Cascade scxi 1142 with scxi 1140

I would like to cascade an SCXI 1142 with an SCXI 1140. I've come across a knoeledge base article indicating I can only do this with an SCXI 1140 Rev F or later.
I have two SCXI 1140's but with a REV: 1_ on a label on the exterior of the module. I looked for a revision number on the circuit board as per the user manual but there is none.
These SCXI 1140 modules would have been purchased quite a number of years ago.
I would like to know if I can cascade SCXI 1142's with my version of SCXI 1140's?
If the answer is no, what are my options for filtering?
Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,
I'm assuming this is the KB you are talking about.
Interesting that you can't find the revision or part information on the 1140 board itself. Another way to check to see if the module can be cascaded is to see if there is a 16 pin connector on the board inside the module. The SCXI-1352 Installation Guide and Tutorial: Cascading SCXI Modules have more information in terms of where the internal 16 pin connector is located and what it might look like. If the connector is on the board then you will be able to cascade the module with the 1142 using the SCXI-1352 cable kit.
If you do not have the later revision of the 1140 with this internal connector I'm not sure what other options you have. Really, probably the easiest thing to do is to get the newer revision of the 1140 that allows cascading. Do you need the signals to be simultaneously sampled using the T/H module? If not, you can just use the 1142 module for filtering, but you will have channel to channel skew.
Hopefully this helps,

  • Sample with an external clock with a SCXI 1140 (8 channel sample/hold amplifier)

    I have a SCXI 1140 (8 channel sample/hold amplifier) and a SCXI 1305 card (BNC).
I want to sample an analog signal with external frequency (SMB connector).
I plug an analog signal on the channel 0 and a TTL signal on SMB connector "hold/clock" (the jumper corresponding to the SMB connector is on Hold postion).
I use the "ACQUIRE N SCANS - EXT SCANSCLK.VI" LabView example with :
    DEVICE=1
    CHANNELS [0]=SC1!MD1!0
    CLOCK SOURCE=I/O CONNECTOR
    CLOCK SOURCE STRING=SC1!MD1!
When I execute the example, I have the error -10 001 (problem with clock source string).
If I used CLOCK SOURCE=INTERNAL there is no error, but I do not sample with hold signal !
    What is the probl
    em with the string ?
Is there another solution for sampling whith an external signal ?

The error that you're seeing is being generated because the clock source string should be "sc1!md1" not "sc1!md1!". It's the "!" at the end of the string that is causing the error.

  • How to set the jumper for scxi 1140?

Hi, I would like to connect the SCXI1140 module to PCI 6052E.SCXI1140 is connected  to SCXI 1125 by the cable SCXI 1325 to get the data from SCXI 1125. I could not well understand the suitable configuration  for W9, W10,W11, W12, W13 and W14 jumpers in  SCXI1140. would you please help me out?

    Hello,
First, can you please verify that you are using the SCXI-1352 cable and not the SCXI-1325 teminal to cascade the SCXI-1125 to the SCXI-1140. Here is a link about cascading SCXI modules and here is the link developping your particular case of cascading the SCXI-1125 to the SCXI-1140. You can see that the configuration of the jumpers depends only on your application. This link  to the User Manual of the SCXI-1140 should give you the configuration you have to make depending on your application.
I hope this will help you.

  • SCXI-1140 noisy signal

    My
    application:
    I connected
a Function generator (to generate some functions: sinusoidal or square) with
the BNC cables to a SCXI-1140 (via the terminal block SCXI-1305. The chassis is
    a SCXI-1000).
    I use the
National Instrument cable to connect the SCXI to the Data Acquisition Card
    (PCI6052E) in my computer.
    I use
Labview 6.1 to read the signal “Waveform Graph”.
    I control
the movement of 2 axes by 2 motors (one stepper and one magnetic).
    I want to
use hot wires to take measurement.
    Problem:
    When I turn
OFF the 2 motors, from Labview, the signal I read is clear and no noise.
    When I turn
ON one or both motors, from Labview, the signal I get has a noise.
    I tried 3
type of BNC cables (I do not know if they are double shielded or no!!!): the
first is from Dantec Dynamics cable (bedea # 1084 RG 58, made in Germany),
the second has this note M17/028 RG058  EBD, the third has this
note 03554 Amphenol Canada RG-58 C/U. Unfortunately the problem still
exist, I have a noise in my signal.
    I tried on
the SCXI 1305, the 2 positions of the switches position (G: Disconnects
ground-reference resistor, F: Floating source). The problem still exist, I have
    a noise in my signal.
    When I connect
the function generator to the oscilloscope, I do not have any problem for both
situations: Motors ON or OFF. The signal is clear and without noise.
    Question:
    What is the problem?
    Thank you in advance,

