Capturing Form Data

I am very new to Macromedia Coldfusion, I have a user
registration form and would like to capture / store & for
debugging purposes echo (print) the form data using a CFscript. The
form’s name is Registration one of the text fields name is
FirstName. I am having a problem referencing the value entered into
the field. My reference is as follows …….
Registration.FirstName but it isn’t recognized what is the
correct way to reference form data. Does anyone have a colfusion
script to capture, store and print form data and a query to store
it in MySql

Problems capturing form data

I'm new to PHP and I'm having a few problems. I've put
together a script to process an HTML form and I need it to capture
the names of all 'checked' checkboxes within my form and exclude
all unchecked data. I know i must be doing something stoopid but i
can't work it out. I just get a list of all items with their value
next to them if checked. Any help would be really appreciated.

How to capture the data from a JSP form

I have a JSP form, My task is to capture the data from a JSP and submit to Data Base. for example I have the field like
Enter Table name to be created in data base: The table name is to be captured by a servlet and by that table name, table should be created in the data base.

Get the entered value from the jsp into servlet using request.getParameter("enteredTableName"). it will return the String,pass this table name to execute query using JDBC connection and statement objects.

Sharepoint 2007 - Creating a form to capture timesheets data, but need to track updates to previously submitted data

Hi,
We are using a basic version of Sharepoint 2007 and do not have access to InfoPath. I have created a list to allow team members to submit their weekly time on specific activities. How do I go about tracking any changes to previously submitted data?
For instance, a team member enters 5 hours for Activity 1 and submits on April 1. on April 10 they realize they submitted too few hours and want to go in to edit the 5 hours to 12 hours.
From a reporting perspective we already pulled a report (export to excel) and have the 5 hours listed for April 1. If the user goes in to edit their time sheet from April 1, we don't want the data to just override the 5 hours, we want some sort of flag to
show the hours went from 5 to 12 hours. How do we do this?
As a work around, I added a question at the beginning of the survey/list asking is this a new submission or an edit. I thought if they select edit and were taken to a screen that allowed them to select the date (April 1), the activity and the new hours that
I would have all of the previous data plus these 3 columns with the additional data: "Edit", "Activity 1", "12". Instead the original data was over written and all I show are blanks for the previous questions and the edited
info ("Edit", "Activity 1", "12").
What suggestions do you have so that I can maintain the integrity of the original data and flag for my Project Manager which data needs to be changed in previous reports.

I think the best way to answer your question would be to create a simple form and try various submissions. Be aware that unless the e-mail system is controlled, e-mail submission is not recommended due to client configuration issues of e-mail. Your question sounds like online submission would already be something you are comfortable with. In that case you can submit form data in 3 different ways: HTML, FDF, or XML. It can also be submitted as a PDF by saving the form, but that does not sound like what you need and also gets into issues of whether folks are using Reader or Acrobat.
Also be careful (or try both) about using forms from within Acrobat and the forms created by the link in Acrobat to Designer. Once you go to Designer with the form you can not come back for editing in Acrobat. Normally you would create the basic form in a word processor or layout tool and then add the form fields in Acrobat (or Designer if that is preferred).
I will let others address the anonymous and yet confirmation check issue.

Calling DOO standard web service in ADF custom order Capture form

I am trying to call the standard DOO web service in my ADF form and I am using web service data control to call that service. But when I am dragging and drooping the method in my page with the parameters needed for that particular method and try to run the page. Its giving a null pointer exception. The main parameter for that method is _payload which wants an EBM to be passed to it.
DOO is a distributed Order Orchestration which is part of SCM fusion module. In fusion we can capture the order from different places from a legacy system from an EBS or any other application and then that captured order is passed to
DOO of fusion by calling a standard web service. But we don't have a order capture form built in ADF from where we can enter order and then pass this info to the DOO web service.
EBM is Enterprise business message,it is an xml format file which is passed to the DOO of fusion.It accept only EBM format xml in which capture order data is dere with EBM header and the data area which contains the order information.
The name of the method in web service which is called in j developer is SalesOrderOrchestrationService_pt_SubmitTransformAssignLaunch(__payload). payload is the parameter which accepts the EBM file.

Can I get a help on this and my question is in j developer when I make a web service data control and drag and drop that method in to my pages submit button with text box taking this EBM or xml as entry and when I submit this its giving a null pointer exception. How can I overcome this.

Hi,
for complex services like this the recommendation is to use a JAX-WS proxy client, put a POJO in front (wrapper) to access information and methods to expose in the application and create a POJO DC from the wrapper. This not only is more powerful and allows you to intercept data calls, it also gives you a netter option for debugging and error handling in case something fails.

Form data - to command - for verification - exec

I'm attempting to assign entered form data into an array, to generate a list
of command line commands from the form data, and pass the array to a
verification page for display. After the displayed and verified information has
been approved , press a submit button to spawn xterms that get passed the
information in the array, the command list, for execution. I'm having a
problems capturing and relaying the data between pages. Currently, the
information(the command list being generated in variable ${myMap}) is
being displayed correctly in the VerificationPage.jsp output but not displayed
correctly (nothing from the ${myMap} variable is displayed)when
ProcessingPage.jsp is loaded. I would appreciate any help offered. Below is
the code I'm using.

Exporting pdf form data to a web server via Submit Button

Hi
I am working on a project where a pdf form is dynamically filled by user information. So, when the user click Print Application on the web, it will create a pdf with form data and download to the user computer.
After that, users will have to add more data (since not all user data is captured). Then, after that I'll want user to hit the Submit button so that the filled pdf form is exported as an xml file to a folder on the web server.
I've been looking at the forum. There is a solution where I add a submit button on the form and add a submit form action with the link to localhost since I'm trying to test it out on my local server. But I keep getting the security certificate exception. I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0.0. , Max OS x and Firefox. My question is that is there a way for user to just click submit button and the pdf is exported as xml to the server? Does it require additional scripting language?

