Carrying imac around upside down....

Planning on getting the following:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=AF_l7mLLXWs
how safe is it carrying an 20: imac around in a back-pack upside down? is it more prone to damage (ie not designed for movement like a laptop) by carrying it around. - I plan to take it to and from work everyday OR if too heavy, will just leave it in the building.

ilugger email:
"We use the iLuggers all the time to move iMacs around and have had no
problems yet. So long as the machine is powered down OK and left for
a minute for the drive to stop spinning there should be no issues.
At the other end make sure you warm up the unit to room temperature
before turning on, much like any other electrical device.
The new 20" iMacs are the lightest yet making them idea for lugging
around.
However we don't have any iLuggers in stock at the moment, we are
waiting on a shipment, some are expect before the end of Sept, but it
may be a few days longer."

  • Do i need to shut down my macbook pro before carrying it around? Considering hard drive issues

I am a uni student. I have a MacBook Pro early 2011. been using it for 3 years now.
i have a couple questions just out of curiosity.
do we really have to shut down our mbpro before carrying it around?
couldnt we just leave it sleep mode?
i mean, is it harmful to our hard drives if we put our mbpro in sleep mode and move it around?
does apple have a mechanism that kinda "stops" the hard drives from spinning in sleep mode?
I wanna know for sure, since some told me that it's okay to move my mbpro around in sleep mode, and some told me that it's not okay and i have to shut it down first.
i did occasionally transport my mbpro in sleep mode.... and i think.... i'm having some hard drive issues.
Thanks before for your kind answers.
    Best Regards,
    Moses

    Moses,
your MacBook Pro has a sudden movement sensor which will park your disk’s heads in case it senses a sudden G-force change. By default, this sensor will be active. Carrying around your MacBook Pro while it’s sleeping (and applying some common sense while doing so) should not be harmful to its hard drive.

  • IMac iSight Camera Upside-Down?

I just got a new iMac C2D 2.4GHz 24" and when I got to the screen where it asks to take a Snapshot to use as my Account Photo the image appeared upside down. I then figured it might work correctly in Photo Booth but it appears that it does not. When I open Photo Booth it shows my picture upside down.
I downloaded iGlasses to see if rotating it would fix the problem and it does, but I'd rather not have to set that up and pay 10$ to correct something that shouldn't even be happening.
Is there anything that I can do? Is there a setting I could change?

    Hi SkawtS
Sound like the iSight may have been installed upside down at the factory???
I would take it or send it back for a replacement right away... here's the link to [Contact Apple Support|http://www.apple.com/support/contact>

  • Flipping (upside-down) the image on the iMac display

My imac G5 20" (no iSight) sits way too high on my desk.
I want to turn it upside down so the screen is lower.
Is there a way to inverse the screen display? 3rd party software, etc...?
    Thanks

The foot is removable on the iMac G5 computers prior to the iSight version.
They did this so that you could install a wall-mount adapter.
But, if you do this, consider that you do need air-space under the iMac G5 for ventilation.
Probably your best bet would be to buy a wall-mount adapter from Apple, and then a Wall-Mount bracket from most electronics and home stores. Then you can set the height anywhere you want it.

  • Does it matter if RAM is upside down?

I bought memory from crucial to upgrade my new 20" 2.66ghz iMac from the stock 2gig to 4gig. Oddly enough, the iMac manual says "make sure the notch in the RAM module is on the left side when you insert it," but it actually needs to be on the right side. The stock RAM has notches on the right, and the little stickers on the modules are on top when you insert the RAM.
No big deal, I just turned the crucial RAM around (so the stickers were on the bottom), except that the crucial RAM didn't work. I got the "no RAM" beeps from the iMac.
Should the RAM work "upside down" like that?

Hey Jim, first you should simply google to find an image of what the ram should look like on you mac. Secondly, I purchased some ram from OWC and they actually shipped me a picture instruction manual. My sticker side of the ram is facing away from the mother board and other components and I am using a G4 flat screen imac, where the ram has to inputted in the base of the computer. I would think that the sticker would be away from the other components being that it would be a foreign matter so to speak.

  • Duplex Printing, front on back and upside down...

    Dear Bob,
I have a problem with a LaserJet CM2320 MFP fxi, running Windows XP SP3.
When printing a single page it is ok.
When printing a (word)-file with e.g. 4 pages, the first page is printed on the backside and the second page on the front, and both are also upside down... Putting the paper the other way around in the printer doesn't solve the problem, because the single-page-print will be messed-up...
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Kind regards,
    Titus

  • In Mavericks iPhoto slide shows, why do the last pics come first, some pics are upside down, and some vertical pics are horizontal?  How can I fix this?

On my iMac OSX, 10.9.4, Mavericks, I have been trying to view an album as a slide show.  The slide show starts at the end (bottom row picture) instead of the beginning (top 1st picture).  I have gone to View>Sort Photos>Manual.  But the order of Ascending and Descending choices are greyed out with the default check by Ascending.  How can I start at my beginning without rearranging all the photos?  Also, some of the photos are upside down and sideways, even though they are correct in the album.  How can I fix this??   Thank you!  Also, can I include a video in the slide show?  Up to how many seconds/minutes?

Is this a slideshow created directly from an album?
There's a bug with iPhoto 9.5 and Mavericks in that slideshows from Albums do not play correctly if they are sorted manually.  Only photos that have been sorted by date, keyword, rating or title will play from albums correctly.
To have a slideshow with photos sorted manually use the slideshow mode in iPhoto.

  • Another iMac Randomly Shutting Down!!

