Car charger no longer works!

I got the iPhone 3GS for fathers day and everything was great. Until I decided to plug it into my car Charger... the phone then told me that it was not compatible. I was shocked! Every apple iPod or device that used that same connector worked just fine till the 3GS. Is this a Power consumption issue?

  • XPlod car adapter no longer works after installing OS 4.0

I have a Sony car stereo with the Xplod adapter that allows me to hook up my iPod to my stereo and control it from there. After the recent update to OS 4.0 this no longer works.
Now when I plug it in; the iPod stops playing sound through it's speaker, but I get no control through the Stereo and nothing plays. It just seems to freeze.
This has worked perfectly for 2years, and now it's dead. Anyone have any suggestions or fixes?

I had this same issue after upgrading to iOS 4.0. I could play my iPod touch to the xPLOD through the USB cable but could not control it with the xPLOD, and there were a few other issues too.
I tried the recommendation to power off the iPod Touch, then connect it to the xPLOD.
I pressed the top and home buttons until "slide to power off" appeared, which I did.
I connected the iPod Touch to the xPLOD and set the xPLOD source to USB.
The iPod started to wake up. The xPLOD timed out with a "No device found" message while the iPod was waking up.
When the iPod woke up, the xPLOD detected it and displayed "Reading device", then, everything worked fine.
    YMMV...

  • Car Charger Just stops working?

well my Griffin car charger has just stopped working with the 4G phone. Still works on my 3GS. The phone still charges with the wall plug that it came with. Anyone else hear of this weird one???

yup that was it.. The bumper has a little plastic piece that stooped the charger from fully seating... So I had to perform surgery on my $29.00 Apple bumper so the accessory that are made for it fit.. Nice...

  • My FM transmitter and car charger doesn't work with my new iPod Touch.

As stated in the subject, when I connect my new iPod Touch to the FM transmitter and/or car charger that I was using with my iPod video, it doesn't work. When I connect the transmitter alone, nothing happens and when I connect the car charger, a screen appears that says something like, "charging not supported with this device"
Has anyone experienced these issues? Or does anyone know of a solution???

I bought the new iPod Touch 3rd Gen 32Gb model on the day they were announced. This is my first iPod, but my wife already owned an iPod classic. I tried the car charger that we had bought for her older iPod and I too got a message something like, "charging not supported with this accessory".
I saw the previous response and went out to shop for a new adapter. I found a Belkin kit that included the auto 12v power socket adapter that one can plug a USB cable into. The unit came with a USB cable that plugs into the iPod docking port. The kit also came with an AC home adapter with one USB port. My newer iPod charges just fine with both of these adapters.
So I would agree with the previous post. The newer units need the newer USB charging adapter rather than the older basic 12v adapter.

  • Car charger no longer compatible

I recently upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.0. Now my car charger is no longer compatible. What happened? How can I buy another when I don't know if I'll have the same problem?

  • My iphone 5 charge no longer works

As soon as I upgraded to 7, my APPLE chargers no longer worked for my iPhone 5. What's going on?

Hi, I had the exact same problems on my 4S for about a month. I tried all of the previous rememdies without success. It appears if the contacts of the docking port are dirty/corroded this will prevent you speakers from working. Who would have thought of that!!
I finially got mine to work by cleaning the contacts on the docking port with a tootpick, a small piece of paper towel and a drop of window cleaner. I used  the following method:
    Firstly turn off your phone.
Take the toothpick and gently clean away all foriegn bodies and corrosion products from in and around the contacts, blowing hard into the dock port to remove all loose particals.
Take a small piece of paper towel and dampened it with window cleaner. Using the tooth pick to push the towel into the port, wiping out the contacts and port. Do this a couple of times using a clean piece of towel each time.
Finally blow hard into the port and visual check for any lint, towel etc remaining around the contacts.
Turn on your phone and check the function by using the volume buttons on the side. If you get the ringer volume appear with the level displayed your speaker should now be functioning correctly.
I hope this is helpful and this fixes your phone too!

  • Iphone 3gs os 4, car usb no longer works

I've got a 3gs and upgraded to the os4. My 2010 Prius has a built in USB interface that has worked fine for the past couple of months. Since the upgrade to os4, the usb in the car has worked for just a few seconds. starts to play and then stops and the usb interface tells me it can't work from the device. when i plug in the usb device i get the message that the device doesn't work, but i've always gotten that. Has to do with the usb signal interference etc. I saw that others are having this new 0s4 problem. One suggestion was to reboot the iphone while it was connected to the usb. that worked for a second, but same problem. also, now the usb won't even charge the iphone. I also reset all of the general settings. didn't work. I can use the bluetooth through my car, but i really would rather use the usb. any other fixes out there?

Good idea on posting it in the feedback. I'm on that.
So.. now the mystery continues. After doing the full reboot while it was attached to my car via usb this morning, it worked for a second and then stopped again. I rebooted again and it didn't work. Again. NOthing. THen I went in and took a shower. Came back, started my car and it worked. It has now worked for several hours in a row even after starting and stopping the car, taking the phone with me. So, perhaps it's just a persistence thing. Try it a few times. Turn the car on and off, take a shower... seems to have worked!