    Hello,
I wanted to make sure that the physical channel you are sampling from in LabView is from the SCXI 1140.  This would mean that the LabView channel names looks like “SC#Mod#”, where the # will be the SCXI chassis number in the Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) and the slot number where the 1140 located.  On the other hand, if you have LabView looking at the PCI-6052E instead of the SCXI … the channel name would look like “Dev#ai#”, where the Device number is the one in MAX for the 6052E and the ai# is the channel you are wiring into.  MAX is defaulted to install on your desktop.
The DAQ Assistant or low level DAQmx functions are two ways you could currently be acquiring an analog input using the DAQmx driver.  With the DAQ Assistant, the selection of the channel is located in the window that opens up for setting up the task.  I have included a screen shot of this window.  If you are using the DAQMX functions, then please open up the example titled Acq&Graph Voltage Int-Clk.vi located under the Help menu.  Explore the block diagram and front panel by looking at the “Physical Channel” control.

  • SCXI 1140 readings fluctuate between correct value and zero

I have a SCXI Chassis with two 1531 modules, one 1520 module and one 1140 module, controlled by custom written software written in Labwindows/CVI.
When tested in the UK lab it all worked fine. When taken into the field in Romania I got strange signals from the 1140 (voltage input) module - at about a 50Hz cycle the signal would rapidly switch between zero and the correct signal. The signals from the other 3 modules were fine.
I assumed it had been damaged in transit, but when I got back to the lab it all works fine again.
The only difference between the two situations was the power supply level. Both were AC mains, UK was 240V, Romania was 220V, and I remembered to change the voltage selection wheel on
the supply to the SCXI chassis.
The symptoms are identical to those mentioned here but I'm not using DAQmx, and I only get the problem with the 1140 module.
I'm reluctant to turn the voltage selection wheel back to 220V when it has a 240 V input, and can't think of any way to recreate the situation I had in Romania.
Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this problem, or how I could test it locally?
    Thanks.

The Romanian supply is 50 Hz.
In Romania I pulled the 1140 module out and checked that all the dip switches were firmly in place, and nothing else seemed loose.
The fault was extremely periodic, and was at exactly 50 Hz. It's as if there was only an output signal when the supply voltage was positive, and when the supply voltage was negative the output signal was zero.
I would really like a way to check the module in the lab with a 220 V supply.

  • SCXI 1140 - Track-and-hold trigger line error.

I am running an SCXI chassis where 1 of the modules is 1140 with a 1301 terminal. I've tried just acquiring a signal, and I receive the following error.
Error -10740 occurred at AI Group Config.
    Possible reasons:
NI-DAQ LV: A signal has already been assigned to the SCXI track-and-hold trigger line, or a control call was inappropriate because the specified module is not configured for one-channel operation.
Any help or insight would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hello cconley,
I searched our website and was able to find the following KnowledgeBase article in regards to the error you are seeing. Although it specifically references the SCXI 15xx module, I believe that the same information applies to the 1140 module.

  • Cascading Pick List with date range as first,  second pick list is dynamic

    Specifically, how is this accomplished?
It does not seem possible to make first pick list static. If allowed this would be perfect.
The system seems to only allow the first parameter to be dynamic if the second parameter is dynamic. No range seems to be available for date when second parameter is  dynamic.

Consider a 3rd-party tool as a solution (for a list of such tools, see http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html).
There is at least one Crystal report viewer with its own special implementation of dynamic & cascading parameters.  It would allow you to use any type of parameter within the cascade.  However, you will need to create a separate rpt to implement each dynamic parameter.  So in your case, you will have one main report, using a dynamic parameter that's implemented as a separate rpt, which has a date range parameter.

  • Cascading Dropdown Menu with O365 and InfoPath 2013

    Hello
I'm trying to resolve a situation where I have 2 dropdown lists in an InfoPath form on SharePoint for O365.
For example States and Cities, selecting State from DD1 displays the cities in that state in DD2. Should be fairly simple I know but unfortunately a real stumbling block for me.
I have found a good few examples on the web but I cant get them working, I'm wondering if this a snag with the O365 version.
    Many thanks

I have copied and edited to the best of my ability several options but keep getting errors, mostly illegal character on line...
I do not have LifeCycle, merely Adobe Acrobat IX (and a trial version of Acrobat XI PRO) and the extent of my knowledge ends at placing fields, text, etc. . .

