Capturing video at 3/4 speed in imovie HD. Can you adjust capture speed?

I shot footage using the JVC HD100 at 24p. Even though FCP now handles it, it keeps aboring the capture. I tried using imovie HD, but it keep capturing at 3/4 speed. The audio plays normal, but the video is sped up. Is there a way I can change the setting in imovie HD to capture at a normal speed. My work around was to conform the video back to 23.98 in cinema tools, but this is too tedious for an entire movie. Can someone help? Is this a glitch in imovie?

This feature is not built into iMovie 08. However, you can take a clip and use a third party app like JES Deinterlacer to change the speed. Then reimport the new clip into iMovie.

No. iMovie 09 (and 11) is designed to import movies from camcorders. Every time it detects a start/stop it will make a different clip. They will be in chronlogical order, rather than edited order.
If you still have iMovie 06, you can load the tape there as one continuous clip. Then EXPORT USING QUICKTIME choosing HDV as your codec. This will produce an MOV file that iMovie 09 or 11 can read, and which will be in the edited order.

Screen Capture Video Loses Quality When Imported Into iMovie - WHY?

I am using screen capture software to make a video of my screen at 1024x768. The video is for a tutorial. I want to use iMove to get things like transitions and such into the movie, and to add text and audio. The problem is that, although the video looks great in QuickTime, it loses quality significanly when I import into iMove. The text on the screen is blurry, and the quality of everything else is terrible as well.
Is this s limitation of iMove? Can screen capture video be imported? Does it only work with DV?
Also, I tried to convert the file to many other formats, from QuickTime to MPEG-4, so it's not the file type.
If anyone can help me out, I've be very grateful.

Your dimensions are getting in the way. iMovie converts your 1024X768 to a DV Stream file that is 720X480.
One workaround would be to set your display resolution smaller. Try 800X600 (if your windows fit that size).
If you're using Snapz Pro you should set your window capture to 640X480. This size will import nicely into iMovie.
An even better way would be to do all of the work using QuickTime Pro. Again a 1024X768 QT.mov file would not fit on the most common display settings used. When you add the QT Player window the controller would be below the screen and not accessible for most users.
800X600 would make a better file (smaller, too). It would still be 4:3 aspect and would also import into iMovie.

You can within iMovie HD. You can't from within '08. (You can pre-edit a clip for fast or slow motion externally.)

It is not so much a question of why it might have been deliberately eliminated but a question of how to add it to iMovie '08. As has been said hundreds, if not thousands, of times already, this is an entirely new application editing in an completely new manner. Motion changes require re-rendering of the file to use it in a project. iMovie '08 does not do any rendering until the project (i.e., which is merely a set of instructions) is actually completed. In case you haven't noticed, none of the third-party special effect "plug-ins" are compatible with iMovie '08 either. Your best bet is to either use iMovie HD (v6.0.4 available free online to iLife '08 users). It is either that or learn how to create such effects externally with other applications like the JES Deinterlacer (free) or QT Pro ($30).

Hi; I have an HP Comaq Presario CQ57. The fan has gotten pretty loud; even when I first turn on the laptop and it is well ventalated in a cool area it is obnoxiously loud. It's a pretty hard thing to use but it does give a readout of temperatures, which is useful even if you can't use it to adjust fan speed. Also go into the BIOS (F10) and see if there is a fan always on option and if so deselect it.
The fan is running fast for a reason. It is a symptom not a disease. Very likely the computer needs to be opened up and cleaned out inside. Post back if you want some direction on how to tackle that chore.

After using video credits to purchase episodes for a series, can you urchase the remaining episodes at a discounted price?

I was recently given 3 video credits from Apple as a way to purchase musice videos and/or single TV episodes of my choice. The limitations were-I could not use them to purchase full length movies, TV episodes that state "Season only," unable to use them to buy gifts and unable to use them to buy certain HD TV episodes.
I used 2 of the video credits to purchase 2 episodes of a series. When I tried to purchase the rest of the episodes on iTunes, I was promoted to view a cheaper offer since I already own one or more of the episodes. When I clicked "view offer" the price was for the full price of the whole series. This meant that the episodes I bought with the video credits had no value, I still will ended up paying for them. Isn't the point of getting video credits from Apple is so that I can save money?

That said, it sounds a bit strange that the MacBook would run so hot. The fan should adjust itself to the CPU warmth. If that is not happening, I'd investigate whether the fan really works.
