satisfied that way...
Hope one of you guys can help me ;-)
Greetz,
Ganux_

I'm trying to achieve a conversion from the data from my video card to RGB-pixels.
Then i would sent these over UDP to a controller board my partner is designing.
A next step would be to scale the data for lower resolutions, but that's a next step..
for now it would be nice to get the data from my card, so i can continue with the conversion ;-)

  • How do I read the Vsync register on my PC video card output?

I am desiging an application in LabVIEW that presents jpgs on the monitor. The problem is I need the presentation to be synchronized to the video refresh rate (I require mS timing in the application) and I inveriably get a jitter depending on when the CRT starts to "draw" the video signal. I need to be able to poll the video registers to "see" when the VSYNC pulse is initiated.

  • Video capture driver for MSI GeForce 2 Pro video card

    Hi,
I am in need of the nVidia WDM video capture driver for my Geforce 2 Pro video card. Model #M-8831. I was able to download it from the MSI/TW website over a year ago just fine. My computer crashed from a game bug a couple of months ago and MSI/TW does not list the capture driver I need any longer. I did email the company asking for help with no response back yet (after 2 weeks). You people may be my last hope.
I do have the cd that came with the video card, but I've never been able to install the capture driver from it. There is a button to install it, but it never gets loaded. I've tried browsing the cd and also tried installing it using the windows wizards with zero results. My only successful install was from the MSI home website.
If you need more information, please let me know.
     Thank you,

  • How to fix audio  of a video captured from DV output of camcorder using Adobe Premiere Elements 8?

    Hello,
I purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 8 about one week ago.  I installed it and everything seem to work well in my first project.  I am new at editing videos but I was succesful in testing it by loading an existing video file in avi format from my computer and then doing some very basic editing (I splitted 2 scenes and added a title).
After my first succesful project (described above) I started a brand new project. Here, I want to capture a one hour video  from the dv output of a video camera. So I connected the camera to the PC and then started adobe elements 8.  Before starting the capture I only checked the boxes that said "capture video" and "capture audio" (the other 2 boxes that said download to timeline and autoanalyze were left unchecked).  After that I started the capture process.
After the video capture was completed, a small window opened at the bottom saying that a PEAK FILE was being generated.    After the peak file generation finished, I looked at the captured video.  The video looked perfect.  However the audio of the video was too fast. By this, I mean that the voices of the people in the movie were like they were speaking at more than twice the normal speed.  Or to explain it in a different way, they sounded like the  chipmunks.
So now I come to the question of this thread I started.  Is there a way that I can fix the audio part of the video I captured?  I will appreciate any help on this. Below I listed a few additional details in case this is needed.
    Thanks,
    ronel_8
PS.  Here are some more details about my system:
    1) Operating System: Windows XP
    2) I am capturing the video on an external drive with 40 GB of available space. The external drive is connected to a PC via a USB connection.
    3) Computer CPU: 2.4 GHZ
    4) Computer RAM: 1.25 GB
    5) Video tape is about one hour long.

    Hello Bill and Steve,
Your responses are very helpful.  Although I was not able to fix the problem yet I do seem to think from what you both say that my system may be too slow to capture the one hour video. In any case I will copy below more details about the system as you requested:
    1) Results from running Gspot:
The audio section of the Gspot window was blank. That is, no information was there.  The File and Container sections say:
    File Size: 12.6 GB
Note: 7.63 GB unneeded bytes at the end of the file
    DV Type1 AVI
    2) I did run the Gspot on another good avi file (captured to the PC with same camcorder) and says:
    Codec PCM Audio
    32kHz 1024 kb/s tot (2 chnls).
I suppose these are the audio settings from the camera.
    3) Yes, I am capturing video from a miniDV camcorder (JVC GR-D70U).
    4) I did not defragment the external drive prior to capturing the video with the audi problem.  So I will give that I try and see if it solves the problem.
    5) The external drive I am using is formatted to NTFS.
    6) The computer is a Dell Dimension 2400, CPU: 2.4 GHZ, RAM: 1.25 GB
    7) HDD Size=74GB and 11 GB of free space.  But I am downloading video to external drive that has 60 GB free space.
One last piece of information that may be useful.  If I open the AVI file (that I captured with Adobe Premiere Elements) with Windows Media Player, the audi sounds good.  However if I open it with Adobe it has the problem I mentioned in my previous e-mail.
    I'll aprreciate any further hints.
    Thanks again,
    ronel_8

