Capturing signatures

Hi,
I have a mac-based friend who wants to be able to add a "signature" (as though you were "signing" a document with a pen) to the bottom of documents. Some things he deals with, require this, and in certain cases, email is desired over fax.
I'm just wondering if Acrobat would be capable of doing this fairly easily? I guess we'd have to create a one-time "signature" graphic that he could paste into acrobat or word doc's. this guy is not really tech savvy, so I'm looking for simple ways.
I thought also maybe we should buy him a Wacom graphics tablet or something, but that might be overkill.
any ideas?
thanks for any help.
(ps, i'm a PC user, got Acrobat CS3, but havent figured it out yet...)

Well if he doesn't have Acrobat of any flavor. what was the point to this exercise?
I know of no program Shareware or Freeware that can add a a stamp to a PDF. so he is out of luck unless you are willing to have him send a scan of his signature to you and you do it for him. As long as you are an honest person that would be great. But if your not that would be the key to the proverbial Piggy bank.
He could add a PNG image as I stated in a Word Document he wants to create a PDF out of then use the print menu function in Mac OSX to save as a PDF. They also I belive have stamps feature as well.

  • How to capture signature on mobile and send it to the bapi

    Hi all,
I developed an Mobile application(7.1) in which signature capture should be there.
1)How to capture this signature and send it to the backend .
2)How I have to define the function module for this requirement?
    Thanks and regards,
    Rajesh

    Hi Rajesh,
    Here are the steps:
    1. First, you have a signature capture tool. Most of the phones come with their own signature capture tools. For example, for Pocket PC - you can go to the MSDN site and then download the capture program.
    2. The captured signature should then be stored as an JGP/ PDF/ or any version.
    3. In your mobile application, you have to convert this file into binary format. This must be uploaded to the mobile middleware
In the mobile middleware, you must ensure that attachments are enabled. You can refer to this [link |https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?ath=/display/mobile/createapplicationsusingBinaryMemoandTextMemoinNetweaverMobile+7.1] for actions that you must do in the middleware and in the back-end.

  • Capture Signature from PDA or digital Pen with Flex

    Hi All,
I am creating an application in which there is a requirement to capture signature that will be done with PDA or digital pen.
There will be a form which will be accessed in PDA and it will be signed by a person. I need to capture that signature and pass to server.
How to capture this signature? Any idea?
    Thanks,
    -Chandu

    Hello  sorongo,
I haven't had such a requirement yet, but I found an example by Rich Heilman: [Upload Graphics Using Function Module|Upload Graphics Using Function Module].
I can only suggest you to download the image via DP_CREATE_URL and use the above mentioned approach to import it again.
    Good luck!

  • Capturing signatures and writing invoices

i'm looking to use the iphone in the future to create invoices, capture signatures and print off, email, of remotely fax them to customers. it should also be able to link to merchant account services. perhaps even to attach a customers picture to the invoice.
    can this be done

We do this all the time on other devices. I've written signature capture tools for various WM/ WinCE/ XP/ other devices.
First, you'll need an iPhone stylus that works well for the signature.
I'd buy one of each available (Google "iphone stylus"), and try them with a web-based drawing program or a jailbroken phone with a paint program, to see which works best.
(Of course, compared to the horrible signatures that many devices capture at various stores I've been to, perhaps accuracy isn't that important - grin )

  • Placing Electronically Captured Signature on Documents

I need to identify a solution that takes a document we create in SAP and apply an electronic signature from a signature pad, like that used when you use your charge card. Each document and signature will be different u2013 this is not a static signature or a digital signature. We do not want to print a hardcopy, have the customer sign it, and scan it back into the system for storage.
The ideal solution will be only one hardcopy signed document which would be given to the customer. We would have an electronically stored copy of the document (with signature) saved internal to the company. The solution would not involve any hardcopies stored by our company and no scanning of any hardcopies.
A hypothetical example would be to store a signed copy of a grocery store order.
u2022     A customer shops at the grocery store and then proceeds to check out.
u2022     The clerk then registers the order.
u2022     The customer signs the electronic signature pad and receives a copy of their order with their signature.
u2022     The system u201Cplacesu201D the electronically captured signature on the appropriate location on the order and stores the signed order for later reference. This is all on one image u2013 the order with the signature.
Is anyone familiar with this kind of functionality working in SAP?

    Hi Robert,
I'm not sure about any such feature in SAP, but, can suggest you some solution to achieve this.
If you can link the signature on the pad with automatic naming of the image file generated, (e.g. Bill No. + Date + Time Stamp) and store it in a central repository.
You can then pass this name via an RFC to SAP and call a SMARTFORM for bill storing.
The SMARTFORM can then read the image file from the central repository and print the dynamic image as required.
    Regards,
    Pranav.

