Capturing packets using NAM modules on Prime Infrastructure1.2

  Hi,
I added or discovered all the NAM modules on my network to PI1.2. however, when i try to create a capture session i don't see my NAM modules list.  or i don't see my NAM modules as datasources. this is despite the fact that the NAM modules are added to the devices list on PI1.2. let me know how to get this working.

    What do you mean?
    Dropping a TCP/UDP packet would happen at the IP level. Given that TCP/UDP runs on IP (and ICMP as well) that means that basically you must impliment a stack.
    Conversely it might be that the specific stack you are using provides that functionality and you just need to configure it. That would be done via JNI (and has nothing to do with IP/TCP/UDP.)
    If all you are doing is proxying, which is what a firewall does, then you recieve a TCP packet and then just drop it or forward it. Doing that in a Java application however is not actually the same as most firewalls (certainly not dedicated boxes.)

  • Two Copies of Each Packet seen using NAM

    When capturing traffic for ONE vlan using the NAM I can see two copies of the same packet for every packet sent.
    Can anyone explain this.

    The span session which we ususally configure usning the NAM is as follows:

    A "Show monitor" request gives the following:

    Destination Ports : analysis-module 1 data-port 1
    I have had a look at the bugs that you listed. I amust admit that I dont really understand the description in the first bug report. The second bug report references a line card which we do not have installed so I guess that this one would not apply.
    When we are capturing packets with the NAM as I originally mentioned it appears that we are seeing two copies of packests that are being received from a client within a particular VLAN but only one copy of packets that are transmitted back to the same client on the same VLAN.
    In addition, if we perform a capture (using Etherreal) on the client in question, we only see one packet being transmitted by the client but we can see this same packet twice on the captures taken from the NAM.

    Can you please let me know on how to Capture the File Names of any extension(EG : xls,text,.csv etc) at a time  and stores in excel file  using SSIS?

    If you need to act differently on each file type separately or if not all types of files are wanted, i.e. the Filespecifier cannot be *.* in the Foreach loop:
    In the ssis package
    make 3 variables:
    to store the file extension, e.g. User::CurrentExtension of type string
    to store the filename found in the directory: @CurrentFilename
    to store the name of the directory where the files reside e.g. User::CurrentDirectory
    make a foreach loop of type Foreach Item enumerator:
    in the items list you add each file extension that you need
    txt
    csv
    xls
    xlsx
    As Variable mappings map the CurrentExtension to Index 0
    Inside this foreach loop add another foreach loop of type Foreach File enumerator, in the collection Expressions
    add Expression Directory , set to @[User::CurrentDirecotry]
    add Expression FileSpec, set to "*." + @[User::CurrentFileExtension]
    In the Variable mappings, map Variable user::CurrentFilename to Index 0
    Inside this loop use Execute SQL Task to insert the filename in a Excel connection.

    The steps for  creating extractor using Function Module. I
    1. Create new Function group (if you have already not done so) in Se80
    2. Copy Function module "RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA_SIMPLE" with suitable name.
    3. Change the code that populate data.
    Following table may give you the guideline for parameters.
    Parameter Description
    I_REQUNR (import) BW provides this request identifier. It is a system-generated identifier in the form REQU_XXXXXX. BW uses this same identifier in all function module calls that relate to a single load.
    I_DSOURCE (import) The name of the generic extractor
    I_MAXSIZE (import) The maximum number of records that BW expects to be in each data packet
    I_INITFLAG (import) A Boolean flag that indicates if this is the initialization (first) call to the function module
    I_READ_ONLY (import) A test flag not needed in most extraction scenarios
    I_T_SELECT (table) This table holds any selections from the BW InfoPackage. The function module should examine these selections and only return data that matches the selections.
    I_T_FIELD (table) This table holds the fields that BW requests
    E_T_DATA (table) The function module fills this table with data records. These records then return to BW as data packets. This table has the same structure as the extract structure defined in the generic DataSource.
    NO_MORE_DATA (exception) The function module raises this exception when no more data is available
    ERROR_PASSED_TO_MESS_HANDLER (exception) The function module raises this exception if an error occurred during the extraction. It alerts BW to check for error logs.

  • Unable to capture image using MDT 2012

    After running my Sysprep and Capture task using MDT 2012, MDT begins to capture the image and makes it all the way to ~94% and then stops and returns several errors. Any idea as to what may be causing this? Below are the errors returned during the capture

    while you execute the program , a selection screen appears in which the inputs should be give as
    RFC destination - The target server name
    FTP command- PUT
    local file - your file name
    local directory - path of your local file
    remote file - your target file name
    remote directory - where it has to be stored

    You can design your report and use Function module VIEW_MAINTENANCE_CALL for that.

  • Error in Data selection in R/3 Generic Extraction Using function Modules

    Hi Friends,
    I have created a a generic data source using function module to load data from PA0000 and PA0001 Tables ,Function module is working fine when i execute it indipendently and  the data source is also working fine when i extract data using RSA3. it is showing correct no of records 157.
    When loading data into DSO from BW (using 3.x/7.0 flows) data is comming to PSA  all 157 records but in the RSMO the load status is showing yellow when i look into the step by step analysis it is
    data selection successfully started
    Data selection successfully ended
    All Data packets completed.
    are showing in red.
    after and hour time load getting failed and in the error message it is showing " job terminated in source system---> Request set to red"
    it is giving this message wir no RSM 78.
    Please let me know it

  • Creation of Generic Data source using function module based on the program which was used to created ABAP report

    We have a requirement to create a BI report based on plant maintenance report. The plant maintenance report is based on a ABAP program with complex logic. My question is i want create a Generic Datasource using Function module and can I include the logic(Abap Program) that is used for plant maintenance report in the function module? Please share your thoughts.

    Hi,
    Step1-Create a table structure which you need to create same as the fields you require in you data source.
    Step 2-create a custom abap program and inside that call the Client abap program with the selections as required and save the result data in some table
    Step 3-create infoset query.In the infoset query give your table structure name and  program name which you developed.
    Step4-create data source on top of that query

  • Error while using PayloadZipBean module

    For sending the data in zipped format in JDBC Adapter i used "PayloadZipBean" module.
    While Communication channel Monitoring at Receiver end I am getting this Error:--
    "Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.engine.services.jndi.persistent.exceptions.NameNotFoundException: Path to object does not exist at loacalejbs, the whole lookup name is localejbs/loacalejbs/AF_Modules/PayloadZipbean."**
    Is there any need to write this module in adapter engine?

  • Zip Payload using PayloadZipBean Module Processor

    Hi,
    I'm using AF_Modules/PayloadZipBean in module processor of Receiver SOAP adapter to compress/zip the message payload. I've used the following module key parameters :
    Parameter Name      Parameter Value
    zip.Mode                  zipAll
    zip.filenameKey        contentType
    In the adapter engine monitoring from RWB I can see the following warning message :
    Warning Zip: message is empty or has no payload
    But I can see the msg payload from the RWB message monitor as expected.
    Can anyone please throw any light on this issue?

    Can you please explain what you meant by transfer-encoding gzip?
    Actually the requirement is to receive xml message in compressed zipped  format along with digital signature. As I understand using the ModuleProcessor which you mentioned in your blog I can send zipped message (using File Adapter I've actually achieved the result as mentioned in your blog. So thanks a lot for that!). But in file adapter I can't use digital signature. So how to satisfy both the requirements using a single adapter (and maybe using some module processors over it)?
