  • Videos from Youtube or Google Videos into phone?

Does anybody know how to get videos from Youtube to a 6680? I suppose I first need to somehow get the file to my computer and then convert, right?
And how about Google videos - I downloaded the Ipod video mp4 format but it wouldn't work on the phone. Then I converted that with PC Suite's Multimedia Player to 3gp (no size limit, 176x144) but there is no picture, just sound. What should I try next?
p.s. this is the clip I was trying to get - hilarious! Big Lebowski meets He-Man:

All those who believe in psychokinesis raise my hand.

    Thanks guys -
I actually found instructions how to download Youtube videos with Firefox:
    www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.08/howtovideo.html
So now I've got one on my computer in .flv format.
Do you think the Super video converter that Wired mentions could convert that for a phone? What settings should I choose?
    Thanks a million!Message Edited by wicker_man on 04-Aug-2006

  • IS IT POSSIBLE TO PLACE AN EMBEDED VIDEO IN I WEB. LIKE FROM YOUTUBE

CAN YOU EMBED YOU TUBE VIDEOS INTO IWEB? IF SO HOW?
    THANKS -JAMIE

Yes, it is. At YouTube or Google Video you will be given the HTML snippet for your video. You must take this code snippet and insert it into the HTML file for your iWeb page. Here are some basic steps...
    1. Decide where you want your video and know exactly what dimensions you need (you should see the width and height in the code snippet)
    2. Insert a text box onto your iWeb page and adjust its size to exactly your dimensions.
    3. Type in some uniquely identifiable text like, "VIDEOHERE" without changing the font or anything else...just type it in.
    4. Publish your page with iWeb.
    5. Find the html file associated with your published page (either on your iDisk or in a folder depending on how you published) and open it in any text editor like TextEdit (don't forget to change the "open and sav" preferences to ignore rich text format)
    6. Scroll through the html file and locate your placeholder text, e.g. "VIDEOHERE".
    7. Replace the placeholder text with your html code and SAVE your page. (JUST SAVE, not save as...)
That's it. You should see your video show up in Safari exactly where you placed the text box in iWeb.
    Examples:
    http://web.mac.com/jwtseng/iWeb/kate/MyWorld/6C457884-51D7-4643-9DA8-AB149E6B544 F.html
    http://web.mac.com/jwtseng/iWeb/kate/MyWorld/24937660-2AE2-41D1-A81C-D12B99AC23E 7.html
http://funhouse.dirtdoog.com <== click on the baby with the bag
A few tips to help you find the correct file to edit... Example... if your page is named "movie" then the file you will want to find is called movie.html. All of your iWeb files live inside the sitefolder which is on your iDisk in the /Web/Sites/iWeb/ folder (assuming you are publishing to .Mac).
Keep in mind also, that since iWeb knows nothing about your editing activities, it will overwrite your changes anytime the page is republished by iWeb. You may want to get familiar with free programs like MassReplaceIt that will save your editing activity and enable you to redo them with the click of the mouse. http://www.hexmonkeysoftware.com/
Programs like iWebEnhancer basically do the same thing without making you look through your HTML files. But I don't think iWebEnhancer is free.

  • Export option for highest quality posting to Google video and YouTube

I'm trying to figure out what the best export options are for posting video on Google Video and YouTube. My primary interest is skiing video with quick actions. Here are the 5 options I tried on my iMovie HD 6, the latest and the greatest:
    MPEG4, LAN
    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2913246368993273712
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xL6RHKXydhQ
    MPEG4, LAN, High Quality
    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1920438333553484589
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0myAYyBx0k
    Quicktime, LAN, 320x240, Deinterlace
    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2101048758986639008
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rExhbmBksVs
    Quicktime, LAN
    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8289794703671829891
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-nwmyJ-y_g
    Quicktime, LAN, Deinterlace
    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1116022416411494165
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4Wch75hTzs
You can get the whole list on each site with following URL
    http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=imovie-quality-comparison
    http://www.youtube.com/my_playlists?p=C0D08A3D961234E4
Each video has cross reference URL in the description which link to the same video posted on other site.
Currently my choice is "Quicktime, LAN, Deinterlace" on Google Video. Only thing I don't like is doubling of image for fast moving part, which somehow disappears if I reduce the size to 320x200, but then it is too blurry when displayed in full screen.
None is usable on YouTube. They look horrible, but there are much better quality videos on YouTube.
Since there are so many knobs to play around on each option, I'm at loss what to play around with. I did quick things like increasing the size to 720x480 or increasing the frame rate, but surprisingly, none seems to make any difference when filtered through their encoder.
I like to solicit suggestions on what option to try. I'll export the same video with that options, upload it to both sites and we can take a look.

