After managed to keep my Z10 running again, it informed me, that there was a new update available, released at 6:38pm with 88MB.
I installed it, hoping that it would terminate the problems I mentioned in my initial post...and:

• Another update failure and restore

An observation after another updater failure.
Do NOT update on a shared USB port. I have a USB dongle to let  several USB devices be on one port. This is not normally not t a problem with syncing, but this will not work with iPad OS update.
Plug iPad directly into a USB port or it will probably fail. This is probably the same reason you can't plug into a keyboard USB port as not enough power to run the operation.

Apple recommends the same when syncing as well.

• I recently updated Firefox and something called Fantistic Games has taken over my homepage and I can't get rid of it.

I used to get a field of 9 options to open when I opened a new page by clicking on the + button on the right side of the Search tab. After I updated Firefox a couple of days ago, my homepage had been taken over by something called "Fantasti Games". I can't find it anywhere to uninstall "Fantisti Games". I now have Google come up as my homepage when I open Mozilla Firefox, but each tab that I open comes up with the "FantastiGames" search engine. I need to get rid of that from my computer and revert back to what I had before, which was when I opened a new tab, I got nine large icons on the screen that gave me the choice of common sites to go to (such as AOL, YouTube, Weather.com, Google, etc.). Please tell me how to uninstall "FantastiGames".

This is embarrassing. It sounds like you have a third party program that has taken over your search engine, home page, and/or the default new tab page. Fortunately, this can be remedied easily:
# At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP), and then click Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
# In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel.
# Select the toolbar you wish to remove.
# Click the remove button.
# Click "Restart now" if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.
After Firefox restarts, install the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ Search Reset Tool]. This will remove the rest of the traces of this program from your Firefox.
For further information, please read [[Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page]].

• Creative Cloud update failures and resets

Today, my computer unexpectedly crashed. In order for it to repair itself, it had to "revert to a previous version". Doing so altered the Creative Cloud software that I had installed the day before. At first, it looked like it had been removed, since the Creative Cloud shortcut -- and the one I had made for the two programs I downloaded, Flash and Photoshop -- had disappared from my Desktop.
When I went in search of the files to launch the programs, I couldn't find them in      Computer > Local Disk (:C) > Adobe > Flash CC/Photoshop CC      where they had been before.
I opened Creative Cloud and saw that there were updates availalbe for these two programs. I thought this might improve something, so I tried to update.
Photoshop CC gets about 50% through the update and then fails. No matter how much I retry, the same thing happens. When I choose "Learn more" next to "Update failed", it gives me the following error message.
Clicking on "More Details" sends me here.
But none of the files here or in the sub-folder can be executed by my computer/
Flash, on the other hand, updated perfectly -- but when I click on the Flash launcher file, it gives me this message.
>>> NOTE: It occured to me that I should uninstall and reinstall the separate programs -- but when I open the "Uninstall a program" section on my Control Panel, it DOESN'T EVEN LIST Flash and Photoshop.
Through a convoluted series of attempts to fix the problem, I have deleted many of my Adobe files, restored them from the Recycle Bin, uninstalled the Creative Cloud from my control panel, reinstalled it, and still nothing seems to work.
I'm a freshman art school student, and I got this Creative Cloud program for free. I NEED the programs it offers. And I desperately hope someone can help me with this problem!

• After BIOS update failure and rollback, audio hot keys detect press but do not function

All other hot keys appear to function properly, only the mute/audio-/audio+ hot keys do not work.
I can press the key and the vertical volume indicator displays but it does not move.
At this time, I suspect this has to do with the failed BIOS update yesterday. All keys functioned properly before the failed BIOS update.
All HP drivers and software are updated to latest.
Another symptom I don't know may be related is that my bluetooth headphones have refused to connect once now without a full reboot. Bluetooth would connect and speaker audio audio would be muted, and sometimes "Manage Audio Devices" indicated connected to headphones but no headphone audo.  Will warrant further watching.
The BIOS update was the most recent as of this writing and attenmpted to update only yesterday. I watched as the new BIOS progressed all the way to the point the BIOS attemnpted to flash and failed, then rolled back. I assume a backup was flashed because all my non-default BIOS settings had to be reset (non-UEFI boot, enable virtualization).
TIA,
Tony
BTW - I find it odd I can't just press a button to export/print my system configuration from the HP Support Assistant, I have to click every individual entry separately, but here goes...
The current running BIOS is F.63
The full results follows
HP ENVY TS 17 Notebook PC
5CG3331YPX
E9G82UA#ABA
Windows 8 64-bit

Bluetooth Hands-free Audio

Seems after another day,
The problem resolved itself.
No reboot, no significant changes to the machine I can think of since my original post.
Just a spontaneous  self-fix.

