Car mode sv display brightness

HI i am using car mode on my N8 belle Fp1. but regardless that i use the ``light on`` app to keep the screen light on and i select the brightness to full and even set ``situations`` to have the brightness to full when me ``car`` situation is set. ``car mode`` always turn the lighting/brightness down after a minute or two.That would be very nice at night time but is anoying during day driving and especially with sun glasses.``Car mode`` offer no setting to cancel this behavior. At least if it would thake the ambiant light sensor readings in acount it would would be helpfull.In the next update it would be nice to adress that issue.

So finnally, I found a work around, since I set ``lights on`` to always ask, when detecting the charger, I found out that it will only apply on the top application or home screen pending witch ever come first. The ``lights on`` querry pop up MSG appear at charger connection and before my CAR mode starts. So that's the Car Mode overrides settings that take over and only the ``keep display from blocking`` remain. Then it will revert to it's dimm setting without locking. If I reset My car charger off then back on after Car Mode is up then the display will remain full bright as intended. So let say that I can live with it.

  • Nokia Car Mode on N8 - Bluetooth disconnects when ...

    After recently upgrading to Belle, I installed Nokia Car Mode because it is what I had been looking forward to the most. However it simply disconnects the Bluetooth connection to my car's audio system a few seconds (maybe 5 seconds) after I enter the Music module.
    Steps to recreate:
    Start car (1999 BMW M3 running DICE Mediabridge 1500 connected to CD43 head-unit). Car's Bluetooth mode is on and car is discoverable.
    Launch Nokia Car Mode on Nokia N8
    Pair phone with car using the Bluetooth pairing button on the launch screen. Pairing is successful so continue by pressing the Start Car Mode button.
    Press on the Music button to enter the Music module. Music attempts to start playing automatically. The display on the head-unit says "PLAYING", but no sound from the speakers and then the BT connection ends in about 5 seconds.
    Thinking that perhaps my old BT pairing info might be saved/corrupted and not usable with the new Belle firmware, I performed a complete reset and re-installed Belle using a tool whose named I should not mention, but no luck even with a pristine build.
    If I uninstall Car Mode from my phone, I can connect to my car and play music just fine. If you have navigation running simultaneously, the navigation prompts get routed through the car audio by virtue of the music player's streaming. However as soon as I re-install Car Mode, the same problem begins and remains until I uninstall it again. (If you don't uninstall Car Mode from your phone, it will launch itself automatically when it detects a BT connection with a car using the relevant BT profile.)
    Here's another observation: During the 5 seconds that the phone has not yet disconnected, the Music Player's progress bar moves at a rate of about 1 second forward for every 5 seconds elapsed. So it is as if Car Mode introduces a performance issue to the playback.
    So now I am living with the way things were in the Anna days: I can play music and navigation audio through my car just fine, but I really wish I had the extreme convenience that Nokia Car Mode provides (when it works as designed).
    Solved!

    I just installed Car Mode on my Belle-equipped N8. I have two serious complaints (not sure if this is the best place to post, but here goes
    a) (Really inconvenient!) My speed dials DONT WORK! If I press and hold "2" in regular mode, I speed-dial home. In Car Mode, I just see the "2" appear, and it keeps beeping the longer I hold it! There does not appear to be a way to use speed-dial in Car Mode, which is a #FAIL (in my opinion.) You ought to be able to somehow configure this.
    b) I love Internet Radio. When you select Music, you go right into the music player and can never select Internet Radio. You ought to be able to add other audio applications to the Music button.
    Thanks for listening!

  • Cannot adjust display brightness via F-keys nor Preferences

    After updating Mavericks to 10.9.4, I cannot adjust the display brightness. Using the F1-2 keys will show the brightness icon that usually pops up. However, it's stuck and nothing happens when I press either F1 or F2 (the brightness keys).
    I tried going into Preferences and adjust the brightness from there. "Automatically adjust brightness" is not checked and when I drag the slider, it slides back to where it initially was.
    How can I fix this problem?
    Thank you in advance,
    Filip

  • T440s Turn off auto display brightness

    I'm trying to turn off the auto brightness on my T440 but nothing I found so far is working.
    I edited all power plans and it turned off the Auto display brightness in windows 8.1, and i also disabled the "Display Power Saving Technology" in the graphics control panel under Power.
    It's dimming even with cable plugged in.  If the screen consists of mostly black images, it dims.. if there is white, it brightens.
    Any help how I could fix this is appreciated!  I have latest everything, all drivers, etc.  I have latest System Update 5 update manager which downloaded and installed everything possible.

    I seem to have fixed it.. but not sure what it was, I did a few things. I did another update which downloaded a Dependency manager which was critical.. and I also did a safe mode start which failed to start and nearly bricked the machine.. only a CD was able to revive the boot process.. it would boot to a blank screen with no start options even available.

