Carnet d'adresses (Address Book) in Snow Leopard (French) is in English

Hi,
I use Snow Leopard in French and for some reason Address Book is in English with the exceptions of the menus at the top which are in French. The window title says "Address Book", I have "Edit" instead of "Modifier", etc.
How can I fix this minor inconvenience?
Regards

Hi,
Try deleting this file.
com.apple.systemiuserver.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences.
Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your Mac.

  • My Address Book on Snow Leopard won't Search!

When I type something in on the search field on my address book in Snow Leopard, it won't filter out the search, meaning that nothing new will show up. It will act as if I didn't type anything into the search field at all since nothing changes. I already tried uninstalling the Address Book and reinstalling it from the Snow Leopard DVD but that didn't fix the problem. Any advice?

I just had this same problem. I use multiple mac computers that I sync manually because of a previous idisk issue. I noticed as I updated my cloud, the search function in address book quit working properly on each computer.
So created a new group list and I attempted to copy "All Contacts" into that group. It would not copy all my contacts into that group in one paste function. So I took all the the first 25 names and copied them. That worked. Then I moved to the next 26-50 names and so on. I noticed when I got to the fourth group of copying contacts that it did not paste and froze the application.
I quit address book, reopened it. All the contacts before the the fourth group were in the file. The search function worked on those names. I then went card by card and found one that had a "string" of data listed where an email address should I have been. So I deleted the corrupt card and now my address book search is working again.
Here is the short solve. Look for a corrupt card in your address book. I found the corrupt card by trying to copy it over to a new address group. The card that was corrupt just happened to be one that I had updated in the last week or so...
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I get Lion 10.7.5 to open Address book from Snow leopard 10.6

The Snow Leopard 10.6.3 address book is version 5.0.1. I don't know the version of the Lion 10.7.5 address book.

    Command + option + R
After 15 minutes of downloading from the web, it seems to do the same thing as:
    Command + R
in other words, it still wants to install Mountain Lion and not Lion.
    Any other thoughts?

  • Address Book in Snow Leopard: a real step backwards

    Hello everyone-
Is it just me, or has the UI to Address Book changed in Snow Leopard? I could swear that when I used to click a group (just a regular group, not a "smart group") that the 2nd column would have cards for each member of the group, and below the 2nd column would be + and - buttons. You could select a card and click - to remove that card from the group, and clicking + would pop up a list of all the cards and you could pick one to add to the group.
Now, clicking + creates a new blank card and there is no - button. To remove a card from the group, you must select it and hit the delete key, which pops up a window asking if you want to delete the card from the address book or remove it from the group.
Am I crazy in thinking this used to work better in Leopard? The current way it works is very clumsy IMO and very un-Apple. Yuch!

Frankly I don't see much discernibly different between Leo and Snow with regard to AB, iCal, or Mail except for the more advanced options.
Don't expect any major changes in future incremental updates. They will mostly squash bugs and provide security improvements, but AB, iCal, and Mail will not likely change in any major way. Whatever you believe AB was like in Leo versus Snow may be more in your imagination. As I said the functional interface is substantially the same.
I'm not sure why you would see Snow as being radically different from Leo because it isn't. The major changes are under the hood as the OS becomes more exclusively 64-bit, security is beefed up, bugs are squashed, and overall reliability is improved.

  • Need to update address book for snow leopard

I just recently downloaded the snow leopard to my Mac and now my address book icon says my version 4.1.2 does not work.
    How do I update?
    Thanks

I don't see how you could have downloaded Snow Leopard, when it's not available as a download and never has been.
    Please explain.

  • How do I delete contacts from address book in Snow Leopard OSX 10.6

I thought I had deleted some contacts from my Address Book but when I then typed in a similar name, all the old addresses came up as options. Can anyone help on this please?   I feel stupid having to ask something that is so simple.  Many thanks.

I think I may have found my own solution thank you.    I deleted a contact in the Address Book by using Edit and deleting all the contents from the card.
I also went to the WINDOW MENU and found 'Previous Recipients".   This brought up a whole list of people who had received or sent emails and I deleted the ones I didn't need and now when I start to type in an address in my email I only get the relevant options - not ones from way back.
This might just help somebody else.

