Cards on multiple platforms--& their add-ons, permutations & complications.

hi there.
i am having a dreadful time trying to network a mac & a pc. there are numerous variables, any of which make things even more confusing. all we want to do is connect both machines to the internet via my imac, my airport & our att dsl line. no go. no idea. the specs are these:
hardware/software
_mine, which runs the base station_
• imac 6,1 running 10.5.4
• wireless card: *AirPort Extreme*, 0x14E4, 0x87-->these numbers are beyond me but included if anyone needs them; firmware version: BCM43xx 1.0-->more numbers, ibid, can post if needed.
• wireless device: *AirPort Express*, initially for a different imac, this was bought a few months previous to the purchase of my current imac. the software has been updated to the current version, 5.3.2/532.8
i do run filevault.
i usually run my machine w/ heavy security. however, due to the networking issue, i am running it, as they say, insecure, although i so dont like to do this. no security businesses, more or less, has helped one iota.
this machine needs to communicate w/:
_his, which doesnt run the base station_
• *HP Media Center PC*, bought a year ago last january. i wish i could tell you the model number; however, its owner is so frustrated w/ being unable to be networked that, at this particular moment, i do not want to ask. i can ask later, as needed, redux.
• this pc runs two harddrives. it also runs *windows xp professional* as, at the time of purchase & perhaps to this day, far too many of the programs & externals the musician who owns it needs to run are not compatible w/ windows vista. this, itself, has been a long, long nightmare--one which perhaps contributes to the abovenoted frustration.
• wireless card: *linksys WMP300N*. as for driver version-->ibid re pc model number--aka--i know not. however, i have read that there is a problem in general w/ networking linksys & airports. i have not, however, read or at least understood, how to fix this problem.
• there are many externals attached to this machine--from keyboards for not only typing but for playing like a piano, along w/ pro-tools interfaces, etc & ect. i do not think these complicate the networking issue.
then again, i am so lost i could be completely, um, wrong.
that would be about it for the hard, the soft, the firm, etc & ect, redux redux.
okay.
1/ +how in h-e-double-toothpicks do i get these two computers to communicate w/ one another?+
i have no problem whatsoever using my airport w/ my imac. i am typing to you via its interactions w/ our dsl line.
he of the pc, otoh, cannot even see it--not my mac, not the network-->zip zilch zed nil. the house network does not appear in his list of networks. i should say that once it did, but only for a second, then sank sans trace & has yet to surface.
we live in an industrial area near mid-city los angeles. one would not think koreatown housed any many blocks where people worked but where nobody lived--but if we did not live in our place above a factory, this would, in fact, be true. therefore there are no other wireless networks for his pc to see--nor my mac. but my mac sees my airport & its network fine. it has every time i have reset/reconfigured it-->problem-free.
2/ +are there problems getting macs & pcs to see one another over an airport?+
2a/ if so, what do i do about it?
2b/ if not, & it is the linksys card, what do i do about that?
3/ +is there any software that will ameliorate my communications problem or must i go out & buy another router?+
i had no problem networking a mac & pc over our last wireless router--i did, however, have a serious nightmare when its virtual wireless walls were hacked. i do not look forward to buying another wireless router, although we have moved from density to metaphorical concrete desert so its hacking shouldnt really be a consideration.
i am sorry for extraneous information. i wasnt certain what was necessary so threw in what i thought might even be slightly important. it was the writer in me that included possibly too much scene-setting. it is also probably the writer in me who cannot begin to comprehend how to fix this whole business. i apologize greatly for my confusion.
w/ much thanks in advance for any help,
please,
sign me,
lost

Adele,
The new connection method for reducing the amount of memory used is only available with 2007A.  You are correct that the first add-on to connect with take the 50 - 60 Meg of RAM, but subsequent add-ons will take ~1.5 Meg assuming that all add-ons are using the new connection method for the DI API.  This means that ALL add-ons must use the new connection method to receive the memory benefits.
The SDK Help Center documentation for 2007A covers this topic.  It does require a change to your code, but it is minor.

