Car Adaptor

After considerable searching on the web, I can't seem to find the product that I am looking for to ease the use of my iPod nano in my car. My recently purchased car has a 3.5 mm jack for connecting my iPod--great, just what I wanted, now I can pass on my iFreq FM transmitter/charger. But while it has been relatively easy to find a cable to connect the iPod to the input jack on the car, What I really want is an integrated docking station/charger with a line out to the input jack. Something like the iFreq, but with a line out instead of an FM transmitter. Does anything like this exist?

hello, i have the monster icar plus, it has a fm transmitter,it plugs into the cigarette outlet and charges at the same time. i think its about 70 bucks, i have used mine for 2+ yrs without issues and it sounds as good as cds, trust me, you will be happy with this purchase!

  • Car adaptor for w520?

I just bought myself a w520, and I'm still waiting for it to arrive.
My main usage for it is going to be in the field, driving around a lot, with very little access to a wall power point, so I'm looking at getting a car adaptor for it, but I don't seem to find any around.
I've seen a couple on ebay quoted for the w520, but they're only rated at 90w and not the full 170w, but I want to be able to use the laptop while plugged into the car, not just charge it.
    Any links/suggestions?
    Cheers!

    talsit, welcome to the forum,
I don't know of any, but would like to tag on a relevant question. Could a normal car "power point", (cigarette lighter), support a power adapter which needs to output 170W without burning out?  I'm doubtfull that it can, but remain to be corrected.

  • Nano 2nd Generation Car Adaptor Suggestions / Experiences Help

Hey everyone. I am looking to buy an adaptor to play my 2nd Gen Nano over my car stereo. I still have an old one that I used with my Mini (charger with cassette adaptor from Belkin I believe) but I can not stand it. The cassette makes alot of noise and I also pick up an electronic whine/buzz while playing music.
    Any suggestions or experiences?
    Thanks in advance.

Okay, I could have sweared I replied to this. Hope its not floating around somewhere else as a post that makes no sense.
Just wanted to thank you for the suggestion KoDor and reply that I also tried the iTrip for my origonal mini after getting tired of the messy cords and noise from the Belkin cassette adaptor and was not happy either.
It was too hard to get it to lock-in to a station and once it did I found myself having to find a new "empty" station every few songs because of bleed-through and static.
    Any other suggestions out there?

  • Ipod won't play out loud, and won't connect any longer to car adaptor

I have an ipod adapter for my car stereo, and it has worked well with my ipod touch for the 6 months i've been using it. But about a week ago, i was driving and using the adapter, and suddenly my ipod froze and reset it's self. After that, the adapter wouldn't work. It would play for 30 seconds, then the stereo would say "NO IPOD" and after removing the ipod there would be no volume bar, as if it were still connected. i decided to do a total restore, but the problem persisted. I tested it in another car with a different type of adapter, and it STILL would not play. this is VERY frustrating, and since my warranty expired last month, NO help from apple. ideas?

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack or bad speaker or other hardware problem..
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.

  • Suddenly unable to use car adaptor or other accesories / Error Message

I have had an Alpine head unit in my car with the ipod connection for about a year and it has worked fine until recently. Now I get an error message on the ipod that reads, "The currently attached accessory is not supported by this ipod." I tried connecting a buddy's ipod to my car stereo, and his still works fine with it. The local car stereo installation co. had no info. I've done the 5 R's, tried going back to an older version of itunes as Alpine suggested. Also, I attempted to hook up to an alarm clock accessory, I did not receive the error message, but the accessory did not "recognize" my ipod. My next step will be going to the Apple store with an appointment, seeing what they say.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, all of my music is on my ipod, which I purchased after my entire cd collection was stolen last year. Thanks in advance.
    ~Bryan

Apple does not guarantee Alpine compatibility. Does Alpine guarantee Apple iPod compatibility? If so, that's who you should be speaking with.

