Capturing Data Problems

I'm TRYING to capture DVCpro 50 (24p) from a SD93p deck (not SD930) into FCP 5 on my G5. The computer sees the deck, and I can run it through the FCP capture window, but every time I actually try to capture any clips, it errors out saying that the computer "encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape". I have tried more than one tape, and had the same results, so it's not the tapes. Also, it appears that the timecodes don't match up between the tape and FCP either. I believe it's a streaming problem but can't figure out how to fix this. HELP!

Nicole,
welcome to the forum.
One of the things new users may not understand is that you should keep all your posts relating to a single issue together in one thread. Adding new threads about the same problem only dilutes the response and confuses the issue.
I'd suggest if you have new information or have tried new things, post it to your original thread: http://discussions.info.apple.com/webx?128@@.68bc076f

  • Problems with Capture Date when converting from PSE9

I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem I'm having when converting my PSE9 catalog to LR3.4. Specifically, about 20% of my images (abouit 2,500 out of 12,000) didn't import with capture dates. I can clearly see the correct capture dates in PSE9 Organizer, but when I view the same imported images in LR3.4, there is no date. This occurs with dates that I've modified in PSE9 as well as dates straight out of the camera.
This is a major problem for me because I'm used to organizing my photos in PSE9 using capture dates. On a related note, PSE9 allows you to set the capture date to a known year and unknown month, day, and time, but when imported into LR3, these dates are converted to Jan 01 of the known year. Sorry, but Jan 01 is not the same as unknown. Is there a way to correctly display unknown portions of a capture date in LR3 similar to the way it's displayed in PSE9?
Sorry if this has been discussed before.

How did you convert your catalog?  Did you use File > Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog, or did you use File > Import Photos?  You should use the former; the latter has many problems, among which PSE doesn't always correctly write medata (e.g. capture dates) into files. If you used File > Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog, post an image here and we can take a look at its metadata to troubleshoot.
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

Even though Adobe's XMP metadata standard allows for unknown month, day, or time, most programs including LR don't support it -- PSE is the only program I know of that does (and it has problems).  I use the conveniton of 1/1 12:00:00 to represent unknown values.

  • Unable to capture data from Serial port using LVRT2010 in single core pentium 4 machine

When I am running Labview RT environment using dual core

  • How to save captured data to a log file to prevent lag?

    Here is my VI.
I read in an string of this format (the channels number are now 32 only but will like to increase up to more than 10000 later)
    Time\sStamp\tChannel:00\tChannel:01\tChannel:02\tChannel:03\tChannel:04\tChannel:05\tChannel:06\tChannel:07\tChannel:10\tChannel:11\tChannel:12\tChannel:13\tChannel:14\tChannel:15\tChannel:16\tChannel:17\tChannel:20\tChannel:21\tChannel:22\tChannel:23\tChannel:24\tChannel:25\tChannel:26\tChannel:27\tChannel:30\tChannel:31\tChannel:32\tChannel:33\tChannel:34\tChannel:35\tChannel:36\tChannel:37\tIP\sAddress\t\n
The problem I am now having is that, the data is through UDP sending in, the program start off normal capturing all data, but when data are captured and saved to the .log file after an hour or more, some of the data will start to be missed.
I guess this is beause the .log file is becoming larger, and in the rate of 10Hz (now), the file open and close can't chase up? so some data are missed?
Anyone could advice or amend the VI so that I could have a better way to save the captured data? making a buffer? or what so ever? Hope someone could help =]
    Thanks.

    Hi milkbottlec,
Regarding the headings in the middle of your file, I imagine the filename changed temporarily.  When the name changed BACK to an exisiting name, the headings were added (anticipating a new file.)  I'm more curious about the "lost" data problem.  Do you still see holes in the data?  If so, were any bad filenames recorded?
Sure! Why not present a file-dialog instead of automatically generating filenames,  Looks like you've mastered the "True/False" case, why not build on what you know?  Experiment with the File Dialog express VI on the FILE\Advanced File Functions palette.  Personally, I'm a fan of auto-generated filenames, though, not necessarily built from the data.
    Cheers!