  • Suggestions and add ons

i am quite happy with 3.6.25 and haven't updated because when I last tried, perhaps v7 or v8, it told me a number of my plugs in would not work, especially my Citicard virtual card number plug in. It seems like you would want to make sure all plugs ins would work with newer versions.
Also, a comment about the new version numbering. I find it confusing and misleading. It made much more sense to change the leading digit with MAJOR updates and then to use the following digits after the decimals to indicate minor changes. I don't like the new system.

Some add-on developers are able to keep up with the changes in Firefox, provide timely updates for their add-ons, and strive to keep their users happy.
Other add-on developers seem to take many weeks after a new version release to fix their stuff, instead of testing and fixing their crap during the 6 week Beta period where no major changes are made (''reactive vs proactive'' or '''''whoa, another release, already vs I'm a professional and know about the new Firefox release schedule and value the Firefox users who use my add-on''''').
And a few add-on developers haven't done a damn thing as far as updating their stuff beyond the 3.6 versions of Firefox ''(as has happened with every major version Firefox release since 2004)''. IMO, they are too chicken to just say that they are unwilling to continue providing add-ons for Firefox, due to the Rapid Release schedule.

  • I'm running V-6.0 And am trying to fix my add-ons and your web site keeps telling me I'm running Ver.- 3.0.16 Whats the problem?

Trying to download the compatibility reporter and it says I'm running Ver. 3.0.16 and that I need Ver. 9.0a1. What???? I just upgraded to Ver. 6.0 also when I tried to submit feedback It said I needed to upgrade to Ver. 6.0 but I already did!!! I think it might be time to try Google Chrome! All the people I recommended firefox to are no longer using it because their add-ons no longer work. Running Windows XP

Make sure iTunes is up to date and try again.

  • Parental control add-ons won't work on android

according to my android phone i have tried to download multiple, parental-control add-ons but they all tell me it is not compatible with Firefox 34.0.1
what can I do? I tried updating firefox but they keep telling me it's up to date.

Extensions at addons.mozilla.org that are made for Android Firefox are in https://addons.mozilla.org/android/
The extensions for desktop Firefox on Windows, Mac OSX and Linux are listed in https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ . Though if you look at Version Information at bottom of a extension page it may list Android Firefox as compatible also if the author has done so.
You can change section on top where it says "Other Applications".

  • Add-ons Not available for Firefox for android

I was installing add-ons for a new phone (4.4.4 KitKat) and noticed that almost all add-ons (including featured add-ons, such as Phony, QuitNow, Adblock Plus, etc.) are "Not Available for Firefox for Android", with the Add to Firefox button greyed out.
I don't remember I had such a problem installing add-ons on my old phone. Is it that I have to wait for the developers to update their add-ons or there is something wrong with my new phone?
    Thank you.

I just read that we are experiencing an issue with the addons.mozilla.org site where Firefox for Android is blocked from installing extensions. I don't have a time frame for it to be resolved. Though I will try to update this thread when the problem is fixed.

  • "Upgrades" make many "NEEDED" Add-ons STOP Working! (ie Kaspersky Pwd Mgr, FEBE, No-Script, Skype, and MANY More wont work!) Why is this? I fear the ppl who write the Add-Ons will become frustrated and will stop. Plz email me- Thx

Im not sure what other details I can give you, that would be pertinent. email me and ask me what you will .. and Ill be happy to oblige you. But having suggested Firefox to many of my clients (I owned a Computer Sales and Service (STORE - not a basement operation) for over 15 yrs and even on our New Computers, FIREFOX is what we installed and recommended! Many of my old clients now (Had to close the business last year due to a number of factors) call me at home and are asking me the same question. Why wont my ADD-ONS work with Firefox. Firefox tells me to Upgrade to the new one, and suddenly we cant get .... (their add ons) to work.
I know Kaspersky was another product we sold a lot of, so their password managers are no longer working properly. More specifically their AUTO FILL function will not load when a new web page is loaded, thus the person can not access their bank acct, etc ... as they were dependent on Kaspersky to do all the remembering for them!