  • Charging New iTouch in car adaptor

I recently bought a 2009 Subaru Forester and got the iPod addon option. So, this past week I bought a brand new iTouch and plugged it in. The functionality seems to work, but it says as I plug it in, that it is NOT charging. So I looked up the documentation that came with the Forester, and it says right in it, that when you have the ipod connected it will be charging.
I also borrowed a friends dock station with RCA outlets so I could plug it into my home stereo, works fine functionally, but it also says it is NOT charging.
The USB connector I got with the iTouch works fine for charging, so I don't understand why the brand new car connection does not charge my iTouch. Any thoughts?
    Thanks
    -richard

Thanks for the responses, but if true, and I have no reason to doubt you, WOW, what a bummer - I think I paid over $150 for the iPod adapter in this NEW car... and it says right in the documentation that it will charge the device. I guess I will go to the Subaru dealer and see what they say. Also weird is I when to the Apple Store yesterday and asked two sales reps, and neither one knew the answer, and neither said the firewire issue. Why would Apple do such a thing?
I did buy a Griffin attachable battery and charger, and it came with a car and wall charger.

  • Car adaptor to play mp3

I was just wondering if there is an accessory for the X so I can play my mp3 from my phone in the car.
    Thanks!

thats what I mean, does verizon have such a thing so i can do that..(i.e. fm transmitter for an ipod or mp3 player) I had my mp3 player and transmitter stolen and was hoping I could just use my X as my mp3 player in the car.

  • IPhone Car Adaptor

I have a Griffin iTrip FM transmitter, and it plays on my mp3s and ipods but it won't for my iPhone and won't play in my friends car that has a direct auxillary input. Is there an FM transmitter out there that will play the music on the iPhone?

  • Car Electrical system affected by car adaptor

In two differnent cars (Saturn and GM), the electrical system went dead while driving with the IPOD charger plugged in.  A TomTom GPS was also plugged in but there was no comparable problems on their website.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like an issue with the charger.

  • New iPod nano shut off by car adaptor

Husband bought me a new iPod nano. We just got a scorchue iPod adapter to use in the car a few months ago. We use it and my. New nano will go to sleep and turn off. However if we use our iPhone 3GS if it goes into sleep mode it still plays. So I have to keep waking up the  nano and it's basically useless. Any suggestions?

I had this problem when I started.  But there is a support item that says your headphones are not completely plugged in.  Once they are plugged in all the way this problem goes away.

  • Why wont my 4th generation ipod touch charge using a wall or car adaptor.

I recently received a brand new 8gb 4th generation ipod touch for christmas. It used to work fine and charge fine. Now it can only be charged in a computer. I have tried multiple adapters and charger cables and nothing works. It has nothing wrong with it other then this problem, no screen cracks, and everything else works fine. In comparison, my old 2nd generation ipod touch has a cracked screen and cant play music because the headphone jack is busted, and can still be charged just fine using a wall socket, car, or computer. I have restored it twice now to no avail. It is updated to most recent software as well. Please help me.

If you restored to factory defaults/new iPod then it appears you have a hardware problem. Look carefully at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, broken or cracked plastic pieces.
An appountment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store would be in order.

  • Trouble charging with car adaptor...

I bought a charging adaptor that plugs into the automobile electric plug. The adaptor has a USB plug at the end. I am able to connect USB cables from our phones to the adaptor and they will charge; but, when I connect our iPod Touch, the Touch does not charge. We ran the power all the way down, but the Touch indicator would not move past the red charge screen. It does charge when plugged into the Mac, though.
The adaptor says: Input, DC 12V–24V; output, DC 5V +-5%; Max., 1000mA.
Is there a reason why the Touch will not charge but the phones will?

I Just bought a a Griffin Charger from a Target.... And it fully doesnt work With my iPhone 6 and 5S.
Apple please tell us what works. It's BS that we constantly have to change our gear, but that's the least of the problems. we need to know what works.
Then take it back to Target.  And you'r not talking to Apple here.  Use the Contact Us link at the bottom of this page.
And to be honest, all I use is a 12V adaptor, that converts the 'cigarette lighter' to a standard two prong outlet.  Which means that I can use any normal charger, period.  It also has a USB slot, so whether my cable is a USB cable or not, I can plug in and charge my devices.

  • Lumia 920 Wireless Charging plate car adaptor?

    Hello guys,
I really want to connect my wireless charging plate to my car. Maybe convert it to USB since USB car adapter can be found everywhere. Anyone knows where I can buy such converter?
    Thank you.

I believe that the corded connection from the wireless charging plate is a 2.5mm connection, and thus won't connect to USB and therefore there are no accessories. 2mm chargers and 2.5mm charger connections are usually the Nokia proprietary technology, so unless you solder one yourself, I doubt you will find what you are looking for, my friend.