• Repeated Update Failures and Misreadings

After the most recent update (2.01 bundle 358), owner deleted Zinio manually from the tablet. Destop Software reads the playbook as having OS 0.0 bundle 0, while table says it has 2.01 bundle 358. Steps tried:
1. Install update. Result: update failed.
2. Download Zinio from App World, install update. Result: update failed.
3. Restart playbook, install update, update complete, unplug playbook, hit okay, playbook restarted, replug playbook into computer. Result: OS reads as 0.0 bundle 0.
4. Restart playbook, restart computer. Result: OS reads as 0.0 bundle 0.
Side effects: Desktop software doesn't allow anything but OS updates and backups, computer cannot read blackberry device as being plugged in (i.e. cannot see it in Computer folder), as a result cannot transfer files from computer to playbook. System tray on computer recognizes when playbook is plugged in. Desktop software still recognizes device, but reads OS wrong.
Suggestions?

Hopefully you have copies of pic, videos and documents.
Try the following it is to debrick the playbook. I seriously hope this will help you.
First I would like you to do a Back Up of your PlayBook using your computer and BlackBerry Desktop Software.
This can be downloaded for free from http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
After the Back Up is complete I need you to unplug your PlayBook and then push and hold down the Power Button until the unit Force Powers Off.
Now, while Desktop Software is still open on your computer and the PlayBook Powered Off, Connect the PlayBook to your computer.
You should see and error screen from Desktop Software pop up that has the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
QUICKLY choose the Update option.
This will erase all the information off of your PlayBook and Re-Write the Software back onto it. Once it's complete your PlayBook will need to go back through the setup wizard, and you can then perform a restore using Desktop Software to return your information. The only thing that won't come back after the restore are the apps that you downloaded from App World but they can be easily Re-Installed using the My World feature in App World.
Credit for this solution goes to knottyrope.

• Dynamical Call of ALV - No data update

Best Regards, Edgar

Hello Edgar
The following sample report <b>ZUS_SDN_TWO_ALV_GRIDS_8</b> shows how to solve your problem. Please note that for the sake of simplicity I replaced the tree containing the structure names with an ALV list. However, the switch between the different structures is triggered by the <b>DOUBLE_CLICK</b> event.
I like to add that the integration of the first displayed ALV list (DD02L) into GT_OUTTAB is not really elegant. In addition, with <b>$TMP</b> I marked a problematic part of the coding with respect to your requirement to have the right layout for each displayed ALV list:
If you have a <b>fixed </b>assignment of <i>tabname -> 4-digit handle</i> then it is ok. I my sample report the layouts only work if you select the tabnames in the very same order.
Before showing the entire coding I describe crucial parts of the coding:
TYPES: BEGIN OF ty_s_outtab.
TYPES: tabname    TYPE tabname.
TYPES: layout     TYPE lvc_s_layo.
TYPES: variant    TYPE disvariant.
TYPES: fcat       TYPE lvc_t_fcat.
TYPES: data       TYPE REF TO data.
TYPES: END OF ty_s_outtab.
Every time a new structure is selected the corresponding ALV data are stored as new record in GT_OUTTAB which is of line type TY_S_OUTTAB.
READ TABLE gt_outtab INTO gs_outtab INDEX 2.
      ASSIGN gs_outtab-fcat    TO <gt_fcat>.
      ASSIGN gs_outtab-data->* TO <gt_outtab>.
Since the ALV list data and the fieldcatalog are fully dynamic I use global field-symbols for these data.
&----
*&      Module  STATUS_0100  OUTPUT
          text
MODULE status_0100 OUTPUT.
      SET PF-STATUS 'STATUS_0100'.  " contains push button "DETAIL"

      CALL METHOD go_grid2->set_table_for_first_display
        EXPORTING
          i_structure_name = gs_outtab-tabname
          is_layout        = gs_outtab-layout
          is_variant       = gs_outtab-variant
          i_save           = 'A'
        CHANGING
          it_outtab        = <gt_outtab>
          it_fieldcatalog  = <gt_fcat>
        EXCEPTIONS
          OTHERS           = 4.

      MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO
                 WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
      ENDIF.
ENDMODULE.                 " STATUS_0100  OUTPUT
The second ALV list which displays the table records is always newly displayed in the PBO module.
In the event handler method <b>HANDLE_DOUBLE_CLICK</b> we need to do two things:
- store the current fieldcatalog back to GT_OUTTAB
- store the name of the new selected table/structure -> trigger PAI
In routine <b>HANDLE_DB_CLICK</b> we create a new entry for GT_OUTTAB if it does not yet exist. Next we select this entry and display it again as second ALV list.

• Reg: Update Failures

Hi All,
I am working on ECC6.0, I can see around 80 updates failed due to the following reason. <b>ABAP/4 processor: SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC</b>.
what should i do now? how can i come out from this?
kind regards,
praveen

Hi Praveen,
As the error message suggests, the failure was due to unique constraint violation on the object, which is fine as the object is consistant.
Get hold of the username / transaction and check with the users if they are having any issues with their records / data. If they find it to be consistant, just make note of the update failures and analyze which job / process caused duplicate records to be inserted.
Regards,
Nisch

• Unable to run bapis for project status update and date update together

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement to update the dates and status of a project WBS at level 4. I am trying to do update the CJ02 Transaction using standard BAPI available. I need to do both Date update and status update in the same LOOP PASS   i am using the below mention bapi. when i am doing so i am getting an error Project 'A._____' has been currently processed by ID i.e. my id.
I have tried putting  a wait for 2 seconds in the code but its still not working. please find the order below in which i am calling the bapi.
Loop at itab.
if  date_changed = 'X'.
          CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_PROJECT_MAINTAIN'
          READ TABLE it_error WITH KEY message_type = c_e.
          IF sy-subrc <> 0.

            CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT'
                 EXPORTING
                      wait   = c_x
                 IMPORTING
                      return = s_ret.
       endif.
endif.
if Status_change = 'X'.
          CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_PS_INITIALIZATION' .
          CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_BUS2054_SET_STATUS'
          READ TABLE t_result WITH KEY message_type = c_e.
          IF sy-subrc NE 0.
            CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_PS_PRECOMMIT'
                 TABLES
                      et_return = t_ret.
            CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT'
                 EXPORTING
                      wait   = c_x
                 IMPORTING
                      return = s_ret.
         ENDIF.
endif.
        WAIT UP TO 4 SECONDS.
endloop.

Try to use
SET UPDATE TASK LOCAL.
before each BAPI call.
Did you try to debug through your code, leaving sufficient time between BAPI calls? If it does work like that, then the above statement might help.

After replacing the hard drive on my G4 Powerbook and reinstalling Tiger I am no longer able to synch between itunes and my ipod (Classic 160gb) it would seem that the software on the ipod is of later date than itunes and I am unable to update itunes to the state prior to the original harddrive's failure for Tiger OSX 10.4.11
Any ideas on the subject would be most helpful
Thanks in advance
Dingoh

The last security update released for Tiger users was the 2009-005 update. The latest version of QuickTime is 7.6.4. The last version of iTunes that can run on Tiger is 9.2.1, because 10.0 only supports Mac OS X Leopard and later.
So, are you on version 9.2.1?
Was it Tiger or Leopard you had on the drive before?

Have you tried a reset by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 20 seconds (maybe longer) until the Apple logo appears, ignore the red slider.  Then turn back on. You won't lose any data doing the reset.

text messages and phone calls from March 2012 to date are missing after activating iphone5. I backed up my 4 before activating my 5. Can i retrieve them somehow?

i would not want to bet on nokia ever releasing a patch or update in the software to allow this function on this particular phone.
if you look at nokia phones over the years, they have added functionality like this across a wide range all at once, take for example timed profiles on symbian phones. these have only just been phased in.
i do not think it is a development cop out, more along the lines that nokia is a huge company and as such would have a huge effor in market research. if they didnt pick this out through their market researc, why spend the money adding it?
the comment on annoyance is entirely personal to me, as it is important to you - you may want to consider moving to a symbian (series 60) based handset as these give you a lot of expansion for this sort of need.
