CARD READERS DISAPEARED!?!?!

Hello, When I first instaled my Windows XP OS into my MEGA 651, I rememer seeing the memory card reader slots under MY COMPUTER, and the safe to remove icon in the task bar appeared, where it alowed me to safly rmove the card readers.. It as been bout a week, and I never tried to use the emory card reader.  Today was the first time.. but I just realized the memory card reader icons under MY COMPUTER ave disapeared, and the safe to remove icon in the task bar is there, but now the only object that apears in the safe to remove list is my wireless network USB adapter, the crd rader slot, have disapeared from the list.  Does anyone knw what happened???? is ther anything I can do or re install o the memory card slot icons re appear in MY COMPUTE, i would raly appreciate the help
THANKS!

This happens with some USB devices....Disconnect the wire from the card reader to the board. It's the small connector at the front corner of the board by the Radio module. Boot the computer.....then turn it off and disconnect the AC for a few minutes. Reconnect the wire and reboot......XP should find a new device and recognize the card reader. This may or may not be a permanent fix.
Sometimes just pulling the ac wire for a few minutes will fix the problem......

  • Do SD card readers not work with 10.3?

I have an old G4 Power mac, and my kids have iMac G5s. We all run 10.3.9, and have SD card readers, and none of them work at all. Does Apple acknowledge that SD cards do not work with Macs, and/or was this fixed in 10.4? We are looking to replace our computers, and this is a deal breaker.

Okay, I did a little more research, and here's what I have found.
(Yes, I'm talking about a USB card reader.)
On my ancient G4 Mac, the 2GB card never mounts. I can see it with Disk Utility, but Disk Utility usually offers to format it. When I do this, it attempts to format it as a 1GB card, and fails.
However, I found an old 16MB card, and it mounts every time.
My kids both have a reader and a 2GB card for their iMacs. They usually mount okay, but not always. Sometimes it takes a restart.
The 2GB cards are all a funky off-brand, "Adata." The 16MB card is a Canon.
Now I am wondering if it's the cheap cards, or the capacity of the cards. I remember reading at one time that some Macs don't want to see removable drives over 1GB. This may be the problem with my computer. I just ordered a 1GB PQI card, we'll see how that does when it arrives.
My mac has both USB 1.1 and 2.0 slots. Same results on either bus.

  • My HP Pavilion Elite m9058n PC's Card-Readers Stop Reading/Recognizing My SDHC Cards

Just about 2 weeks ago my HP Pavilion Elite m9058n PC's card readers stop reading or recognizing my memory cards used to store the pictures I took. They used to be able to read my SDHC cards (Sandisk, Kinston, Panasonic) before. Don't understand why they stop reading, even recognizing all of them. My O/S is Windows 8. The initial symptom was the options for processing the inserted cards seemed to be showing up slower than before and then I had to withdraw the cards and re-insert them so that such option screen appear. Then later on it didn't show up at all. And when I checked "This PC" ("computer" or "my computer" in other Windows versions), I didn't see the DRIVE LETTERS, like G, K, or J, etc. for the memory card readers any more. Now if I connect my camera directly with my PC, I see on the camera model number on "This PC" screen.
Please help me understand what this problem is and kindly provide me with the best solutions you can.
    Thank you very much.

    Hi,
I understand your card reader is not working as you have previously experienced. Take a look at the following document, Using and Troubleshooting Memory Card Readers (Windows 8), specifically the "Resolving issues with memory cards" section. Hopefully there will be something in there that is useful for you. Best of luck. Have a wonderful day.

  • Can anyone recommend a USB CF card reader that will work in my Macbook Pro Retina? My USB card readers for CF cards do not work

At present, the only way I can load photos from a CF card to my new Macbook Pro Retina is by loading them onto an external hard drive via an old PC that can accept either of my USB card readers, then plugging the external hard drive into my MBP. Neither the USB card reader or the cable that comes with the Canon HDSLR camera will transfer photos directly to my MBP. I find it unbelievable that I have to go to a PC to load photos because I can't do it with my new MBP.
Has anyone found a reliable USB CF card reader, or one that connects via thunderbolt or HDMI, at any price, that will work directly with the new MBP Retina?

