Capturing 720/24 with Gy-Hd100 Probelms...?

I can't get FCP 5.1.2 to recognize my JVC Gy_hd100! I can only capture 720/24p when the capture preset is on "HDV - Apple Intermediate Codec" and NOT on "HDV"! When I do capture something it is 29.97 frames... Why is this any one know?
I changed my device control to HDV 23.98 frames and it still wont work.... Can someone help with the proper settings? Or could it just be that capturing directly from Gy-hd is not a good option???

Since the latest update which included native 24p HDV support for the GY-HD100U (thank God, finally), I have just used the Easy setup for "HDV - 720p24" and it works just perfectly. For this easy setup, the Capture preset is "HDV", and the Device control preset is "HDV FireWire NDF". I know that the frame rate that is shown here is 29.97, but it doesn't seem to matter.

  • Using Image Capture to scan with Canon Pixma MX700

I previously had trouble connecting my Canon Pixma MX700 to my MBP, but soon figured out that I needed a new high speed USB 2.0 cable, versus the old one I was trying to use it with. Doh!
So now it prints without any trouble at all, and I know that all its features - printing, scanning, fax, copier, are supposed to be compatible with Leopard.
However, I'm still having issues scanning. I Googled and found a comment somewhere that with this specific model, one has to use Image Capture for the scanning portion, instead of the Canon software.
Great, so that explained the problem I was having trying to figure out how to GET it to communicate at all with the MBP (downloaded the latest scanner driver from Canon with no result).
But it still will not scan with Image Capture. Communication is fine- the image is detected and I can see it perfectly in the Image Capture window, am able to change options, etc. Once I drag and select the image I want to scan and click the scan button, nothing happens. Or more specifically, the button will be click-able and for about two seconds it appears to be working (with the scan button substituted by a cancel button), but then the scan button will pop back up and nothing appears in the folder I specified the image to be saved to.
Now I'm completely stumped. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!!!

With my MacBook running Leopard, I had been able to successfully scan multiple images by pressing the MX7000 scan button and capturing the images with MP Navigator. The MX700 is networked over WiFi. Early on, I learned that it seemed to be more reliable to drive this process using the scan button, rather than trying to initiate the scan from the MP Navigator UI.
However, recently things stopped working, and after the first image was scanned, subsequent scans would fail, with MP Navigator complaining about not being able to connect to the scanner. This sounds similar to the problem described in the original posting.
I went to the Canon USA support site and downloaded /installed the latest versions of the MX700 scan driver (13.9.0) and MP Navigator (1.0.4), both available under the "Drivers and Downloads" section for the MX700 support page (be sure to select "Mac OS X" from the pull-down menu).
    http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDeta ilTabAct&fcategoryid=238&modelid=15651#DownloadDetailAct
The new updates seem to have solved the problem, and I can now scan multiple images one after the other. Again, I always initiate the scan from the button on the MX700, and always capture using MP Navigator, which has the really nice feature for creating and editing multi-page PDFs.