  • Msi video card n240gt and n9800gt problems with output HDMI

    Hello to all
I have a problem I just bought a new Video card because I needed HDMI output. The previous card I have is a BFG Ge Force 8800GT 512 DDR2 running @ 1920x1080p 60Hz which works perfectly the only downside is it does not have HDMI out with 5.1. Now i installed the n240GT 512 DDR5 and tried watching BD ripped to the HDD and playing them back  all i get now it jerking lagging bad also and have horizontal red and green lines scattered across the screen.Which i did not have with my 8800GT card thinking  its  a bad card so i bought another card from another dealer this time its a MSI  N9800GT 1gig DDR3 and still the same problem.I Checked the resolution and its set to 1920x1080P refresh at 60Hz,i also changed the  Hz to 24Hz and it cleaned up the lines but not all and picture still  jerky picture. I have a MSI K9N NEO V3 Motherboard and all drivers updated current Bios. l used a DVI cable 40ft long with my Ge Force 8800GT and every thing worked fine, once I installed the new MSI Video cards N240gt and N9800GT I have the above problems and using a 50FT HDMI cable. I have a Samsung PN50A550 with 3 HDMI inputs 1 has my BluRay player hooked up with HDMI running at 1920x1080P at 60Hz and crystal clear picture no problems, input 2 has my HD Bell receiver running at same specs as input 1 no problems I tried the other HDMI inputs from the Samsung TV  from the HDMI out from the card same thing. It has to be the cards that can`t support the TV what else can it be if not the MSI cards. Please respond ASAP Thanks Thumpalong

You may want to borrow and test with another PSU.
We always recommend Corsair and Seasonic
I can't find anything on Topower other than that opinion piece of linked... getting frustrated. Most of the time I can find detailed info on most psu's not this time, so best to borrow and test.
Assuming of course that the older VGA's worked fine.

  • Video card for capturing HD

I had problems capturing HD footage using Canon GL camera and it had something to do with the HD device on my mac.
*Do I need a different video card to capture HD?*

    Hi(Bonjour)!
What is the exact model of your camcorder? a GL1 or GL2 ? Those models do not do HD.
See FCE HD 3.5 user's manual (help menu) from page 207 to see how to capture HDV from HDV camcorders.
FCE HD doesn't support capture cards, and the capturing process doesn't involve specific video card requirements.

I need a video card that will support 2 dvi monitors and be compatiable with a hpe h8-1234  desktop.  Please help

    Hi,
The current video card in your PC will support two DVI monitors. Just use a HDMI to DVI cable with one of the monitors. Your video connection possibilities are: one analog DVI monitor and one digital monitor or two DVI digital monitors.  For best results use two digital monitors.

  • Video card for HDMI output?

    Hey guys,
We've got an old PowerPC G5 in the office that we'd like to set up for viewing HD footage on an HDTV. I know that there are DVI to HDMI adapters out there, and that's ideally the route we'd like to go. Unfortunately, we also need dual monitor support on this machine. Are there any hardware options available on this older machine that will give us what we need? i.e., can a machine support two video cards?

  • Unable to capture video with MSI StarForce 822 GeForce 3!

