Carriage jam, excessive start-up activities and rapid ink usage during start-up

Hi,
I've had a B110A for over 12 months now and every time I use the printer the following happens:
1) carriage jamming............. multiple times [up to 10 times] before it decides to print
2) Lots of roller movement before printing - forwards, backwards, slow, fast
3) lots of printer head cleaning before printing
This is the first HP product I'm getting really fed up with.
Also I get a message from W7 64 bit that the device is not properly installed and it cannot find a suitable device driver fom windows update
I've tried all the on-line HP solutions to no avail and getting nowhere
I am seriously minded to throw this device in the bin and - perhaps - move to another all-in-one make
Any help would be appreciated

Hi,
I can't answer your first question but for 2 and 3, both are the weak of inkjet printers, they all need to "drink" inks during start up to do many things including clean those print heads. One suggestion is to keep printer ON all the time to save inks but there is a trade off for this.
My suggestion: Go to this site to download driver and application and then reintstall it on your computer. Hope this helps:

  • Awful prints and rapid ink use

Hi I have an HP 8150 and have recently moved from PC to iMac. Print quality is poor and has got worse just recently, the colour's off, it's dull and often blotchy with horizontal lines through all prints.  Worse of all Im getting this awful quality and using ink very rapidly.  I'm onlly managing about 12 A4 colour print-outs to a £28 cartridge before it runs out.
I am not very techy  so need simple intructions please - and I have an important interview and need prints outs PDQ! Help! Thanks in advance.

    Hello Doblinski,
I see that when printing you're getting poor output with the printer and your iMac. I will try and help you with this.
To attempt to correct the issue you're having, I was able to pull up some documents that may be helpful to you.
    Wrong Colors
    Ink Smears or Streaks
Images are Fuzzy, Blurry, Jagged, or Grainy
Some of what the documents cover may be the same or similar. I recommend following them in the order listed, and doing all steps between the documents, even if you end up repeating one (outside of replacing cartridges). Between them, it covers the majority of would could be causing the output issue your seeing.
I hope that's able to help you out, thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • IPhone 5 suddenly using an excessive amount of data and my phone usage has not changed so why am i going over data 3 times this billing cycle?

My iphone 5 has been hogging data like crazy the past two months. I have not used my phone anymore than I normally do, in fact I would say I use it less often than normal. I have gone over the family share data limit of 15GB three times this billing cycle. The first time i had 121500 MB of data used. I thought it was rhapsody that was causing all of the data usage but my sister uses rhapsody on her iphone 5c and she hasnt gone over at all! So its not that. I decided I would turn OFF all cellular usage on apps like facebook, instagram, rhapsody, twitter, even MAIL! I am basically not able to use my phone outside of my house now which is NOT okay! I took screen shots of the cellular usage and at one point after I had completely shut off celluar data on all apps, i checked my cellular usage and DNS services, Mapping services, Data and syncing all had racked up data! I hadnt used any of those services! I also turned off all location settings and maps and siri! phone is still using data like crazy!
I saw in recent posts about this issue that Apple replaced peoples iphones because it was a bug in the phones software that was causing the data to go haywire! I have an upgrade but I dont want to use it if I dont have to! I also dont want to get another iphone 5 if this problem is happening with iphone 5's. I have not seen very many complaints about iphone 5c  so that might be the route I go.
I also restored my iphone last night cause I saw a discussion which said to try that. So far it is still using data and im on wifi!
Any suggestions as to what to do now?

  • Carriage Jammed... sticky ink...error

I have an Officejet J5780. It started out as once every ten print jobs, now it's after every print job, I get the "Carriage Jammed, clear jam and press OK" It is stuck on the right side (not left as the HP support instructions state) I've read all the forums I could find similar to mine, I have looked at the clear strip (encoding strip) it is clean. I think I have narrowed it down to this...
there is an excess of dried ink all over the gears of that tray that slides forward when the cartridges are in the clean position (I guess[?]) and the little tab thingy that the carriage "snaps" on when it is all the way to the right side is connected to those gears also with springs and gears. They are so gummed up, I think, the carriage is sticking on that little tab thingy on it's way back to the left side (where it hangs out after a print job). does this make sense? what can I do to break up the dried (really gooey and sticky and thick, not really dried hard) ink?
The ink's not just in the "spit" area, but above where it should be in those gears and springs.(this theory also makes sense as to why it is getting worse with time)

WD-40 worked, and I cleaned the encoding strip just in case.

