Card not present on hot sync

I am using Palm TX with Doc To Go v10.002 and Palm Desktop v 6.2.2.  My expansion card is a Palm 128 mg.  When I insert the card into the Palm, it reads it as having some memory taken, but the documents do not read on the Palm.  When I hot sync, I get the message "card not present" in the card section of the Hot Sync Manager.  I have refomatted the card.  When I read the card from my pc, the folders for palm system are there.  I have added a couple of documents from the pc to the card, bypassing the Hot Sych Manager, but my palm still does not read them/acknowledge them.

this is a common issue.
You have the following: cascading syncBOs - have a look into MEREP_PD and yu see a column with some numbers in boxes. Click on these boxes and you see if a syncbo is related to another one.
In your case: you tr to download MAM010 BO for example. But this will only come down if the related order (MAM001) is available as well. But MAM001 will only be on the device, if related FunctLoc or Partner is on device as well - and so forth. And nothing will be on the device, if MAM090 is not available.
What I want to say: have a look into the relations. If you see this warning in MEREP_LOG, check if you see this warning as well for other BOS and see why these are not on the middleware available. Check the GETLIST/GETDETAIL handlers on the backend and so forth. This is a little bit of a frustrating work, but it is because the dataset will only be on the device if all related information is available as well.
If you go to the device and open MAM and then type the url:
http://localhost:4444/MAM/start.jsp
where MAM is the name of your MAM installation (so change it to our needs) you will see the persistence on the device. Select MAM001 and show the data. The related entries are there with the SyncKEY of the object. If you then select the partner for example and search for the information shown for MAM001 you will find it on the device as well. IF the partner would not be there you would get an error in the app. To avoid that, an order will not come down if the patner is not available for download.
A little confisung at first I guess - but if you think about it is hopefully makes sence - if not - ask, we will clarify this hopefully.

    I bought my Nokia N97 2 weeks ago from your website. I switched my old phone data over to the new one, transfer few document, music onto the new phone from my PC and updated software last week. It worked for up until now but yesterday I all of a sudden
    - while I was playing music got a message saying files have been corrupted, it stopped playing music and deleted all documents from the E drive.
    - I went into the file manager but I could not access my E: Mass Storage drive anymore (from file manager) as it says 'memory in use'.
    - I connected the phone through USB cable to my PC, select PC suite on my phone but I got a message on the phone screen which said "Memory card not present (USB card may not work as expected)"even though I used it last week. However, while USB is connected, I could see the 'Phone Browser' on my explorer on my PC but no mass storage
    - I have restarted several times, took the battery in and out and tried but no luck.
    - I did a hard reset on the phone (*#7370#), it reset everything but no luck on the E: Mass Storage as it still says 'memory not in use'
    - I tried software update, it refreshes the list and does not update anything when I click on it. 
    - I went to Nokia Care Centre and they failed to fix the issue (after doing a reboot) and asked me to send the faulty phone back.
    I bought the phone from mobilephonesdirect.co.uk - when I called them, they were quite hostile and asked me to email ([email protected]). I emailed but the response time is apparently 5 days. The guy on the phone tells me since the phone is 7 days older they cannot replace it. I called the insurance guys, they said because it is a manufacturer issue its not covered by the insurance. I called the repair centre recommended by mobilephonesdirect, they said if nokia care centre cannot repair it, there is no point in sending in the phone. 
    Now what do I do? Does anyone know how to fix this "memory not present" issue? 

    Hi mate, Not sure how to fix the problem ,but you have the right for this to be sorted. 
    I take it you bought it from a website or over phone,this is classed as distance selling, That means you are entitled to 7 days "cooling off period" in which you can return the product no questions asked. I think this is where they are getting there 7 days from. It has nothing to do with faulty goods.     If the goods are faulty it breached the "Sales of Goods act 1979"  as the goods should be fit for purpose which yours is not. 
    The Sale of Goods Act makes reference to ‘the seller’, this is the shop, the retailer, or the individual you bought it from, and is who you made the contract with. It is not the manufacturer, and don’t let the shop tell you otherwise! If there is an obvious fault with the item at any time within the first 6 months and it has not been caused by wear and tear or misuse, your first port of call must be the shop you bought it from. They have the responsibility to put the matter right, and should not evade this responsibility by referring you to the manufacturer in the context of a guarantee or warranty. Even after this 6 month period, if the item breaks down prematurely , you should always go back to the shop or retailer in the first instance.
    Your statutory rights under the Sale of Goods Act take precedence over and above any warranty or guarantee you may have with either the retailer or manufacturer. It is misleading for a shop to tell you they can do nothing simply because their warranty or guarantee has run out, because you will still have your statutory rights.
    I have an n97 and my key lock slider just came off. I had to argue untill I was blue in the face that it is a fault and not over use (its the most pressed key on the phone) Finally they sent it off for repair for me.

    i am having a problem that has not occurred before as i am not able to hot sync my t5 handheld to my computer for back-up.
    for some reason, there seems to be no connection of my palm to my computer using the usb cable, which i have always used before.