I have a MSI StarForce 822 GeForce3 graphics card with 64 MB DDR SDRAM on it. I have VGA Out, as well as TV-out (AV), TV-out (S-video), and TV-in(?) (S-video).
This brings me to two questions:
First, I have NEVER been able to figure out how to use the TV-in (S-video) port. I have tried numerous programs designed to capture video, including the one that came with the graphics card, and none of them recognize the card's TV-in. Do you have any recommendations as to how to use this port to capture video?
Second, in reading through the online manual for the graphics card on the company's website (under the name G3 Pro-VT64D MS-8822), I saw that the card supposedly has the capability of "High-quality HDTV/DVD playback" (8822 v2.0.pdf, page 8 ). However, in playing back DVD's through the card's s-video output onto my HDTV-ready monitor, I definately do not see HD quality videos. Could explain why this is the case?
I have an assignment coming up where I must do some video-editing work, and thus I am posed with a situation where I need to capture video using this card (and I can't afford to buy something new for the moment).
    Thanks for your help.
    Charles Bergmeier

If you have the Video Capture Driver installed then the video capture program should see it. On MSI site version 1.16 of the driver is available for download.
If you still have problems (e.g. too many frames lost) you can try using Virtual VCR (worked best in my case).

  • Horizontal Lines while Capturing video in Premiere Elements 12

    Problem:
I have a Sony DCR-TRV80 where video is captured on Mini DV tape. It connects to my PC via FireWire. PC has i7 CPU, Win 7 64bit. 8gig ram, raid 0 hard disks, nvidia video card. Lots of hard disk space.
When I capture video, as it is captured, I get horizontal lines whenever there is motion (either a subject is moving OR the camera is moving). This is seen in the capture window of Premiere Elements 12
    The Project Settings:
I have tried several but the one that does not give me a warning is DV Standard 48khz & DV Widescreen 48khz. Both setting details show them as being interlaced (frame rate of 29.97 & size of 720h 480v).
Additionally, I have tried several other Project Settings and still get the same result.
    What I See:
When I am capturing the video, I see the horizontal lines. When I output the image, I still get the horizontal lines (all seen on my PC).
    My goal:
To capture my videos and have them at high quality so I can edit them to show on my TV to the family. I also would like to be able to see them on the PC without the annoying (and dizzying) horizontal lines.
Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

I looked at the manuals, etc. from Sony and could not find out much about the output of the camcorder. So best I can tell from your posts, the  Sony DCR-TRV80/ Mini DV tape is interlaced natively.
I then did an output to a DVD and played it on my TV/DVD and no interlacing (actually minimal) was apartment.
I was unable to output to YouTube since it would only do it if it also uploaded the video to YouTube which I did not want to do.
So I outputted to AVCHD which seemed to be progressive output. The horizontal lines were definitely much less but still noticeable especially if I make the player larger.
I am just struggling with what I thought as high quality camcorder and prosumer program that I can not see it nicely on the computer or at something a bit larger than a tiny thing.
What can I try to check into this? I am glad to do whatever it takes on my end to learn or correct what I am doing.

  • Premiere Elements capturing video in one piece instead of clips

I am saving all of my old SVHS tapes to the computer using an ADVC-55 capture card via fire wire and Premiere Elements 12
When the video has captured the entire tape and I go to view, I have noticed that It would save the captured video in clips and other times the full video with no clips.
I have clicked on the radio button to save the captured video as clips.
To be honest, I am not entirely sure what Premiere elements does when it captures the clip.
I know it saves the whole tape as and .avi file - the file size is about 9.5GB
it does seem a bit hit and miss and I am quite new to the program.
Can anyone explain where I am going wrong.
    many thanks

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on?
    What are your Capture settings?
    Generalizing....miniDV camcorder....
If you are doing DV data capture firewire into Premiere Elements 12 Windows Capture Window, you have the option to capture
    a. the whole as DV AVI standard or widescreen, depending on how recorded
    or
    b. Split Scenes...under Split Scenes, you have the option of by Timecode or by Content. Then you end up with DV AVI standard or DV AVI widescreen clips.
If you are doing HDV data capture firewire into Premiere Elements 12 Windows Capture Window, your options
    a. the whole as MPEG2.mpeg
    or
    b. Split Scenes...under Split Scenes, ONLY by Content, not by Timecode. Then you end up with MPEG2.mpeg clips as many MPEG2.mpeg clips as can be detected on a Content basis.
If I recall, VHS does not have Timecode, so the Split Scenes by Timecode would not be an option and you would be dealing with DV data capture firewire with the DV AVI standard output. What does your Capture Window set show for Split Clips, Content? If so, it might be that the program is not able to analyze and detect scenes in some while it can in others.
    More later.