    This is what we need:
Location photoshoot - we use the Canon EOS 5D  Mk II still camera & the Canon FX100 pro camcorder.
CF cards are: SanDisk Extreme UDMA & SanDisk Extreme Pro UDMA 6 for video (I think they are both Type II) My Mac recognises them both as FAT 32 format
My MBPRetina is on the latest version of Mountain Lion OSX 10.83
the files from the camcorder will transfer to my MacBook Pro Retina directly via the camera's cable but it is quite slow & it means I cannot continue to film while downloading files but this we can live with.
the files from the still camera Canon EOS 5D  Mk II will not transfer directly via the camera's cable - have yet to get the Canon software to download, but via the camera's cable will not help anyway as we need to have the still camera free to keep shooting.
We need to be able to take out the CF card from the first part of the shoot & download the still shots while just on the Macbook's battery power, while we insert a fresh CF card back into the still camera to continue with the next part of the shoot simultaneously (while the first card is downloading.)
The files from the first part of the shoot will be both in RAW (.CR2) & Jpeg format. We just need to quickly transfer the jpegs, then I do a quick sort, batch the best ones as black/white images, & use these in a client slideshow immediately after part 2 of the shoot.
Obviously we need fast data transfer speeds, & rely on the MBP's battery power while on a location shoot.
The card readers I have tried are an older specific CF card reader branded as Palm, & a USB 2 multi card reader branded as Travel Flash. With both readers, the lights on the readers flash on & off, & the MBP recognises the card & the files will even appear both in Finder & in i-Photo, so it starts importing, then aborts with an error message saying:
'The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “” can’t be read or written.
    (Error code -36)'
    & another message saying:
'the disk was not ejected properly'.
So it appears the MBP does read the CF cards but the card readers don't stay connected, no matter what angle I put them on or however many times I re-connect them.
Yes, they are probably cheap & I want to buy a decent one.
    So, in summary:
the card reader needs to work when the MBPR is only on battery power (I read in some forums that some USB card readers aren't so reliable on the laptop's battery power)
the card reader needs to be quite fast. I have read the USB 3 readers won't read CF cards at higher than USB 2 speeds. Is this true? Are the firewire connected ones faster, & if so, are they still reliable on the MBP's battery power?
From research, it appears my problem is associated with my specific model of Mac & platform, being MacBook Retina on Mountain Lion OSX Version 10.83. If any of the recommended card readers have been successful with this, plese let me know.
Thanks heaps for the suggestions so far.

  • SDHC internal card readers needed for school!! Help!

This really isn't an emergency, but I do need to find out if there are any class 6 SDHC internal card readers out there or even a heavy, large device that reads P2 and SDHC cards. The reason I'm asking is that for our high school media academy, we need items large enough to be locked down, that can't walk off. The perfect solution is an internal card reader that can go into the second DVD drive slot of our Dual and Quad Core Mac Intel towers. If something like that exists, it would be great and we wouldn't have to worry about card readers walking off or constantly having to insert a card reader for every student or group that needs to ingest. We have over 150 students in the program and they are not allowed to bring USB keychain drives to school, but they can bring a SD card. Any ideas?

Initially, the class of card doesn't dictate whether it is compatible. SDHC readers will read all classes of SDHC.
I've never seen a small one at all. Most are about as big as a credit card, if that big.
There isn't a device that read p2 cards and SDHC. Panasonic used to sell a USB reader/HDD but doesn't anymore. Anything else from Panasonic runs about $2200.00
Nothing works well with MacPros at all, but there is a SIIG combination for PCI E and a reader that may work with 10.5.5. That is about $400.00.

  • Zio compact flash card readers

anybody know where to get updated drivers to enable a ZiO! (Microtech) compact flash card reader that can faciliate importing photos to the MacBook Pro?

Zio was acquired by smartdisk (www.smartdisk.com). They have drivers fro the Zio line of card readers, but do not state that they are intel mac compatible. YMMV.