It is not using triggers. The source is the transaction log.

Extract FORM data into BINARY format or XSTRING format?

Hello,
Our config: I am developing an VISITOR Adobe Interactive Form, i have Designer 8.1 and Reader 9.0 in my Windows 7 Laptop. When i checked the menu EDIT-->form properties --> Compatability, its Adobe XML form File (XDP)
When i opened this VISITOR interactive form in a browser, right clicking and checked form PROPERTIES, then i saw the "PDF Version: 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x)"
I am using JavaScript
1st user opened the form, entered data, say entered USA in COUNTRY field.
2nd user opened the same form and edited the COUNTRY field from USA to UK.
Pls. let me know is there any way for me to capture the user entered data into a BINARY format or XSTRING or RAW FORMAT or RAW STRIGN
Pls. note i need latest changes, like COUNTRY field hold the value of UK.
Pls. note for some reason, SAVE the form should not come into picture in my case (form will be saved in some workflow (pls. note not adobe's workflow, we hv SAP workflow) staging area in the time lapse of between 1st user and 2nd user,)

Capture Form error CDD-23572 when capturing BOTH design and app logic

Hi,
I have a problem when I run the "Capture Form Design" tool in Designer. When I select the capture mode "Capture BOTH module design and application logic", the designer crashes and displays the following error:
"CDD-23572: The connection to Oracle has been lost. Unsaved changes will be lost."
The only thing my form contain is a component created by the "Data Block Wizard" that gets data from a simple table, and layout created by the "Layout Wizard" that is connected to the data block.
The form I try to capture is created in Oracle Form Builder release 10.1.2.0.2.
Oracle Designer version: 10.1.2.0.2.
PS: When i run the capture in the capture mode "Capture ONLY module design", it works perfectly fine.
Does anyone out there have a workaround/ hint to what I'm doing wrong? :)

It seemed like the problem lied in the database version i was running, 10.1. When I installed 10.2 instead, Designer didn't crash.

Form Data and Automation

I have a few questions about collecting data and automating a process with a form. I've created a sample form to illustrate my questions.
I would like to create a PDF form which could be distributed among workers at an office. I'll send the form to the office manager and won't know how many people will use it or how many times it will be distributed. I realize I could create a webpage form to accomplish the same thing but I don't to require users to go to a website, register, and then submit the form. I think a form (if feasible) may be more user-friendly considering the users.
Questions...
1. I'd like the data to be collected in a database on my server. This shouldn't be an issue in a stand alone form but how would the following criteria effect this?
2. When the data is stored into a database on my server, this triggers an automatic email to whatever company was checked under #1 (lite pink). Could a copy of the form be sent to each company sent without disclosing the other companies solicited? Only part of the form is visible? With comments, you can display but not print. Is there a way to use these capabilities for something like this?
3. I'd like capture who's using the form so info in 2, 3, and 4 (red). Its important for me to collect feedback from the user on the effectiveness of this form. Did the companies reply with a price?
4. I would like the companies to answer specific questions about their product (yellow). For example, specific price, warranty or delivery. Sometimes when asking companies for this information, they may or may not provide all this information in their response. By using this form as the platform for their response, the company would need to answer the specific information. So, can this form then be sent back to the user after completed by the company?
5. The company my want to attach a written proposal along with the information on this form (green). Can they attach to the form?
I assume other systems will need to be developed in conjunction with the PDF to accomplish this wishlist. Essentially, i want the PDF form to be the conduit for communication back and forth between the parties and I want to capture the data behind the scenes in my server. This may be outside the realm of possibilities of the PDF form and more appropriate through a website but a form with this group would be more user friendly and used more frequently. They wouldn't have to bookmark a website, register with a name and password, or seek out this website. The PDF sits on their desktop.
Any thoughts on one or more of these questions would be appreciated.

A PDF form can be set up to submit to a web server, so what you outlined can be done with a PDF form. Most of what you need will have to be done server-side, so someone will have to write the program on the server that pocesses the incoming submissions and takes appropriate action.
You can set up certain fields to be required so that if they are not completed, the user won't be able to submit the form.
To include attachments, there are basically two options.
1. Set up a field to work like a HTML file upload field. This involves a bit of JavaScript in the form: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.734.html
If using this method, it might be best to submit as "HTML" and process the form as though it were an HTML form, with the exception of the response (usually FDF) that must be returned. There is a lot of mature code/libraries available for processing HTML forms.
2. Set up the form to submit the entire PDF, as opposed to just the form data. This requires that the PDF be Reader-enabled, which allows Reader users to attach a file as a comment and submit the PDF form + attachment. The problem is the server-side processing become more difficult since you have to find a way to extract the form data from the PDF. If everyone will be using Acrobat, or Reader 11 (or later, presumably), then the document does not need to be Reader-enabled
There's more to know, particularly in dealing with security and the client-side issues relating to how Acrobat/Reader respond when submitting and receiving a response from a web server, but I hope this can get you started.

Is that possible there was the field ZDATE in your form interface/ context and now it is not? I guess some source has changed so the field in the form (binding to the not existing field) cannot be processed. Otto

My form data is not being displayed when signing in to different websites such as Facebook.

I have tried clearing the history and form data, and I have tried deleting the specific sites that I've been having problems with and still has not fixed the problem.
