CardDAV and CalDAV to Google fails authentication

I have spent 6 hours reading various forums and trying everything suggested, but I cannot get my Z10 to connect to my Google Contacts and Calendar.
The error message is:
Your account cannot be authenticated with your service provider.  Please make sure the account settings are correct.
I have updated to OS version 10.1.0.273.
I have Internet connectivity via Wifi, since I can use the browser to visit web pages.
I upgraded from my Torch, since Google stopped supporting the only sync method with that device.  Now that I still can't connect after upgrading is incredibly frustrating.
Any help will be greatly appreciated !

I got it working. Oddly enough, this fails when using only Wifi, which I know was working since I tested it with the browser. It turned on the connection to Bell Mobility and it worked. I expect that means the transfer used up some of my data plan rather than using the Wifi :-(
It works, so I am happy !

  • Why Can't CardDav and CalDav verify my account name and password?

No matter what I do, CardDav and CalDav will not communicate after setting them up in Contact and Calendar. The password and user name are correct.
In fact, I pinged the server from the terminal and the packets went through. But it still will not work.
    Is this a known bug?
I do show two hosts. One is :host and the other :local. Could this be causing a conflict? I have it set up to use the :local server.
    Ted

I just noticed this when I disabled and then reinabled CardDav upon opening Contacts.
"The operation couldn’t be completed. (CoreDAVHTTPStatusErrorDomain error 500.)"
CalDav is syncing correctly and does not report this error. But it still asks for my password when selcting CalDav in System Preferences. Weird.

  • Mavericks-compatible CardDav and CalDav Server on PowerPC

I have an old PowerPC Mac Mini that I would like to set up as a CardDav and CalDav sync server for our household Mavericks computers to use for syncing their Contacts and Calendars, avoiding iCloud. The PowerPC Mac Mini is limited to running Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard (or Leopard Server). I have a legitimate copy of Leopard Server, but unfortunately, Leopard Server does not support CardDav (Contacts syncing).
I am looking for PowerPC / Leopard compatible solutions for a CardDav and CalDav server that is known to work on my PowerPC Mac Mini.
There are several tools out there, all of which require complex configurations, but I am concerned about the following:
    * Compatibility with the old PowerPC Mac OS Leopard codebase.
    * Compatibility with the Mavericks clients.
Does anyone have a running, working solution to provide CardDav and CalDav sync services to modern Mavericks clients from a PowerPC Mac running Leopard or Leopard Server?

    Just a follow up:
I tried setting up Baikal to run on a Leopard Server in a VMware guest as a trial effort. If it had worked, I would have installed it on the PowerPC Mac Mini and posted the details here. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it work, despite investing several hours. It required many deviations from the written procedure. In fairness, the procedure was written for a Mac running Mavericks.
After investing a reasonable amount of time and effort in an obsolete PowerPC Mac, I decided that it is time to retire it and replace it with a new Intel Mac Mini running Mavericks Server that can run local Contacts and Calendar sync services for the family Macs, iPhones, and iPads on the home network. I am still doing basic setup on the new Mac, and am not ready to tackle Contacts and Calendar syncing yet.
Here is one source for setting up Mavericks Server as a sync server. Note the comment describing a bug for Contacts syncing:
    http://securityspread.com/2013/10/27/setting-sync-server/
    Here is another:

This thread is about getting a PowerPC Mac running Leopard (or Leopard Server) to do the job, so I won't hijack it for Intel/Mavericks issues. Thanks to all for their suggestions.

  • IOS CardDAV and SSL/TLS

Will iOS 7.0.2 and iOS 8.1 devices running CardDAV clients work with CardDAV server that only supports TLS and deprecated SSL?

For those with interest to upgrade your CardDAV and CalDAV servers and intend to deprecate SSL v3 on your servers, I am able to share and report that iOS 7.1.2 and iOS 8.1 contacts clients are able to do away with SSL v3 and use TLS 1.1/1.2 for encryption to void POODLE attacks.
This is my experience and thought it might be worthwhile to share.
    Cheers!

  • I keep getting a notification that says "Google Talk authentication failed"...does anyone know how to get rid of this?  I tried looking for it in the apps but not really sure what google talk is or how to get rid of this message that keeps popping up.

How do i get rid of the message that keeps popping up that says "google talk authentication failed"????

    funwidowlady,
Good afternoon!  I'm glad I can be here to help with this error. In the device this application is identified only as 'Talk', so that be more familiar to you. First I recommend opening the 'Market' app on your phone, then Menu>My Apps to see if this application requires an update. It will display a list on top of all applications that need to be updated. If nothing exists, tap 'Home' and go into 'Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Talk, then tap 'Clear Cache' and 'Clear Data' to remove the history of that application and stop the notifications.  The app will remain on your phone for future use, if you desire to take advantage of it. Read more about Google Talk here
    Thank you!

  • Sony NSZ-GS7 - Google Talk Authentication Fails + Not able to download any apps

Sony Support, please assist.  I recently had freezing issues with my NSZ-GS7.  I did a factory reset which fixed the freezing Now, I'm no longer able to download any applications from the Google Play Store and I receive notifications every few minutes that "google talk authentication failed".  I've called support  who advise only to post my question on the sony community as they had no resolution.

Sony Team, do you have a resolution for this problem ? The Tele support again just directs me to this community ?

