Car won't recognise ipod

Have had my 30gb ipod in my Audi S3 for nearly 2 years now with no problem. But since i connected it to my pc to add some new music and it autoupdated the software, the car won't recognise it when i connect it. The car recognises my daugher's nano OK but its only got miley cyrus & the jonas brothers on it so i'd rather drive with a knitting needle up by a* than listen to that!
Can any of you boffins help me out please??
Thanks in advance, Dave

The Shuffle doesn't offer audio output through USB. It only has the four conductors needed for either USB (charge and sync) *or* headphone audio+controls, and can't do both functions at the same time. You would need a Nano, Classic or Touch (with a lightning port or dock connector) to get that feature.
Or, if your stereo also offers an AUX audio input, you could connect your Shuffle using an audio cable with e "headphone" plug at both ends. Note that this will not charge the iPod at all,

  • Itunes won't recognise Ipod touch 5G

So this is for my friend who has a 5G, but her Itunes won't recognise the ipod touch 5G, but windows can recognise it, Itunes says to reset the Ipod touch, and she has done this before, and now again it won't recognise it, so she has to reset it, and this is quite annoying her, as resetting takes a long time. my friend had a 4G before, and had no problems with this, she sold the 4G to get the 5G. She has a window 7 laptop. I've tried several ways but it hasn't solved it.
What can we do to solve it ?

  • WIndows/iTunes won't recognise iPod

I connected my 30Gb iPod one day, added some songs, disconnected it properly, listened to my iPod, then came back to connect it to the computer. I waited for a while to see why the "Do Not Disconnect" message hadn't appeared. Instead just the "charging" icon appeared and neither iTunes nor Windows recognised my iPod.
I would restore it, but i don't know how without iTunes, and I would rather leave that as a last resort as i have a lot of data on their that I don't have backed up on the computer.
Is there anyway to get my computer to recognise the iPod?

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.
Then try with the iPod in forced disk mode.

  • PC won't recognise iPod but Dock will

    Hi There
I've tried to sync my iPod recently but none of my PCs seem to recognise it, the iPod just stays as it would be if you hadn't plugged it in. Where as, if I put it in my docking station, it's fine. It charges and plays music as usual. Does anyone know why?
    Thanks

Could it be due to the recent iTunes update as I've just updated it and since then my iPod hasn't been working? :S

  • PC won't recognise ipod after updating iTunes

I have just updated iTunes to the latest version for Windows, and spent some time getting it to work again - I had to reinstall Quicktime (version 7) before iTunes would open. The new version would not recognise my iPod, so I downloaded the latest iPod updater 2005 11 17 and ran that.
The dialogue box asks me to "plug in the iPod to update it", but when I do it just sits there. The iPod remains in "do not disconnect" mode, nothing happens for a while and then the entire system crashes to a blue screen that explains that Windows has shut down...
The iPod is about 2 years old and one of the 40GB models with a plain wheel and the four buttons across the top.
Can any kind person give me a pointer what to do next?
    Thanks

  • TS1368 Computer won't recognise ipod touch

My computer wouldn't recognise my ipod touch in either itunes or my computer, so i then erased it and reset the factory settings and now it just has the "connect to itunes" logo appear on the screen and it is still unrecognisable by my computer.  How can this problem be fixed?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Windows 8 won't recognise ipod

I have an ipod classic (4th gen in think) which worked fine on my windows xp computer. I have just got a new dell desktop running windows 8. When I plug in my ipod classic it appears in 'devices' as 'Unknown device' and 'driver error'. It doesn't appear in itunes at all. I have looked through all the advice i can find and nothing works! Are the correct drivers available to download anywhere? Help!

any one or combination may help
Try a different USB port, and a different cable if you have one.
Give your iPod a reset. Hold down the sleep and home buttons for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and try again.
On your computer go into the settings (hover in the lower right corner to bring up the link to the control panel), programs, add/remove programs. Uninstall iTunes, Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Service. then go to apple.com and redownload and reinstall iTunes then try again.

  • Itunes won't recognise ipod touch

When I try to connect ipod touch get error message that cannot be used as requires itunes version 10.5 or later. Tried to download latest as suggested but no change.  I have itunes on windows xp machine and no problem connecting to nano, classic or shuffle. Help!