  • Rich capture your life with Lumia Denim

If you are an owner of the Lumia 830*, Lumia 930, Lumia 1520 or Lumia Icon, the Lumia Denim update brings you an updated Lumia Camera with fast start-up and capture speeds and the latest imaging innovations that help you capture the best shot. Every time.
We’ve already showed you what you can do with Moment Capture – one of the new features that come with Lumia Camera, allowing you to shoot high-definition video and high-quality images quickly and easily.
But there is also Rich Capture, giving you auto HDR (High Dynamic Range), Dynamic Flash and Dynamic Exposure to really simplify the picture taking process. With Rich Capture, you can shoot first, and edit and select the best shot later.
Let’s do a quick walk through on how Rich Capture works in practice.
    Set the scene
Set the flash to auto mode (recommended) and enable the Rich Capture feature by selecting the magic wand within the Lumia Camera app. And then let the camera do the rest!
With Rich Capture switched on, the camera adapts to the scene and captures and merges multiple images simultaneously with auto HDR and dynamic flash and exposure settings. This means that the camera will select the best settings for you so that you’ll get the best possible picture. And the great thing is you can adjust the settings after you’ve taken the image.
To do that, select the image you’ve taken with Rich Capture from the Camera Roll and activate the editing options by touching anywhere in the image and selecting “Edit Rich Capture”. Depending on the scene and the settings applied by the camera, you’ll either get Dynamic Flash, Dynamic Exposure or HDR editing options.
    Dynamic Flash
The Dynamic Flash feature captures images automatically with and without flash, allowing you to decide how to remember the scene by choosing the amount of flash used in the shot, after it has been taken.
    HDR
In situations where you are shooting a high-contrast scene with a lot of light and dark areas, the auto HDR kicks in. The HDR captures all the details, and allows you to create a more dramatic effect by blending multiple images with different exposure levels.
    Dynamic Exposure
If you find yourself in low-light scenes and you have the flash off, the Dynamic Exposure automatically captures a short and long exposure image, allowing you to dynamically blend the two exposures afterwards.
*Lumia 830 can rich capture too
If you have a Lumia 830 and want to make the most of the latest Lumia Camera features, you need to get an additional over-the-air update of the Lumia Denim software, which came pre-installed on your phone. The new Lumia Camera application with Rich capture will be automatically installed with the over-the-air update.
We’re actively rolling out the Lumia Denim update and you can check the availability for your country and operator here.

  • Can I capture a picture with my ipad, and save it as a PNG and/or SVG file to a specific folder?

Can I capture a picture with my ipad, and save it as a PNG and/or SVG file to a specific folder?

Kind of, sort of. (You can't save as SVG, but you can export as PNG.) PS Touch projects themselves are self-contained UNTIL they are exported, and even then they'll get exported to a specific location. (e.g., To the Camera Roll or Gallery/Photos, to Creatve Cloud, etc.)
The procedure would be to start a new project using the "add image" icon (looks like a landscape with a plus sign, in the lower right in the project selection user interface) > Camera. Take your picture, then PS Touch will bring you to the editing user interface. Edit your image as appropriate.
Go back out to the project selection user interface by tapping the back arrow in the upper left to save. You can then export the project using the export icon (5th icon from the upper right).

I have a Sony HVR-V1P, can i successfully capture and edit with Final Cut Pro X

My HVR-A1U was able to capture just fine.  The only issue I had is that it has mroe frequently than FCP 7 ever did find Timecode breaks and split my clip apart.  I never had breaks before, so while it is possible I had them on this latest tape, I think X is just more picky.  I mean heck, it found three in a one minute timeframe.  My A1U worked with X without me needing to adjsut any settings form how I had it setup for 7.

upgraded to quick time 7 pro
    got stuck here:
" 4. In the window that appears, select your iOS device as the Camera and Microphone input source".
the window appeared, no selection is possible

The instructions in the Developer page you link contemplates that you are using the QTX version instead of QT7 Pro:
    vs.
QT7 Pro does not allow selection of iOS devices as the Camera and Microphone
 input source.
QTX is the QT version included with Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard and later.  However, as explained in the Developer page you linked above, if your Mac is not already using it, you need to upgrade to the current (OS X 10.10 Yosemite) OS X Version to use iOS devices as the recording sources in QTX.

Can I capture USB traffic with NI-Spy? if so how?
    Thanks
    TeBlues

    Hi TeBlues,
NI-Spy captures return a log of low-level driver calls being made to National Instruments drivers.  It does not track the serial data passed along the USB bus.  To capture the serial traffic on the USB bus, I would recommend Portmon (if you are using a Windows OS).  This program monitors all serial and parallel port activity on a system.