Can you buy add ons to a game on iphone5s with an itunes gift card ? Thank you

If you mean in-app purchases, yes, in most cases a gift balance will work. Some apps do not accept gift balances, but I've not heard of a game where that is the case.

  • Connection from Multiple Add-Ons

    Good evening all,
I have read about a possibility that a new connection method will be released with version 2007 that would allow add-ons to not use 70+MB ram, but only the first add-on would use that and not subsequent add-ons won't.
We have a client that's running 5+ add-ons developed by various companies including mine. They are very concerned about the memory usage. Is there a way for each of these companies to change their connection to SBO DI API and make the memory usage less.
We have confirmed that we all use the standard single sign on method.
    Your input is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Adele

  • How to hide (not disable) one or multiple extension(s) in Add-ons Manager?

I have installed Play Music 1.6 on my computer. However, this extension shows up in the Add-ons Manager of my computer. I don't want anyone to be able to see the description nor disable this extension. My nephews use my computer frequently and I want to make sure they are not going to inappropriate websites.

Note that you still see the extension on the "Help > Troubleshooting Information" page and that starting in Safe mode will disable it like all other extensions (i.e. starting with Shift pressed is sufficient).

  • Good morning, my name is Robert. I am a craigslist user and I cannot open to their reply button. Craigslist is saying that its add-ons that should take care of.

this issue....I do not believe them. I never had this problem...ever with firefox, or IE8 or AOL for that matter - I did everything in my power...I tried everything else...youtube, loopnet, ebay, indeed.com - I have no problems with them - I sign in with o problems and can carry my business accordingly...
I have Windows XP....could there be a registry issue that is causing this....should I uninstall firefox completely and reinstll that latest firefox?
    Thank you

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

  • "You don't have any add-ons of this type installed." despite having multiple add-ons

Since upgrading to FF 8.0.1, I get the above message when I attempt to access Add-ons, Extensions on my iMac, despite having a number of different extensions installed, all of which appear to be actively working. The problem does NOT appear on my Macbook Pro, also running FF 8.0.1. Both systems have OS X 10.7.1 running. I have tried restarting FF, rebooting, and, of course, clearing the cache.

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
    See "Corrupt extension files":
    *https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons
If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to do a compatibility check or see if there is a compatibility update available.

  • How can I download multiple YouTube video files SEQUENTIALLY (not simultaneously, the way all the downloader add-ons I've tried do it)? Thanks.)

The more download streams I get going at the same time, the slower each stream gets. Rather than waiting for [all] of them to download before I can watch [any] of them, I would rather have them download one at a time - each in it's turn taking all the bandwidth so as to download as quickly as possible. When the first is done, the downloader would automatically start the next download, etc. Like the way the playlist works in VLC Media Player or Windows Media Player.
Seems like an obvious thing for people to want to do. I have a couple theories on why downloader add-ons do not offer this. Curious to know if I'm right about it. Thanks for your help.

    HI Invent,
In fact, there is a way to donwload one video by one, at least in the add-on I know and use (Video Download Helper - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper)
There, you have to configure it in the Add-on Menu, clicking the the 'Options' button of Video Download Helper, then in the window that pops up you choose "Services" , then 'Download' tab and change the first field (probably called 'Download Mode' in English - I have it here it here in Portuguese now), change it to 'One by one'
If you have doubts in the process, just let me know and I will try to clarify it to you.
    Hope it helps.
    Best Regards,
    Marcus

  • Add-ons in Extension Manager cc incorrectly shown in Photoshop cc 2014

I started with Photoshop cc and downloaded several Add-ons which I used, particularly Adobe Watermark. When Photoshop cc 2014 was released we realised that the majority of these Add-ons would not work in this new edition of Photoshop. Consequently I have to also run Photoshop cc as well to allow me to use these Add-ons.
If I open Adobe Extension Manager, and select under Products I see a list of all the Add-ons that work in Photoshop cc, which is correct. However if I select Photoshop cc 2014 I see a long list ( 16 Add-ons) which have enabled ticked by the side of the name. Only 5 of these actualy show  in Photoshop cc 2014, so something is wrong here.
I assume that Adobe Watermark is an Adobe product, so when are Adobe going to sort this out, and the problem in Adobe Extension Manager?

