Carrier displayed is not carrier that iPhone is connected to

I go abroad a lot, never had this problem before.
Got back from abroad this morning, and the carrier name displayed is the name of the last carrier it connected to whilst roaming abroad, whilst I am sure that the actual carrier it is connected to is my usual home one (because data and voicemail work for example). Tried restarting, enabling and disabling airplane mode, manually selecting networks, all to no avail. This phone is a LEGALLY unclocked 3GS. Please help!
Thanks

When you go into the Carrier settings...you should see the option to select either automatic or manual...
Ensure you've selected Automatic...
If on Manual then when roaming the phone may not switch properly over to the next supported network...Setting to auto should resolve this...

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • My computer no longer recognizes my iPod Touch. And the iPod Touch does not recognize that it is connected to a computer.

My computer no longer recognizes my iPod Touch. And the iPod Touch does not recognize that it is connected to a computer.  It has worked great for many days until today.
I’ve tried two different Apple cables.
I’ve tried different USB ports on the computer.
I have rebooted both the Mac and the iPod.
I’ve wiggled the cables and checked for dust in the connectors.
The iPod charges using this same cable connected to wall wart.  That’s a good sign.
Both the Mac and iPod seem to work fine separate from each other.  They just won’t talk anymore.

    iTunes 9.2.1
    iPod Touch 32GB, version 3.1.3 (7E18), model PB533LL

I found this possible solution on another support thread, so I tried it.
    turn off iPod
hold Sleep and Home buttons to start it.
When Apple appears, let go of Sleep button, but keep holding Home button.
When screen goes blank, let go of Home button.
Connect cable and check iTunes to see if it has conencted.
This did not work for me.
I then turned off the iPod, restarted the Mac, and restarted the iPod normally.
I connected them with the cable, and it works like normal.  :-)

  • IPhone 4 will not realise that it is connected to either the wall socket or pc. Please help.

So to explain my current situation, I have owned my iPhone 4 for about 3 months, thought after charging it overnight I awoken to it being faulty, the phone will not longer realise it is connected. I have tried multiple cables 3 of them being genuine apple cables. The phone will charge but at a much slower rate, it wont appear in iTunes or My Computer and the small lightning bolt inside the displayed battery will not appear.

Try cleaning the charging area in case there is a buildup of debris that's preventing a good connection.

  • My itunes will not sync my iphone or connect to the itunes store

    Hi there,
A couple of months ago I started experiencing problems with my ipod touch syncing to my itunes, and the connection to the itunes store also became rather hit and miss.  I decided to give it another go when I bought an iphone 4, which I did a couple of weeks ago.  Despite updating my itunes to version 10.5 I am still experiencing the same problems.  When I connect my iphone to my PC it gets to step 2 of the syncing process and then appears to be in some sort of limbo where it does not carry on working (the progress bar stays static rather than slowly increasing).  I am also unable to connect to the itunes store (it does not recognise that there is a problem, rather it just says 'Itunes Store' in the main part of the screen, in some kind of Emperor's New Clothes scenario, as though it's trying to kid me).  In addition I cannot connect to icloud in the control panel.  I have no problems with connecting to the internernet, have defraged and done a disc cleanup and checked that the firewalls are not blocking connectivity.
Please, does anyone have any suggestions?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Trash. Relaunch the application and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • IPhone OS 3.1.3 - iTunes delay with recognising that iPhone is connected

I recently updated my iPhone OS to 3.1.3 and everything appears to be working fine for me - I first upgraded iTunes to the latest version and then upgraded the iPhone OS.
The only issue that I'm facing is that each time I connect my iPhone to the USB of my laptop, iTunes doesn't automatically open as it used to. If I happen to have iTunes open already and then connect the iPhone, it takes iTunes a very long time to recognise that the iPhone is connected. On my iPhone screen it shows that I'm charging it (so I know it's connected), but the iPhone itself takes a very long time (say around 10-15min) to appear in the iTunes window.
    Any suggestions please? Thanks.

