CAPWAP Mesh AP (MAP) Losing BGN on Reboot

Working on getting an ethernet bridge configured and all is good, but after doing some testing I've found that if my MAP loses power, it will not connect back to the RAP and can't find the WLC.  From my understanding, even though these are LWAPP APs, they should still save the BGN somewhere on the AP in a file.  In my test scenario, I have the AP connected to a switch that is not connected back to the network the WLC or RAP is on (this way I can replicate my intended design).
I'm just looking for some insight from someone who's "been there" with this issue.  I doubt my remote site will have a power outage, but I need to be prepared.
Thanks in advance!

What equipment do you have and what code. I run indoor mesh and notice the same thing, but it's code dependent for some reason.  Never seen that issue in any outdoor mesh deployments I have had.

  • 8330 keeps losing power and rebooting

my curve 8330 keeps losing power and rebooting, does anyone know how to fix this, tried cleaning battery terminals but did not work.

I also have a 8330 and it does the same thing.  It randomly resets (like a master reset as it takes a long time to reboot) throughout the day.  I am a Canadian user and talked to Bell who told me I had to send the phone in.  I went to one of their stores and sent the phone away for 2 weeks.  I received it yesterday as it was "repaired".  I had it less then 24hrs and again it reset about 12 times during that time.  I am also not able to activate Enterprise since the repair.  My company exhausted it's options to help me set it up but they determined the is a hardware issue.  So The problem is worse now.  I have tried with and without media card and it doesn't change anything.  I have waste days with Bell trying to resolve this issue as technical support on the phone confirms that it is a hardware problem.  I have now had to take the phone back to Bell for repair again.  I am shocked with Bells attitude concerning this problem as I have talked to numerous customer service managers that tell me that I have a contract with them to provide the "service".  They don't seem to care that the hardware doesn't allow me access to their service.  I am also amazed that they don't care that a customer has to waste time on tech support phone calls and traveling to their stores to ship the phone back to Blackberry.  As well as my company that wasted time setting up my "loaner" phone then my regular phone after repair and then again a "loaner" phone when nothing was fixed.  When does Blackberry get involved and make the customer happy?  I am surprised that the cell phone providers can not issue a new phone when there is a hardware problem under warranty.   I was told by Bell that Blackberry typically needs to see the phone 5-7 times before they will issue a new one....  This translates to the customer doing 10-14 trips to the store and a large amount of time setting the phone back up each time...
Unless something happens fast, my company is buying out my contract with Bell and I will be switching to a competitive smartphone.  This is unfortunate as I like Blackberry but can not stand the support.  (since I can only talk to Bell as Blackberry won't talk to me directly and only directs me to my cell provider)
Very Frustrating.  But a hardware problem for sure.

  • Cannot MESH Multiple MAPs to Single RAP

    Hello,
Our environment consisits of ~200 1552E APs.  Up until recently we have used either Cat6 or fiber to connect them to our network.  Recently we have begun meshing APs instead of running the Cat6 or fiber.  The meshed APs have been single MAPs connected to single RAPs.
This week I have started testing multiple MAPs.  Painfully, I have not been successful with meshing more than one MAP to a RAP.  For instance, I have set up a RAP with a BGN of "MESH_TEST" and two MAPs with the same BGN.  If I power the RAP with MAP #1, the meshed link works like a charm.  If i power on MAP #2 and power down MAP #1, the mesh between MAP2 and RAP works great.  If I attempt to power both MAPs, only one of the MAPs will establish a connection to the RAP while the other cycles through it's discovery for meshed neighbours and WLC.
    Have I overlooked anything?
On the contrlloer I have executed the following command - debug capwap events enable
What I see in the log is the following line that continues to occur for the MAC address of the unconnected MAP.
*RRM-DCLNT-2_4: May 15 14:05:20.520: d4:d7:48:6d:6c:60 Unable to find data structure for AP  D4:D7:48:6D:6C:60
I have searched the forums and documentation for this error/message and cannot locate any reference to it.
    Thanks for any assistance.
    Cheers,
    André

This should work and in my view you have not left anything here.

  • 2602 lightweight AP losing config on reboot

Anyone encountered an issue with the 2602E access points losing config everytime they lose power?
I have a 5508 WLC running 7.4.121.0 code and two 2602E Flexconnect access points that everytime they lose power they default their configuration. The APs are located at a remote site connected via MPLS and are configured for FlexConnect with local switching. The 2602Es will re-associate with the WLC since the DHCP option 43 points them to it, they just show up with the default config.
I have three 2602E models at the site but only two of them are doing this, the third comes back up and associates and has retained its configuration. I also have several 1142 models at the site and they behave normally.

There are no secondary controllers, just the primary. These two access points lose all configuration, name, ap group, flexconnect group, flexconnect setting, everything. Its like they are new out of the box and associating for the first time. I have a third 2602E located att the same site and have tested it via power reset and reboots and it retains all config. Both the AP that retains its info and the two that dont are all running the same code/boot version/etc. I cant see any difference in their configuration.