  • Private Fields on me card not respected with iCloud sync

    I have set certain fields on my Me card as private (not to be shared.) When my me card is synced to icloud and back down to my iPhone my iPhone does not respect the private fields when sharing my Me card from that device. The fields are respected when shared from my laptop.
    I've been sharing private data with my customers that I expected to remain private. How can I fix this?

    Yes, clearly post iCloud, QuickSync cannot 'see' the contacts list.
    However, here's my question: is it possible to put a duplicate set of contacts where they used to be stored on the local Mac prior to iCloud? Then QS would see them and import them?
    They could always be deleted afterwards if they caused a duplicate set to appear in Address Book for any reason.
    Obviously this is a bit of a kludge as it won't get updated as you add/delete from Address Book. But I'd settle for my 500 contacts being at least transfererd! I could put up with repeatign this workaroudn occasionally.
    Thoughts?

    Yes, very easy to do!  In Quick Install, you are presented with two windows - the upper one is for tranferral to the Device, the bottom for the card.
    I'm hazarding a guess here that the game you are trying to install is refusing to go to the device, correct?  If so, you may be trying to install a game for another OS, or the download is a compressed file (.zip or .exe).  Compressed files have to be unpacked on your computer first to get the Palm OS files (.prc or .pdb).  
    Once the files have been extracted from the zip, you can then double-click on them to send them to Quick Install.

  • Hot sync not working. I am a mac user OS 10.4.11

    I have a MacBook Pro
    Even after I reset my palm pilot (TX) many times and tried to hot sync (I have my info on palm software)
    It gets "stuck" on the "address portion" of the  sinc for a long time (5 - 7 minutes)  and then gives this error message:

    When I operate my palm, some info is not there. When I search for a phone number or other names it eventually resets itself!
    Any advise?

  • Palm Desktop 6.2 with drivers and hot sync will not install

    My new computer has dual quad core processors (8 processors), 8 GB RAM, Vista Ultimate 64 bit. 
    The Palm Desktop and Hot Sync manager will not load because the New Hardware Wizard cannot find the drivers for the Palm Centro even when I point the wizard to C:/Program Files (X86)/Palm/USB-drivers.
    Is the Palm Desktop software compatible with Vista Ultimate 64 bit?
    The software loads just fine and operates well on my quad core,2GB RAM, Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

    You need to reinstall iPhoto. 
    Questions:
    What version of iPhoto are you running (iPhoto > About iPhoto)?
    What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
    General steps:
    Remove the following files to the trash:
    Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > iPhoto (if present)
    Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > NetServices (if present)
    Macintosh HD > Library > Receipts > iPhoto (anything with iPhoto in the name)
    Macintosh HD > Applications > iPhoto
    Insert the iLife install disk you have or the Applications disk that came with your computer and reinstall iPhoto: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2604
    Once installation is complete go to the Apple > Software update and repeat this until no additional updates are offered.

  • Dc7800 "smart card reader not present" during POST

    Hi,
    I've got a dc7800 Small Form Factor system. It was working fine but after a reboot it won't start up normally anymore. The black POST screen appears, RAM testing starts to count up and then I see and error about "system options not set". After less than a second, a blue window in the middle of the screen displays the message "smart card authentication" and below that, "smart card reader not present".
    From a bit of reading it seems like a BIOS problem but I can't figure out how to really reset the CMOS and get things working again. I've tried removing the CMOS jumper and booting the system, removing the power cord and CMOS battery for 10 minutes, and have tried putting a BIOS .bin file on a FAT32 USB key in an attempt to use the BIOS recovery option, none of which has worked.
    Is there a way to do one of the following:
    - force the CMOS defaults to reset and remove the configuration that requires the smart card authentication?
    - force a BIOS recovery, with a key combination or by using a different jumper or jumpers on the motherboard?
    I see various other jumpers and pads on the motherboard like "ROM RCVRY" and the E15 Boot Block Recovery Header but scant information about how these might be used to solve the problem.
    It seems to me that the hardware is fine as it powers up and displays the POST screen. It's like a BIOS setting has been reset to require a smart card, even though there isn't one, nor even a smart card reader, in the system.
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Now, if you can get into the BIOS menus, if you look at the top of page 8, you will see what you need to do in order to enable/disable the smart card reader message.