  • Video clips are not sorted by capture date

I am running a 30 days trial on LR5 as I want to "ascend" from Photoshop Elements / Organizer to PS CC / LR. I noticed immediately that movie clips from my (Sony) digital still cameras don't sort by their capture date/time, but instead put at the bottom of the catalog. This is a no-go for me - I have been used to Organizer doing it the right way for a decade, so the big pro should also be able to get it. The problem is the same in a converted Organizer catalog, and I am not sure I want to pay for a product that fails on such a significant matter.
I have seem some related discussions about meta-data for video, but not found a solution. Adobe / others, what is the plan or best workaround?
    Kind regards,
    Henrik Hermansen

LR's support for video metadata is "incomplete" (i.e. buggy), and since Adobe hasn't addressed the problem for over 3 years, it seems unlikely they'll fix it any time soon: Lightroom: LR4 Beta: Metadata applied to videos in Lightroom isn't available in other applications.   I use my Any File plugin to manage video files in LR -- it properly handles video metadata (but it's a little clumsy to use due to limitations of the LR plugin SDK).  The Video-Asset Management plugin works similarly but provides a few more features specific to video.

  • Incremental load not capturing data in SSIS 2012

    Hi ,
Iam having an issue with Oracle CDC for SSIS which is new in 2012, Developed SSIS packages with Full load and Incremental load logic to load data into ODS - STAGE - DWH. Here problem is when ever i do a full load following with an incremental load , incremental
load is not capturing updated data , if i do second incremental load then it captures data.
Is there any solution for this to get data in first incremental load.

Are you sure it picks up LSN correctly? I doubt its CDC service not picking the correct LSN value which it uses to identify the changes.
It should be in cdc.lsn_time_mapping table I guess

  • Capturing data from a RS232 device

how do I capture data from an RS232 device to my APEX application. Precisely, I am using a barcode scanner and I need to know how to get the barcode data into an item (say P12_barcode) in my application. I have tried the keyboard wedge and the problem is that I have to set the input focus each time I need to collect the barcode of an item, so I have to switch to RS232 mode but how do I get this barcode data now?
    Please HELP...

Thanks a trillion for this reply! wether your reply was helpful is an understatement in this matter!
That is the type of Barcode scanner I am using man... they call it USB Keyboard emulation. It scans into note pad, word processors and text items freely.
In my design for a solution to this problem, I have on paper, your type of solution but I lack the ability to set the focus on the desired Text Field when my cash_sales page loads.
Secondly you said "I did have to set it to include a "Enter" after each scan" that touched upon another bug in me: I had always wanted the form to submit after each scan so that my procedure can use it against the items database and display the item in my Current Transaction Report. How did you set it to include a "Enter" after each scan? Is it on the scanner or at the page item level?
Precisely I am using Metrologic MS9520 barcode scanner a.k.a Honeywell MS9520 barcode scanner!
If I can set a cursor in my Px_Barcode text item after loading my CASH_SALES page and automatically submit the page after a scan(without clicking any button) then my nightmare is over...and you become my Virgo 2009 Hero.
    Happy September :)

  • Capture Date Editing

    Hi!
Though I read the other messages about dates in LR, I didn't find any valuable answer for my problem:
Editing Capture Date with the shift process works fine. When I want to edit to a specific date, that is another story:
I have a lot of Tiff files, that come from negativ scans.
If I select only one picture in the library grid, every thing goes right.
If I select more than one picture (ctrl A, or using "shift click" or "control click"), I have very surprising results.
Sometimes all the Capture Dates are updated in the right way. Fine.
BUT sometimes, only few of them (one, two ore more at the beginig of the selection) are set to the right specific capture date, the other files getting various dates and times, in a quite unexpected maner. The dates could be set in any year (sometimes 2008..), sometimes only the day is shifted with one step, teh time may be set to any value (nothing goes with DLT shift).
I tried to check for any relation between files that are updated in the good way or not, but I didn't found anything that could make sense.
Of course, I can edit all my files one by one, but I'd like to find soething else. Because I read in a message that the "Edit Capture Date" of LR is a mess, I tried some extra softs working on EXIF and IPTC informations, but it seems that they can only change things for JPEG, not for TIFF files.
I use a PC, win XP SP2, pentium P4, 1 Gig ram, and a lot of free space in my hard drives. I use LR 1.2, but I don't remember if I got thoose probs with LR1.1.
Thanks for any help or information.
    Jerome