  • Programming multiple smart cards with multiple smart card readers in a PC causes a PCSCException in a smart card that is in progress

    Hi,
I develop a Java code using smartcardio API to program a smart card. My GUI allows to add at most 5 smart card readers that will wait for card present, then do authentication and program the smart card with an application, then wait for card removal. This is a separate thread running in a loop for each smart card reader added as programmer.
The problem occurs when a certain smart card is in progress and I inserted another smart card to another smart card reader.  Both smart card reader halts and throw sun.security.smartcardio.PCSCException: Unknown error 0x8010002f.
I also observed that every time there is an attempt to insert/remove a smart card in the smart card reader that is connected to the USB port would cause the programming in progress to be interrupted and throw the PCSCException.
These are some exceptions I got during my testing:
    sun.security.smartcardio.PCSCException: Unknown error 0x8010002f
      at sun.security.smartcardio.PCSC.SCardTransmit(Native Method)
      at sun.security.smartcardio.ChannelImpl.doTransmit(ChannelImpl.java:171)
java.lang.Exception: Loader Record Failed: 6E | 0 //Sometimes I got this return code SW1 0x6E SW2 0x00 which means an APDU with an invalid 'CLA' bytes was received. I had check the command before it was sent and it was correct.
Help me understand this issue. I think the CardTerminal.isCardPresent(), CardTerminal.waitForCardPresent(0), and CardTerminal.waitForCardAbsent(0) cause this issue that CardChannel.transmit(apduCommand) is interrupted or the smart card insertion/removal causes the CardChannel.transmit(apduCommand) is interrupted.

    Hi,
when you work with one smartcard reader only usually you address the slot -1 that means "the first found".
But to deal with multiple readers you have to use slots of course since one reader will be slot 0, next reader will be slot 1 and so on...
So a credential object will be identified on a system by a couple
    <slot,alias>
After that, the way to address slots (I mean the syntax) depends on the classes you are using...

    FYI
The following regards Oracle ODBC drivers-
You must have an Oracle product with SQLNet installed before you
can make the Oracle ODBC driver work.
The version of the ODBC driver to get is supposed to correspond
to the SQLNet or Net8 Client version you're running.
You should only install the version of the ODBC driver that
matches the version of the Oracle client you have. In other
    words--
    ODBC driver     Oracle client
    8.0.5.10      8.0.5.x.x
    8.0.6.2      8.0.6.x.x
    8.1.5.7      8.1.5.x.x
    8.1.6.2      8.1.6.x.x
Start up the Oracle installer and look at the list of products
    already installed.
After installing the Oracle8 ODBC Driver and Configuring Net8
    database services, and
before using the Oracle8 ODBC Driver, you must configure the data
    source.

  • Can we integrate credit card readers into a web app?

Most readers have companies that support them . . .  I was wondering if it's possible to build a web app, through the online store, to utilize the plug in credit card readers for your phone??

Web apps are not eCommerce and have no public access (outside) API so ignore those.
You can create 3rd party solutions that read that data and send it to BC via the API and you can source build that if you need to.
There is nothing in BC directly for what your asking for.

  • Sun Ray, windows & and USB card readers

    Hi all,
I read, or was told that the new version of the SR software (version 5) should enable more USB devices to work in combination with Sun Ray.
We currently serve our users with windows via SunRay - and it works very well. The only issue being that we need to get usb card readers - such as the acr38 to work with SunRay. Until now this has not worked. Does anyone know whether this is currently possible or whether this should be possible using SR 5?
    thanks and regards,
    Paul

    Hi,
Do you provide terminal server desktop or a VDI based 'XP' desktop to your users ?
the next early access release (EA2) will support additional USB support; it seems only for VDI based 'xp' desktops; so that might solve your USB card reader request if you provide XP desktops.
The current PC/SC release does support some kind of second card reader attached to the sunray. Never looked indepth into this feature but i did see it read the card from the additional reader with the added debug tools.
Do you actually need this second card reader? Maybe you could use the PC/SC passthrough to windows to read the your card in the windows backend losing the second card reader.
if all else fails you could try a network USB hub. This device is attached to the network and your reader is attached to the device. Then you use a client on the windows environment to connect to the device; hence connect to your USB reader. The client on the windows environment that works with the device i've tested was only able to run just once on a terminal server.. so this is not a very scaleable solution if you run terminal server.
    regards,
    Patrick

