Capturing a pic from a thumbnal?

Just wondering if it's possible to capture an image from a thumbnail in iMovie, then import that image into iPhoto?

Pb G4 1.67Ghz running OS 10.4, right side of the screen 2, pixel wide vertical lines, a few days later colors posterized on pics and vid. Vertical lines don't show screen capture, but pics still posterized. Hardware test from disk shows ok.

Right side of screen started showing 2, pixel wide vertical lines. A few day later colors in pics and vid posterized. Vertical lines don't show in screen capture but pics still bad. Ran hardware test from disk, ok, adjusted color in sys prefs, new profiles a bit better but still bad, mpeg worse, jpeg bad. No better in new user account. Now a month later, right side has 8 vert lines and occasionally a slightly darker area in bottom corners for a few seconds. Reset pram, battery plugged into adaptor 99%. I can notice, for a slit second, when the screen saver is on, when I move cursor to get back to desktop, true color of image can be seen for a flash of a second.

How to get pics from iphone to iphoto library on hard drive

Hi there. I saved my photo library to an EHD. I pointed iphoto to open the library from EHD. Normally when I connect my iphone to my macbook pro, iphoto just pops up asking to import the pics from my phone. But now it doesn't do that and it doesn't show my phone on the left pane of i photo. How do I get my pics and videos from my iphone into the iphoto library i saved on my ehd? Thanks!

Make sure your external hard drive is Mac formated and has a reasonable amount of space available.
--- Side note: If you haven't already, you should tell TimeMachine to backup that external hard drive as Time Machine only backs up your internal hard drive by default.
Try:
1. Install all software updates for both your computer and your iPhone and turn both on and off and re-plug the cable between them.
2. Try importing your pictures and movies using Image Capture found in Macintosh HD > Applications.
-- If Image Capture sees your iPhone when iPhoto does not, try creating a new iPhoto library on your internal drive to see if that library can see your iPhone. This is done by launching iPhoto while holding down the option key.

How to send pics from phone to laptop

Ive got the iphone 4s and am trying to send pics from the phone to the laptop but all itunes seems to want to do is to send pics and music from the laptop to the phone. This was so much easier with my HTC so it shouldnt be this hard with an iphone surely.

When you connect you Iphone to your computer, if you are using Windows, Camera and Picture Wizard (or just use My Computer and copy and paste the pictuers) you can use to import photos. If using you MAC you can use Image Capture and import the photos That is what I do for backup up all my photos and videos.

It can sync photos wirelessly to a MAC or Windows, but also supports Supports direct upload via Wi-Fi and 3G/LTE to your favorite web services - Dropbox, Google+/Picasa, Facebook, SmugMug, Flickr, Box, Zenfolio, (S)FTP, WebDAV & iDisk. Moving photos/downloaded pics from camera roll to another photo folder on I

Is this possible. I created a new photo folder that appears on my Iphone called "Other Pictures". Now say I download a wallpaper or some other pic from the internet or save a pic from an email, it automatically goes to my camera roll folder. How can I move them to my "Other Pictures' folder on my Iphone. Can this be done on the Iphone itself somehow?
Or can this only be done via a mac, if so how do I locate the camera roll pics on my mac.

No. Photos saved through Safari, MMS or email can only be saved to the camera roll.

Use image capture or iPhoto to import the pics to your computer. Then create an album, add the photos to that album, then select that album under the photos tab in iTunes to sync to your phone.

First place to check is in the iPhoto library. If the images were imported there then they will be visible in the previews created.
The physical location of image files in iPhoto is quite buried in folders within folders. So, if you want to copy them then select all of the ones needed from the previews and copy from iPhoto to a new location, preferably a new folder in the Pictures folder.
The other app that might have transferred the files is Image Capture. It would download files from cards or cameras. Launch this app and look in the preferences to see the default location of transferred files.

Please Help! Pics from Honeymoon--How to Download to Computer

Hi all,
I would really appreciate if someone could tell me how to download pics from my Ipod to my computer.
I purchased the photo connector and downloaded straight from my digital camera to my ipod. Now I'm home and need to download onto my computer and I'm unable to do it. These are my honeymoon pictures so it is very important that I am able to download or burn them onto a CD so i can print out hard copies.