  • Ever since I downloaded the iOS 6 update, my car stereo no longer works like it did before

My Pioneer car stereo worked exactly like it was supposed to with my iPhone 4s. By syncing to the car stereo, I could listen to all of my music on my iPhone and receive Pandora in the car.  Since I downloaded the iOS 6 update two weeks ago, my car stereo has basically become inert, no longer syncs to my iPhone and has turned my expensive car stereo into a glorified CD player.  I googled this problem first and noticed many other people had the exact same problem that I have.  Since I can't undo the iOS 6 update (****, I wish I could), is there anyone out there with a similar problem and is there anything to remedy this problem. I will never download an Apple update again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would love to see an update on issues like this.
I have the pioneer avh-3400bh.  Prior to iOS6 on my iphone 4, everything worked as it should.  Upon updating to ios6 on the 4, and now also with the iphone 5, my head unit will play BT audio, but it receives no track/data information.  Using USB, I can no longer use my phone to browse songs, I can only use the head unit control.  the phones tell me that an accessory is connected and won't allow me to do anything.  Same for the pandora app

  • Car Bluetooth no longer works iOS 8.3

Since the latest software update and Siri now automatically sending "Hey Siri" calls through the handset speaker...I can no longer safely use the internal Bluetooth system.  I have to wait for the call to connect, then take my hand off the wheel and look at the iPhone to tap "Car Multi Media" to get the call through my internal car speakers!  Dangerous and a lawsuit waiting to happen!!!!

Oh man, thanks for posting this as I was going nuts. Same, when I say, "Hey Siri, Call ...." it say's calling through the iPhone Speaker even though I'm connected to Bluetooth.
EXTREMELY DANGEROUS because I then have to switch over to Mazda (in my case) for Bluetooth.
This is definitely and 8.3 bug as it worked fine in 8.1 (I passed 8.2).
    Please fix.

  • HT201401 since iSO 7.02 update bluetooth with my car is no longer working at all. also can no longer access my mail! the browser is turned off and I can not turn it back on!!!!!

last week my phone was automatically updated after a trip to Europe, now I can no longer access gmail because the browser capability for cookies has been turned off and I can NOT get it back on. Before the trip bluetooth was on partially working with my car and now since the newest update works no more in any form. Anyone else having these problems? Need help!!

As far as automatic update, the iOS cannot be updated without user intervention, so it could not have been automatically updated.
You need to provide more information about your mail. Does this mean you cannot access the Mail app, you cannot download mail, or what? Not sure why you cannot access the cookies setting in Safari. Go to Settings>Safari>Block Cookies>set to what  you want.
Problems with 3rd party Bluetooth devices, such as car audio, etc., generally has to do with vehicle manufacturers not providing updates to match the current Bluetooth stacks that are found in today's phones. You can go into the phone and remove the pairing for the car, and then go into car settings and remove the iphone. Then put both devices back into pairing mode and attempt to connect them again. • Charger no longer working

My Tungsten E2 keeps a charge very well but it has been increasingly difficult to re-charge it.  Until two days ago, the lightning bolt would only appear when I waited until the power bar was down to around 25%.  But now, I cannot get the charger to work at all.  I've stopped using the Palm so that it can keep a little charge but I am getting concerned about losing several years of history.
I do not have a USB connection (and would like to know where to buy one so that I can at least back up).
I've tried soft reset - no lightning bolt.
    Suggestions, please?
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

    Hello!
This either means the charger went bad or the PalmOS has issues reading the battery.  Could try another charger but if that does not work out then first hotsync your device to backup your data and then hard reset the device.  After the hard reset, try the charger out PRIOR to hotsyncing to make sure software isnt the problem.
If still nogo then my best guess would be the battery could need a repalcement but should try another charger to take the cheaper option first.

  • Car charger does not work

Sorry, but I will only speak German. That is why my problem I write in German.
    Hallo erst mal,

Hi i live in Germany, i will try in german
Ich hatte auch denn selber problem.Du must zum T-com Laden und einen Kfz Ladekabel von der firma GRIFFIN Kaufen (€19,99). Es geht dann mit der Iphone 3g.
    Viel spass Bob

  • IPhone no longer works with car charger

I bought this car charger and it worked for months, and when I got back from a road trip I got the latest iPhone OS update and now the phone tells me that "Charging is not supported with this accessory."

Did the charger include the "made for iPhone" certification when purchased including for the 3GS?
Your iPod Classic can be charged via USB or Firewire. The original iPhone can be charged via USB or Firewire, but the FireWire pins were removed from the iPhone's dock connector after the original iPhone which is also the same with all iPod models now. If your car charger charges via FireWire, this wouldn't work with the 3GS regardless. If a 3rd party device does not include the "made for iPhone" certification, this doesn't mean it won't work with the iPhone but having the certification ensures it - unless the device has failed.
If there were something wrong with your iPhone, it wouldn't be charging when connected to your computer or to the wall charger either.
If the charger includes the "made for iPhone" certification, contact the manufacturer. If not, purchase one that does.