Hi — I also found you via Slashdot. You've gone to a good amount of effort to solve this scientifically.
I'm just here to say: Face it, you need to go past the built-in options. Here's what you need to know:
    1. YouTube is 320x240 (or 320 by anything lower, for widescreen). You must scale to that.
    2. YouTube is 30fps maximum, so if you already have that, set that. If you have 25 or 24, use that. If you have 50, it looks better with 25 (I've tried).
    3. The interlacing choice is purely up to your original video. Does it have 480 lines or 576 lines? And if so, does it have fluid "live camera" motion, unlike film? If your answer is yes to both, then you have interlacing. Since YouTube doesn't do interlacing, you need to remove it.
    4. Both YouTube and Google Video have a problem with the (seemingly open, standard) MP4 format. We think it's because of the VLC software they used. Anyway, use a QuickTime MOV file for the wrapping container, so export to QuickTime Movie (not MPEG-4). But use the H.264 codec. It's good.
OK, that's it. It's your pretty complete, simple guide to making good YouTube videos.
Don't forget to use a tripod and external microphones, and lay off using the zoom too much. That's my other advice, for earlier in the process. Now you've learnt everything technical The rest is only down to viral marketing and you can learn all that by example out on YouTube.
    CK.

I have a user that wants to embed google video into their
page updated by Contribute. All I have been able to find is that
Contribute can only embed video that is housed on their website. Is
there a work around for this? Here is the code google provides:

basics of youtube and google video is they have a flv video
    and a swf player.
    2 ways of loading them:
one, load a HTML box inside your flash, then load the
youtube/google video content use the embed method
two, find the FLV link, make a player yourself... or find one

  • How do I route audio from a YouTube video to AU Lab using SoundFlower so that I can capture the YouTube video's sound stream?

How do I route audio from a YouTube video to AU Lab using SoundFlower so that I can capture the YouTube video's sound stream?

Attach camera via USB or put card in card reader.
Go to FCP, and go to the Log and TRANSFER window.
If FCP recognizes the card, you will see your clips listed on the left.
You can view them, set Ins and Outs, and import just what you want.
Once you choose a section of video and import it, FCP converts (transcodes) from its original camera format to Apple ProRes422 - a more edit friendly video file.

  • Embedded videos from Youtube in firefox are black with sound. In Safari, they view just fine. What is the problem?

I created a Google site at the office and put two videos from youtube in the site. I did this using an earlier version of Firefox and they worked just fine.
Tonight I am using Firefox 9.01 and the two videos are black (no video) but have audio.
They are fine if I open Safari and view.
    What could be the problem?

Try to disable the hardware acceleration in the Flash Player.

  • Video Capture from Elgato

    Hi all,
I'm entering into the Video Production world and I'm evaluating to buy a tool to get old VHS tapes into my iMAC.
Reading on newspapers, webs, etc. I found the Video Capture product from Elgato.
Is someone using it ? How it works ? Can I consider it to enter in a professional manner into VHS to DVD conversion ?
I know that there is a similar product (Roxio easy VHS to DVD) but from a US MacWolrd video it seems that Elgato is better ?
Is someone able to comment on that ?
    Thanks
    Giancarlo

Neither of the products you mentioned is the correct product if you plan to edit the video. The Elgato Video Capture website claims: "Elgato Video Capture transfers video from a VCR and other analog video sources to your Mac in a format that is ready for iTunes®, an iPod® or iPhone™, YouTube™, and iMovie®"
None of those formats are suitable for editing. The same is true of Roxio's Easy VHS to DVD.
If you don't plan to edit the footage, then either will do. But if you do plan to edit "in a professional manner" then you'd need a DV converter like the Canopus ADVC line of products. A DV converter (or qualified DV camcorder or VTR) will convert the analog video/audio signal to a Firewire signal that can be captured on your Mac in a format that is native for most NLEs. The ADVC300 adds a TBC - further enhancing/stabilizing the analog signal.

  • Hello, I have a question. If I download a Easy youtube downloader to my mac computer, do I share content. For example, when I download a video from YouTube, share I it, or no? Thank you.

Hello, I've got a question. Does Easy Youtube downloader share content? For example, when I download a some video from YouTube, share I it, or no? Thank You.

You're 'sharing' or uploading to Youtube, not an Adobe server or service.
"2.7 “Shared Material” means the User Material that you or other Users share through the Services."
You are using Googles/Youtube's services to upload, not Adobe's.
Nost Youtube videos can be viewed without Flash using their HTML5  option, or by using a Safari or other browser extension, like http://hoyois.github.io/safariextensions/clicktoplugin/

'''If you are running Adblock Plus...'''
While on a YouTube page, right click the ABP icon and "open blockable items".
When the window opens at the bottom of the page, right click this line: http://s.ytimg.com/yt/swfbin/watch_as3-vfl9DouAr.swf (or some variation) , then "Disable Filter".