    Hello!
Let me first understand your question,  Do you want to know wich of 22 DLL´s, that you have, can you use to sent an AT command to retrive the MSISDN on SIM Card?
If you answer is yes, you should be identify all the functions in your dll and found wich of them ara used to sent AT commands like SMS send, SMS retrive, etc.., the same structure of this commands you can use to send another AT Command.
The number should be record on the SIM Card.
    AT+CNUM Subscriber Number
    Description:
This command returns the MSISDNs related to the subscriber (this information can be
stored in the SIM or in the ME). If subscriber has different MSISDN for different services,
each MSISDN is returned in a separate line.
    Test if the command
    is supported
    AT+CNUM=?

  • How access to Smart Card Readers using Labview?

I´am trying access to Smart Card Readers by Labview, but I have problems.
I want to read SIM card GSM using Labview.!
The file winscard.dll has the functions to access, but I dont have skill with "Using External codes in LabView".
In MSDN library there is the specification about the functions for winscard.dll
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/secauthn/security/smart_card_authentication.asp
When you install a driver for some smart card reader you access to it by winscard.dll.
    Att. Enrique

Finally I can acces to the smart card readers (PC/SC) with Labview,   this is the first part where I can establish the context and realease it, and  I can get the first  name of my list of PC/SC readers that I have connected to my computer.
I was wearing the "Call Library Function"  for  winscard.dll
For  Establish the context you need :
        function name :  SCardEstablishContext
    Calling conventions :  stdcall (WINAPI)
    function prototype :    long SCardEstablishContext(long SCARD_SCOPE_USER, long NULL1, long NULL2, unsigned long *hContextHandle);
    function name : SCardReleaseContext
    Calling conventions :  stdcall (WINAPI)
    function prototype :  void SCardReleaseContext(unsigned long hContextHandle);

  • OS X 10.4.x on PPC and Intel having problems with Card Readers

    Hello,
I am in charge of a school district running about 75 client macs, all PPC G5 and Intel mixed. I have been having reports that the Lexar card readers for the digital photography lab sometimes do not auto-mount the media that is inserted into them. Apple System Profiler detects the card reader, but when the card is stuck into the reader it does not appear in finder at all to retrieve the files.
Upon testing, a reboot usually alleviates the problem, but the teachers feel that the interuption in class and productivity time for a reboot is unacceptable.
I have the user accounts managed through Workgroup Manager on my Xserve, and I have it set so that they have access to auto-mount media (unless I'm missing a setting somewhere. But i'd think if the setting was off, the reboot wouldn't matter and it wouldn't fix the issue).
At anyrate, my question is has anyone else expierenced problems with card readers and auto-mounting the media in OS X? How about in a multi-user environment. Does anyone have any suggestions? All are welcome.
Thanks so much for your time.

Since the latest update Mac OS X 10.4.9, my USB card readers have stopped working. The media is recocognized, but the transfer rate is so slow I could manually write the binary.
There were no issues prior to this update, and card readers work on machines NOT updated.

  • LR import 2 card readers at the same time

It would speed up my workflow significantly if i could import from 2 card readers at the same time in LR, and import as DNG.  As it stands now when I am really pressed for time I use the dng converter as an importer  then import in place in LR. I would like to see one program in my workflow not 2 or some times 3.

8 GB of ram is enough but If when I replace my mac pro next month I am going to put in 32 GB of  ram.
The whole point is to speed up the work flow.  I have to create great images in very short amount  of time every day. Today I had 1500 images and I had less than one hour to get the images out and I did not have the time to convert to DNG on import.  Coverting to DNG on import slows the process down. So does importing from one card at a time.  I have to go back and replace the CR2 files with DNGs on the server tomorrow.  Like Seth Resnick says “workflow not slow flow”.