    Whatever the problem is, it is a security setting issue, and clearing the CMOS or updating the BIOS will not have any effect on that setting.
    Unfortunately, I have no experience with the security settings or protect tools software on HP business PC's.
    I have a dc7800 (and only use HP business desktops and notebooks), so I am very familiar with all the other aspects of the PC but that one.
    You may want to post your issue on the HP business support forum, business PC section.  Hopefully someone there has experience with turning this feature on or off.

    I tried double clicking the Hot Sync application, but it will not enable at system setup Error msg: "Could not create auto launch entry to enable HotSync at startup". Otherwise, Hot Sync Manager tells me that it is enabled, I selected it. Yet nothing is hot syncing. I entered some data into palm destop, and I don't see it on my handheld. Are all of these components compatible?

    Ok. So I successfully hot synced, or so I thought. I disabled the hot sync, and then when I tried to re-enable it said that transport manager, and then conduit manager were not in the same folder, so that's why it wouldn't work. I gave up trying to have the hot sync manager in an easy location (ie. on my desktop), and deleted the icons. Then I tried again, but the step I was missing each time was hitting hot sync on my handheld! I haven't use a palm pilot in a looong time. The first hot sync was interrupted and incomplete, the 2nd one seemed to work. Only problem is, the data I entered in the datebook of Palm Desktop doesn't appear on my handheld. THat's precisely what I want to hot sync, much easier to do it on the comp. than manually on my handheld. Help? Does it make a difference that my computer is not registering a new device?

    You are supposed to be able to set up an account without a credit card. See HT2534 - Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store account without a credit card.
    If you've already created the Apple ID that you want to use and are now being asked for a credit card try the method given here. If you use this I'd be interested to know how you get on because I haven't yet had the time to try it myself.

    You don't need an international credit card, to be able to buy items from your country's store (you can't use another country's store) the card needs to have been issued by a bank in your country and be registered to your name and address.   • Hot sync does not connect

    I posted here before but did not get a response.  Hot sync does not work and has not since May.  THe Palm can connect to the router and download email etc but does not connect with the palm software.  I removed the old copy, downloaded and installed a new copy and nothing.  does anyone have any suggestions or help?

    When I Hot Sync from 755p to PC, all pics from device are usually saved to My Documents\Palm OS Desktop\755p\Photos\BackupForInternal\Palm so I typically delete the pics from device because all new pics are added to any that were saved previously to PC and I have all pics I ever took. Unfortunately, I do not have memory card and did not back up the pics from PC to disk.
    Today, I Hot Sync and the new pics that were on my device were saved to PC as usual but this time all pics that were saved previously to PC were erased.
    How can I get these erased pics back?
    Will system restore (Windows XP) to point prior to last hot sync work?

    i am trying to sync my tungsten E2 which i just bought refurbished. i installed my own software since my last tungsten E2 went kaput ( so i previously owned a tungsten E2 ). i always get FATAL ALERT: Fatal Exception everytime i try to hot sync. what is wrong? thank you.

    As with most problems that occur on a Palm PDA, it is either software or hardware related and we have to determine which one.
    If your device is not locked up, the best method is to first make a complete backup of your unit to your SD card using the free "NVBackup" (available from http://www.freewarepalm.com) After the backup is complete, Hard Reset the unit, then test to see if full functionality returns.
    To perform a Hard Reset:
    While pressing and holding the Power button down, tap and release the Reset button in back and continue to hold the Power button down. When the grey Palm logo appears, you can release the Power button.
    You should now see the warning page in about 5 languages. Press the UP direction on the 5-way pad to complete the task. Your Palm will reset itself several times as it re-installs the original programs and erases all your previous data.
    DO NOT HOTSYNC YET! Test the unit before reinstalling any software. If the unit works correctly, your problem is being caused by a "drug interaction" of software - maybe one rogue program, or a combination of several. You'll have to reinstall the third-party programs one or a few at a time to find the problem one. To avoid re-installing a software issue, rename your /Backup directory in your Palm folder (on a PC it's found here: C/Program Files/Palm(One)/"your HotSync ID name truncated"/Backup) to something like "/BackupOLD". Now perform the HotSync, choose your HotSync name you've been using, and all your PIM data will return, but not the third-party programs. Test for functionality again. If all is good, start installing the old programs from your /BackupOLD directory one (or a few if brave) at a time.
    If the unit does not work after a Hard Reset is performed correctly, then it may be Hardware-related. (If it's a connection problem via either BlueTooth or Wifi, be sure nothing has changed on the unit you're trying to connect to!)
