Carrier settings icon missing in 8.1.2
Hi,
I have an issue since this morning with my iPhone 5C, running on IOS 8.1.2 which is unable to get service. I found out that carrier settings icon disappeared from settings menu and I'm practically getting no service and not able to change anything. Tried full reset and hard reset already but no use. Please share some thaughts. I'm currently outside of US where I bought regularly my phone from Apple store that was SIM free and I have been using it 4 months now.

1.Power Cycle
Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly.
It will take a while.
Restart the computer.
Start up in Safe Mode.

2.Click Wif icon in the menubar, make sure that Wifi is turned on and default network is selected.
3. Turn off proxies, if selected.
System Preference > Network > Advanced > Proxies Tab
Under "Select Protocol", uncheck any box if selected.
Click "OK" then "Apply”.
4. Turn off Extensions, if any.
Safari > Preferences > Extensions
Relaunch Safari.
5. Uninstall anti-virus software, if any.

Had problems with my broadband going down at weekend, since it came back on unable to join wifi BT say it is because my wifi settings are missing on my iPad can anyone tell me where to find seething details IP address etc
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

i have just bought this new Nokia Asha 303 phone and i thought the software installed in the phone is incomplete because i cant seem to find the shortcut for nokia maps. I installed the nokia suite in my pc and check for software updates and it is up to date. I already tried factory reset, but nothing, still the same. Is it possible to restore the missing icon? thanks for any help.
sorry for bad englishRight after having my new phone I started exploring its possibilities testing applications from Ovi store. At some point I got some problems with an application so I decided it would be a good idea to try a reset... I first try with an app settings reset to defaults (from the s40 Configuration menu, not the Restoring Factory Defaults menu)... right after that I realized I didn't have Nokia Maps icon in any of the lists of installed applications, nor I could found any loader in both file units, phone and memory card, for it... I was not 100% sure the icon vanished after settings reset, but I supposed it, so I thought something went definitely wrong and I decided to try reset to factory defaults as I just started testing the phone so I hadn't any information saved there to lose... what I could not expect it's that a factory reset will not yield the software at the same very state as what I received short time before. In addition to not getting back the Nokia Maps icon, I noticed another difference in the system, I have an Introduction icon in the list of default applications, that triggers a video playback showing the phone basics... now when I push that button, the playback starts but only for the audio, and instead of the video I show a black screen with a NOKIA logo in the center, the same very screen I see when boot up the phone. Have you tried searching for it in spotlight? it should be in there somewhere. Possibly even in a folder, now that folders have an infinite amount of pages it might just be lost in one of the new folders?

Lost and then found the Settings icon on iPad 2. Can I prevent this?
I just got an iPad2 several weeks ago and love it. Today I discovered that the settings icon was gone from the Home Page. Not on the second page either.
I found some suggestions on this forum (by searching "google" which is much easier and takes you right to the thread you need),that I needed to reset the home page, but not how to do that. I had taken "iPad2 The Missing Manual" out from the Library and was able to easily find how to use spotlight to find the settings and then how to reset the home page from there, and the icon came right back. I couldn't find anything in the User Guide about how to do that. Only the statement that Setting>General has a place where you can choose what you want to reset. I'm glad I had the Missing Manual. Is there somewhere else I should have looked for this? And did I do something to cause it? The only things I am aware of that changed was that I synched the iPad to my mac yesterday and also downloaded the Xfinity Mobile App so that I can get my Comcast emails. If I know why I lost the Settings icon, maybe I can prevent it. If there isn't any reason, I'll just chalk it up as one of those "technical things" and be glad that I know now how to fix it.
Thank youI don't think that you did anything wrong. Unless you were moving apps around and lost track of what you were putting where - that would be the only thing that you could consciously do to cause the app to move to another screen.
I have the Xfinity mobile app and never lost any app icons. I would simply chalk it up to one of those wierd things that happens from time to time when you sync.
You can download the User Guide as a free book in the iBookstore and the user guide is available as a bookmark in Safari as well. Frankly, I've not seen anything that answers every question that can come up when you are using the iPad. Google has been a great friend to me as well as has this discussion site. -

- Move the Music app icon to the home page. It is usually easer to do it on the computer than on the iPod itself. The manual says how to move the apps.

Have you checked all your homescreens and app folders for it, also how many screens of apps have you got on the iPad (there is a maximum of 11) ?
You could try a reset and see if you can find it after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Of you could try resetting your homescreens via Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout and see if you can then find it. -
Airplay Icon missing from iTunes 11.0.2.26 (PC) and Genius Sidebar
After upgrading to iTunes 11.0.2.26 my Airplay icon is missing. I've tried the simple fix that reportedly works where you switch to mini player, see the Airplay icon and then it stays when you switch to normal mode.
Firstly the icon does appear but it is grayed out and only pops up a volume control. It does not detect, display, or allow you to select output devices, Second, it is still missing from the normal size window.
This has been tried with and without restarting iTunes as well as reinstalling iTunes. I'd go for a downgrade but then it fails to work with the new iPads at all. I discovered that with my first iPad mini where it required an iTunes upgrade.
Genious Sidebar
I figured Id just downgrade to 10.6.3 to get the genius sidebar back afterwards. WRONG, it will not synch or do anything without the newer versions of the iTunes software. Genius sidebar was the best thing about the software and they kept taking it away, brought it back for a few versions, then took it away again. It was and remains my favorite way to shop for new music. The remaining so called genius functions are just plain lame.
Airplay Icon Missing from Itunes on PC
I can hit my Airplay devices such as Apple TV and Zeppelin Air with iPads, iPods, and iPhones. Just not from the PC Console where is previously enjoyed it the most. So I know the devices are fine. They are all on the same physical wired and wireless network. NOW! i can tell you in my case it was nothing to do with your router or antyvirus ip connection.
my pc is auto updating every sunday and icon has disappeared on monday i realized this fact and i have started uninstalling windows updates one by one after each uninstall i have restarted PC each time always run itunes and check if airplay icon is back. AND THER SHE WAS fiew windows updates uninstalled and icon is back in itunes
Now i can not remember what Update it was KB28 ..... something i didnt wright it down at the time i hope this will help someone.