  • Car mode incomming MSG pop up

    when receiving new msg while car mode is running, a nice big pop up offer the option to close/open or call back the number. The openned displayed text MSG is in bigger adaped font but what is nicer is that the msg reader is automatically triggered. Hoever those pop up will not apear while navigating with drive even if started from car mode.Since car mode is already altering the drive menu to replace the exit button by the car mode button I am sure that overlaying those pop up while navigating could be done.I hope  that the car mod development team still supportinf future updates. nokia N8 belle FP1

  • Automatically adjust display brightness via Terminal / Pretty good solution

    This hint is for all of you who experience any problem with the adjustment of the display brightness.
    *Short version*
    After a cold and/or warm start, it sometimes happens that the brightness was changed by the system itself to its dim power saver setting or maximum value and sometimes - what a big surprise - remains as it has been configured.
    I had spotted plenty of articles about this phenomenon, but none of them yielded a solution. I then decided to solve this problem by going the pragmatically way and use some kind of software which dims the display to my preferred setting. And the winner is: brightness.
    This tiny program works perfect and you will love its benefit by using it in terminal - yes, brightness is a command line utility. On top of this, brightness is able to control different displays, internal and external. The clou: beside using the precompiled binary you can also download the source code here, modify it to make the program fit your needs and then compile it using Xcode.
    1. Installation
    Download a precompiled version of the command line utility brightness here and extract the binary to your desired path (e.g. /usr/bin).
    2. Usage
    "brightness -l -v" dumps the current display attributes (-v for verbose mode) while "brightness 0.5" modifies the brightness of the main display to half of its max value and "brightness -m 1 1" let a second display become shiny. Just play little bit around.
    3. Automatically launch
    Simply create a .plist file and drop it, for example, in ~/Library/LaunchAgents. Or make use of an AppleScript or a Terminal Script to let it launch.
    That's it. Comments are welcome.
    *Long version*
    It seems to be, that the adjustment of the display brightness of an iMac and MacBook/Pro (maybe also other models are affected) drives a life of its own. After a cold and/or warm start, it sometimes happens that the brightness was changed by the system itself to its dim power saver setting or maximum value and sometimes - what a big surprise - remains as it has been configured.
    I had spotted plenty of articles about this phenomenon, but only found terms like "Did you already disabled the ambient light sensor", "Did you already reset the PRAM?", "Did you already reset the NVRAM?", "Did you already…BLAH". Far from it, all of these tips have one thing in common: none of them yielded a solution. As a last resort, I thought, it was a good idea to install 10.6 from the scratch just to find out that the above mentioned phenomenon occurs right after a few days of using OS X.
    I then decided to solve this problem by going the pragmatically way and use some kind of software which dims the display to my preferred setting. There are a few applications to do this, but always it was necessary to drag a slider or type in a value to dim the display, so none of them allowed an automatic configuration. No, I am not a very sophisticated person, I only prefer to use software which is simply well-thought-out.

    3. Automatically launch
    Sure, OS X provides different ways to launch a program automatically. If you are an enthusiast, feel free to use the one you prefer and stop reading, because you are already finished. If you are not that familiar to OS X take the next step as an advice.
    An easy way to trigger OS X launching a program automatically is to add the desired program to your Login Items. But, in this case, it will not work the easy way, because we have to launch a so called classic command line utility with a given option. It is not like starting Mail or iCal, which appears as typical applications to OS X. You must start brightness via Terminal by typing "brightness 0.5" (without quotes) to modify the main display brightness to half of its max.
    We now use a Launch Agent. Just create a .plist file, e.g. com.brightness.plist, with your favorite text editor. For the lazy ones here comes the template (simply copy and paste):
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
    <key>Disabled</key>
    <false/>
    <key>Label</key>
    <string>com.brightness</string>
    <key>ProgramArguments</key>
    <array>
    <string>/usr/bin/brightness</string>
    <string>.5</string>
    </array>
    <key>RunAtLoad</key>
    <true/>
    </dict>
    </plist>
    Save the file in ~/Library/LaunchAgents, if you want brightness to be executed everytime you log in.
    You could also use an AppleScript. Copy and paste this code "do shell script "brightness 0.5"" (without the leading and closing quotes) to a new Script. Then choose Save As and enable the Option to make it Execute only. Now add the Script to your Login Items.
    Another option is to use a Terminal Script. Copy and paste this code
    #!/bin/bash
    /usr/bin/brightness 0.5
    exit 0
    and save it as, for example, brightness.sh. Make the Script executeable and add it to your Login Items.
    That's it. Comments are welcome.

    Thanks. Works great. I made a ScriptBundle and a User Agent (launchd) . So if someone sets the display brightness to maximum, it automaticaly corrects it at next login.
    The ScriptBundle contains your mentoined command line utility and the following applescript:
    do shell script quoted form of (POSIX path of (path to resource "brightness")) & " 0.7"
    Be aware of the space in " 0.7" or whatever value you have set.