The Nano, classsic and shuffle use differnt drivers than the iPod touch.
What version of iTunes is stalled on the computer?  In iTune go to Help and then About iTunes.
    Then try:

  • Computer won't recognise ipod.

Or rather, ipod shows up in 'My Computer' as a drive, but not specifically as an ipod. I can charge it through my pc, but that's all I can do. It used to show up once in a while, allowing me to add new songs etc but not anymore.
I seem to have tried ALL the suggestions on the forum as well as the knowledgebase articles. Yes, even the famous 'Five R's' (thank you Apple!). It is probably the most common complaint on the itunes forums - does anybody have any fresh suggestions? Or does anybody know whether Apple will ever provide a proper, genuine solution for this problem?
    Ta
    pc   Windows XP   fed up

I also have recently experienced this problem. None
of the forums help at all, nor do the support pages.
If apple has a solution for this then why cant they
tell us. The five R's only accomplished wasting my
time as did downloading newer updaters. Seriously if
anyone has an answer to this epidemic problem,
    HELP.... please?
Well if you've really tried all the things on the discussions and support pages this is your opportunity to do everyone a favour by investigating and solving the problem yourself and posting the results when you've succeeded. You may think this is a smartass answer, but believe me, this is the way progress is made. I'd help you if I could, but you've already done everything I would have suggested so it's up to you now. Of course you could send your iPod to me (or someone else) and let me investigate it - but as I've admitted that I know no more than you do I'm no more likely to fix it than you are.

  • Windows/iTunes won't recognise iPod after update.

So I updated to the latest iTunes the other day and now just yesterday I plugged my iPod in for the first time in a few weeks.
It said something about upgrading to ISO4.0 so I downloaded the update. Everything seemed fine - was working no problem, downloaded and then went onto install. It mentioned something about an error occurring and not being able to back up my files. I didn't want to lose everything so I just cancelled that but it went ahead and did something anyway.
Then it all went a bit fuzzy. The iPod displays this image:
    http://km.support.apple.com/library/APPLE/APPLECAREALLGEOS/HT1808/HT180803.png
Even though it was connected and such. The PC (Dell inspiron 1501 - Service Pack 3 - XP Pro) went on to try installing new hardware for the USB device but fails every time with the message "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software."
Now the iPod is stuck at the same screen I mentioned earlier and though I've tried restarting, restoring, recovery etc... Nothing works. It's just stuck like that - I've tried restarting my computer, reinstalling iTunes and the MSCONFIG thing this Apple support recommends. The only thing I can now think of is to try the iPod on someone else's computer.
But I'm unable to do that any time soon so I've come here first - should that actually work and solve my iPod being "stuck", what steps can I take to solve the obvious incompatibility with my own computer now? And should it not work, what do I do about the iPod? Cause I can't see a way of fixing it right now...
    Cheers,
    Jonny

My brother-in-law is having the same issue on his Win XP machine. Hoping to get some help here.

  • ITunes won't recognise iPod/iPhone or iPad

I have recently purchased an iMac i3 with a 27" monitor. I am having issues with the recognition of any portable device. I have read a thousand forums and gone through the solutions but nothing has worked. I originally installed iTunes and it recognised my devices. I shut down the iMac and came back later and when starting it up it does not recognise any device. I changed cables, USB ports. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes around 15 times. iTunes will recognise any device untill I restart the computer. I have gone through and removed apple mobile device files, I have restarted the computer and it still doesn't reconise my devices after the iMac is restarted. I can't tell you how frustrating this is. If anybody out there has had teh same issue could you please let me know how you fixed it? Thanks heaps.

I ran the updates last night and upgraded OS X to 10.6.4 and iTunes is running perfectly now. There must be a conflict when iTunes 10 is downloaded in isolation to the rest of the updates required.

  • ITunes won't recognise my iPod on USB 2.0, only 1.1

my computer won't recognise my iPod touch 1.1.4 when it is connected via my USB 2.0 PCI card, only when it is plugged in via the motherboards inbuilt USB 1.1 ports. I have plugged it into other computers (all pc's) and it works fine on their USB 2.0 ports.
    What could be causing this?
    cheers.

Try this if you have not already. This removes and reinstalls ALL Apple software and sometimes that is required.
