Car stereo question

Hi I have an aftermarket head unit installed in my car. For some weird reason the sound coming from the head unit is very quiet and can only be barely heard when I turn the unit to Max volume, previously the head unit at 25 would shake my car. Im curious as if best by could check and see what is wrong and how much it would normally cost to check and fix it. The head unit is installed and everything works fine, plays cds movies and gets radio stations, just is not loud. Thank you

sean3574,
Hi to you. It sounds like you've got a wiring issue to the speakers, Possibly even speaker issues. Something's not making the connection properly. Have you stopped by the install bay and talked to one of the techs? I would.

  • Another Car Stereo Question.

I know many of you guys still have problem connecting iphone to car stereo and
there's no clear solution for this issue. But,i'm still posting the question about this. O.k. Here's thing. I've been connecting 2nd gen nano to Alpine Car stereo using Aux cable with dock connector. But, Iphone does not work with this cable due to different pin layout.
    So My Questions are:
Will Apple Universal Dock solve this problem?
Is there any cable or connector that changes pin layout?

The 30 pin connectors are not compatible with the iPhone when it pertains to transfering data like music. It will charge your phone but will not play music.
I have a Premier Pioneer deck and tried the 30 pin connection since the deck is compatible with iPods. However, it would not work. The only solution is to take advantage of your auxilary port and connect it to the headphones jack.
I do have to add that I had to grind away the plastic so that it would fit in the iPhone's headphone port. Only Apple would create the best phone out there and then neglect to allow us to use it like an iPod. Sigh.

  • IOS6 bluetooth connection with car stereo

With my iPhone 4S running iOS5, my after-market car stereo bluetooth was able to read my song name, artist name, ect. Now that I upgraded to iOS6 my Kenwood receiver cannot read this data while connected via bluetooth. Since the data can't be read, the steering wheel control to search/skip a song forward or back also no longer works. I tested the car stereo last night with an iOS5 phone and it worked correctly, so I know the problem is related to the bluetooth iOS6.

    Dear Valued Pioneer Customer:
We would like to inform you of the availability of an optional Bluetooth® firmware update (HW05-SW01.27.20) that enables Bluetooth AVRCP control and metadata display from a compatible Pioneer CD or DVD Receiver when used with an iPhone® 5 or iOS 6 device.  If you do not own an iPhone 5 or iOS 6 device, there is no need to install this update.

  • Looking for car stereo recommendation

I would like to buy a new car stereo (budget $200) to connect to my iPod. I will use my existing speakers.
My #1 priority is ease of use.
My #2 priority is display of full info (track name, artist, and, less importantly, album).
    Does anyone have any recommendations?
I thought I would ask here because I'm assuming folks that hang out here are more likely to be sympathetic to the need for ease of use (as opposed to feature lists, power, etc.).

I have pretty much the same question as the OP, so I'll bump this thread.
    Two specifics that I want:
    1. For ease of use, I want to be able to manually adjust radio station (90.1->90.3->90.5, etc). Many of the stereos I see now only seem to have presets and scan.
    2. I normally pick a playlist on my iPod and have it play in shuffle mode. I understand that some car stereos don't support this. I would like one that does.
Double DIN would be cool--direct replacement for what I've got. But they aren't as common as single DIN, and they seem to cost more.

  • IPhone 3G Lack of compatibility with Alpine CDE-9852 car stereo system

So I have a Alpine CDE-9852 car stereo system along with the Alpine iPod adapter in my 1994 Toyota Celica and I've come across a little problem ever since I upgraded to iPhone 3G. See, when I had my 2G iPhone and plugged it in via the dock connector, my car's stereo system played what was playing on my iPhone. When I answered phone calls the music stopped and then continued when the call ended. Most importantly, when I was plugged it, my iPhone charged itself. Everything was great!
When I bought my iPhone 3G though, something changed. My system still plays songs from my iPhone, stop when a call comes in, and continues when the call ends, BUT my phone no longer gets charged! I've tried messing around with the phone, but no luck. So I'm assuming there is a compatibility issue, and I realize a firmware from Alpine is highly unlikely, so my question for you all is: Am I out of luck on this or is it possible that something can be done to allow my 3G to charge via the car's ipod adapter? Also, could Apple solve this issue, by adding more compatibility to the next firmware? I would appreciate any feedback and incite on what can/can't be done. I'm planning to write/call Apple and Alpine to try and get to the bottom of this problem. It's just so disappointing that the old phone charged and the new one doesn't. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