  • How do I install my old my 2010 Mac book pro/ Snow Leopard 10.6.3 program on a power Mac G5 Desktop

How do I install my old my 2010 Mac book pro/ Snow Leopard 10.6.3 program on a power Mac G5 Desktop

A PowerPC G4 or G5 can't be upgraded past 10.5.8. If you're trying to install an application and not a newer Mac OS X version, check its system requirements and use the original disk or download.

  • So, I've taken my panasonic printer back to the shop and exchenged it for a Canon MF-4430. Alas... the generic drivers do not make it print. Is it possible to get drivers to make this canon printer work with my lovely Mac Book Pro Snow Leopard, 6.8?

I could not find a MF-4430 at the Canon site. Are you sure the model is correct? They have a MF4450. The Mac drivers are here:
    http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/imageclass _series/imageclass_mf4450#DriversAndSoftware
If you are sure you have a MF4430, look around the canon site for the drivers.

  • Had to restore my Mac Book with Snow Leopard. My i Life disc appears to be damaged, and I can't restore my iPhoto application. I have searched for downloads but all appear to be upgrades. Any ideas on how to restore iphotos

Given what you describe you will have to upgrade Snow Leopard by downloading and installing Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1. Then go to the App Store and sign in with your Apple ID. Purchase and download Mountain Lion to upgrade your OS. Then purchase the latest upgrades for the iLife applications which includes iPhoto.
Or you can go on eBay, Google, or Amazon and purchase another copy of the DVD based iLife.

  • I can't retrieve my address book data from G Drive to import to new addr book in Snow Leopard

I am really annoyed by Apple these days. Just had to purchase iwork and sundry other software after upgrading to Snow Leopard and the Lion on my system. Now, have just received my wife's iMac from being "fixed" the hard drive was brloken. It was supposed to have had Snow Leopard uploaded for me. It was not so I have just done that, however I can't get the address book fron the G Drive to upload to the new system. Each time I access the address book on the G drive I get a message saying that it is an old system (4.1.1) and will not open in this system. How do I get that data off the G Drive and onto the upgraded iMac?

Thank you for getting back to me.
I tried what you said. I moved my old address book file into my new hard drive but it still opens "empty".
When I look up my addresses in Spotlight it finds them and seems to recognize them at address book files but it doesn't want to open them. When I double click on them it opens address book but the not the file.
When I click on the file and look at "more info" on it, I can see the information is in there.
I don't want to loose all my contacts.
On a side note do you have any easy tips for backing up?
    Thank you again,
    Trent

  • How-to retrieve the address book of a Leopard CCC backup?

    Hi,
I have installed SnowLeopard and before doing so, I did a CarbonCopyCloner backup of Leopard. I forgot to export my address book of Leopard and now I want all my contacts back in the SnowLeopard address book. How can I do? What are the files I have to copy from my CCC backup to my new install to make them appear?
    Thank you.

My issue is that I did not want all the garbages that I had before in my account.
So, I just kept thefew interesting stuff, and that is it. Then I worked a little bit, and now that I want my contacts back, I cannot use this migration assistant anymore since it does not allow you to do a precise selection of what you want to import.
I have tested to copy all the adressbook dire tory as suggested, but it does not work.
Any other ideas ? or do you know how I can import all my Gmail contacts into this address book ?
    Thank you

  • How to change address book listings in Leopard not by first name first?

I was recently upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. Suddenly the names in my computer address book are listed by first names first, ALICE BROWN. How can I change this back to the way it used to be in Tiger, listing the last name first,, BROWN, ALICE ?

Open Address Book, select Preferences from the Address Book menu, click on the General icon in the toolbar. You can then change the sort and presentation order in the dialog.

  • "...cannot use the application "Address Book.app" with  'leopard.'...????

I get the message: "You cannot use the application “Address Book.app” with this version of Mac OS X. "What does this mean, wat do I do? Do I lose my address book.?

you can do the following to transfer your Tiger addressbookdata file to Leopard if none of your other countermeasures are working.
    Create a new folder and give it a name such as TigertoLeopard data or whatever;
    then drag your Tiger addressbook data file into that folder;
    add .abbu to the end of the name you gave that new folder;
remember where you placed the folder and use Leopard Mail import command.

  • How to import Tiger Address book data into Leopard?

How do I import the Address book data I had in Tiger, into Leopard. I backed up all my applications and the Application Support folder before I upgraded to Leopard but I can't find a way of importing the old data into the new program. I tried just copying the contents of the Address Book subfolder of Application Support but the new Leopard folder has completely different files in it....??
    Thanks
