If your iPhone is locked to a wireless provider, only that wireless provider
can unlock it. Contact the wireless provider in Hong Kong to see if they
offer unlocking and if you qualify.
If your iPhone is locked to an AppleID that you do not know, return it for
a refund as it is useless. Only the person whose AppleID was used for
activation can remove the lock. There is no workaround for Activation Lock.
If neither of the above is what you are facing, provide more detail so someone
    may offer a solution.

Inserting a SIM card does not lock a phone.
If the device is carrier locked, the only way to unlock it is to contact the carrier to whom it is locked.

Sell the German iTunes card to someone who can use it in the German
AppStore and use the money to buy a card for the Hong Kong store.
iTunes cards are only valid in the country of original purchase. You cannot
use a German card in Hong Kong.

  • Have UK credit card & billing address, live in Hong Kong - any good?

I apologise if this has come up before (I did search the forum first) - but I would like to know if I can use iTunes UK Store on a Hong Kong IP address/Windows computer by using my British credit card, which has a British billing address. Any help appreciated.

Probably. I don't have access to the terms of service for iTunes from this computer. However, Apple does apparently reserve the right to use things such as IP addresses to determine if there is fraudlent territorial access. And, there are anecdotal reports that IP address restrictions have been used to prevent the rental of movies outside the U.S. even by legitimate U.S. account holders. Given that you have both a legitimate U.K. credit card and billing address, you should be within the terms of service but you should read them your self. If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the main iTunes Store window, you can change the store to the UK store and then click on the Terms of Service link at the very bottom.

  • TS3297 iTunes puts up a message "The item you've requested is not currently available in the Hong Kong Store." I had not requested anything from the HK store at that point, and I have never used any store other than the HK one. How I can clear that messag

I've been running iTunes on WinXP for years with few problems.  I have all my iTunes files on an external USB drive. I just bought a new PC running Win7, 64-bit.
I connected the external USB drive to the new PC and installed 64-bit iTunes on it. When iTunes started up, I pointed it at the iTunes directory in the external drive, using Edit > Preferences > Advanced > iTunes Media Folder Location. It showed a progress bar that it was updating the iTunes Library. I signed in and authorized the new machine. I have one spare authorization.
Then iTunes put up a message "The item you've requested is not currently available in the Hong Kong Store." I had not requested anything from the HK store at that point, and I have never used any store other than the HK one.
When I click OK, the iTunes Store page remains blank, apart from saying "iTunes Store" in the middle of the page.
I went to "View My Account" and pressed the Reset button to "Reset all warnings for buying and downloading items", but that doesn’t fix this particular warning. I also tried Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Reset Warnings and Rest Cache.
But still, every time I click the “App Store” button in the iTunes Store window, the message appears. If I click the Books, Podcasts or iTunesU buttons, these display normally.  So I’m stuck with being unable to purchase apps, other than through my iPad and iPhone.
If I move the external drive back to the XP machine, the same thing happens.  If I go to another PC - a notebook running Vista - everything is normal.
Any idea how I can clear that message?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Further info on my question above.
I have tried re-validating my credit card, which apparently fixed it for some.
I have also tried uninstalling, re-downloading and installing again.
Neither of these steps fixed the problem.

  • Should I purchase CDMA or GSM iPhone for use in U.S. and Hong Kong/China?

I currently have an unlocked GSM iPhone 4 that I bought in Hong Kong, and have been using it in the US through Straight Talk. I love having the flexibility of an unlocked phone when I travel. Unfortunately, the GSM networks in my area are pretty spotty, and Verizon's CDMA coverage is MUCH better. Not to mention the data speed is really slow.
I'd like to purchase an unlocked iPhone 5s without a contract, and hopefully be able to use it on the CDMA network here in america, while still have GSM available for use when I travel back and forth to Asia.
The pros and cons of GSM vs. CDMA iPhones are still pretty muddy for me, but it sounds like buying a CDMA iphone would be better for my situation because I could utilize both networks when traveling, and yet have the best speed/coverage in my current home in the US.
Straight talk or Page Plus is what I'm looking to for carriers. Verizon's too expensive for me.
    Here are my questions:
    1. Does my choosing CDMA seem to be the best choice? Or are there any cons regarding purchasing CDMA that I've overlooked? I've heard people say there is no such thing as an unlocked CDMA iphone. My biggest concern is that I arrive in Asia and find that some CDMA lock prevents me from using any other carrier--CDMA or GSM. (Both networks are available there, btw.) I need to make sure I can use data and make calls when I'm there.
    2. If a CDMA iphone is the best choice for me, how do I purchase the right one without a contract? Apple store? Verizon? Straight Talk (do they sell CDMA iphones)?Canada? Ebay seems kinda risky to get an iPhone with the specifications I need.
    3. Does a CDMA iphone still have the slot for sim cards? That's how I've always switched carriers when in Asia.
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know that StraightTalk disabled their iphone's GSM capabilities. Guess I won't be going there to buy one.
    A few follow-up questions...
So is a SIM slot only used for GSM? This is something I never knew. I assumed for any network (GSM or CDMA) that a new sim card was the way you changed numbers/networks.
I've heard people mentioning that they've been able to buy Verizon iphones and use them on PagePlus, but this information was a year or two old, so perhaps things have changed with the newer models/carrier contracts. Do you know of any people who have had success in using a Verizon iPhone 5s on the PagePlus network?

