Car bluetooth no longer able to play podcasts through stereo interface after 8.1
I have a 2012 Scion Tc (with the pioneer touchscreen audio interface) and an Ipad Air. Since upgrading to 8.1, I have lost all functionality to choose and play podcasts (and specifically podcasts, music works fine) through my car interface. I can navigate my selection of podcast to play but when I pick the one I want nothing happens. If you manually use the podcast app on the ipad and press play, it works fine but cannot navigate to say the next podcast in line. You must select everything through the Ipad, which is not possible when driving.
It appears that the printer is OK and is on the network. Eventually you may want to set a static IP address for it, but let's get things working first.
The first thing I would try would be to reset the printing system on all the problem Macs:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System.
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
If this does not do it there may be something going on with the router. I have a few ideas if this is required. Let me know.

updated my mac to mountain lion 10.7.8.3 and now my app store, mail or facetime won't open. Also, I am not longer able to play videos through firefox. I tried downloading the combo for mountain lion and it refuses to install saying that I need to see developer. Whenever I try to open my appstore, mail or facetime it says that the programmes need to be installed and might not be compatible with this version of mac operating system. Can anyone help me?
It's not a bad install of Mountain Lion. I've had the same thing happen to me, but it affected not only Mail, but a variety of other programs including iPhoto and MS Office, where I had to delete preferences, caches, and reinstall the OS as well as the program itself. I'm still having issues with Mail, so I've gone to another program.
Everything was fine upon the initial install. I restarted my iMac about two weeks after the install, and that's when the issues began to happen. I've reinstalled Mountain Lion twice, but the same issues arise.
As I mentioned above, you'll need to figure out which preferences are causing the issue, then reinstall the program, as a fresh reinstallation will do you no good unless you wipe the drive completely.

How to play podcasts through car?
Now that they've moved podcasts out of the iTunes module, I can no longer set up a playlist through iTunes. I discovered this morning that I also cannot play podcasts through my car iPod system. Anyone have a fix for this?

Do you have an original iPhone or a 3G model?
On the original model only the Apple headphones can be fully inserted into the headphone port unless you use an adaptor, that may be your problem. -
Hi, Although I had itunes downloaded on my pc & been using for a while now, today I've been prompted to download itunes again. This has been successfull except that 65 songs that I had previously in my library are now no longer able to play, the message informes me that the original files could not be found. Yet these songs are still on my ipod after being syncronised and I can play them on my ipod. Please advise how I can find the original files on my pc.

CarolI would copy over the entire thing if you have room. With iTunes 10.4 though, you can download any previous iTunes purchases you have made in the past with your current iTunes account. While in iTunes, look at the left hand side of your screen and select "Purchases" and look at the bottom right corner of the screen and select "Download Previous Purchases". If you have an iPhone, iPod and/or iPad...you can do the same thing from each device. Nice new feature...just remember that those ripped CDs need a back-up!!! Enjoy...

Play iPOd through stereo while connected to power line?
I have an iPod touch and I bought an adaptor to be able to play music through my stereo amplifyer. It set up runs my battery very fast. Cant I play the iPod through the stereo while I have the iPod also connected to the power line that I use to charge the devise?

I have not been able to play music or podcasts when my phone is plugged into my iHome. It did so before the iOS update. It does the same thing with my JBL at work.
Yes with some docks and car systems but I do not remember the specific devices. Sometimes and iOS update breaks compatibility.
Try:
- Go to the dock manufacturers and see what they say. Also see if there is a firmware available for the dock
- Reset the dock
- Sometimes this works:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

I am unable to sign-in to the Password Books App after installing IOS 7 and the app is no longer in iTunes , published by Razor Apps, LLC, have all my passwords in this app.
WORKAROUND: In iTunes, select the podcast files and hit CMD-I (show info). Set the genre to something other than "Podcast", and in the Options tab, set the Media Type to Music. You can do this to the files that are on your iPhone. If you do this to the files on your computer, they will no longer show up as Podcasts - they'll be mixed in with music files in your library. You can then put these podcasts into playlists on the iPhone, and they'll show up on the phone once it's disconnected. You might need to fool around with this a bit - try it more than once, etc. - I had some podcasts not show up on the iPhone until after a SECOND connect-and-disconnect operation with the computer. Others here might do some experimenting and figure out a smoother set of instructions that will always work - but this is a starting point.
Note that I ALWAYS "manage music and video files manually" - I NEVER "sync" music and video. Your mileage may vary.
Apple - please listen: The handling of podcasts in iOS 7 is not a feature, it's a bug. As you can tell from the comments here, MANY people need to manage podcasts as if they were music files (and sometimes, THEY ARE!!!!). The arbitrary decision to treat podcasts differently is WRONG - an audio file is an audio file. I don't need to buy one TV to watch sports and one TV to watch news - because video is video. Get it? If you want to provide a Podcasts app, that's fine, and anyone who wants to use it can do so. But don't RUIN the previous, excellent functionality that we had before, when it's completely unnecessary and a colossal pain (not to mention insult) to your customers. And in some cases, it's a serious driving safety issue.
I'll be watching this space to see if others can refine the basic workaround that I've found.
UPDATE: It appears that changing the genre is unnecessary, only the "Media Type". It's probably best to do this only to the copies on the iPhone, so the files in your computer's library are not altered. -