  • Captured video not in sync with audio

I capture video and audio from a Sony Beta SX A-75 using the SDI output through Blackmajc card into dual 2.5. We are using DV compression. The audio is out of sync after capture. It is 3 frames off. If I slide the video 3 frames to the right on the timeline , then it looks ok.
    Capture/Input Blackmagic NTSC-DV
Device Control Blackmajic NTSC 29.97 Hz
    Anyone know what's going on?
    2.5 dual   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Either the sample rate of the audio is off, or, as I suspect, some decks/cameras have to be given an off-set in FCP. Don't remember off hand where that setting is. You may want to check with Blackmagic (Decklink) support about it.

I've seen the advice about changing bios sound device setting from auto to enabled, but there is no sound device choice in the bios of this model.

I installed this new geforce 210 video card (in addition to existing GeForce 6200) in order to support 3 monitors. I previously had a Geforce 5200 FX installed for this purpose, but it died. The new 210 has HDMI output. Some of the responses in this forum credit this as part of the problem.

    Hi,
Installing a new video card can disable the on-board sound chip so check the following.
Shut down the PC. Tap away at f10 as soon as you press the power button to access the Bios Menu - the option you want is most likely under the Advanced Tab.  Look for an entry titiled 'Onboard Audio'.  If it shows as Disabled, navigate to it using the arrow keys, hit enter, use the arrow keys to select 'Enabled' and hit enter again.  Press f10, select 'Yes' or 'Ok' and hit enter to save the change.

  • Suggestions for capturing video from HD source needed

I'm wanting to capture video from my PS3 (using component or HDMI) and I have no idea what device is good. I'm not looking to spend a large sum of money but it has to be a USB or Firewire external device as I don't have a Mac Pro tower to install PCI cards... yet.
I was looking at the Hauppauge HD PVR. Noticed it's not compatible with Mac's but saw if I purchase the elgato EyeTV software that it would work. I'm worried about compatibility and skeptical of trusting two products from two companies to work together without issue.
So I was hoping people on here would have some suggestions.
    Thanks!

Hope its not too late of a reply but the Hauppauge HD PVR is awesome! (that is, if you don't pick up a defective unit).
I currently use one myself for capturing xbox 360 gaming clips on my hackintosh and have just figured out what the best settings are for native editing in FCP. You can read my reply in this thread for details:
    http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=9485446
I've found 2 apps (one of which is EyeTV 3) that allow you to capture to a Mac via USB2 cable. There's EyeTV 3 and then there's HDPVR Capture which can be found here:
    http://www.steventoth.net/blog/products/hdpvr-capture/
I used HDPVR Capture first then got my hands on EyeTV 3 and I'll tell ya that EyeTV 3 has better export options. HDVPR-C outputs to M2TS or MP4. MP4 can be problematic when editing in FCP as I found out. But with EyeTV 3 you can export into a 100% native format for Final Cut Pro editing. HDPVR is cool though for a quick app to capture your clips. There's a free trial version that will only capture up to 2min. of footage.
Btw, if you go with EyeTV 3 make sure you perform a software update after you install it because it doesn't support the Hauppauge HD PVR right off the bat in version 3.0 ..you need version 3.1.1 which you get free when you check for updates.
    hope this helps!