    Hi Folks
Here is a fix for the iPhone 3.1 update that causes the handset to remains caught in a restore loop **.
With this fix you should not need to reinstall iTunes to a previous version either, though I have only tested it with Windows OS, the same principle should work.
When your phone is caught in the restore loop, which causes iTunes to continually ask you to reinstall your iPhone and then upon resorting it brings up an error, do the following.
Login to another user account that has access to iTunes (any version) and plug your USB connector into the iPhone.
iTunes will then indentify that there is a 3.1 update which you agree to download. You will then be asked to reformat the phone and install the update. Go through the process as it tried to do in the other user account, follow any prompts that iTunes asks and eventually you will return your iPhone to its factory settings.
Next, disconnect your USB and then log back into the main user account you have previously been using your phone with, load up iTunes again and then reconnect the phone.
iTunes will now scan for the phone and automatically (if you have a previous backup) reinstall from a previous backup, if no backup is available then simply restore.
Once this is complete you should be left with a fully updated and more importantly working iPhone.
I have had some issues with this process with direct regard to the backup, but after a few tries this process works fine.
    Hope this works for everyone.

  • I have a toshiba lap top computer with vista and I can not get my iphone to connect all the way .. it says "connected with limited activity"?

I have a toshiba lap top computer with vista and I can not get my new iphone to connect all the way .... it says "connected with limited activity". which means I don't get on. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi all,
Guess I understand what is going on as I'm also experiencing the problem.
Basically the issue is about the iPhone 4's personal hotspot.
I'm trying to hook on personal hotspot to my toshiba laptop but it couldnt work as the connection is limited to local only without Internet access.
The hotspot works well on other laptop and I-devices, but not my toshiba...
Hope to get assistance here. Thanks

  • My new computer with Windows 8.1 does not recognize my iPhone when connected via USB.

My new Dell Computer with Windows 8.1 does not recognize my iPhone 5 when connected via USB.  I have reinstalled iTunes to no avail.

Hey, I may have to if I can't get this one to work!!
I have tried a different USB to no avail.  Both cables work on my old Dell so I don't believe they are the issue.
I uninstalled iTunes as directed by Apple Support and reinstalled.  Apparently, Apple Mobile Device Support is not loading with it because it does not show up in programs.

  • Is there a way to give permission to access iPhone 5C when you can't through the display?  Display is not showing but iPhone 5C is recognized in iTunes through USB.

So display on phone does not show anymore; however, when I plug it into the USB the phone is recognized by iTunes and triggers the permission pop up to access.  The only problem is I can't click "Trust" on the iPhone because I don't have a screen that shows it.  I can even reset the phone by holding the power and home button.  So basically it's give permission with no screen.  I have a replacement phone on the way but unfortunately the back up for this phone was deleted during a PC refresh so no backup and that's why I need access to it.  Any suggestions would be very helpful.

There is no way to interact with the phone if the screen is not working.
Did you happen to have iCloud backup enabled? If so, you'll be able to restore from an iCloud backup and get at least some of your data back.

  • Macbook Help not recognizing that it's connected to the net?

Online helps subjects don't show up even though I'm online... "the help topic you're opening requires an Internet connection. Choose Apple > System Preferences, and then click Network to check your network settings and, if necessary, connect to the Internet".
I'm 100% online - firefox, safari, mail etc etc etc. Just online Help via the toolbar.... any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.

If I understand your comment, your iPhone does show the symbol for power coming to the iPhone.  If that is the case, and yet your battery is not charging, you may have a battery issue.  You should at least try a Reset on the iPhone to see if that would improve things.  Holding the Sleep / Wake (i.e., Power) button and the Home button at the same time, wait for the white Apple Logo to show and then let go of both buttons and just wait for the Reset to Complete.  Now plug the iPhone back into the Charging Cable and see if the Charging begins.

  • Computer not responding to iphone usb connection

I get no response from plugging in my iphone 3g. I've tried restarting the computer and the phone many times, still nothing? All software up to date, computer, iphone and itunes.

Double check your USB connection. That's been the problem in most cases for me.