  • Losing footage with JVC- HD100 upon capture

    Okay,
Having a nightmare of a problem. We shot a feature on the JVC HD100 at 720p at 30fps which is the way that FCP and JVC say it should work. We are able to capture most footage well, BUT the footage keeps getting cut up into new clips MID-SHOT! Not only that, but each time it is clipped, it loses 4 seconds of footage. This happens sometimes in the same places, sometimes in random places, and sometimes not at all. Out of 40 tapes we successfully captured 2 tapes without this problem (one of which gave us a world of trouble the first time we captured it, and then didn't have any problems the second time). We also tried using these same tapes on a deck and the problem continued. We shot on 2 different types of stock, from 3 different stores, are editing on a spanking new G5 Quad Core computer with the latest FCP 5 version we can find. We also tested it on 2 other computers-- one G5 Quad at an Apple store, and a G4 laptop and the problem persisted. The timecode does not appear to skip, and if you play the footage back on a monitor it looks great and has no problems. We've switched every possible cable, made sure we didn't bump the equipment during capturing, switched power sources, switched Firewire cables and ports, prayed over it, cast demons out, etc etc etc. Apple and JVC are stumped. Any solutions? Anybody having the same problem? Any recommendations what to do if this is a camera issue?

    glowingnose
Same here, last year When we upgrade to FCP studio, it happen to all footages which from JVC camera: 500, 5000 & 5100, even we use sony dsr-11/40 work as a feeding VTR, our tapes is just like yours no visual artifect nor broken TC. but it just stop or losen data or footage, before that I mean in fcp2&3 the capture is perfect both batch mode or live mode....
I knew there were many technical difficult along this migration, but come on how long do we have to wait... it has been a year?
glowingnose, don't get me wrong if you are up for deadline, I'll suggest go find other NLE solution...

  • Unable to capture HDV footage with FCP 5.1

I've captured HD footage onto my old computer (10.4.11) without any problem but now I'm trying on my new one and it doesn't want to know.
First off there was a problem with the Firewire port ejecting my hard drives randomly so I took it to be repaired and they replaced the logic board and the port works fine.
I've looked at all the posts I could find, I've trashed my preferences, reinstalled Final Cut Studio ( after uninstalling then updating the software). I've made sure the camera is set to HDV playback rather than auto and that the iLink HDV/DV conversion is off. I've tried all the easy setups and all the custom ones I could think of but still FCP (5.1.4) won't allow me to capture. On some settings I have had device control but no image, on others it said the camera isn't connected. The only way I've captured footage is by using the HDV Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i50 which works fine.
The camera is a Sony HDR-HC7 connected directly to the iMac with a Firewire 800 / iLink cable or daisy chained through my external hard drive with a 400 / iLink cable (neither of which makes any difference) I can also capture SD footage from both the HDV and a Panasonic SD camera when in DV-PAL setup. The HDV camera also shows up as connected in the system profiler.
This is driving me nuts so any help would be appreciated and if there's any other info I can help with to make this clearer let me know.

I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who was having the same problem as you. Although you say the camera playback is set properly, please recheck this. go into your camera's playback menu>menu>standard set>VCR HDV/DV. Unplug your firewire from the camera. Make sure camera is set to HDV NOT auto. replace firewire cable. Now open FCP. Go in Audio/video settings>A/V devices (farthest tab on right). In box for playback edit to tape different from video output (make sure it's checked) mirrored (checked) Video playback 1080i50, Audio HDV. I hope that works now.

  • HELP NEEDED CAPTURE DV FOOTAGE WITH HDV VIDEO CAMERA

I'm trying to capture DV video footage I've done years ago with my Sony DCR-HC40E PAl into FCP version 6. with my new camera HDV video Sony HDR-HC7 1080.i/mini dv so I can capture it into FCP but it's jerky, An yone know the setting for both the HDv camera and FCP to get the footage perfect as the rginal video.
    Cheers

From the FCP menu bar: Final Cut Pro > Easy Setup > DV-PAL > OK. (Use DV PAL Anamorphic if you shot wide screen).
Menu bar once more: Sequence > Settings > Set Sequence Preset > OK.
That camera should detect the DV format tape and playback with the correct settings automatically.
All you ned to do is connect it via FireWire and capture.
For everything else, here's the manual for that camera: http://www.docs.sony.com/release/HDRHC5.pdf