  • If I buy an iphone 5 in the US (e.g. unlocked Verizon's version), can I use it in other countries such as Hong Kong?

If I buy an iphone 5 in the US (e.g. unlocked Verizon's version), can it be used in other countries such as Hong Kong simply by change the SIM card?
    Thank you!

I'm not sure why you think a Verizon phone is unlocked?  All iPhones sold in the US are carrier locked.

  • I live in Hong Kong and i want to buy a iphone...HOW????

i know a shop where you an buy iphones but i just need to know that is it necessary to have a A&T account? can i just use a SIM card?

Since the iPhone has not been officially introduced in Hong Kong, using it requires the phone to be hacked, and any discussion of this violates the forum's TOC.

  • How to Contact Hong Kong Apple Store

I have to contact Hong Kong Apple Store regarding Case Program. However, all lines are busy day by day and hour by hour even I have been waiting for over 1 hour in their phone system without contacting their staff. I have tried the following lines:
    Apple On-line Store 800-908-988
    Office 2506-8888
    Technical Support 2112-0099
    Any other contacting channels?
How come their customers cannot contact them?

I'm having the same problem. I have lodged an order for iMac and submitted my credit card details for Citibank installments approval. After wait for 2 weeks, there is none responses. I don't know if my application is successful or cancelled. Furthermore, the student offer of giving out FREE ipod touch is over, there's no way I can get an answer.
Hey Chris, I have another direct line 800-930-748. You can try your luck there.
    So disappointed!

  • New Director and GM in Hong Kong

I do notice that there is a new Director and GM to be chaired the office in Hong Kong, I hope she will look into the problems which HP operate in Hong Kong.
As a customer, being a small business operator, I bought one new printer model HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless last year, it claimed it is of the best for small business, however, this is a nuisance to me for buying this model, the printer, after I have used it for 2 months, the paper always jamed , HP end up replaced me with another printer for an identical model. the replacement model got a small defect, from time to time, my documents always has some problem for the print out quality.
anyhow, I kept call up the technical backup office, nicely, they all talk to me over the phone and instruct me step by step as to find out the problem. it happened to be a rountine defect check up practice from time to time, anyway,  it is one year now, my problem is still not solve, I have wasted lotsof time for calling the technical office for my printer's defect.
I call the Hong Kong office and wanted to lodge in an complaint (35593111), the girl say if my case is urgent, HP will answer my complaint within 2 days, I do not expect I got an immediate answer, but I don't think it is acceptable for waiting to days 2 lodge in an complaint, how come it need to wait for 2 days until there is someone could listen my problem, and I am not abuse the complaining system, the defect has bother me for nearly one full year and I still have to wait for 2 days until someone is free to attend my problem.
besides, I remember last year I did told the HP office about their hotline voice message , the tone is too low, it is quite difficult to hear what number to press, Customerlization : press 1 press 2 press 1 ....... this is terrible, I don't mind to listen to the tape what to press and get the right man to answer my problem, the voice is just too low, well, 1 year on, the same tape is still running,
I think the management, there is some problem, firstly, the backup service, it is train to answer problem, they are polite, however, it matter not whether the problem is slove or not,  they just answer with you very polite,
each time, I have to tell them what model I bought, what is the problem,..... they will instruct me to perform a cleansing up procee, ........................ I have called the technical support for over the year with the same problem, they hardly bother solve it, nor they followed my record and see what they could do to solve my problem.
I do believe that my printer is a defect one, there is no point to keep calling up the office and waste my time and repeat and repeat telling the office what is the problem with the machine,
the worse thing is the office girl who answer the phone, she told me that HP will call me within 48 Hours (Urgent case), I just wonder what if HP office consider my case is not urgent, will they call me after one month later??????
from the website, I do know that there is a new Director, Ms Cally Chan will head the Hong Kong Office, I hope she will look into their backup service, pollite could not slove the problem, it is only a conversation skill really, and lastly, the girl say if my case is urgent, HP will answer my call within 2 days, I think this is terrible, as a small business in operation, 2 days is not acceptable, what I did, I only kept printed out my documents, hopefully, I got a perfect one, instead of waiting and waiting your man in the office to call me, this is an insult to your own company product.

Yes you can. It will be very expensive since any phone purchased in the US is locked to AT&T and will NOT work with any other company's SIM card.

Do you still have a Canadian credit card and Canadian billing address? If so, you should still be able to use the Canadian store.
