Career Center Forum

Hi Moderators!!
I got a mail saying that one of my posts has been moved to Career Center forum from Suggestions and Comments forum. But, I am not able to access Career Center Forum.
Are there any restrictions on who should access the forum??If there are,what is the criteria to be elgible to access that forum??

Now that the Career Center is launched - and even auto-magically preannounced - we are all excited about the expanded functionality and engagement opportunity this brings to our communities.
In the University Alliances Community, we intend to advertise and promote heavily to our hundreds of thousands of engaged students what it means to them to upgrade their lifetime business and IT skills with SAP. Internships during their study period and entry-level job offers at graduation are important benefits that the community now can bring to them.
I hope you all will engage students in the dialogue of your various discussions and help sessions. You will be thrilled with their contributions to you parallel to their learning from you.
Let's ramp up the number of internships and jobs advertised and get the communication going towards long-term job opportunities and career development.

Career center points

Dear sirs,
I wonder why:
1) points are not awarded for career center forum. I don´t care about it, but it would help a lot to increase the activity and hopefully a quality of feedback in this forum (in my opinion).
2) same questions - about points - about the Career blogs
I wanted to check the http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/topcontributors who is the top contributor for Careers category on SAP SDN, expected Kishan or (of course !!) Jon Reed or some other guys answering frequently. Didn´t find anything. If there is a reason why the career things are not awarded, would be nice to know. Please share,

I am replying to your question even though I am a ma'am (and not a sir as addressed).
1. When the forum was created it was decided to do so without points. There are others without points too. Perhaps it should be rethought however do take into account that while points can certainly increase activity, they can also lower quality. It is always a balance.
2. Career blogs are awarded points however the points are awarded to the point category selected. There is no career point category. There are around 40 point categories for all SCN content. Not every topic has its own category.
But still for those active in a forum, they will know who the top contributors are in their forum (as you do) and I agree with you that they are deserving of recognition.

How to logon to the Career Center using you SCN username and password

We all know how painful it is to have to create yet another username and password for a site, well for the Career Center you don't have to. We are working to have single sign on between SCN and the Career Center but until that time or if you navigate directly to the Career Center site you can log on using your SCN username and password via OpenID. Here is how.
First, ensure you have set an OpenID username in your SCN profile.
Then go to the Career Center http://scncareercenter.jobtarget.com and click
"Access Your Job Seeker Account" for job seekers OR
"Access Your Employer Account" for employers
At the bottom of the login box, besides "Have an OpenID?" click on the "Sign In" link
In the box type
http://openid.sap.com/your_open_id_name_from_your_SCN_profile
and click Login.
You will be taken to another page on SCN requesting you to login (if you haven't already) and finally approve the JobTarget OpenId login request.
Viola, you are then brought to your personal account on the Career Center. If this is your first time use, you may need to fill out some necessary pieces for the Career Center account profile.
Update 24.08.09: We are having some intermittent OpenID issues, will update the post when it is resolved

I got in easy on my end and actually just upgraded last week.
Only thing I can think of is its a server issue on Verizon's end. I know they have many servers that people are redirected to, but dont know how it all works.
Have you all tried using different broswers and still got the same message? If so its almost guaranteed its on their side.

When accessing the quality center forum it should;
A) Be indexed in your available groups
B) When accessed, allow posting instead of being read-only when logged in.

Problems Accessing iPhone Dev Center Forums

Once I log into the iPhone Dev Center. I want to go the forums so I click the "Apple Developer Forums Beta" link. It seems like it does a couple redirects and then I end up at: http://developer.apple.com/
It seems to then log me out. Anyone else having problems getting to the forums?

Unlike the Apple Discussions forums, the Developer Forums Beta is only open to "iPhone Developer Program members and ADC Premier and Select Members". Info about these (paid) memberships is linked to the page you're being redirected to as well as the iPhone Dev Center home page.
If you've already been accepted into the iPhone Dev Program, but are being misdirected, try the direct forum link: [https://devforums.apple.com>.

I am thinking of persuing SAP SD. Kindly help me to know it prospect, as you have already done SAP SD. I am B.Sc (Computer Science) and I have yrs exp in banking (Customer Servive, Operation and Quality Audits). Will it be good for me to go for SAP SD today or should I go for any other module. Business Information Management - Quickbase, Basecamp, etc.

I work with international trade with dozens of customers and factories, hundreds of contacts, and at any moment in time there may be dozens if not hundreds of projects I need to manage, from quotes to production to shipments and deliveries.
Recently I became aware of a new class of web based Business Information Management software, like Quickbase or Basecamp, that allow you to create projects on line, invite project team members, schedule events and deadlines, etc.
Part of what attracts me to these solutions is that it organizes communication on a project by project basis. Searching through e-mail threads to find an e-mail from a customer that changed the spec on a product 3 months ago (when the subject line had nothing to do with the spec change) is a not infrequent event that consumes a lot of time.
Any thoughts out there regarding better and more efficient ways to use Mail (I haven't yet used the search features or Smart folders very well) and any thoughts on those of you who have used some of these web based project management systems? One of my largest customers is starting to use Quickbase and they have become addicted to the power of managing their purchasing team and deadlines.

Job Prostect for Fresher in ABAP

Hi All,
Please let me know what is the job prospect for freshers in ABAP as I am going through the certification for ABAP from Siemens. I have been going through the forums and is it really hard for a fresher to fetch a job in SAP market.

Hi,
the certification is no help to get a job; in reality it is a way to cheat ignorant consultants and potential clients by SAP telling both that the consultant is an expert in programming with ABAP, when he is not.
I have more than 13 years working with SAP as a developer (10 years out of it as consultant) and so far no client has ever asked me whether I am certified (which I am not). On the contrary, I have had certified developers (also at Siemens) that come to me asking for help when they are stucked in a problem; I notice how ignorant they are after a 4 month course for learning ABAP.
The only winner with the certification is SAP, because you have to pay for the participation in the exam whether you pass or not. In the exam you have to answer 100 questions regarding theory ... and you don´t write a single line of code. A good consultant you´ll be with much theory and no practice !!
Another problem in the market is that all companies search for senior consultants ..... and they want to pay salaries for junior or even worse, for trainees.

Please dont ignore my question has it is very crucial for me to have access for SAP.
I have some functional experience with SAP while working has business development officer. Now i would like to change my career has full time SAP SD Consultant.
Need to some hands on practice, i.e, configuring SAP ERP ( SD BOOK ) by SYBEX.
please advise me how / where to find / get SAP server access to pratice / configure.
