Cars doesn't run

I'm a new user to the mac world, though I've been in the Windows world for years.
My son has the game "Cars", based upon the Pixar movie of the same name. It is suppose to work on the Mac, but doesn't. I installed it and when I try to run it, I get an error message and the option to send the error report to Apple.
Is this where I should post this question or is there a different forum? I sent an email to the manufacturer, THQ, and received no response. Their website is so useless it might as well come from Microsoft.
Any clues what I need to do to get this to run for my six year old? Below is the error information in the report sent to Apple.
Thanks.
Kelly

There is a Univerrsal Binary patch that you may need to download and install before you can play the game. As originally released the game was not designed to work on the Intel chips now in Macs but the Power PC chips they previously used. You can download the patch here:

That's the only thing I can think of that would cause the issue you are reporting.

  • When Apple Care Doesn't Work

Has anyone had problems getting something solved through Apple Care technical support? This is the second time for me with this computer. Last time, over a year ago, they finally paid to have it put in the shop. I've been dealing with them with this issue since November. Two regular level and two specialists have tried to help me. We've done all of the regular stuff, making more room on the hard drive, resetting the PRAM, taking stuff off and reinstalling the system software. The last was done on Friday. I'm still having problems. It totally freezes up at odd times. Sometimes there are black lines across the screen. It is now (since the reinstall) not recognizing my external hard drive and saying it can't open itunes. I'm so frustrated! Not only do my kids need the computer for homework, but I have a part-time home business and need to print shipping labels etc. as well as look up information related to my business. Any suggestions? I've had Macs almost since they came out and this really makes me want to get a PC. I realize they can have problems, too, but at least they are cheaper.

"Will Apple keep making updates to 10.4"
That final version update of Tiger is 10.4.11.
"Should I buy 10.5? It's been my feeling that since this particular computer has had so many problems I shouldn't spend any more money on it unless I am convinced it will continue working well (or begin working well) for a while. " I wouldn't think it would be advisable to upgrade to Leopard until your Mac is stable.

    Robert,
Unfortunately we don't have an Apple store here. I hear there may be one soon. There are various people who contract with Apple to do repairs, so maybe I need to go to one of those. The question, then, is, how do I get Apple to pay. Since my computer is still under Apple Care and since I've had extended problems with it, they should, right?
    Carolyn,
I didn't list all of the things that have been tried on it in the past four months...hard to remember. I had done the disk utility probably twice before. I did update to 10.4.11, as you suggested. How does this work with updating? Will Apple keep making updates to 10.4 even though they have 10. 5 out? Should I buy 10.5? It's been my feeling that since this particular computer has had so many problems I shouldn't spend any more money on it unless I am convinced it will continue working well (or begin working well) for a while.
I didn't understand all of your directions. I found the disk utility, although it wasn't listed under the finder menu bar. I" There is a Disk Utility application on your hard drive. Applications/Utilities.
"Were you suggesting running disk utility on the install disk? " Yes!
" There wasn't anything to select anywhere that said Utilities/Startup Disk. " Ok, when you boot from your restore disk, you hold down the C key until you see the Apple logo on your screen. An Installer window will open. Do not proceed with any installations. Instead, from the Menu Bar (very top of your screen), select Utilities/Startup. That will open the window where you can then select your MacintoshHD 10.4 icon and click Restart. Without doing this, your Mac doesn't know disk to boot from.
"Sorry, it's been a rough week. Maybe I'm not understanding something obvious." No problem. Sometimes you just have to sit back and take a deep breath, or call it a night and work on it in the morning. I understand ... these tasks can be daunting at times.

  • Crystal Report doesn't run on the production PC

I developed a report using VS 2005/Crystal Report. The report has three on-demand sub reports and some subreports. It runs well on my PC, but doesn't run on the production PC, on that PC, I only can see the report header or few columns. The difference (I can tell) between my PC and the production PC is my PC has VS 2005 installed.
Is there anything I can do to make the report running on the production PC?
    Thanks.