  • Print Capture Signature in Smartforms

    Hi experts,
I would like to know if it is possible to print a captured signature from a mobile device into my smartforms.
The customer will sign through a device and the output for the invoice will be printed with the signature.
I believe another SAP module(SAP MAM) is used to capture  the signature but as an ABAPPER how can I retrieve the signature and include it in the printout of the invoice?
    Thanks!
    eric

    Hi,
Ask sap-mam people to call a workflow or a report porogram in which .
    1) if it is workflow run rrstxldmc and provide the captured sign file name and after that event is successful trigger and anotherr task that runs the script's driver program. Now the captured sign will be appered in your smartforms
Note: add the logo in the script(logo name is constant in the script)
    2) if it is report submit rxtxldmc with the file name captured by the sapmam and remaining all are same.
    Thanks,
    NN.

  • Ipad app that will fill in pdf form and capture signature with stylus

Hello.  I am looking for an application which will allow me to read, edit and fill out pdf forms AND capture a signature on the pdf form with a stylus.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I currently am using an ipad, second generation.

hullo there, i would personally recommend writepdf, i use this myself and you can do all of the above more or less, you can also create customized signatures and insert them into pdfs. i think what i like even more about writepdf is that you can directly edit docs, anyway, definitely look for it on the app store!

Search YouTube for "inskape bitmap tracing". Then you can convert the SVG to whatever format or size you want, and add it in whatever document you need.
I've tried with the laptop's webcam and the mobile phone's camera but it doesn't work properly. Unfortunately both aren't good for macros. I'll try with a proper camera in the next few days. Have a signature to attach on documents is always useful.

  • Preview won't capture signature

When I go to add a signature in Preview, I hold the signature up to the camera and nothing happens. I've seen videos of people doing the same thing and Preview instantaneously shows a preview of their signature. I do not have the same luck. Pressing Accept just closes the window and doesn't add a signature. I'm unsure what to do now, as I need to add a signature to a PDF document and would rather not take a picture of the screenshot and paste it into the original Word document.

I had the same problem, quit Preview multiple times, but finally got it to work via blind luck. I arranged a bright light above and behind the computer, but even that wouldn't work until I took my paper with sig and sort of angled it toward the light (no longer parallel to the computer) until my preview appeared, then I could move the paper back to parallel and click Accept. The eye hand coordination for this was a bit challanging, so doubt I could accomplish this with even a mild blood alchohol %, so please do try my fix only when sober.
Alas, just another item in the long list of bugs and Apple slipping on quality control. There was a time when Apple meant it just works (and I have been using Macs since the early 90s), but now Apple is the new Microsoft in my life. Constant annoyances and headaches. Surely Apple can pay the best of the best. The loser who signed off on this should be fired because he/she failed.
Sorry Apple, but if you are going to take us all to the cleaners and lock out all competition and innovation, can you at least make stuff that works again?

  • Trying to capture signature for Acrobat

I scanned my signature and saved it as a tiff. So then opened it in PS CS4. Then cropped it and tried the magic wand to select around it to  eventually invert (blue ink on white background) but it wouldn't keep selecting around (holding shift key and clicking to keep selecting) it like I have done/accomplished many times before in PS 7.0 - I saved it to web/devices as jpg too but same thing. Is there somethig I'm doing wrong where it won't keep selecting around the image? I want to then invert it so I have a transparent image that I can change colors and stuff? My goal is to create a custom signature for  Acrobat.
    Thanks for your help!

Another possibility is resetting the Magic Wand tool from the drop-down menu in the Options bar.
If all else fails, try resetting your PS preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • Making a form "signable" using a signature capture pad or tablet?

    Hi,
Our system right now is generating a very simple form to be printed, signed by a customer, and then filed.  We're looking to go paperless with the system and just have the customer sign a signature capture pad (I don't know if I'm calling this device by the right name - I mean the flat pad or touchscreen that is signed with a plastic tipped pen, like when you swipe your own credit card.)
We then want this "captured" signature to be placed in the right location on the form, and the form saved in our records for retrieval and printing later if necessary.
Right now, this form is a plain webpage styled with a "print" style sheet.  It's just a few paragraphs of plain text so alignment isn't critical.  I can switch to using a pdf form if that makes it easier.  The key is, we want this to work as a web-based system, so ideally if pdf is necessary it would work on machines running Reader or Acrobat.
I've never worked with one of these signature pads.  How do they generally hand data to the computer?  Is it an image?  Would this image then have to be upped to the server and then dropped onto the form?  Or is there an easier way?
Any suggestions would be great.  I enjoy studying these things on my own, but I can't even find anything to study in this case lol.
    Thanks,
    Joe

I think you're not getting an responses because you're not asking in the right place.  This is a CF forums, and what you're asking has nothing to do with CF at all, other than your question relates to web-based forms, and CF is a web-oriented technology.
If I was faced with your requirement, I'd be checking the input device's website or community, and see what they've got: someone will have done this already, or it might be documented right out of the box.  You need to apporach this from the perspective of "how do I get this particular device to integrate with HTML forms and webpages" not "I have a web form... how do I get it to work with this input device" (if you see the subtle difference there: just one of where you start your investigation).
Either way, CF won't know or care about how the client-side form is filled out,  all it will see is some form fields which have been sent to it via a POST or a GET HTTP request.  In fact it doesn't even care that there's a form involved.  All it deals with is HTTP requests, and the data therein.