  • New Member / Video Card Choice Question

New CS4 Production Premium User Here.
I am building a computer system specifically for Video Editing and production for use with Premier CS4 & Sony Vegas.. Have been doing my usual amount of Over Research here and other places but have a series of issues I am having a little trouble coming to grips with.
I have been into computer editing game for a long time but strictly in the Audio Recording /Mixing area /..
Video is a new interest which has me hooked / Im also a Gear Junkie so I have to watch it. 
I will probably be back with a couple more topics but to keep this thread simple /
My first post question is the topic of Video cards: Adobes Hardware compatibility list seems a little out dated. ?
The system does not have to be an ultimate gaming rig as I am not into that / just SD & HD Video editing & 3d effects.. I need a card which will do what is needed / works well with Premier CS4 / Is not too loud fan wise / can run 24/5 and not overheat.
    I also will need the ability to monitor on a HD TV with a good sound monitoring system / Midas / Bryston / Dynaudio etc;
I was considering either of the following / from lowest price to highest.
    ASUS GeForce 9600GT Silent 650MHZ 512MB 1.8GHZ DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDCP HDTV Out
    ASUS GeForce 9800GT Matrix 612MHZ 512MB 1.8GHZ DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDCP HDTV Out
    ASUS GeForce 9800GTX+ Dk 740MHZ 512MB 2.3GHZ DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDCP HDTV Out
    Questions:
    Is a 512mb card sufficient?
Will all of the above do what is needed for my purpose?
What about noise of heat issues.
My system could be running close to 24/5 at times.
Have not made a final decision on all components but will probably basically start of like this.
    Vista 64 Bit/OS
    Core I7 940
Asus Rampage 2 Extreme or a plain P6T
Antec 1200 Case / For now I will leave out the hard drives and other things on my list.
My builder suggests to stick with ASUS Video Cards because he has the fastest warranty replacement service on his end for ASUS products / plus I am a total ASUS Motherboard guy with years satisfied experiences.. (in Audio setups).
Any feedback or comments on the above will be appreciated.
    Thanks / Orion

    Thanks Members for the Feedback:
I am trying to stick just to the Video Card Issues so the topic does not get all over the map / Raid issues have already been researched & I might have a question about that later in another thread.
Witha the video card issue I am just trying to see if I can get a reply which the majority of users agree upon / not an easy task & that is were my confused state of topic started.
    b Keith
It seems what you have said about QUADRO cards is the most agreed upon overall from my last three months of research at various locations / The cost is extreme for these cards & I was just trying to determime if I realy needed to go that far : >$2,000.00 and up.
    just for the Graphics card..
Perhaps I should start of with one of the cards I first mentioned which are dirt cheep compared to the Quadro series and replace it when I have arrived at the point where my shills are beyond my hardware limitations.
    b Charles & Jim.
Thanks for the reference to the . >ASUS GeForce 9800GTX+ Dk 740MHZ 512MB 2.3GHZ DDR3< I was thinking this might be the best to start with / except for the reported could be problems of / Noise / card size and Heat issues if running 24/5?
Other issues you have stated also seem to be agreed upon from mny sources as well / which is why I am considering perhaps not going Raid "o" from the start / perhaps Raid 5.. / or No Raid until I see If realy need it for my own personal use level.
b conclusion to this point in the game:
Looks like If I do a top notch system following all the higher end recomendations it will cost me over $10,000.00 (if I include a capture card / raid card (Areca 1220 or 1240(don't want to get into that topic just yet)& all the extras... This is about double the investment I had planned as this is basically a serious hobby not a business venture. Plus we have not included another $6,000.00 for a half decent peosumer HD camera with a few extras. I was trying to keep the entire setup to 8 to 10 grand total.. Not including the software / so this looks like wishfull thinking at best / Ho Ho.
b remember / unfortunately my pricing reflects Canadian $$ which includes a 25% hike in pricing because our government wants the loonie (Good Name) low valued so businesses can export our products at built in 25% Sale Pricing.
Perhaps,we wont get into that topic/please, but I just couldn't resist / when I start thinking about government issues (anywhere in this world) I tend to go off the deep end as part of why I am going into this video thing is to document the destruction of our environment & the entire democratic process, which is a total farce in my neck of the woods. Nuff Said..
Again Thanks for the input and I will keep watching and perhaps cover another topic later / my goal is to place an order for a build within the next 10 days of so.