  • HP 6940: carriage stuck at left side, resume and power lights flashing

I've used this printer under ubuntu/linux for about 2-1/2 years. Color printing has always been a challenge, I get about one usable page per 5 test pages. About a year ago, it stopped printing; hp-info (part of the hplip package) said the color cartridge was defective. I was able to get black&white printing by removing the color cartridge.
This week, I had to print some stuff in color. I pulled the color cartridge out of its ziplock, re-installed it, and ran a quick cleaning. A test print showed that wasn't enough, and I ran a full cleaning, after which I was able to print a good test page, and then one page of my job.
When I tried to print the second page, nothing happened, and the resume and power lights started flashing. I cycled power on the printer (I have to do this very frequently, even for black and white jobs), but it didn't fix the problem. I pushed resume, but no dice. I pulled the back cover to check for paper jams: nothing jammed. Replaced the back cover, pulled the paper from the tray: nothing jammed. Replaced the paper in the tray. Pushed resume again: it made noise, but didn't clear the problem.
I opened the lid, and the carriage was all the way to the left-hand side. Pushed resume: a small plate in the loading dock at the right-hand side moved forward and then back, but the carriage stayed at the left-hand side. Tried (gently) to move it to the right, but it's firmly in position.
    hp-info now says:
"status-desc                   Paper or cartridge carriage jammed"
The color cartridge is an HP cartridge, and came with the printer. The paper is HP paper.
    Any suggestions?

  • My photosmart C4580 keeps giving me a "carriage jam" mssg when I print from my Dell W7 laptop.

I have been having a problem for about a week now with a carriage jam issue.  I have a hp photosmart all in one c4580.  Everytime I go to print I get an error mssg, carriage jam.  I do not have a jam.  I signed on to my laptop last night and all of a sudden it started to print, only half a page but it did print.  When I tried to print again to get the full page it gave me the carriage jam error message.  I think it's a false positive message.  I don't have a paper or carriage jam.  The carriage moves freely by hand.  I have done all the things HP has suggested on the site and nothing works.  I had this same problem last year and it fixed itself after a time.  Now it's happening again.  Please help.

    Hi,
    Try watching this video -
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9x6ZLIYMog
     - and following the steps on your printer to see if you can resolve the issue.  This video should help to resolve false carriage jam error messages.  Make sure you have your printer connected directly to a wall outlet as well to ensure proper power.  The printer in the video is the Photosmart c4280 but the steps will be the same for your printer.

  • Officejet 7130 printer Carriage Jam

My Officejet 7130 All In One has experienced a jammed carriage. Yesterday when preparing to make some copies, I turned the unit on, as it went into the initializion process the carriage began to move and a grinding noise was heard. This was followed by a message on the display stating "Carriage Jam, open carriage door, clear jam, close door and press return." This was done. Now when trying to start the printer the carriage starts to move but when it gets almost to the right it is stopped again with the grinding sound.. The display now says "open door Latch the Carriage, close door and press return."  It appears that the carriage is blocked at about the location where the output tray guides are located and a white part just to its right.
How does one "Latch" the carriage?

    Hello,
If you see a belt out of its place, then its not a good sign. Hope it is not broken.
Is the belt translucent with lines on it ( similar to bar code lines ) ? if yes , then that could be a Encoder strip.
In either cases, the printer has to be serviced.
    I'd recommend 2 solutions ...
a> Take it to a near by HP Authorized center
    OR
b> If you are in USA, Call HP Tech Support to check if there is a Trade in option.
Please call HP Tech Support for further assistance.

  • HP Office Jet Pro 8500 Wireless carriage jam message.

I have an HP Office Jet Pro 8500 Wireless.  It is on a home wireless network and I am using a new HP laptop with Windows 7 (64-bit).  I am getting a carriage jam message that I cannot get removed.  Leading up to this, my son did have a paper jam and probably didn't get all the paper removed the first time around.  But I have checked thoroughly with a flashlight and there is now no paper anywhere in the carriage.  I have followed the video online and still have the same message and I can tell that the carriage is not moving side to side.  It stays over on the right side.   When the video talks about manually moving the carriage, I can move it very easily manually after I wiggle it a little and move it to the right a little.  Then it will move back and forth easily by hand.  I have tried to see if something is blocking it, but can see nothing.  But then when I try to print a test page, no luck.  I have reset it according to the video with no results.  I cannot print a test page from the touchscreen or from my computer.
I really like this printer and hope you can help me.

I hope you are doing well and sorry lt learn that you are having this issue.