From the screenshots you have sent, we can see that not of all of those items that are installed under Extension Manager->Photoshop CC 2014 are accessible from the Window->Extensions menu in Photoshop. Some of them are Actions for example such as the ones by Panos, and Canvas Wrap is accessible from the File->Scripts menu.
For Edge FX, it is not compatible with CC2014, but there is a new Edge FX Pro version which supports CC 2014, available here: https://creative.adobe.com/addons/products/3189#.VEeJ--eSlS0.
Adobe Watermark and Watercolor Assistant have compatibility with only CS6 and CC, so it is likely that you have had most of these extensions installed for a very long time before their compatibility criteria was updated a few months back following the launch of CC2014. The best solution to tidy things up may be to uninstall all of your extensions from Extension Manager, then log on to the Addons website and click into 'My-Add-ons', then download the products again which will ensure you are receiving the latest versions and only the CC 2014 compatible ones. From that page you will also see at a glance the 'Where to Find it' information for accessing all of the extensions within Photoshop.
Russell Brown and his team internally who put together the Photoshop extensions are working on CC 2014 compatible updates to the Adobe extensions that you have, so we hope to see an update to them in the near future. If you would like to use them just now before they are updated to support CC2014, you can use them with Photoshop CC (or CS6). It is possible to have multiple versions of Photoshop installed on your computer, and as you are a CC member, all previous versions are accessible to you. You simply use the CC Desktop App to install older versions of Photoshop. To do this, launch the CC Desktop App and click on the 'APPS' tab, then scroll down until you see 'Filters & Versions'. Select this, then choose 'Previous Version'.
Hope this helps but please get back in touch if you have further queries.

  • My firefox version is 3.6.12, however I cannot download any add-ons cause it says I am still using version 2, and it is the same for website such as youtube where it is always saying I am using a outdated browser. How do I solve this?

I keep updating my firefox whenever it prompts me to, and now I am using version 3.6.12, but I still cannot download any add-ons or have problem using youtube cause they still says I am using a older version of the browser.
But when I go Help > About Mozilla Firefox, I am sure I have the latest version and no more updates can be found.

You have or had an extension installed (MegaUpload toolbar) that has changed the user agent from Firefox/3.6.12 to Firefox/2.0.0.13
You can check the general.useragent prefs on the about:config page:
    * general.useragent.extra.firefox Firefox/2.0.0.13 MEGAUPLOAD 1.0
You can open the about:config page via the location bar, just like you open a website.<br />
    Filter: general.useragent<br />
If general.useragent prefs are bold (user set) then you can right-click that pref and choose Reset.
See [[Web sites or add-ons incorrectly report incompatible browser]] and [[Finding your Firefox version]]<br />
    See also http://kb.mozillazine.org/Resetting_your_useragent_string_to_its_compiled-in_default
Your above posted system details show multiple Java Console extensions.<br />
You can uninstall (remove) the Java Console extensions and disable the Java Quick Starter extension, you do not need them to run Java applets.
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#Multiple_Java_Console_extensions
See also http://www.java.com/en/download/help/quickstarter.xml - What is Java Quick Starter (JQS)? What is the benefit of running JQS? - 6.0
Disable the Java Quick Starter extension: Tools -> Addons -> Extensions
Control Panel -> Java -> Advanced tab -> Miscellaneous -> Java Quick Starter (disable)
You should update the [[Java]] plugin (Java Plug-in 1.6.0_12) to the latest version (6 U22).