On the document, there are two combo boxes

I have spent the past four days, more than 18 hours in the last two alone trying to nail this down and I can't explain how completely defeated I feel, not to mention frustrated.
    Again, thanks for your help!!

I suppose I am not meant to figure this out.  I am trying my absolute hardest to accomplish compiling this document without having to resort to asking someone to do it for me as I have noticed in a few other threads, but it just seems to get more frustrating.  I have accomplished the first thing I set out to do and I completely appreciate your assistance with that.  My issue now is that i have other text fields I want to automatically fill based on the selection of the very same DeptName combo box.  I can make the cascading/dependent box work with the initial DeptName box, or all the additional text fields with the DeptName box, but cannot seem to accomplish having them work together.  I have been working daily, reading blogs/forums, watching videos all in an effort to complete this before it's needed on Feb. 2.
Is it possible to make 7 text fields and a combo box(B) fill based on the selection of a separate combo box (A), and then have 5 more text fields automatically fill based on the selection from the secondary box (B)?  I can make it all happen individually, meaning only the text fields for one box or the combo box (A to b) but not in conjunction.

  • Download cascading SyncBOs fails with SP 13

    Hello,
we upgraded from SP 12 to SP 13 and now the download of cascading SyncBOs fails. The scenario:
We have a ZSRVPROC SyncBO which references to ZPARTNER. The ZPARNTER has a reference to ZADDRESS.
Since SP 13 we get only ZPARTNERS to the client where the  reference to a ZADDRESS SycnBO is empty. All other
    ZPARTNERs are failing.
The only hint I could find was in the merep_mon for the ZSRVPROC SyncBOs. The are several entries like:
    Cascade search failed: From (SyncBO=ZSRVPROC SKey=0009213657) To (SyncBO=ZADDRESS, R3Key=0000072986)
But if I take a look in the table merep_207 I can find a ZADDRESS with the R3Key=0000072986. So why can't the MI find it?
With SP 12 everything was fine. We upgraded the server to SP 13, installed all relevant SAP Notes and generated the SyncBOs. Has anyone the same problem or an idea for a solution?
    Greetings,
    Kai

    Hi,
yes I have checked it serveral times
All SyncBOs are enabled and the cascading flag is set for all SyncBOs.
Additional I have defined a Sync Order for the SyncBOs in the mi_mcd:
    1 MIAUTH    (S01)
    2 ZPARAMET  (T01)
    3 ZPRODUCT  (T01)
    4 ZASSIGNMENT (S01)
    5 ZSRVPROC  (S01)
    6 ZPARTNER  (T51)
    7 ZADDRESS  (T51)
    8 ZIBASE    (T51)
    9 ZSRVCONT  (T01)
    10 ZSRVCONF (S01)
    I have defined following references:
    ZSRVPROC-Item010 -> ZIBASE
    ZIBASE-TOP   -> ZADDRESS
    ZSRVPROC-Item030 -> ZPARTNER
    ZPARTNER-TOP -> ZADDRESS
The interesting thing is that the following references are working:
    ZSRVPROC-Item010 -> ZIBASE
    ZIBASE-TOP -> ZADDRESS
and additional I get all Partner SyncBOs from ZSRVPROC-Item030 -> ZPARTNER where the ZPARTNER-TOP reference field to ZADDRESS is empty. As soon as the Partner has an Address SyncBOs, I get the message described in my first posting.
    Greetings,

  • Sapido GR-1142 with Airplay replace Airport Express

Hi, is anyone used before thit device with a HIFI system like DENON without Airplay itself? Just I want to replace my Airport Express to Sapido GR-1142 and play music from my Macbook pro 13 by this device via WIFI and from this device via USB-Audio cable to my DENON, is this config will be working?
Here is a link to site http://www.sapidotech.com/products.php?act=view&no=115
Thank to all who will try to help me

It sounds like you may have configured your Time Capsule to use a separate name for the 5 GHz network and then setup the Express to extend that specific band.
In order to extend both bands, the Time Capsule setup will need to be changed so that both bands are using the same name. In other words, you would uncheck the option for the 5 Ghz name.
Then, setup the new Express to extend the Time Capsule network.
This is the only way that they Express can extend both bands. It cannot extend both bands if you have assigned a separate name to the 5 GHz network since you will be forced to choose either the 5 GHz band or the 2.4 GHz band for the Express to extend.
How the microwave oven will affect this is not known. This will one of those things that you have to try in your home to know if it will work well, so it might be a good idea to understand the store's return policy before you buy....in case things do not work out as hoped.