So you were right to assume I transposed the numbers, it is the 9857. Thanks for all the valuable info you have given me so far. Now, here is my question, I have an iPod adapter box, that cost me $100. Now I'm not sure what model number this is (I can find out once I go home this weekend), but I can tell you it is an Alpine iPod adapter box. Its what I used to plug in my iPhone for the past year and a half. I bought this back more than 2 years ago though, so I don't know if affects the 2006 compatibility time period, so possibly you could answer that once I get you the model number. So with the 422i, would it replace the ipod adapter I have now, or just change the cable that goes from the adapter to my iPhone? Also, the website talks about it as though it strictly supports iPods, is it compatibable with my iPhone? Also, will I be able to use an phone features with the new cable.
So with the replacement cable you said it will do 5 volt, which is what I need for the iPhone right? I don't have a 120 gb classic, so I'm all set there. As far as connecting my iPhone, playing music from it, and charging it, is this cable my solution?
Also, so the scoche adapter would solve all these issues as well? Including the needed charging area? Finally, do you know if there are any head units out there by alpine or anyone for that matter that would provide me (an iPhone 3G owner) with all the functionality I've been looking for PLUS phone capabilities? I'm not looking to drop an arm and a leg or get a big screen alpine head unit, but something that would broadcast my calls in the car through the system. I realize this might have to include buying a bluetooth unit, but I figure it might be worth it to get all that capability.
Thanks again Jeddix for all your help.

  • Update caused lack of connectivity to car stereo

Updated my ipod touch to the latest software (4.2) and now my car stereo won't recognize it. I get a incompatible error message from the stereo. Took the car to the dealer, connects with an un-updated iPod, but not the most recent update. Does Apple have a fix for it's fix or am I out of luck?
    Thanks!!

Well, in Apple's defense how do you know that the stereo manufacturer explicitly followed Apple's standard? Just because it once worked doesn't mean they did everything correctly. Do not expect Apple to do anything, it won't happen. Push back on the other side, though you may not have luck there either.
However, if you have a 4G Touch, make sure you're using the iPod cable it came with. I've seen someone say that their 4G Touch will only work in their truck with the supplied cable, not the cable from their 2G Touch. I don't know for sure if Apple changed the internals of the iPod cable, but its not out of the question, and perhaps the iOS update now takes advantage of whatever change Apple may have made to the cable.

  • IPhone 3G works with Alpine iDA-X200 car stereo

I just wanted to drop a quick note letting folks know that my iPhone 3G works flawlessly with my new Alpine iDA-X200 car stereo. Charging and playing music from the iPhone's iPod work well. As an added bonus I can also play Pandora music through my car speakers with the system. I do get the "This is not a supported accessory do you want to enable Airplane mode?" question but I answer "No" and haven't had a problem.
In case anyone is in the market for a new car stereo to work with their iPhone 3g I recommend the Alpine iDA-X100 or X200 head units.

So I went to the store where I bought my Alpine iDA-X200 and explained what was going on. They seemed to think that is was a problem with all X200s and not just the unit I got - they've had a number of problems with stereos hooked up to iPods and even more so with iPhones.
Well, after playing my iPhone 3G on a demo iDA-X200 for 18 minutes it began to drop out the audio. They were going to call Alpine in the morning and see if they had any advice but before that I plugged in my iPhone 3G into their demo iDA-X100 and let it play. After 35 minutes on the X100 it hadn't missed a beat so I paid the difference and swapped out for the X100. So far I'm pleased but we'll see how things go over the next couple of days - I and hopeful but have my fingers crossed.

  • Connecting my iPod to my car stereo

I am trying to find out the best way to connect my iPod to my car stereo. I know that there are lots of different ways. I have heard that if it is connected to a 3.5mm jack on the front of a car stereo and then into the headphone jack on the iPod it makes the sound quality inferior. I have seen USB ports on the front of stereo's and have also seen leads with ipod dock to 2 RCA leads which connect to the rear of the stereo, therefore making a more permanent fix. Which of these is best? I am happy to take the stereo out although i think that maybe it would be easier to buy a stereo with a front USB connector. Will this give good sound reproduction, and if so can i use the white usb lead which comes with iPods??? Please help.

You can find my car stereos that are ipod compatible.
Personally, I have an Alpine deck with an additional ipod adaptor which is hidden behind the dash and is accessable via the glovebox. The ipod adaptor is connected to the ipod through the dock connection enabling you to fully contral and access your ipod through the car stero while your ipod remains neatly tucked away (and hidden) in your glovebox. I believe they sell stereo head units that do not require and additional ipod adaptor... do a little research and I'm sure you can find something in your price range.
Also, to answer your first question, you shouldn't lose any sound qaulity if your car setup is done this way.