I am having issues with being able to send videos through text message after the update
I have the motorola droid 4 and after the recent update, I am no longer able to change my video settings on my phone. I need to be able to change the quality to low to be able to send as mms, however the option is no longer there? I have went through settings and nothing gives me the option to record a video and send it through text. error says that the video can not be attached because it is too large. can someone please assist me. The update was 4.1.2 version.
I have the Droid 4, and the 4.1.2 OS; when I open the camera and switch to video, then tap the gear for settings, I can choose HD+ (1080), all the way down to 320x240 resolution (5 different choices for resolution)
I can then go to that video in my gallery, and I have the share option there... how long is the video you are trying to send? What is the total size of the file? Perhaps the receiving party's phone cannot receive the video file? -
Airport Express Isn't Playing Music Through Stereo
I have recently purchased an Airport Express. I have managed to connect it to our home wi-fi but when i want to play music through Airplay through my stereo, no sound comes out. The option to play music through Airport is available on both iMac and Iphone and the button turns blue when selected.
Really need help on this.

Car Bluetooth no longer works iOS 8.3
Since the latest software update and Siri now automatically sending "Hey Siri" calls through the handset speaker...I can no longer safely use the internal Bluetooth system. I have to wait for the call to connect, then take my hand off the wheel and look at the iPhone to tap "Car Multi Media" to get the call through my internal car speakers! Dangerous and a lawsuit waiting to happen!!!!
Oh man, thanks for posting this as I was going nuts. Same, when I say, "Hey Siri, Call ...." it say's calling through the iPhone Speaker even though I'm connected to Bluetooth.
EXTREMELY DANGEROUS because I then have to switch over to Mazda (in my case) for Bluetooth.
This is definitely and 8.3 bug as it worked fine in 8.1 (I passed 8.2).
Please fix. -
My Quicktime 7 is No longer able to play HD trailers online, or D/L them

OK, so, I have always been an avid user of my Quicktime Pro to watch the HD (720p & 1080p) off-line. Actually it was the only way to watch them. Recently, any trailer on the trailers.apple.com site, Will NOT play or d/l when I click on "Watch now in HD" -- I get an error of: Error 47: Invalid URL. ()
When instead I copy the URL and open a Quicktime window and select, "Open URL" I get:
Error 2048: Couldn't open the file [trailer-URL-here] because it is not a file that Quicktime understands.
This has never happened before.
HOWEVER: When I manually copy and paste that same URL into my browser (Any browser) I Am able to watch that same video in the browser. Basically, If I hadn't done the extra work of copying & pasting the URL, I would Never had been able to watch the HD trailer...
Here's an example HD page:

I was beginning to think it may have been related to the virgin media *super hub* (not what i would call it lol) but it would appear that that is not the case as there have been no reports on the vm forums of this problem.
I have just tested it on my vista home premium laptop X86 and that has the same problem as well.

I try to play the Itunes song I purchased. I have a new computer, another internet provider since I purchased the songs, and have switched to a new internet browser Internet Explorer 8. I keep getting a dialog box saying "this computer is not authorized to play the song. would you like to authorize it?
An old Apple ID popps up and I am asked for the old passwork which I no longer remember. I successfully changed to a new Apple ID and password.
when I enter that, a new dialog box appears, saying "this computer is already authorized." When I try to play the song the first box appears again,

After updates were installed, we are no longer able to play our games on facebook, why???
The same apps we have been playing forever no longer will open or run. They just sit at the opening screen and don't progress. I'm not very computer savvy. I have gone back to using Internet Explorer for the time being, but I do not like IE and it runs too slow. So any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Who knows why? Between a Flash update and 2 Firefox updates in the same week, plus Mozilla trying to get the new version of Firefox out the door, my guess is all of the above.
Either stick with IE for those games for the time being or revert to Firefox 3.6.13 and Flash 10.2 r102 until Adobe and Mozilla can figure whose product is causing all these problems - and fix it.