  • Capturing HDV 1080i50 with Sony HVR-Z1U

Long winded question... hope someone can offer some insight.
The answer to this may have been posted earlier, but sifting through the topics, I couldn't find any relating. If someone could be so kind to link me to any related topics, that would be helpful.
I'm editing a project in Final Cut Pro 5.0.4 that is a mix of HDV and DV, but will be finishing the final product in HDV. I've edited the original project in regular DV, but am batch capturing in the HDV footage according my XML.
But I can't seem to connect the camera.
Easy Setup: HDV - 1080i50 gives me an error "Unable to locate the following external devices: HDV (1440 x 1080) 2 fps)"
Going into Audio/Visual Settings and setting Capture settings to HDV and Device control preset to HDV Firewire gives me an error "Unable to initialize capture device and device control" (or for any device control preset with the HDV Capture setting for that matter)
Any device control preset with "HDV - Apple intermediate codec" will give me an error with "Unable to initialize HDV deck. Please make sure a deck is connected and try again".
Camera: In/Out VCR mode is set to Auto, i.Link Converter is set to "Off", A/V->DV Out is set to on.
Camera is on and plugged in. I've tried plugging the firewire into different ports and have also tried various firewire cables. Sometimes the device is controllable, but all it does is play the tape, never gets around to capturing anything.
    .... sigh....
    Thanks in advance,

AIC is not going to work for recapture, AIC doesn't use the original timecode off the master tape. Make sure you setup HDV 50i and before connecting the firewire cables go into the camera vtr mode then menu, then rec in out and set the ilink convert to off for HDV. the Camera will show HDV lights. Then connect to the computer and open log and capture.

  • Capturing HDV footage with incorrect timecode

Rookie mistake. I started shooting a new project on my brand new canon xh-a1s, and in the excitement I forgot to stripe my first few tapes. And it being a film project I've been constantly using the playback to look at the takes I just did. So what's happened is I don't have a nice clean 0;00;00 to 1;04;00 timecode on all the tapes, rather there are frequent spots on the tapes when it's started a new timecode at 0;00;00. So when I capture my footage into premiere pro cs3, it gets confused and either drastically unsyncs the audio or repeats the same 4 seconds of sound through the whole clip.
Oddly enough when you play the captured footage outside of premiere, in windows media player say, it looks and sounds fine. But premiere chokes on it everytime I import it or capture it.
Right now I've managed to capture successfuly going clip at a time with the capture now function, and staring at the timecode waiting to hit stop just when it gets to a new timecode. Sometimes I hit stop on time and it captures cleanly, sometimes I don't and it doesn't sync or skips the audio. But obviously trying to go through 8 hours of footage this way is an arguous, unreliable, and incredibly time consuming process. Logging clips doesn't work either because it never seems to stop the capture on time to save the clip.
Does anyone have any suggestions as how I can get the audio into premiere properly without doing what I'm doing now?

...or, always look at the timecode display in the viewfinder or the LCD before you press REC.  The nice display will ALWAYS indicate when you've reset the timecode. If the display is 00:00:00.00 or similar and you are NOT the very beginning of the tape, pressing record will start a new time code sequence everytime.
If you have END SEARCH, use it.  this will usually work as long as you haven't removed the tape.  Either way, rewinding the tape until a non-zero timecode appears and then pressing REC works.  The camera will increment the timecode from that value..
I'm not at my editting station, but I seem to remember that PPPro has a capture setting that will cause it to ignore timecode breaks--you then edit out the rough section at each break when editing.  Unless you're going to do something clever like recapturing HDV after capturing SD, you're not going to use the timecode anyway.
Then in the future, always look at the timecode display before you press REC.  There is really no reason to stripe if you always remember this.

  • HP AiO on iOS7 document capture not working with iPad2?

Has anyone else found that the Document Capture does not work with the latest version of HP AiO Remote on iOS7? The app grumbles about "The document capture feature is only available if the camera on your iPad is over 5 megapixels" - any solutions to this problem as we have about 95 iPads out in the business that need to use this function regularly

    Hi VijayJois,
I understand that you are getting an error message when trying to use the capture feature in HP's AiO Remote app.
The capture feature in the most recent version of the app will give the error message that you are seeing.  A work around to this is to take a photo instead of using capture.  The photo is now available in the AiO app in your camera roll to send to the printer, or send via email.