    Hi Jhon,
Have you installed the runtimes of CR of VS2005 on your server, if not than please install from(only applicable if you are using the bundle version of CR i.e. CR 10.2 which comes with VS 2005) [here|http://resources.businessobjects.com/support/additional_downloads/runtime.asp#07].
Note- use the appropriate version of merge modules for 64 or 32 bit machine
    hope this works

TM does not work like that.
If you want files to use later.. do not use TM.
Or do not use TM to the same location. Plug a USB drive into the computer and use that as the target for the permanent backup.
Read some details of how TM works so you understand what it will do.

I have just started to use firefox on my pc which has windows 7. I keep getting a message saying I need to update the version of firefox, so I down load it and it says it is downloaded ( I now have it 3 times) but it doesn't run and still keepstellin me I need to upgrade it??? DO I just go back to internet explorer???

Your browser reported to the forum that you are running version 3.6.6. Can you verify that using the Help > About Firefox dialog?
Which file did you download: Firefox 3.6.27 or Firefox 10.0.2?
(If you need to re-download, you can choose from the files on these pages:<br>http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all for 10.0.2 or <br>http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older for 3.6.27)
Make sure to close Firefox before launching the installer for the newer version. Do you get any error messages when you start it? It might take a minute for the installer to check itself before you get a dialog.

  • Applet embedded in JSP doesn't run on browser with older than JRE-1.6

I have embeded an Applet in my JSP Page which used JDK1.6's getHardwareAddress() method to get user's physical address.
I have embeeded this into a JAR file and used it in my JSP where this applet run on onload() event of the form --> runs the applet --> and gets physical address of user machine and prints it in one of the text boxes on the form.
Now, the issue is that the applet doesn't run on browser that doesn't support JRE 1.6
My concern is that how can I run this (if at all possible) in browsers that support lower versions of JRE or is it possible to check that if the browser doesn't support JRE 1.6 then load the basic version of form without running the applet. Can i actually check the version of browser JRE somehow and stop to execute the applet. Because what happens as of now is that if the applet doesn't execute, the complete form fails to load.
The last option is that I give a message on my web page that redirects user to Sun Java site and asks them to update their browsers.

Personally, I have no knowledge about Applet but have you checked this link?

One has to initialise a session first for use with Oracle Apps if you want to make it run as a concurrent job.
Any decleration within your package will not be recognised unless initialisation is sucessful.
    Investigate the built-in packages:
    FND_GLOBAL - for initialisation
FND_SUBMIT - for setting session relevant parameters
-- function returns true or false depending on whether the initialisation was sucessful or not
create or replace function is_Init_OK (p_User_Name       in varchar2
                                          ,p_Responsibility  in varchar2
,p_Language        in varchar2) return boolean as

  • Nsswitch doesn't run PADL's nss_ldap.so

    Hi, all!
    I've really broken my brain.
    I've successfully compiled PADL's nss_ldap-253 with openldap-2.3.21 and openssl-0.9.7i. All linked static.
/etc/nsswitch.conf reads "passwd: files ldap". nss_ldap.so copied to /usr/lib/nss_ldap.so.1.
When I run `getent passwd` it displays content of /etc/passwd only and exits with code 0. truss shows that it opens /usr/lib/nss_ldap.so.1. But it doesn't run any functions, even nssldap_passwd_constr().
I've downloaded ready-to-use nss_ldap.so.1 from www.symas.com and it works fine. It frustrates and encourages me. I cannot understand what is wrong with my job?
    I have Sun Fire V240, Solaris 9 9/05, GCC 3.4.2.
    openssl-0.9.7i:
    # ./config no-hw threads
    # make ; make install
    openldap-2.3.21:
    # ./configure disable-ipv6 disable-slapd disable-slurpd disable-shared --without-cyrus-sasl \
    --with-tls CPPFLAGS=-I/usr/local/ssl/include LDFLAGS=-L/usr/local/ssl/lib
    # make depend ; make ; make install
    nss_ldap-253:
    # CPPFLAGS=-I/usr/local/ssl/include LDFLAGS=-L/usr/local/ssl/lib LIBS="-lssl -lcrypto" \
    ./configure with-ldap-dir=/usr/local with-ldap-lib=openldap --enable-rfc2307bis \
    with-ldap-conf-file=/etc/ldap.conf with-ldap-secret-file=/etc/ldap.secret
    # LDADD=-L/usr/local/ssl/lib make
    # cp nss_ldap.so /usr/lib/nss_ldap.so.1
    # ln -s /etc/ldap.conf /usr/local/etc/openldap/ldap.conf

