Capturing 24pA off tape and P2 cards: different compressors

We are running a test to find if we can mix our DVCPRO HD 24pA footage that was shot both on P2 and on DVCPRO HD tape into the same timeline successfully.
When we log and transfer the P2 media, its compressor is DVCPRO HD 1080p30. But when we capture the footage off the tape, its compressor is DVCPRO HD 1080i60, despite our Easy Setup being set to have the compressor be DVCPRO HD 1080p30. All other properties are the same, compressor is the only difference (both are 23.98fps, 1280x1080 frame size). Anyone know why the compressors are coming in different? Can I force the tape media to capture with the 1080p30 compressor instead of 1080i60?

Been looking into this more and it appears FCP defaults to compressor 1080i60 once our deck is hooked up (AJ HD 1400). Otherwise our Easy Setup of DVCPRO HD 108024pA defaults to compressor 1080p30. That must be why P2 comes in with one compressor and tape-digitized media comes in as the other.
Now my question is: how to make the deck allow capture using the 1080p30 codec or if it's not possible, is mixing 1080i60 and 1080p30 compressors on same timeline no big deal? (All other properties are the same: frame rate, dominance, size. The compressor is the only difference).

Just loaded CS6 and my 1st project is to convert some VHS tapes into HD DVD's. The VHS player I'm using has R/G/B Component video out & HDMI in/out. My PC video card is a Radeon 6750 with 1 x HDMI (in use for my monitor), 1 x DVI-I, and 1 x D-SUB. My mobo, a Gigabyte GA-MA78GN-US2H, has 1x D-SUB, 1 x DVI-D, & 1 x HDMI. I don't believe I can use both HDMI slots simultaneously. I'm not even sure I can use any of the onboard graphica ports while I'm using an external video card.
So my questions are; 1) which available graphic port on the video card will offer me the best VHS tape capture? 2) what are the capture settings (i.e. frame rate & resolution of most VHS tapes either home recorded or professionally recorded) that I should use?

Usually, video ports on a video card or motherboard are out only. You would need a capture card, or external box to get VHS video digitized into your computer.
For VHS tapes, I would recommend getting a Hauppauge HD-PVR available here: http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr.html
It would save you a lot of headaches and make your job much easier.
If you'd like specifics: the HD-PVR has component inputs with optical audio, along with S-video and composite connections.
I've used it to capture many VHS tapes, and never had a problem.

Capturing 24pa Problem

Hey everyone,
I recently setup a batch capture for some 24pa footage. My presets were set as:
Capture - DV NTSC 48kHz Advanced (2:3:3:2) Removal
Device - DV NTSC Basic 23.98
For some reason, all of the clips that captured into my browser have a vidrate of 29.97 and I need to do a manual pulldown removal from the tools menu. I've searched this problem and found a few others who've experienced this but no answer as to why.
I've never seen FCP ignore the capture settings. Any thoughts?

capturing from and what the device control is;

I sure can elaborate! The device is a DVX100a (I've told the company they need to invest in a VTR deck to save the camera playheads). The device control is firewire.

Well, the problem is this all part of that OTHER situation I had with the kid who captured the footage wrong. The settings in the camera haven't changed, and I've changed the capture and device settings in FCP for the capture. Closed Log and Capture and then reopened to sort of "refresh" it. Batch captured, all at 29.97. I removed the pulldown manually and then saved closed FCP to reboot (again, trying to refresh it). I reopened FCP, went to log and capture, logged another tape and then set the batch capture, still 29.97 in the broswer. Most convert with the pulldown, other have a "break in cadence" and I need to use Cinema Tools to reverse them.

If two of you shared the same contacts you were logged in with the same Apple ID. In order to avoid this you need to use different Apple IDs, and be using separate Macs or separate user accounts on the same Mac.
One or other of you should create a new Apple ID at http://appleid.apple.com for which you will need a non-Apple email address which hasn't been associated with another Apple ID.

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear. Prior to loading 1OS7 it was easy to force quit applications that were still open by double clicking and seeing an a red "x" you had to click on.

Canon 6D display language resets to chinese after auto off and indicates card full

Just assembled my new 6D with 24-105 mm and display comes in urecognizable language, after changing into english it reminds me that unused new memory card is full, so I reformat and seems ok... BUT when starting after auto off again the same unrecognizable language and full card !
I have taken battery out and put in again, reset to default, changed card, and keeps doing the same.
Any suggestions ?

It could be the GPS in your camera IF you have been secretly kidnapped in your sleep, and placed somewhere in China, inside a cleverly detailed re-creation of your normal surroundings. The persons responsible thought of everything BUT the GPS in your camera sensing your true location and resetting the default menu language to Mandarin.
Investigate this, but very, very carefully.

Oh phooey. I had the same problem, so I decided to delete and reinstall. Only to discover that Google's YouTube app no longer supports anything below iOS 6. This is a problem since I'm running an original iPad.
Yes, I realize that my version of iOS still has the old YouTube app. But it's not the same. For one thing there are a lot of ad-supported videos that will only play in the new app.

There will indeed be taxes, assuming you are in an area where sales tax is normally charged.