  • Tecra W50-A-114 - blinking display - brightness go up and down

    Good day,
    +First of all sorry for my english.+
    I have issues with display on my tecra w50-a-114. *Display sometimes (ca in 5min. period) blink (brightness go on 100% and then back to the current settings).*
    I dont know whats happened. I am not aware that I changed some settings. I check all power management settings, but every setting is in my opinion alright.
    Have any of you Idea what's happened?
    _Thank for all suggestions._

    Hi
    I guess the display brightness level changes no matter if the notebook is connected to the AC adaptor or battery mode? Is this correct?
    Usually the function keys FN + F7 and FN + F8 increases and decreases the computers brightness.
    But I dont think that theses function could be related to your issue.
    To me it sounds a little bit like display panel hardware problem but this is only my personal opinion

  • Prevent x-server setting display brightness

    Hi,
    i have a laptop with a ati radeon hd 4200 and i'm using the catalyst driver. I have also laptop-mode-tools installed to adjust the display brightness which works fine but every time the x-server is started the brightness is set to 100% so the brighness adjustment of laptop-mode-tools is quite useless, because it is set before the x-server is started.
    My question is, is there a way to prevent the x-server setting the display brightness?

    I have neither gnome nor another DE installed, just X with dwm. It seems that the brightness is set by X. The workaround i am using now is
    if [ "$(< /sys/devices/platform/smapi/ac_connected)" = 0 ]; then
    xbacklight -set 17%
    else
    xbacklight -set 40%

  • The iPhone needs a car mode

    I'm very pleased so far with my Iphone except for one problem. I always would use my old Ipod in the car every day, and it was easy to use, just plug the aux in to the headphone jack and play it. Switching from song to song if I needed was easy, I just had to press right on the well or left, no need to look at the actual ipod whild doing this, and pausing was just as easy.
    Problem:
    But with the Iphone its very difficult to actually control the ipod features while driving. The buttons are not easy to hit if your trying to concentrate on driving and not finding the buttons, pausing is just as difficult.
    Solution:
    On the contrary it seems like an easy fix for apple. Just add in a car mode for the ipod functionality.
    Skipping songs: Simply touch somewhere on the screen and drag to the left to skip back, and drag to the right to skip forward. This would effectively eliminate the problem of having to look at the iphone to find the skip button when your driving.
    Pausing/Playing: I'm sure someone could think of a good tapping method for this, or maybe dragging the up or down would pause and stop.
    It just seems to me that using the ipod functions in the car while driving is actually dangerous if you want to switch songs, pause, play and whatnot because it requires looking at the phone. (im sure some peoples solution is to just use a playlist, but thats really not ideal if you are tired of a song, or just need to pause for a moment.)

    I just purchased an install the Alpine CDA-9886 car audio receiver in my car, with the KCE-411i iPod Adapter. The 9886 has iPod controls built in and works with my iPhone. You just use the actual buttons on the receiver, rather than the phone, to pick your songs, playlist, volume, pause, play, etc.

  • When I plug my Droid Incredible 2 into a car charger the phone is now permanently in"Car Mode" and won't get out. I heard that Droid will fix this, but it hasn't happened.  Does anyone know how to fix i

    I have a Droid Incredible 2 phone.  I bought  car charger and ever since I have used it, the phone thinks it is in "car mode" even when the phone is in my home, my purse,...I sets to speaker and I can not hear the phone ring.  It freezes on "car mode".  I heard that Droid is supposed to be fixing the problem, but nothing has happened yet.  Is anyone else having this problem, and does anyone at Verizon know when/if this will be fixed.  If not, I expect a new phone from Verizon.

    there are two ways, usually if u restart the phone it will reset, but the other is going to your system and shut it off manually...

  • The display brightness on my macbook pro is not working

    I just bought a macbook pro in June and the display brightness keys are not working, nor is there a scale I can find in the system preferences to adjust the lighting level across the screen. Why is that and how do I fix it?

    Go to System Preferences>Displays. You can adjust brightness there. Also make sure that the "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as function keys" are unchecked in the Keyboard preferences.

  • Dimming Display Brightness to Zero

    Hello All,
    I have been having a problem with the display brightness adjustment for a long time. Basically, the display of my 17" 1GHz G4 cannot be dimmed to black. From the System Preferences the display brightness can be lowered with the slider. In the final third however dragging the slider further to the left not only does not reduce the brightness it actually slightly increase it, and the display start to flicker.
    Any ideas what could be the cause?

    That model doesn't support dimming the display brightness to zero, except through Energy Saver (which may not work with all third party USB devices), or a screen saver that has a picture that shows nothing but black. Some third party hacks dim the display, but they are not necessarily that reliable.
    Only Apple's notebook displays dim to full black.