GCC 3.4.2 was the matter. GCC 3.3.2 works fine.

  • Executable doesn't run in other computer

    Hello all,
I have built a executable for one of our labview application and it works properly in this PC, the problem is the executable doesn't run in other computers, I've read the documentation sorting it out.
    I checked:
-The OS is the same in both PC.
-I attached the file sepdrv in executable's folder (I am using serial communication).
-Labview Run Time Engine is instaled.
The executable doesn't take the default icon in other computers, does it...

    Hi!
It shouldn't be a licensing problem, and you don't have to have LabView installed on the PC in which your application will run, installer is meant for this! Otherwise, if you had LabView on target PC, it would have been enough to run the VI on the other PC (provided you've the same libraries....).
I use NI Developer Suite 7.1, so in LabVIew 7.1, you have
tools --> Build application or shared library ...
Go to "installer settings", check "create installer", and in "advanced properties" check for what you need for your application to run.
I only have an "evaluation version" of LV 8.5, so I cannot grant you that I can help you, but I'm doing a little check...  please, let me know what LabView do you have!

  • Ntttcp doesn't run traffic on first command execution

    Hi,
I noticed some weird behavior of ntttcp_x64.exe which sometimes doesn't run any traffic on the first time it's been executed.
Waiting for it to complete, shows that 0.000MB/s were transmitted. (no traffic was actually running)
Re-running right after that with the same command lines, works fine.
Have you ever encountered this behaviour?
I'm using current latest version (5.28) on Win2012R2 release version.
    Thanks.

    No application errors.

  • Page rendering process doesn't run after validation error

I have a page rendering process (On Load - After Regions) that needs to be run for my page to be rendered properly; however, it doesn't run when the page is rendered after a validation error. In debug mode, I see the following line:
"0.05: ......do not perform process because inline validation condition found."
Is this a bug? Validations are meant to prevent execution of On Submit processes, but is there a reason to also not run rendering processes?
I need to dynamically construct some javascript and insert it somewhere after a certain item on the page. Is there a workaround?
    Thanks.
    Rodney

    Rodney,
Let me see if I understand your question:
    1. A page is rendered
    2. The page is submitted
    3. A validation fires and fails
    4. The page is re-rendered displaying the validation error message
    5. Your on-load after regions process did not fire
You want to run a process in all cases; in the standard page load case (1) and in the re-load case (4).
You can do this by creating a region of type PL/SQL. You can give the region a null template so that it will not display any values. The region can be the last one displayed on the page; so that it will be run last.
You also asked if it is a bug that the on-load after regions process did not fire; as the debug message indicates this is proper. Here is an example that illustrates why you typically don't want to perform processes when rendering a page after it was posted causing a validation to fire.
    Lets take the following example:
    1. create a form on the emp table; assume a salary column called "SAL"
    2. create a validation that says the salary must be numeric
    3. edit a row of the EMP table
    4. change the employee job from clerk to manager; and enter a "X" in the salary item
    5. submit the page
    6. the validation will fire; page processing will stop; and the page will be re-displayed
    7. the process which fetches the rows will not fire; and the page will be re-displayed; the job item will display the change from "clerk" to "manager" and salary will still contain the invalid "X" value. If the process had fired it would have replaced the values in the form.
My recommendation is that you use regions for any processing that is UI releated. I hope this helps.