Importing just a few pics from the camera, not all

Hey guys,
I'm brand new to iPhoto and i want to just bring in a few pics from my camera but right now I can only bring in all of them (200 pics). Does iPhoto really not do this?

There are two ways.
1 - use Image Capture, located in the Applications folder. You can preview the thumbnails and upload selected photos to the desktop from where you can import into iPhoto.
2 - once you get the camera mounted in iPhoto hit the Return key twice. The Edit window will come up with the thumbnails in the photo bin at the top. However the thumbnails will be blank but you can see the photo in the main edit window where you can drag it onto the Library icon or an album icon to import. You can only import one at a time and see one at a time. It works but is very slow. #1 would be my choice and it would be quick and you'd be much less susceptible to auto-shutdown by the camera due to a low battery which can have bad results.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

Moving pics from file manager to albums?

Hi guys
Im getting so fustrated with this. This seems simple but i dont know why I cannot do this
I have pics from my computer which it lets me copy to my phone, but it wont let me copy it from my phones memory to an album? I try and just drag and drop the picture to an album in my phone but it wont let me
Can anyone help or tell me whats going wrong here

You don't say what phone you are using, but I'm guessing it's a recent S60 smartphone.
You can't drag/drop into albums because the albums are not folders on the memory, they are databases. The only way to add them to albums is to get them to the phone, then go through "Photos" or "Gallery"*, select the photos by going Options>Mark/unmark>Mark multiple**, then select Options>add to album and select the album.
You cannot normally add files into the Download or Captured albums, they are usually reserved for the phone to use for images downloaded from the internet or from messages, and captured with the camera.
*The name is sometimes different depending on model
**if your phone doesn't have the mark multiple option, you'll have to select files by going Options>Mark/unmark>Mark

IPhoto won't import my pics from my iPhone.

When I try to import my pics from my iPhone into iPhoto, iPhoto scrolls through a few of them and then reports that there was an error downloading an image and quits trying to import the pics all together. It also stops showing the the iPhone is plugged into the computer when this message comes up. Anyone have an idea of what's going on?

Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
Home > Library > Caches (I remove the whole folder. It will be re-generated upon restart.)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There will may be more than one. Remove them all.)
If the issue persists try importing a different set of images to ensure iPhoto is functioning correctly.
Try going to File > Import to Library > Macintosh HD > Library > Desktop Pictures. If these images import then we know there is something wrong with the images on your iPhone or the iPhone itself.
Try importing the pictures using Image Capture found in Macintosh HD > Applications. If Image Capture can import the pictures you can then try importing them to iPhoto again.
Once you have the pictures off the Phone, try taking a few pictures and import again. If the issue persists with new pictures follow this article to restore the phone: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

Removing pics from Projects

Hi,
I just bought Aperture and have watched the tutorials on Lynda and Apple. I have a question that is probably very simple but the solution is alluding me.
For example: Say I started a project and called it, Friends. I put everything in it because I just bought a new camera and was playing around learning Aperture and the new cam. When the project started to get large I created more Projects and Albums within them. I know I can remove pics from the albums but how do I do it from the Project folder? When I try it removes them permanently. So now in my Friends Project I have 133 pics of everything I took but only two albums counting about 50 pics total.

I am sorry but I do not really understand your specific question.
Visualize it this way:
Image files live in Projects. An Album is a virtual grouping of "pointers" to images that live in various Projects. There are no actual image files in an Album, just pointers.
You can move images from one Project to another Project; also you can copy an image from one Project to another Project. You can make all kinds of Albums for all kinds of reasons at very low overhead; Albums are a powerful concept.

You can import pictures from your iOS device using iPhoto (if installed):
Connect the device to your computer. iPhoto should automatically launch into its import window with your device's images and videos listed.
Note: If iPhoto does not automatically open, you may wish to enable the behavior.
Click Import All. If you want only some of your images imported, select the images and videos you would like to import into iPhoto, then click the Import Selected button.
When the photos finish importing, you will be presented with a dialog asking whether you'd like to delete the original photos from your Camera Roll. Click Delete Photos.

Is there a way to capture an image from a movie clip using iMovie 06?
I would like to save some frames from the vedio footage as photos.

Hi iMac User:
Yes-you can save a single frame from iMovie by selecting the File-->Save Frame As option. From there it will ask you where and in what format you want to save it.
Just be aware that the quality won't be perfect because it is taken from a video clip.