  • Messaging and Social Networking Widgets Losing Settings After Reboot...

I'm having problems with my Messaging and Social Networking Widgets losing all of their settings after a reboot (power off/on).
Is anyone else seeing this? Is there a fix for this issue?

Try doing a phone reset by removing your battery for 5 seconds then place it back in and power your phone on.  You may have to add the settings back. • Tables in mapping losing location after import

Hi, I have 2 OWB repositories (lets say Dev and Prod). Both contain the same objects but reside on different databases.
If I make a change in a mapping in Dev, export the mapping and import into Prod, the table references within the mapping have lost their locations and I need to edit the mapping and point them to the correct locations.
Any way around this or explaination of why it is happening ?
    Thanks
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
try to import the mappings using "match by name" and not "match by universal identifier".
The default import mode is "match by universal identifier". If your location on prod has an identifier different from the one on dev, it will not be found during import.
If you import using "match by name", owb will look for a location on prod with the same name as the location on dev.
    Regards,
    Carsten.

  • OWB Mapping losing expression contents

I have just recently started having a problem with my OWB 10.2 mappings where I create expressions, enter the expression output information, save, deploy, etc. Mappings work OK but then the next time, or at various times when I go back into the mapping the expression content is gone. I have to re-create the expression output, re-save, re-deploy, etc.
I have recreated the information several times, and it continues to happen. There is no pattern to the loss of expression information, it happens in various mappings, not all, and it doesn't happen every time in the same mappings.
    Anyone have any ideas??????
    Thanks.

It's a very annoying bug you can't reproduce to report an SR because it doesn't always happen. I think it's most likely to happen when after creating the operator adding attributes first time and saving the mapping, you reopen it and add new attributes. This is something (adding new attributes to operators with more than one group) OWB doesn't manage OK, the references in the altered operator get messed, it's getting even worst with every new version, now we are working with 10.2.0.4, and it's so painful I have determined to redo the operator from new when I have to change it.
Oracle has closed the SR asuring it's working with 10.2.0.5, but I'm sure it reproduces in this version, and the same goes with 11.2, so when we migrate I'll be opening the same SR I've been opening since OWB 9.2.

It seems a repair permissions solved it.
What triggered this issue in the first place was Facebook told me my certificate in the first place was not valid.    Updating to Safari 6.1.6 from 6.1.4, and adding the 10.7.5 2014 Security Update #4 followed, and then it wouldn't keep the login on reboot.   Repairing permissions finally solved it.

  • IPFW losing rules after reboot

I am trying to block port 137 UDP and TCP and after I reboot the rules are gone. I run the following commands:
sudo ipfw add 1 deny tcp from any to any 137 out
sudo ipfw add 2 deny udp from any to any 137 out
Before a reboot I run sudo ipfw list and things look great.....reboot and run it again and I just see the default rule.
Probably a stupid question, but I can't find the answer anywhere and I am a noob with ipfw. And Leopard just mixes the whole process up as well with ipfw and its new application firewall.
So I guess my questions are: Why do the rules disappear? How do I get the rules to stay?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Hi
It sounds like you need to configure a startup script without a startup script when you reboot your computer- the computer "forgets" the ipfw rules
You can google the search terms : "ipfw startup script " "launch daemons ipfw " " ipfw rules gone after reboot" "shell script launch firewall rules ipfw" "ipfw startup plist " -OR-
You can use WATERROOF waterroof is a free application that will help you configure your ipfw rules waterroof will also install a startup script and a startup plist on your hard drive
Check out this link to the waterroof website

  • ISCSI ASM partition losing permissions on reboot

Using OEL 5.4. I'm trying to get my permissions to stick on a disk partition so that ASM can use the disk. Every time I reboot though I have to chown and chmod the disk so ASM can use it. Anyone have any idea how to get the permissions to stick after a reboot?

I'm sorry I am using asmlib and I have configured the disk using the oracleasm createdisk command. With that I should be able to view the disk when I create my ASM instance, but the only way it sees it is if I chown and chmod the disk to oracle:dba. Maybe I should change the configuration to root:something and see if that works.
    Edit:
I went back and noticed that you used /sbin/service oracleasm... I was using /etc/init.d/oracleasm. For some reason that made the difference. I now don't have to change the permissions in order for ASM to use/see the disks. I reported it on my metalink ticket maybe they will make note of it somewhere.