  • Sony NSZ-GS7/GS8 - Google Talk Authentication Failed

I just did a factory data reset on my Sony NSZ-GS7/GS8 because I was having a couple of minor issues and the forums I read said a factory reset was the best option. Well after doing a factory reset all my issues were cured but I have a whole host of new issues. After it comes on I get an error message stating "Google Talk Authentication Failed" and the error details are (Google Talk failed to login. If this is a Google Apps account, confirm that Chat service is enabled for this account.) After I clear that error, I tried to download all my apps and the app updates for the apps installed from the “Google Play Store”. Immediately after clicking on the update button I get “error downloading “name of app etc…” I have tried a hard reset using the connect button under the device.I have tried clearing the data and cache in the Google Play Store, Google Network Frame Services, Download Manager, re-setting, rebooting, etc. etc. etc. Based on the error it’s got to be something with the sony/gmail account sign in. I have been all over the internet and I can’t find a solution. I love this device I’d hate to have to toss it and find something else. Plus I don’t wanna spend another couple hundred dollars. Please Help!!!Any ideas would be appreciated.Thank You in Advance

Attention akulac! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I called Sony back and raised a little ******. I told them everything about my units errors and what I've done to try and fix it and all the trouble shooting including what I went through contacting Google. I told them what you said in your post. And sure enough this is a known issue with this Sony model. My unit is 2 years and 10 months old and has been out of warranty for 1 year and 10 months yet, Sony is replacing my unit for free. Not repairing but replacing with a new unit. So for anyone else who experiences this issue contact Sony. It can't be fixed.

  • ISE 1.2 not logging failed authentications on guest portal (CWA)

    Hi there
I think this is a bug but wanted to check, if someone knows a good reason why failed authentication attemps with non-existing user account are not logged on ISE 1.2 (CWA).
    The different cases:
Case 1: existing user / wrong password -> logged
Case 2: no user / any password -> logged
Case 3: no user / no password -> logged
Case 4: non-existing user / any password -> not logged
In my opinion this is a critical case to be logged because this could be an indicator of a DoS attack or a password penetration test.
Thanks in advance and best regards
    Dominic

    Hi vatullu
thanks man, you helped me a lot.

  • For Google Calendar/Contacts, etc. - CalDav or Google Sync?

For my iPhone, what are the advantages and disadvantages of CalDav vs Google Sync? Any thoughts?

Not over the air - not until firmware update 4.0 is released which will include the ability to access more than one Exchange account.

  • 802.1x fail authentication - packets keep discarded

    Hi all,
I'm implementing 802.1x using Catalyst 3560 and MS IAS as radius server. The plan is, every PC needs to authenticate using PEAP with radius and assigned to a VLAN. Fail authentication will be assigned to guest VLAN.
The problem is when I'm testing a PC, set the PC withouth 802.1x enabled, plug it to the 3560 port, the port keeps that PC packets discarded forever. I remove dot1x configuration on the interface, but it keep discard all packets (can't ping anywhere). When I plugged the PC to other port with the same configuration (no dot1x), it works. I have tried shut and no shut the interface, disable - enable devices, remove config and etc but the PC can't ping anywhere.
I'm happy to paste the config. Could anyone please explain me why it happens and what is the solution? Many thanks.

Here's an example config that should work:
    interface GigabitEthernet1/0/5
    switchport access vlan 31
    switchport mode access
    dot1x pae authenticator
    dot1x port-control auto
    dot1x guest-vlan 35
    dot1x auth-fail vlan 35
    end
This should NOT keep a non-1x machine from accessing the network forever. With the above, and default timers, it's a 90-sec timeout of 802.1X. You can tweak the tx-period and the maz-reauth-req variable to get this down to 2-sec if you wish. If you remove 802.1X, then this should also not discard packets. If the 2 items above are truly occurring, then you have hit a software bug, and a TAC case should be opened immediately. Are you sure something like DHCP just hasn't timed out on you though?
NOTE: The config above has vlan 35 for the guest-vlan being equal to the auth-fail-vlan based on you stating the need for this above. It could be different than the guest-vlan if you wanted it to be. Either/both could be the same vlan as what's statically configured on the port as well [31].
    Hope this helps,

Yes we can configure ISE alarms and send email notification as well

  • Adding CALDAV (iCal) accounts = failing

    Hello!
We have a private server here (we're a small company) and have just upgraded to Snow Leopard on it and all of our individual machines. Additionally, everyone's iPhones are running 3.0 or higher, which supports CALDAV integration (or, so we've been led to believe) that we were really excited to finally et to implement. But we are having major issues.
When I go to: (in the phone) settings>mail, contacts, calendars>add account>other>add caldav account and then proceed to input all of our calendar information using the same information we used to setup our desktop calendars so we know the information is valid (we all have individual ical accounts on the server) then hit 'next' I keep (and so does everybody else) getting an error message saying "caldav account verification failed". EVERY TIME.
We know for a fact that we're inputting the correct information because we'll put in the same information on iCal on a laptop when adding a new account, and it works just fine.
(Back to the iPhone) Even though the verification failed, it will still give me the option to save, so when I tap that, I get another message saying "This account may not be able to sync calendars. Are you sure you want to save?". That defeats the purpose of trying to add a caldav account to my iphone, but whatever, I'll hit save.
Then, after the account is added, a dialogue box keeps popping up saying "Password Incorrect" and asking me to input it again. I do and wait a second and then it keeps doing it over and over and over again regardless of my having already inputted the correct password every time.
Can somebody help me with this?

    We aren't using MobileMe either.