Hey Everyone. I'm new to the forums, though i've always used them as a resource over the years to learn more or troubleshoot issues. Hopefully, now, someone can help me with mine personally.. :-/
I have an intel 2.8gH Aluminum iMac that I purchased fall of 2007. Only now, almost 2 years later is it suddenly (just started yesterday) turning off randomly. Everytime it will not allow me to turn it back on until a minute or so has passed. I have reset the SMC as well as the PRAM several times. This afternoon, it is now to the point where I cannot even keep it running long enough to download an app to up the fan speeds. Although, I don't think it is overheating in the first place.
I'm really hoping it is just the power supply, as I've seen that be the fix for SOME iMacs i've found at other online forums. Though, the upper corner of my iMac is not hot or smelling burnt out at all. I have found more than several online forums of people complaining about their iMacs randomly shutting down, and am praying it is not the logic board, as that is a $900+ fix.
please, someone give me insight to how i can check if its the power supply or something else? I use this iMac for recording all of my music, editing video, and (of course) playing WoW lol. Currently using my 1st gen macbook.

I bought my iMac 20" in May 2006. I had been very impressed with it until one day I shut it down to move it to another room. I could not get it to turn back on. I had to leave it unplugged for a few hours. Since then it has started randomly shutting itself down, turning itself off and not starting up again until I unplug and leave it unplugged for a few hours. I had purchased the Apple Care? Extended Warranty, and the fault occurred during this three year period, though I failed to take the fault seriously and did not phone during the period. It was just after the three year warranty that I phoned Apple Care? about it and everyone I spoke to said they had not heard of this problem occurring. I wonder now, why the Apple Customer Service Team don't visit the discussions.apple.com where they will find quite a significant number of like problems occurring with the iMac sold in 2006.
My reason for paying the nearly triple price point for an Apple Computer was the quality of the build and my expectation that I would get far longer life out of my purchase. I don't like buying throw away products and I gladly save and wait longer to buy better quality products. Just as an example and point of reference. In 2000 I purchased a second hand Dell with 8GB HDD and 256Mb RAM. I paid $1000 for it and I gave it to my father when I got this iMac and he still has it running today. It has not had a single hardware issue in nine years. Good luck I suppose. However, after spending around $3000 on this iMac, and Apple now telling me the Logic Board is generically, non specifically 'failing', it goes against my pure desire for non disposable, throw away products to buy another Logic Board for AUS $1064. For one, I don't believe it has given me anywhere near the life that I expected from a product with such a high price point and solid reputation for quality, nor do I feel confidence in buying anything more 'Apple' after the dealings I have had with them over this problem. I am amazed that Apple would sell a 'failing' Computer to their customers and then expect that the customer will spend more money, considerably more, on a product that may be equally faulty and that they will not stand behind either.

  • Video Inverted Upside down, left to right

Thanks Ian, but I never use ichat also i tried to browse those video with only the browsers are open upon after I restart to isolate the problem.
I remember, I have the same issue lat year but it only occur when I play REAL MEDIA files When I scan with techlool pro it shows my iMac have *video memory problem*, then I send the iMac to an Apple Distributor (YNZAL) since ynzal is not authorized to repair they forward my mac to an authorized service center.
They replaced the LCD (It also had some black spots) but didn't replace the board. I told them that tech tool pro is saying that my video ram have issues but they said APPLE does not honor TechTool results (although it came with AppleCare), They only honor the result coming from the Utility on the Mac installation disc which didn't saw any problem on my iMac. Since my screen was fixed and the video gargling only occur when watching RM files and random flash movies I take my iMac home.
Until recently the unside down video rendering happens more and more that I cannot watch flash videos on more and more sites.
My plan is to send my iMac to Apple again, this time to other service center..
Anyone here knows why apple does not honor Techtool pro results?
    Thanks for your time helping..
    God Bless

  • Turn video upside down?

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to turn video upside down?
The video was shot on a portable device (mp4 format) whilst the device was wrong way around, making the image upside down, and I want to keep this particular video.
If this is possible, I'd really appreciate knowing the application that does it.
Many thanks in advance for advice.

I use Quicktime Pro to rotate movies that I capture with an upside-down recorder. Here are some instructions I found:

  • Upside down images when creating a DVD

    Hello,
During the course of making a DVD which is a mixture of stills & video clips I found that some of the images, in the timeline, in the available media and finally in the "Create DVD menu" screen were upside down.
This usually preceeded a "serious" error which involved the program shutting down!. Although I was able to recover the file and eventually carry on to a successful project, I have no idea what I have done to cause this annoying problem.
    Has anybody any ideas?
    Thanks
    Jim

    Hi Paul,
Yes, they are all very high resolution. I wondered if this was the problem. Oddly, it doesen't occur all the time though and sometimes changing an associated transition in Premiere has turned the image the right way up. Still, sorted now. Thanks a lot.

  • Upside down pdf

I am uising image capture to create a 2 page pdf file. No matter how I put the originals in the document feeder or set the orientation button, it comes out upside down. I only have Adobe reader so I can't turn it around and save it.
I am going to scan each page to a jpg, put them in MS word and export a pdf file. But I should not have to go through all this. Any ideas?

Strange issue,  one work around is to open them Preview and rotate them, which is extremely simple to do.

  • After installing the Quicktime 7.6 Plug-in all my MobileMe Gallery movies display upside down

This issue is only in FF 4.0.
I have a 2010 Intel iMac with Mac OS 10.6.7.
I create an iMovie, upload to MobileMe Gallery, a window opens asking if I'd like to 'View' the new movie, I click 'View'.
After opening my MME Gallery in FF4.0 my movie is displayed and plays upside down and backwards. All my other movies (48 of them) are also the same.
After discussions with Apple MME Support I find that my movies are displayed properly in my 'logged in' area only, when I try to play any Gallery movie it becomes upside down/backwards.
I finally gave up troubleshooting and re-installed FF 3.6.16 and everything is as it should be.