That could be really a good answer..
I perhaps misunderstood the "edit capture time" functionality. I thought that if I specify the date and the time, thoose values should replace what was recorded before (and not shift them with the same amount of time). That could make sense especialy for the files that have only one date field before editing: there is nothing to "shift", only a field to fill....
Anyway, I will try to check If the files had the same date/time values before editing or not, and I'll try to look exactly at the values before and after. And I'll go back (tomorrow, I think) for, I hope, the end of the story.
Thanks a lot for your help.
    Jerome.

  • IPhoto 08 can now edit EXIF Capture Date

iPhoto 08 is now able to change the EXIF Capture Date on the original files thru the Photo->Adjust Date and Time menu option. It also changes the Created and Modified date to the same selected date on the original file.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

I tried it on an alias library and the "source" files on the external HD did have their Capture Date changed. How did you get the files from the original (alias based) library into the other?

  • Smart Collection "Capture Date is in the last n hours" not working?

In Smart Collection, the rule "Capture Date is in the last n hours" doesn't work for me. It seems to behave similarly to "Capture Date is today".  (See the screenshot below).  Has anyone else noticed this, or can you replicate this?  If so, I'll file a bug report.

Key into the address bar ''about:crashes'' you should get a list of Crash IDs paste a couple of those into your next Message. Also ensure any security related software is fully updated that often causes problems when upgrades to Firefox are released.

  • Capture Data - where to download?

I would like to diagnose some recent problems I have on my Mac. Where can I get Capture Data from?
I hope to help Apple diagnose the problems (they suggested to do an Archive and Install, but I don't want to go that far)
Is it similar to Sysinternal's Process Monitor?

Nah, not Console. I'm talking about the app "Capture Data" Apple support gives out to help diagnose problems.

  • Lightroom does not Recognize Capture Date

I have a lot of slides that I am scanning into Digital images.
The Nikon CoolScan does not include a capture date in the .jpg file so I add one using the ExifPilot program.
All other programs that I have tried correctly recognize this EXIF data, including Adobe Photoshop Elements. But the Lightroom does NOT recognize it and the file gets put into the library under "Unknown Date" Attempts to change the date with the Metadata/Edit Capture Time command do not work.
Any Ideas on what could fix the problem?

Yes, this is a problem, not only with files from scanner. I started a threat
called "Date/Time, Exif and Lightroom" on March 6 about that - have a look
    there. Alas, no solution.

  • Flushing the captured data uppon system failure

I'm creating a JMF application and saving the captured data to a datasink. During the recording the file output keeps increasing with the data being stuffed in it. However when some faillure occurs, like an energy power problem the file still plays but it's speed is slow and without audio, like if not all the data has been flushed yet. I need to know how to flush the data so that uppon the power faillure the file is complete until that point. Where do I start ?

    Hi EJP, thanks for replying
Indeed may be impossible to recover everything but maybe some mecanism to make save points at regular times, to in case of a power failure, recover at least until that point. Isn't there possible to do seamlessly to the user? Thank you !Isn't it possible to refuel my car without my noticing?
No, because you have to shut down the engine and park the car while you put gas in.
It takes some time to finalize a file when you're doing writing it. It takes some time to get the stream ready to record again after you've stopped it. You can automate the process so the user doesn't have to do anything, but I think you'd have to play around with a bunch of stuff before you could even approach doing it without losing data.