  • Non-Apple browsers cause cascading system hang with clean install of Lion

It started with Google Chrome.  After a few hours of use, Chrome would randomly lock up one renderer at a time until it was completely unresponsive.  Console showed nothing conclusive in the logs, and would soon lock up itself.  Logged-in Terminal windows could sometimes get as far as a "ps auxc", but would lock up during the command output, and new Terminal windows or tabs would never get past login.  The SSH daemon would be dead in the water, preventing me from logging in remotely.  Any existing SSH connections would hang on the first command.  Activity Monitor would lock up the moment I tried to sample a process or interact with anything.  Interacting with SystemUIServer (pulling down the menu for the clock or trying to do a Spotlight search) would cause SystemUIServer to hang.  Same with the Dock.  My mouse was like the Midas of software failure: everything I touched turned to hang.  Eventually I'd be staring at a spinning beachball.  After a few (five to ten) minutes, it might perform a couple queued events (opening a window, switching to another application) but would usually become wedged again immediately, forcing me to hard restart.
I then tried installing Firefox 5, and discovered that it causes the hang fairly reliably within the first ten seconds.  Since I knew when it was about to happen, I managed to capture a few stack traces in Activity Monitor, but it was always different, and always somewhere in the kernel (usually file-system related: __getattrlist while scanning fonts one time, the open system call another).
Safari, on the other hand, works great.
I've tried performing a verification of my startup disk, which returns no errors, so although I'm not ruling out hardware failure at this point the problem started immediately after I upgraded to Lion, and persisted even after I wiped my hard drive completely and performed a clean install from the recovery partition.  It also doesn't seem to be completely the fault of either Chrome or Firefox, since they're different browsers with different rendering engines using different system frameworks.  They do both perform a lot of file I/O, so maybe that's a clue.  Another possible lead is the seemingly random errors Console will spew out while the hang is occuring.  Most recently I've gotten a screenful of '--ImageKit Error: updateGLTextureWithBitmapData: glPixelStorei returned an error : 506 ...', and before that it was 'Google Chrome Helper: CGSLookupServerRootPort: Failed to look up the port for "com.apple.windowserver.active" (1100)', "kernel: IOSurface: buffer allocation size is zero".  Console spew being what it is, though, I don't know if any of that is relevant.
I figure I would be seeing quite a lot of angry forum threads if Chrome and Firefox were completely unusable on other people's machines, so I'm guessing there's something specific to my configuration happening here.  With a clean install, though, I'm not sure what it could be.  Here are detailed system specs:
24" iMac (Early 2008 -- just out of AppleCare coverage, figures) , 2.8 GHz, 2GB RAM, running Lion build 11A511 (which should be the 10.7 release version).
I would be massively indebted to anyone who has experienced or heard about this issue before and can give me something else to try.

Zeroing the disk serves no purpose in this situation.  It is a common misconception that this is required to map out bad blocks on the drive, but the fact is that 1) modern hard drives map out bad blocks as part of everyday operation, and 2) zeroing the drive involves simply writing zeros with no checks to see if the zero was written successfully, so it wouldn't know if a block was bad anyway.
It's possible the drive is starting to go bad, although then there should be some problems with SL as well.  I would recommend repartitioning the drive with Disk Utility.  Make sure it's got one partition, using the GUID partition map scheme, and format that partition as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).  Repartitioning should get rid of any gremlins lurking on the disk, unless the physical disk itself is dying.  And after repartitioning, install straight from the flash drive, as Shootist recommends, rather than installing SL first.
Hardware could be an issue.  It's entirely possible for an older system to work fine on slightly faulty hardware while a newer system does not.  Running Apple Hardware Test wouldn't be a bad idea.
Firmware updates wouldn't be a bad idea.  However, note that my mid-2010 MBP with the same specs is running Lion just fine, and I've never installed any firmware updates.  (Firmware updates scare me...  if my machine is running just fine, I'm reluctant to risk installing new firmware.  But that's probably just a bit of paranoia talking.  )

  • Cascade Select list with Tabular Form

    Hi,
I am trying to implement Cascade Select List functionality on a tabular form where users should be able to add multiple rows. The data should be saved to a temporary stage area, where users can review the data prior to saving to the table. Very similar to the shopping cart where one can Delete/Update rows by record. I believe there is a way to do it via APEX Collections. If anyone has an example it would definitely help. FYI, Running on APEX 3.2, so no built in cascade functionality.
    Thank you,
    Chandu

If you received a reply or figured out how to do this, can post? I need to implement exact same functionality and have not figured out how to do so. Have pinged Denes K. for source code on his demo app but not yet received response. Can this be done using wizard tab form or does it have to be a manually tab form?
