Carefull with Nokia from now on!!!

Nokia N8 dont press too hard on Menu button ! The bottom cover will crack right from the 2 screws. Also Nokia company in Romania sucks big time. I call the free 800 XXX.... number at Nokia call center to ask them where is the service. The lady there give me the information, ask me the IMEI of my phone and told me is OK and original, then she ask me to stay on the phone to take a survey, but I nicely deny her because I was in a hurry. Same day I went to Nokia service and they check the phone, the IMEI and then they say the parts have to order because are not in stock. Next day I went there parts were in but after 15minutes of waiting they told me this IMEI have been taken off warranty. JUST LIKE THAT! and that they only can fix it only if I pay. I ask them for what reason they take my phone out of warranty because even if I did not show them a invoice the phone did not even have one year since it came out on market, also the phone was not stolen, they say it may be refurbished. But if this was the reason I wander why Nokia when they refurbish a phone dont put a message on the screen so phone dont sale as new or why they dont update the IMEI status before they release the phone. I purchase the phone in December 2010 few months after release, I dont think they have refurbished then. I call Nokia again and a guy that pretend is manager he told me laughing I am lucky I used the phone that long and I can buy a new one, he did not care of any responsibility for the brand and that I am good faith client that purchase the phone from a legal company....you people decide further if trust Nokia from now on. I think this people from call center deactivate my warranty just because I did not take the survey.

    The issue of firmware on operator-variant models is a common sore point on these boards.
    Unfortunately, Nokia's hands are tied. The operators have to approve new versions of the software before they can be applied to any phone sold to them by Nokia as their own variant.
    You will probably find that the operators' customer service staff are trained only to give advice on network services, if you want answers on issues other than that you need to locate the operator's head office and pester them. If you are a contract customer, that address should appear on your bill.

    I got an address from Applecare, although I can't place my hand on it right now. I didn't bother persuing the letter route myself as I didn't expect much. I know that the location was Cork, Ireland though as that where the UK Applecare is based as far as I'm aware. The best thing to do is to call Applecare (if it's free) and discuss the issue. State that you are not happy wit the fact that you will have to pay to have the problem resolved especiiay if it is an ongoing problem that has not been resolved. I ended up speaking to a senior manager of the Applecare team who then proceeded to tell me about mailing in my grievence to customer services division or something like that.
    If I can find the address I may post it if I'm allowed.
    In the case of age, Schools usually have a 5-year life-cycle as they tend to be used differently than consumer machines, i.e. being used constantly on a daily basis for at least 12 hours with no break. you would expect issues to appear after a few years, but I expect problems that arise through defects to be resolved and stay resolved. As I mentioned we had machines for around 2 years before the lines appeared and sent them to be repaired. I'm happy with that. What I am unhappy about is the fact that the problem has reappeared exactly in the same way and now I'm left with around 7 machines that I either pay loads to repair or, the more likely replace the machines with newer ones since the age is now big enough to warrant the replacement.
    Sorry for the lengthy moan, but these are the reasons I purchased Apple ahrdware in the first place to avoid the "not our problem" stance some PC vendors  usually take, similar to the Dell monitors thread mentioned in here somewhere.

    I have firefox set to Open .wav files with VLC and i have the check box marked to "Do this automatically for files like this from now on." But every time i click download for a .wav voicemail from gmail, i get the same dialog box. I just want firefox to hand the downloaded file to VLC and play it. I don't want to have to click anything after i click the download link. Isn't that action what i'm telling firefox to do after i mark the checkbox with "Do this automatically with file like this from now on." ? Isn't that implied with my selection of the box? How can i fix this?i want to click a "download" link for a .wav voice mail in Gmail and have it automatically play in VLC without any further interaction from me.

    No it's saving the preferences and the check box remains checked from session to session. It will even continue to ask me to what to do with the file even in the same session when i try to download the same file again 5 seconds after i downloaded it the first time.

    If you look at the preferences for Flashblock (access from the extensions window of the add-ons manager) and choose Whitelist, you can add a site to that window, and that site will not be blocked by Flashblock at all. You will not even see the Flashblock icon.

    LarryHN is correct. The only way this message occurs is if the iPhoto Library database is upgraded to a newer version.
    You could try holding SHIFT-OPT-COMMAND when launching iPhoto from the dock and checking only "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" and hope it restores the previous database prior to the upgrade.
    If that doesn't work, you can install iPhoto '11 on your iPhoto '09 computer. If I understood the iPhoto '11 Mac App License agreeement correctly, you can install it on any personal, non-commerical computer you own running 10.5, 10.6 and 10.7.

    That app is made for the iPhone - the app will work on the iPad but is not specifically designed to take advantage of the larger screen.
    When searching for an app, look at the top of the screen for a button that says iPhone Apps. Tap on it to switch to apps meant for iPhone and Scramble with Friends should show up.

    Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
    This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.