  • Connecting Ipod Video to car stereo

    Hi,
I have just bought a Goodmans GCE 7207i card stereo which has the ability to connect you Ipod and play you music library through the car stereo.
However, on the box of the stereo, it says it is compatable with the Ipod min and 3rd and 4th generation ipods. But I have a 5th generation video Ipod?
I am assuming that it says this on the box as when the stereo was manufactured , the Ipod nano / Video was not released.
My question is, does anyone know if this stereo is likely to be compatable with my ipod video. I am assuming it will be as it has the same connecter and if it was compatable with the Ipod photo then it will probably be compatable with the Ipod video.
If anyone has had any experience with this then please help me as i am wondering whether to return the Stereo before it is installed.
    Thanks
    steve

Oh! Sorry, I don't. I'm expressing how it should work. If you plug the AV Component connection into the touch, plug the connectors into the car DVD and the USB into the car power it should work.
I would try the AV Component connection at home first and when it is working there move it to the car without worrying about the power and then add the power.
    make sense?
Sorry for giving you false hope.

  • Bluetooth not working with my Sony car stereo

Now that I have upgraded from my Iphone 4 to the Iphone 5.  My Sony DX300BTX Bluetooth car stereo will not connect.  I had a oppiontment this last Friday with the apple store.  They were able to connect with there Blue tooth keyboard.  The tech said he could not find any problems with the phone hardware and would not replace it.  The tech sudjusted that I restore the phone as a new phone.  I did this.  Then attempted to connect with my car stereo.  The car stereo connected to the Iphone 5 but the Iphone 5 would not connect to the car stereo.  Btw the Iphone 5 has the latest 6.01 o.s  And so dose my Iphone 4.  Today I took it out to my car to see if it would still connect with the car stereo now that it has the latast 6.01 o.s.   Connected and played Itunes and Pandora perfectly.
So it appears that the Iphone 5 bluetooth chip is the problem.  It's not a software issue and it's not a issue with my sony stereo because the car stereo connected.  But the Iphone 5 would not.  My question is how do I get Apple to fix there faulty bluetooth chip.  I just bought this car stereo last year.  It was suppose to have the best bluetooth connectivity.  And it did with my Iphone 4.  I know if Steve Jobs was still with us this Iphone 5 would have not been released until these kind of bugs were fixed.  And just for the record my sony laptop can see the Iphone 5 to but the Iphone 5 can not see the sony.  Dose Apple make a car stereo that connect to there Iphone 5

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset the BT device
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Car Stereo System

    Hi Forum Members!
    First time post here.
I am overwhelmed by the number of different Car Stereo Systems  there are to buy in the world.
I am looking to surprise my mom with a new Car Stereo System for her 2006(?) Chevy Malibu.
My mom does not own an iphone or any apple product.
All I need is a Stereo that has BlueTooth Connectivity, built in Microphone to use with the BlueTooth for hands free calling,
and it needs an FM/AM Receiver, my mom does not listen to satellite radio
If you can point me in the right direction, that would help out a lot.
and also to any dashboard adapters i might need to help install it into her car
    Thank you

The Kenwood KDC-BT648U (last year's model...still available on website?), KDC-BT652U (This year's model...in stores but not on website...link points to Kenwood's info) and Sony's MEXBT3000P (also in stores but not on website....link points to Sony's product page) are great places to start.  Those are models that have a microphone built in, but there are several more available that have an external microphone for better hands free performance.  The question of adapters needed is kind of tricky if it is a Malibu in that year range.  The parts required can range in price dependent upon the options the car has.  If it has the information center that is built into the radio, then the dash kit is $199.99 and you would also need an antenna adapter.  If the information center is on a separate part of the dash then the dash kit is a more affordable @ $19.99 but would also require a wire harness that is $88.99 and would also need the antenna adapter.

  • IPod nano car stereo connectors

Does anyone know if any of the various third party car stereo connection kits are compatible with the iPod nano? They advertise that you can control iPods and iPod minis directly from the stereo controls, but they don't mention the nanos. Is the interface for controlling the nanos through the dock connector the same as that of the iPods and minis?

I'm not sure I understand your question. Do you mean to ask if the iPod nano and the iPod mini use the same type of connector? Then, yes, they do use the same type of connector.
However, there are a couple of differences between the two iPod models. For example, if you have a FireWire cable connected to your dock or an iPod cable with a FireWire connection, you will only be able to charge your iPod nano. The iPod nano requires a USB connection to sync songs or pictures.