  • RAP and MAPs change the channel and Radio Role

    I have a WLC 2504 with version  AIR-CT2500-K9-7-5-102-0, LAPs are AIR-CAP2602E-A-K9
I set serveral LAPs for working in mesh mode, I set three Bridge Group Name, the first group has one Root AP and three MAPS working in channel 157, every MAP has a switch connected to its ethernet port.
the second group has 2 LAPs one Root and one MAP, all working in channel 48. The MAP  is connected to a switch.
the third group has  2 LAPs, one root and one MAP, all working in channel 149. The MAP  is connected to a switch.
    The issue is the next:
At the beginnig every LAPs were associated to its bridge group and in the channel defined but suddenly all LAPs of group 1 move to channel 48 (second group) includind the ROOT AP. This happend after the switch that connect to the RAP was disconnect from  LAN.
In order the associate once again LAPs of the first group  to the channel I defined previously I connected RAP to the switch once again I notice the channel shown was 48 and in downlink role mode.I change to channel 157 reset the LAP and wait several minutes; after the first reset the RAP remains in channel
48 (it must be 157), I reset once again and wait severeal minutes. Finally the RAP was up and working in channel 157.
After this I reset the MAPs that corresponde to BGN 1 , after severasl minutes finally just one MAPs for BGN 1 was show in the correct channel and in the correct Radio role, I have to reset several times  the other MAPs until they were shown in the channel I set previously and in the correct radio role.
I would like to know the reason the RAP and MAP move to a differente channel eventhough I define de Bridge Group Name in every one and the specific channel.
    regards

    Hi scott ,
Thanks for your explanation, very clear.
In my scenario  every RAP connet to a switch where I define VLANs and specific VLANs are allow to pass. If RAP and MAP join to a different RAP (different BGN)
it will allow to pass traffic or maybe don't allow traffic I needs to .  That's why I worry about the keep the MAPs join to the correct RAP and the RAP keep in the BGN and channel set previously.
is there any option to this  avoid this issue?
Thanks a lot for your time
    regards

  • WRT610N - Storage - Password access to router's mapped drive with XP Home

Is there a way to bypass the Linksys login screen when clicking on the router's mapped drive in XP Home?

We might have two things being discussed here - 1) changing a password to a existing storage account and 2) the problem of windows storing the user/password for a mapped drive after a reboot.
I'm struggling with with windows storing the user /password for my mapped drive (the external hardrive plugged into the router's USB).  If I can't figure this out...I might as well return the router?!  I have the "reconnect button" checked and "connect using a different user name" filled out properly. So what's the deal?  Maybe someone from Linksys should address this problem.  It may seem trivial to login every time but it ruins the way iTunes works and I'm guessing other music/photo software applications.  If itunes can't "see" the drive at login it deafults to your "My Document/My Music" directory so everytime you have to manual re-point the library.  I hope I'm clear.  Linksys please help!

  • Mesh and Flexconnect with WLC5508

    Hi Community.
A customer have a bad coverage in a corner of his branch office. He like to add a mesh AP (MAP) in the near of that corner.
I checked allready the documention about Mesh but i'm not sure if Flexconnect and Mesh works togheter. This MAP is in a branch office and the WLC is in the head quarter therefore he likes to uses Flexconnect togheter with Mesh.
    Best regards Patrick

Oaky, and if the AP is setup as RAP than other wireless clients cant connect to that AP anymore ?
I have to do Ethernet Bridging and give the Bridge Group a name, right? Set that on the MAP and the RAP.
I have to set the port on the switch where the RAP is connected to a trunk port, so all 3 WLANs (VLAN) can reach the switch over Wireless.
But how do i forward these 3 WLAN (VLAN) from the MAP to the RAP and finaly to the switch.

  • Maps on N8 headset problem

I have 3 Nokia headsets, BH 212, 217 and 609 none of which work with the Maps app on my N8 and directions are only heard through the handset. In all other ways they work fine. However they all work with my N97 mini. Both handsets have v3.06 Maps. I have rebooted my N8, also reinstalled the phone software with Ovi Suite and reset to factory settings none of which has made any difference. Any ideas anyone?

This query is better anwered when put up at Ovi services board, anyway I'll answer. For offline navigation in Ovi maps you need to download the map data of that particular place, you can use Ovi suite to download maps of various countries. The phone is looking for position because it hasn't got any information about that place.
If a reply has solved your problem click Accept as solution button, doing it will help others know the solution. Thanks.

  • Linksys WRT1900AC rebooting for no reason...

I have a linksys WRT1900AC using firmware 1.1.8.16917 and I have noticed the past few days it reboots for no known reason.
I have pulled the power on it and did a re-boot.  Any sugestions?
    All the best,
    Joe

There is a known problem with the Network Map app that causes reboots. Don't use it.
To safely update FW, I recommend doing the following:
    1. Save router config to file first using IE or FF with all security add-ons disabled.
    2. Factory reset the router with all other devices disconnected or turned OFF accept for 1 wired PC.
    3. Reload or Update the FW using IE or FF. Just download the FW file to your local wired LAN PC.
    4. Factory reset the router and then set up from scratch first and test with out loading the saved config from file. Check to see if any problems are fixed before loading the saved config from file. Sometimes you need to set up from scratch with out loading the saved config file. Just safer that way.
